Beware, this dealer practices unlawful and deceptive sales tactics. The secondary sales managers try to pressure you into great deals while only talking in monthly prices and not the cash price in the car. In addition they try to add on extended warranties while claiming the bank will only be able to guarantee this interest rate if you buy the warranty. This is 100% illegal. The banks cannot base their rates and honestly couldn't care less on who pays for car repairs. If you do go there, make sure you have done your homework first so they don't try to trap you into buying useless extras at inflated prices. read more

Last year, my 80 year old parents were in the market for a Subaru. They live on Staten Island so I took them to Island Subaru. Everything went well. Our saleswoman was gracious, took us for a test drive in a crosstrek and a forester. They settled on the forester. She performed a credit check on my parents. They were pre-approved. Now we just had to negotiate a price. Our saleswoman told them she couldn't give us a price until they gave her $300 as security. I asked her if she could repeat herself. She said the same thing. Needless to say, we left. My uncle returned a Hyundai to Island Hyundai 2 years ago. Everything went well. Until 2 months later the bank holding the lease sent a collection notice claiming that final payment on the lease wasn't made. He contacted Island Hyundai, and they said they would take care of it. The next collection letter claimed the charge was for a lost key. Several phone calls later and the issue has never been resolved. Avoid this company like the plague. Use common sense when looking at these reviews. Car purchasing is tricky, but instances of outright fraud should be a HUGE red flag to stay away from a dealership. read more

Insufficient waiting area/dirty, insufficient night drop and no secure parking lot, never open on time at 7am, uncaring, no regard for safety, insufficient number of lifts to handle the car volume, insufficient number of reps, when they're in a meeting no one answers the phone, un-returned phone calls, have to beg for a rental/loaner when car is in for more than 2 days of service. read more

At first the sales guy was nice and "helpful".. the deal was not the best but i accepted cause my current car at that time was giving me issues with the tires. They asked immediately for a review, no wonder why.. i left a good one based on current situation. A couple of weeks later, i got deducted from my bank account the monthly payment from my previous car, i called the sales guy at Island Group, he said he will resolve. He started ignoring me, and only answered messages from my husband. I called Mercedes Benz to see what happened, they said Island Group sent a less amount of what we agreed. We agreed they will paid off the car but that was not the case. After a couple of weeks they had no other option but to send the check for remaining balance since they needed the title. I never got reimbursed my monthly payment. got tired and left it like that. Now i received a letter from Island Group accounting dept asking me to pay for $321 for NY registration.. the funny part is that i live in Nj, my car plates and registration are from Jersey. I am not sure what is going on, my husband sent a message to The sales guy to see if he could find out, once again we got ignore. If I could give zero stars I would. This has been the worst experience ever!! I leased a Jeep in February and still running into issues. Along with the lease I traded in my old car. I was told they would take care of my old registration and inspection, that was not an issue. Weeks after I received three tickets in the mail for my traded in car dated February 4th a day after I handed over the keys. The dealership parked the car in a bus stop and left the car on the street. We have brought the tickets to their attention and have been given the run around. We are not responsible for these tickets as the car was no longer in my possession. Apparently every time we call or go in person there is no manager available. It's amazing that a place of business can run without managers? The customer service has been terrible. I have told everyone on Staten Island to never go to Island Auto Group. Why should I have to pay for their neglect?? Because they were irresponsible I am at fault? When we first leased the car with Jay Hodge we also mentioned we were referred by a friend so he should receive the referral. As of July he has not received the money owed to him. Matter of fact the paper work was NEVER filled out even though we spoke many times. This auto group is lazy and have no idea what they are talking about. They will not being receiving business from me or anyone we know ever. read more

I love my car but. DO NOT get the service package. I'm now 3 hours waiting on a routine oil change. This isn't the first time. Every time I come here the wait is ridiculous and they tell me they're backed up or short handed. That's not my problem. You need to learn how to budget your time and workload. Save you money and go third party for your services. read more

Today was a pleasure, I usually hate car shopping but Samar Drakeford, was a pleasure to do business with.

By far the worst customer service I have EVER received in my life. I went to buy a used jeep and was told before hand I could leave a deposit on agreed upon price. Then, was brought to a different location (jeep Dodge Ram) where I received the worst service possible. Said I couldn't leave a deposit on the car to pick it up in a few days because they would lose out on a sale (I was picking it definitely buying it) would not work with me, nothing. Very rude and unprofessional. I then went back when the general manager said I could leave a deposit. When I went back they had me waiting for 3 hours for absolutely nothing. It turns out they had no idea what car I was even looking to purchase!!! They lost all the paper work with the prices we agreed upon, and then SAME CAR went up $4,000!!?! They said I HAD to purchase a certification for the car but at any other dealership it is optional..... IF U WANT UR TIME WASTED AND TO LOOK LIKE A FOOL GO HERE. Worst. My car was towed there, and was told I needed a new transmission cooling radiator and related lines $1375, and "they'll see if they can save the transmission" I paid the $150 for the diagnostic fee and took it to my regular mechanic and all it needed was the lines tightened, and to refill the fluid. $190 w/ Labor. read more

Beware of this place. A bunch of con artists do not go there. I traded in a 2013 Jeep Patriot for a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. While doing all the paper work they said they would send the car to be inspected. Now all is done and the car failed inspection. I was told "to bad it is already your car" Failed inspection before it was mine but they waited till everything was done and I owned it to tell me it failed. I can write a book. I have many problems with this car. I am making payments and did not get the car for almost three weeks after the night I bought it (no loaner car was given) so I had no car. Now it is 2 months later and the car sits in my garage unused because I do not trust it to go anywhere. So still have no car. It is now in an attorneys hands and all I can do is wait. read more
