Matsu Matcha opened 2 months ago in Hey! I Am Yogost's space, co-sharing the space. Yogost menu still available. Ordering on 2 kiosks only. Though kiosks clunky to use, the order went through. Got drink in minutes. Only a few tables available inside. In the confusion, I either forgot to take a pic or had a malfunction. Offerings: yogosts, matcha, hojicha, gelato, parfait. Sips: XX Matcha Latte (7.25) no sugar, -initially drink was pretty robust. Stronger than the usual. no sweetness. As ice diluted , matcha devolved into the usual faint sip. No ice next time. -many innovative options worth exploring. 4.5 stars. worthy! Service: none. Notice given on text message. Quality: pretty good Quantity: small either 8 or 12 ounce. Steady flow of patrons. -
This place used to be a yogurt drink shop and now it's a matcha shop. The drinks menu still had the yogurt drinks which is great bc we loved them. The matcha tho, it is Not Good at all. We got the banana pudding creambrulee match and it very water down, bitter matcha flavor. No banana flavor at all or cream brûlée... very disappointing bc it was a $9 drink that tasted cheap, sugary and bitter. It might be a drive but if you want good matcha drinks or ice cream, I recommend Yume Mori in Berkeley. On a different note, their yogurt drinks are still great! We ordered the strawberry yogurt as well and so much better than the matcha they had to offer. Made me think if it is just a business strategy to change name and add matcha to the menu bc that is the hype right now.
Amazing guava matcha!!! I would come back for this but would wait til they get it together and work out ALL their gaps. -1 star for FORCED tip. If you were feeling rush due to a long line like I was, you are overlooked by the automatic tip they force which I did not appreciate. -1 star for having the right kiosk down without "out of order" sign, not having honey boba even though i was charged for it and didnt say "out of stock" on the kiosk, and a filthy bathroom that needs to be checked hourly. If you are charging $10 per drink, full charge, we are expected to have full service. Milk tea is terrible. Amongst 4 different tate buds we collectively said I did not taste like osmanthus at all and it was the only milk tea option. Why you ask did we order milk tea at a matcha place is my my kid doesnt drink matcha but the adult also tried it and disliked it a lot. The staff seems overwhelmed and maybe under staffed
Dropped by Matsu Matcha on a Monday afternoon. We had been meaning to try the one in Santa Clara and weren't aware this one had opened up until we were in the area looking for matcha. There was no wait to order and two kiosks available to order from. A couple of small groups inside when we got there. Inside was pretty cold but outside was hot and they serve gelato so it makes sense! The banana pudding einspanner was excellent! One of the best banana matchas we have had and we've tried a lot given the recent surge in banana matcha drinks in the SF Bay Area. We loved the banana pudding as a topping, and appreciated that we could taste real pieces of banana in addition to the pudding. It's not a true einspanner, with the pudding taking place of what would be cream, but beyond delicious. I'm a slow drinker and still drank half my cup in the first 10 minutes. The avocado shake wasn't the family favorite, but it was more down to personal preference (not liking crystal boba, not liking chia in drinks, etc.) Quality-wise, everyone agreed the avocado shake itself tasted really fresh. We don't often come out to this area, but definitely want to visit the one in Santa Clara for a needed Banana Pudding Einspanner fix.

I bought three drinks and asked for a tray. Instead of helping me placing them in tray, she handed it over on counter then left. Extra hands in store maybe able to fix it.
Came here after a quick Yelp search to sate my matcha craving after lunch. I didn't even know this place existed. Self order kiosk upon entering. You can dine in (self seating) or take out. Guava Matcha 4/5 Matcha with Hojicha Gelato 4/5 Banana Pudding Matcha Crème Brûlée 4/5 (their specialty drink that was quite tasty. Need to stir it well so that every sip had some banana pudding with matcha and the surprise torched sugar pieces. The cookie eventually gets soaked to the bottom and it was actually quite tasty vs just a wet cookie. Want to come back and try their Einspinner
You order via two kiosks, and they call out your order when it's ready. I came right at opening on a Wednesday afternoon and a good amount of customers showed up minutes after me. Got the matcha gelato with genmaicha matcha gelato and the hojicha with hojicha gelato, both at 80% sweet Both were so delicious! The genmaicha matcha gelato had a strong genmaicha taste. I never had genmaicha matcha gelato before but I've had the tea. It tastes very similar and tasty in ice cream form! They give you a little wooden spoon to eat it. The matcha tastes pretty authentic. The hojicha was very creamy and was also very pleasant to drink! A good alternative if you want a drink with less caffeine. Hojicha lovers will definitely love this drink. Both were really good! Cant go wrong with either one! The genmaicha matcha gelato was really unique to me. I would eat this as a scoop of icecream if we could!
I loved my first visit to Matsu Matcha! The place is very clean and welcoming, and the service was super fast. I got the matcha cookie butter and it was very flavorful, smooth and creamy. The seating area is small, but it's a great spot to grab a delicious matcha. Definitely going back.
Finally, we have some real matcha in the Tri-Valley! They've basically rebranded from Yogost/T% to Matsu Matcha, just like their Santa Clara location. Not sure if the Sacramento T%'s did this either. You can still get your usual yogurt drinks and boba tea, but now with the addition of matcha! The yogurt drinks here are delicious and tarty, so I'm glad it's not gone. I heard they finally brought gelato up here, so I'll have to be back. Wait wasn't bad either but seems like it varies. RECS: + Strawberry matcha ($7.95) with 50% sweet was just right. I liked the fresh strawberry puree with the smooth, slightly earthier matcha
My husband and I came on a Thursday around noon. We placed our order ahead of time online and were able to get our drink around 10 minutes later. We got a Matcha Einspanner less sugar and it was so good!! It was a perfect mixture of matcha, milk, sugar, and cream. You know the matcha is matcha-ing cause it kept my breastfed newborn up during my husband's shift haha sorry not sorry ;)
I'm new to liking matcha after being converted during a trip to Japan, so I was really excited to try Matsu Matcha. You order at the kiosk and can sit at the tables while you wait. I ended up going for the strawberry matcha latte. It was a bit bitter for my taste, though to be fair I ordered it with 50% sugar. I might need to adjust that if I go again. I wish though that it had a tad bit more strawberry. Overall, would stop by again if wanting a drink in the area but would probably try something else. Parking is pretty easy to find as well, which is nice.
Gelato option in drink is available. Friday, 7/10 around 12:30pm, there is a very short line. Order at kiosk, waited about 10 minutes to get my drink. Ordered a matcha gelato drink with the jasmine matcha ice cream ($9.30). The drink has good umami taste, but it's slightly bitter. In addition to the matcha, there's still yogurt drinks. Unfortunately, one of the kiosks is having connectivity issues, which slow down the process. Clean environment with a couple tables. Overall, the store is a great addition to the plaza.

We tried the extra strength matcha and the hojicha latte with gelato. extra strength matcha - 9/10, the quality of matcha was excellent. the drink itself was strong, rich and creamy--matcha to milk ratio was good; and had the nice level of sweetness. definitely makes me look forward to trying their other drinks hojicha latte with gelato -10/10, very delicious! the drink had an excellent roasted hojicha flavor--it was rich and creamy, with a nice level of sweetness. definitely my favorite and would come back for this. Drinks are ordered through kiosk, so not too much interaction with staff. But the staff working were working fast, and drinks came out pretty quickly. The place itself is decent in size, with a simple and clean design--long booth seating with a couple of table and few chairs. Overall, drinks were delicious and would come back! Definitely looking forward to trying their other drinks as well :)

Brown Sugar Milk, Peach Strawberry Yoghurt, Matcha Deluxe, and Purple Rice Yoghurt are all very yummy. Ordered at the kiosk and drinks were ready within 10 mins. Service was quick, accurate and friendly. Ambiance was nice: mainly a take out place. read more
Stopped by to try a few of their matcha drinks, and everything was delicious! We ordered the Banana Pudding Matcha Einspanner, Einspanner Matcha, Matcha Latte, and Ube Matcha. The matcha itself tasted high quality--smooth, rich, and not overly bitter. The Banana Pudding Matcha Einspanner was my favorite. It had a nice balance of creamy sweetness without overpowering the matcha. The Ube Matcha was also really good, with the ube adding a subtle sweetness, sugar level 80%. The classic Matcha Latte and Einspanner Matcha were both well-made and perfect if you enjoy a more traditional matcha flavor. Overall, a great spot for matcha lovers. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area, and I'll be coming back to try more drinks! read more

I ordered the matcha latte. It has dairy milk in it. It was so rich. It tasted like it had chocolate notes in it. It reminded me of the matcha gelato I had in Kyoto in June. I would order here again and recommend this matcha spot to other people. I wish I could order just gelato here but it looks like they only have drinks here. They have two drinks with gelato on top. read more

Absolutely blown away by this quality of matcha.You can't go wrong with a triple matcha as a matcha lover. Even the white peach mochi drink was delicious and so unique. Order your own drinks on the kiosk and wait for your drinks. It wasn't too busy for a Monday parking is easy. You cannot get these drinks elsewhere make sure to give this place a try. read more

I wanted to love Matsu Matcha, but unfortunately, the overall experience fell well short of expectations. Upon entering, the store was overwhelmed by an intense chemical scent of cleaning fluid. While a clean space is important, the odor was so heavy that it was off-putting. Since I was ordering to go, I decided to stick it out, though by the time I stepped outside, the chemical smell had clung to my clothes and followed me out. I ordered a Gelato Cup with two flavors (Ultra Rich Matcha #5 and Genmaicha Matcha #1) via the self-order kiosk. To be fair, the taste was fantastic--both flavors were rich and well-crafted, which was the single saving grace of the visit. However, the portion size was noticeably skimpier than expected for a $9.95 price point. The most frustrating part came at checkout. In Pleasanton, the combined sales tax rate for restaurant meals is 10.25%, which should have brought the $9.95 item to $10.97 total ($1.02 tax). Instead, the kiosk displayed a final total of $11.57, bundling an unexplained $1.62 into a single line item labeled "Taxes and Fees." There was zero breakdown, itemization, or upfront notice explaining what these extra fees covered. While businesses face real overhead costs, levying undisclosed, hidden surcharges at a self-service kiosk feels fundamentally un-transparent. Great flavor, but between the chemical smell, stingy portions, and deceptive checkout pricing, I won't be back. read more

Been this place so many times and order rice yogurt drinks everytime. Just notice they change the store name and mainly sale matcha now. Well, walk inside and surprisedly find out that they still keep the yogurt menu. However, we got 2 drinks again today, one less sweet and other one with no sugar. The girl made the drink not evenly. One of them not even full cup. So then she asked other guy, the guy told her just pour it from other full cup to make it even. Bravo! What a great idea! Despite of the sugar level, and they are not busy at the moment, just lazy to blend more to fulfill other cup. And everything done in front of us, Will not returning! read more

We have come here a few times since their rebranding and have enjoyed a variety of drinks. I particularly enjoy their healthier yogurt selections as well as their matcha offerings. The space is modern with a few seating options. Ordering is strictly from the 2 kiosks. The staff prepares the drinks efficiently but could definitely benefit from warmer customer interactions by greeting customers and announcing completed drink orders rather than silently placing them on the counter for pick up! Our drinks today were spot on: Banana Pudding Matcha Creme Brulee w Boba & Purple Rice Cheese Cream Yogurt (no sugar) w Boba. read more

First time I tried Matsu Matcha was in the Santa Clara location, was nice to see that there's one in Pleasanton closer to where I live! I got the banana einspanner and my friend got the guava matcha. Both drinks were yummy and the right amount of sweetness, balancing well with the matcha. Need to come back and try other drinks as well! read more
New matcha spot in Livermore! They're located right across from the outlets in the 99 Ranch Plaza. I visited on a Sunday and was lucky to come in when there was no wait. I ordered the banana pudding brûlée matcha and it was super good! The last time I ordered this drink at the Santa Clara location, the brûlée was completely burnt and left a bitter aftertaste. Here, the brûlée-to-pudding ratio was perfect. The matcha part of the drink tasted pretty solid too. Ordering is done on a kiosk - my drink was ready in about 5-8 minutes. There's a few tables available inside though service isn't the greatest in there! read more

Finally! I have went to their santa clara location first and I'm glad they're here! Cut my trip in half~. Smaller location, but who cares~ only here for their matcha and gelato. Personally love their guaa and cookie butter matcha both on 80% sweetness. You can even add mochi in this location. read more
Really solid matcha especially for the tri valley area. The sign on their front door says they're open Sun-Thurs 12-9 but unsure of the opening time Fri-Sat. They still have the original Yogost drink menu, but now have a Matsu Matcha set of drinks. You can customize sweetness and add 1-3 toppings. The mochi topping is very soft and light. Drink came out in 5 minutes. I've only tried the ube matcha so far but the matcha flavor is prominent. Couldn't quite taste the ube but maybe it's because I'm drinking through a straw. Still a great drink nonetheless at 80% sweet. Potentially could even go down to 50%. I'd return and try the triple matcha next time as it has matcha cream and matcha jelly. read more
This is in the Pacific Pearl Shopping Center to the left of Somisomi. Parking is plentiful, as this is a shared lot. Interior is bright, simple, and clean. There are two kiosks to place your order but I am sure an employee can assist you. Since this restaurant is new, the kiosk I was using was very glitchy and would not accept my credit card payment until I tried a few times. Items ordered: Unsweetened soy matcha latte- Loved the nutty matcha flavor! Unsweetened ube oat milk latte- Light ube flavor and matcha taste was good. I prefer the plain matcha read more

went on a saturday at opening and it was quiet. order at the kiosk and service was quick though they call your number pretty quietly so you have to watch out for your drink. they also had a 1.75 charge for tax and other fees even tho my drink was 7.50 so it actually ends up being quite a bit more expensive than you think. some seating along the wall. plenty of parking in the plaza -gelato matcha, half sweet: chose jasmine matcha ice cream which was v fragrant! kinda hard to eat tho and got kinda icy but maybe that's just how ice cream is in liquid. latte was earthy, good matcha. also got sweeter as the ice cream melted so maybe 25% sweet would've been better for me overall would be open to come back to try their other items as the matcha is good and their menu has a lot of interesting drinks. ends up being pricey because of the additional fee tho read more

Really enjoyed Matsu Matcha! They have a great variety of drinks--not only matcha, but also fruit yogurt drinks like Fresh Mango Yogurt and White Peach Mochi, which is nice when you're in the mood for something different. The matcha is rich and smooth without being overly bitter, and I love that you can actually taste the matcha instead of it being overwhelmed by sweetness. The drinks are creative, refreshing, and beautifully made. Definitely a fun spot to try, especially if you love matcha and Asian-style drinks! The service was okay, it's more like self serve. read more
Jasmine Matcha Gelato on top of a Matcha Latte! I was in the area and wanted a drink and saw Matsu Matcha on Yelp! There's 2 self-serve kiosk in front of the bar so ordering was really fast and easy. Unfortunately, I waited about 25 minutes for my drink so I would recommend placing an order ahead of time. Getting my drink was honestly so underwhelming. I ordered the jasmine matcha gelato matcha latte and the presentation was really nice but the cup was small and it was 90% ice. It did cost me $9 but at least it tasted good I guess. After mixing everything together, the matcha was super creamy and the jasmine taste was very aromatic through the matcha. read more
