We also had the Pad See Ew which was good, although not the complex sour-bitter flavor explosion I'm used to, the chunks of chicken were a little large, and the noodles were not the chewy translucent ones I'm used to. Isarn was an absolutely wonderful Thai restaurant. We were visiting our friends in Queen Anne and decided to go here for dinner. The atmosphere was really great. It was a very modern and classy yet casual vibe. The service by the staff was great, and our food got to us quick and was served hot. I had the veggie fried rice with fried tofu. It was absolutely delicious, and very flavorful. My wife had the isarn herbal soup and enjoyed it. Our friends had the chicken and regular fried rice and enjoyed it. I also had the signature cocktail, butterfly pea, and it was really good and was also beautiful to look at. I felt the prices were reasonable for what you received and for great Thai food. I was beyond impressed with every dish we ordered! Lemongrass Wings Crispy and fried to perfection, these wings were coated in a tangy flavors that hit all the right notes. Fried Rice with Chinese Sausage We chose the Chinese sausage option, and it was absolutely the right call! The sweet and savory sausage paired perfectly with the flavorful fried rice. The fried egg on top was a standout--crispy on the bottom and perfectly runny in the yolk. Thai Tropical Curry This dish was a favorite! In long: There's a hefty list of very good and excellent Thai places around here, but Isarn's creativity and consistency put them a notch above that. This one does not disappoint. Parking is tight, sidewalks are bustling, and businesses are shoulder to shoulder along QA here. Isarn feels like an oasis. Thoughtfully separated spaces, plenty of light, and a nice not-quite-formal feel to the wicker and rattan. You feel like you might be in a cool hotel bar in a city you're visiting for the first time. We hit this up for happy hour before a show down the hill at Climate Pledge. They were quick with waters, drinks, orders, and even the food. We didn't tell them we needed to hurry, since we budgeted the time--they just really crank when they're booked up. We had seafood salad, scallop curry, mushroom fritters, squid skewers, and fried prawn rolls. Nice pub grub vibe, but most definitely with the hot-sour-salty-sweet profile you expect with Thai. The "hot" is actually fairly mild at this one but they will bring you chili oil and peppers and whatnot--in 2-oz plastic cups, not in a caddy. Every single dish was executed perfectly. Big rustic chopped bits of veg, fresh seafood, artful presentation, beautifully balanced seasonings, exact doneness. I'm a huge fan of Isarn's other locations, so this was all to be expected, though the newbie with us was completely dazzled and could not stop gushing. The white wine we had was fine, but the cocktails blew it away, especially The Bua--light, crisp, aromatic, very refreshing. Visible bits of dried flowers floating on top. We kept wishing we could order a pitcher of it to sneak into the show later. And a huge shout-out to the charming, vivacious service tonight. Friendly, light, and very warm. Pleasantly surprised by the Thai food here! I recently traveled to Thailand and have been on the hunt for some good Thai places in Seattle, and this place did not disappoint. My favorite dish was definitely the Phuket pork belly stew--SO tender and flavorful over rice!! I even took home the leftover soup to eat with rice, it was just so delicious. The other dishes we ordered were also solid, my only complaint is that I wish the papaya salad had more of a shrimp or fish flavor. Isarn never disappoints no matter which of its location you go to. The pad Thai is always so flavorful! I love that they have sweet radish and tofu bits in there alongside your protein of choice. It adds so much extra flavor! I wish this item had a mini version on the happy hour menu as well! Lemongrass wings look dry in photos but surprised they weren't. They were very flavorful as well. Easy it eat. Mussel omelette was not the best. Too over fried and oily. We probably will not get this item again. Felt like all dough. Delicious spot for thai food!! They offer a lot of unique dishes that I don't typically see at thai restaurants, so it's fun to try new foods! We got the hat yai fried chicken, crab yellow curry, and northern style sweet curry. Everything was delicious, but I especially liked the two curries! They were both flavorful, rich, and had a nice level of spice. We had enough leftovers for another meal, so portions are pretty decent. I wanted to take my partner here after having the best pork shoulder of my life at a Yelp event. We walked up the hill from my apartment - if you're driving expect to look for street parking. A new Safeway and apartment complex is being built across the street so there may be more parking soon! When we entered at 4:30 on a Sunday in early June, the restaurant was a little warm (the walk up the hill didn't help). The decor is simple and fresh. The hostess sat us promptly and brought water glasses and a pitcher. She informed us it was happy hour until 6 - a nice surprise! We ordered the sparkling lychee and lychee martini to cool down. They did the trick! The food came out quick - papaya salad and pork shoulder first, with the wings shortly after. All of it was very good (the first time pork was still better, so I'll keep coming back to try finding the perfection again). I'll be back during happy hour! Best Thai food I've had in Seattle so far. I rarely get carryout, because most foods just don't taste very good after being cooked, left to steam in a closed plastic container, and then opened about 45 minutes to an hour after being cooked. But Thai food does great as carryout. We ordered five dishes, and all were amazing: -Salty crab papaya salad -Waterfall steak salad (coated in roast crispy rice) -Chu Chi Red Curry Chicken -Northern Sweet Curry -Pork Belly Stew It's family style, so this was way too much food for four people. Everyone loved everything; we all got seconds of every dish, which is extremely rare. It will be hard for me to try anything else on the menu because of how good it all was. One thing to note is that the ordering system was a bit confusing. We were trying to order pickup for as early as possible, and the system said we could order for pickup at 11. However, the restaurant only opens at 11, so that's when they'll actually confirm the order, and it won't actually be ready for another 20 minutes. read more

This review is reflecting on a Yelp Elite Event on 03/26. I love Isarn. I've been to the Kirkland and Lynnwood locations as well as their sister restaurant Kin Len located in Fremont. The Thai food and service at this restaurant does not disappoint. I highly recommend others to give it a try. I just came back from a trip to Thailand so this one really makes me miss the cuisine I've had there. Highlight dishes: 1. Sticky chicken wings (glazed, crunchy, sweet, so good) 2. Chiang mai sausages 3. Calamari / Mushroom fritters 4. Papaya salad 5. Pan fried chicken served with rice (crispy, juicy, yum!) 6. Desserts. Any. Just get it all!! I was fortunate to meet the owner, Jenny and her close family / friends that work in the restaurant as well as the chef. It's wonderful to know they bring chefs from Thailand to the states to cook these amazingly authentic Thailand dishes, it's also more northern Thai if you have a preference on regional distinction of food. The ambience is beautiful- well lit, wood trellis separating the bar from the intimate space for small parties. There's also a side with cute booths. I love the look of this restaurant, decor and interior finishes are chosen very well. But overall, FOOD!!! Please take time to visit Isarn. There's 4 or maybe 5 locations now and you should give northern Thai dishes a try. Thank you Jennifer and Isarn team for having us for dinner. I had the worst Phad Thai I've ever ate last night. It was the first time ordering this dish from this resteraunt. Usually I get curry dishes that are quite good. The meal was a mess, looked like it was slopped together at the last minute with huge chunks of unappetizing pork and greasey flavorless noodles. I did order 2 stars and it was barely spicey. The worst part, a few hours later I had a terrible stomach ache. Very disappointed and won't order this dish again. read more

We spent $56 total for 1 appetizer, 2 entrees, one non alcoholic drink, and 1 rice WHICH is not bad at all for Seattle nowadays Food: mushroom fritters were okay, they didn't feel like much, would not order again. The Pad Kee Mao was VERY GOOD. It had a lot of wok hei and still tasted very good even as leftovers at home. I don't really remember the minced lamb with thai basil, but remember that it was good. 2/3 level spice was too much for us. A lady saw us struggling and brought us ice which was really nice. They don't take reservations for parties smaller than 6. As 2 people coming in at 5:30 ish on a Thursday, we waited for around 20 minutes. There were a lot of families with younger children and large friends/work groups so the ambience was pretty rowdy. The staff were lovely! I have to clarify that this is a review for only the location in Queen Anne. For food, we started with the jumbo fire cracker prawns and ordered pad Thai, pad see ew, and crab fried rice. We asked to go heavy on the spice level and I thought everything tasted very mild and sweet. The prawns we got for appetizer were my favorite- the prawns were crispy on the outside with the spring roll wrapper and very flavorful. The other three dishes were okay- they were all very greasy and just wasn't anything special. I wish it was a little more spicy like we asked for. Pretty cute spot on upper Queen Anne and a great place to go before a show T Climate Pledge Arena or McCaw Hall. They take reservations for parties of 6 or more so to ensure we had a good table early & also enjoy Happy Hour we assembled a a group of us show goers and got a 5:15 reservation . Table was great, kind of offset I. A private area off. We ordered a round of appetizers which I kind of forgot to take pictures of...the only one I really got was a dish I was pretty excited for but ended up being very underwhelming. It was the Squid in lemon soup, it's a Happy Hour exclusive and it looked so enticing on the reviews and in online pictures...but it was literally a cup of tangy, tart broth with rings of boiled calamari in it...kind of a light yellow broth with nothing but squid rings & bits of garlic. On the pictures..it looked more like a shallow bed of vibrant green, herbaceous sauce...so totally not what I expected. It was quite small too...not very shareable for a big group. We also ordered 2 orders of the Isarn Wings, tasty and intriguing since they were all flats with one of the bones pulled out giving a different shape to the wing and making it seem easier to eat. We had some grilled items, the Isarn pork sausage, deep fried salted beef, papaya salad, and mushroom fritters...which I believe are another Happy Hour exclusive. They were just fried mushrooms that had been dipped in a batter & served with a sweet chili sauce...not much fritter about it. For entrees we ordered the Mieng Salmon which was also so appealing on the website pictures...I do like how it was cooked very med rare but again, not much excitement or flavor...even when wrapped with the betel leaves and dipped in a tangy tamarind sauce on the side. This is a nice spot at the corner just before you are deep in downtown Kirkland. That makes parking much easier. It's on the corner so on this bright sunny day we got to sit outside and enjoy the people and cars motoring. Along in Kirkland. They have a good selection of lunch specials. I had the green curry bowl. It was fresh and delicious. The service was great too. The curry itself was nice and spicy and the chicken was well cooked. And this is just such a great lunch things. We were able to walk in with a party of 5 on a weekend and got seated in the back of the restaurant. I'd been wanting to try Isarn so was really excited to get to go with a group of friends. Service was stellar, food was incredible, experience was great. We all agreed we would come back here in a heartbeat! The staff was really accommodating when I called to check about coming in with a larger party. The menu has plenty of great options, and has a variety of specialties that are really compelling choices. It made it a bit difficult to decide! I opted for the pad see ew as it was a recent craving for me. My partner got the chu chi red curry, and the table shared some of the mushroom fritter appetizers. Everything came out hot and fresh, and the protein portions for the entrees are VERY generous compared to pretty much every other place I've been. Everyone at our table made a comment about how nice it was that they included so much protein in their entrees. The nuts that go with them looked like they opened the add-on packet from the instant pad thai noodles and just placed it there. I would never come back to this place. It's mainstream, nothing special. They also gave my wife a bad lemon to use for her pad thai, it was browning along the edges. Can't even get a good Lemon?I hope they change their quality of food. I love Isarn Thai! I used to drive out to the one in lynnwood, really glad one popped up closer. I love this place. Green papaya salad--spicyness level is 1-3, you have to be ok with fish sauce for this salad. I love papaya salads I tend to like the crunchier texture of green papaya and I tend to go for extra spicy. The Isarn Thai noodle with coconut milk is my favorite dish here. Light texture but flavor that really packs a punch. All the sides I've tried have been really good! Highly recommend! read more
