So the cornerstones of any successful business are -- do the job right & excellent customer service - so far my initial review is 3 stars. I can't say I felt like I was given very good customer service from the start; checking the car in was hasty, at the front desk looked like he'd rather type up whatever he has on his computer or do anything rather than talk to me - I'm ready to drop this review one more star as I sit here in the waiting room and watch him comfortably talk story with this other guy, but he couldn't seem to take even a solid 60 seconds to answer my questions about the toe and camber on my car... As for getting the job done right? Well time will tell; considering that everything is computer aligned and reports are printed, its my reasonable expectation that they'll do the job right. As for customer service though? I can't say I'm too impressed. I felt like I was treated like a 20 something kid rather than the gearhead I am. (This review is brought to you by someone who knows how to manually string align a suspension, remove and install a suspension in its entirety and even install and align air ride from scratch, so I'm not just talking out of my butt.) A tip for Island Brake, ever heard this quote (paraphrased from the CEO of southwest if I recall correctly)? "We're in the business of customer service and just happen to fly planes" I think you should be in the business of customer service and just happen to fix cars - it'll build solid relationships with your clientele. At that time, I was advised that I may need to get new tires but can bring the car back for a 're-alignment' if I needed to. I'll tell you guys right now, honestly do not use Island brake and alignment. They're a rip off. Little over a year ago i had my front brakes done for my Ford Ranger. They took about 2-3 hours. I noticed about 2 or 3 week later the breaks were already squeaking off and on. Wasn't sure if it was a major problem or not. Today they still squeak some. i spoke with a mechanic that does my safety check and i asked him about the squeak and he said that he heard it but they look ok. But he told me the reason it squeaks is because they used cheap breaks but they still charged $700. My mechanic said he could have done the job with better materials for about $500. This guy Derrick Duduiot is a rip-off artist. beware people don't use this guy i would encourage you to shop. read more

I am a car enthusiast and drive a modified 2010 Mazda3 I Touring Sedan 5spd manual. Two weeks ago my car hit a massive pothole on the Pali and my steering wheel was misaligned 20 degrees although my car still pointed straight. I was concerned about structural damage and safety and I called Derrick at Island Brake & Alignment because of all the positive reviews. Derrick stated that he was booked for two weeks but that he could squeeze me in the following week due to my situation. I arrived ten minutes early for my appointment but Derrick took my car right in. While a tech started on my car I spoke to Derrick about clutch and ABS Hydraulic Module issues with this generation Mazda 3's and found Derrick to be VERY knowledgeable about my car and cars in general. When my car was finished Derrick stated that there was no structural damage and he was able to align both front and rear to specs. My steering wheel is now aligned perfectly and my car points perfectly straight. I trust Derrick's work completely and would absolutely recommend his shop to anyone. read more

Came here to get my car aligned after I installed rear control arms on my car. Service was good & they did a great job in getting my car align. The reason why I'm giving it a 3 star is because I left with a noise on my passenger side. I never had any noises before getting my car aligned. I called them back to address the problem. They told me they had nothing to do with it because all they did was tighten and loosen things. They said to come by, but it wasn't a guarantee fix so I didn't want to waste my time read more

Gods send. These guys are very HONEST. My dad needed his truck aligned. They took him in right away and at the same time my dad thought something was wrong with the windows. So he didn't realize he set the window lock. I asked them if they could check on that issue as well and when they were done with the truck that's when we found out it was just a lock on the window switch. They could have easily said it was something electrical and charge us some phantom charge but they were very honest. That's hard to come by with car repair shops. The service here was hands down amazing, I got there around 8:30 my appointment was till 9 but once I checked in they took my car in and started working on it they estimated it would be 1-1.5 hours so I decided to walk down the road and get some breakfast. I was due for a safety check but wanted to get my brakes fixed first. I went in to replace all my brakes and rotors. It was sooo expensive but I heard so much good reviews about the place here on Yelp and someone recommend the shop. So I didn't mind just as long as everything was fixed correctly. Couple days after my brakes was replaced it was still squeaking, so I called asking why? They said it was normal and to let them know it was doing it still. So three weeks after called again to tell them it's squeaking still and they said the same thing which was it is normal and to wait it out and it will go away and to call them if it keeps squeaking. I told them this was the second time I've called so they said to bring the car in. I brought my car back in and they didn't even take a look under the car or through the wheel to check the breaks. They didn't even spray any brake cleaner. Anyway, a guy just drove it around their parking lot and came back to tell me nothing about my car. The front desk worker told me (same girl I previously have talked to on the phone) that everything seems to be fine and the squeaking noise will go away. Don't get me wrong, she was extremely nice but what is happening to my brakes is NOT normal. I didn't make a fuss about it because hey they are mechanics they should know. I am now due for another oil change and safety inspection and till this day squeaks where my neighbors always hear and tells me that my brakes are still squeaking. Embarrassed, all I can tell everyone in my neighborhood is that Island Brakes and Alignment did a crappy job and I was expecting them to be better. I should have just went to the Tony Honda dealership instead. When someone does a good job on brakes it should not squeak. And if it does it should be cleaned. Brakes shouldn't squeak constantly, especially when they're new and a shop should take any squeal seriously. This makes me think that maybe they didn't replace the rotors or pads like they said they would. It looks like they did, but it sure doesn't sound like it. Months later and the problem still persist. Sure, brakes might squeal a little more when you first start driving on a dewy or chilly morning because the pads are wet but that should last for five seconds, tops. And, yes, dust and dirt could cause noise, but it shouldn't last for long. I don't even drive on dirt roads or huge puddles when it rains. Now I'm due for another safety inspection. I'm kind of worried that I might fail because my brakes are squeaking still and that I am currently due for another oil change since my maintenance check light is on. I'm going to get my oil change done today at another shop and then pray that my inspection passes with the squeaky brakes. Sadly I would not recommend Island Brakes. It was a huge disappointment :( . read more

Came to this place since it was recommended for those with a lifted truck. I brought my truck in on the Memorial Day holiday and they did a full alignment plus mount and balancing of 4 tires (which I brought in) in about an hour and a half. Alignment spec sheet came in perfect and Derrick also set me up for what I needed to get recon. Truck is perfect and feels solid, I feel like the mechanics are top notch. I went here about 3 years ago to get a front end alignment for my 2010 Shelby GT500, based on a recommendation from Cutter Ford (next door) because my car sits fairly low. Customer service was friendly enough. However, the tech dropped my car on the alignment machine and bowed out my right front fender well. The tech obviously knew he did it, but didn't say a word. If it was a 1990 Corolla I wouldn't really care, but it's a Shelby, and it's about integrity. Because it was on the passenger side I didn't notice until a couple weeks later when I washed the car. Was able to pull it out pretty well myself with a pry bar, but still has some minor ripples/crease on the inside of the wheel well. This was obviously the tech and not the owner, but have to question the integrity of the employees, or at least that employee. In retrospect, shoulda/coulda gone back in, but who wants to take another day or two off work, then have to leave the car with another shop to fix the body work, too much hassle. I'll just never go back, and recommended to Cutter they refer their clientele elsewhere. Too bad because their other reviews seem positive. read more

I scheduled an alignment appointment for my Z4 over the telephone, the girl who made the appointment was pleasant and scheduled me for 11 a.m. so I could have the work done over my lunch break. I arrived about 20 mins early and they took my car back as soon as I arrived. The entire alignment took 50 minutes. After performing the work, the mechanic took the car for a road test to ensure everything was good to go. The staff was efficient, courteous, and did not try to upsell me on anything.
