I always entered the mall through this entrance and was excited to try this. I went on Friday evening and there was no one. We have to order through the kiosk on the right side after entering the store. It was pretty easy. I ordered strawberry in a cup and the fish waffle (sorry for the basic words) with Nutella filling. The ice cream was very light and pretty much like a plain one as I didn't taste any strawberries and the size was minimal. The waffle was thin and they just very lightly brushed the Nutella spread inside. It is not a filled one. Overall, I felt it was pricey for the quality and quantity. Good soft serve and even better customer service. I missed the Yelp Elite event at iSee, was on the list but missed the last day. I was looking forward to trying the ice cream and came on a weekend and got a premium cup - the Choco Love. Visually it looked amazing and the taste was good - the pocky stick and mini Oreo was cute. I love a sweet/salty combo and the contrast of the chocolate and the saltiness of the pretzel was tasty. I had told the person working there that I had missed the yelp event they were so nice to give me one of the swag items given out during the event and they also gave me a complementary mochi donut as well a sample of the Ube soft serve which was delicious. Happy to see a small business owner ice cream shop in Stoneridge mall. We tried the milk, milk tea, ube and matcha ice cream. My favorite is the milk and matcha one. The milk tea and ube is a bit sweet so suitable for someone who likes really sweet flavor ice cream. I am hoping that they would introduce sesame or other unique flavors. The cup size is pretty big so it's a bit hard to eat it all by yourself. I would recommend them to introduce smaller sizes so it less of a mess than sharing a cup. Super friendly staff. Red bean (my go to) and shredded pork, a unique flavor caught my eye as I've never seen other places with it. DD got the strawberry and milk tea soft serve in a cup with the taiyaki ON TOP filled with Nutella. Both soft serves were delicious with their respective flavors distinct. As much as I love ube, personally I preferred the strawberry milk tea combo. It had a bit more umph. I am glad I ordered my taiyaki separately as I like them alone and not wet/ mushy from the ice cream. The (dried) shredded pork one was surprisingly good. Nice crispy mochi texture with dried pork inside. It tasted like dim sum. The red bean filling was a bit too mushy. It could have used a bit more time as the filling was more dense than the pork. My DD's taiyaki didn't have much mochi texture. It almost tasted like a waffle cone and not "chew" to the traditional texture. Overall, a nice dessert that was too heavy. After having lunch at the Nextdoor Poké place, I came over and ordered the matcha and ube swirl on a waffle cone. Forgot to take a picture but the portion size is good and the flavors are nice and creamy. Personally I would prefer the matcha flavor even stronger but good enough for the average folks. We got the sakura bloom for $8.5, and the ube/milk tea swirl soft serve as the get-one-free. They were both super creamy and flavorful. The milk tea had a strong black tea taste to it, while the ube was more subtle. The matcha soft serve had corn flake, jelly, and pudding underneath for different texture. I'm always down for some ice cream (and so is my kid) so when we had time on Saturday we made our way over to iSee Cream. It's in Stoneridge on the 2nd floor by the Men's Wearhouse. It's a similar set up to Somi Somi- you choose your soft serve and you choose your taiyaki filling. Very no frills here, I was bummed there was no real place to sit so we ended up having to take our ice cream down to the first floor where we were able to find a spot to eat with a table. Saw the sign advertising this taiyaki shop and couldn't resist! It's located upstairs on the JCPenney side of the mall (down the Surf City Squeeze corridor). We ordered the 5-piece of mixed flavors from the kiosks on the right side of the store. I expected them to be a mini size for the price but no, these were pretty much full sized taiyakis! And they offer sweet and savory flavors! We ordered: ube taro, brown sugar boba, corn cheese, vanilla custard (qty 2 cuz you can't go wrong with vanilla custard!). As much as I love corn cheese, I couldn't quite get behind having it in a taiyaki. Likewise with the brown sugar boba; I found the boba distracting but tasty. The flavor of the taiyaki itself was lightly sweet. Fillings were generous. Taiyakis are made to order and come out piping hot and crispy. They come packaged nicely in a box and the employees thoughtfully label which flavors are which. The only downfall of this shop is the wait time. Because they're made to order, it can take a long time (more than 15 mins) depending what the people before you have ordered. There's a lot of options on the menu, so perhaps they need to pare down to make their turnaround time quicker. read more
