We tried the sea salt coffee (sea salt foam with vietnamese coffee,) coconut matcha (coconut water, matcha foam, boba) and glazed croffle. Drinks were definitely strong - you'll be feeling it!! I also appreciated that the drinks weren't overly sweet like a lot of vietnamese coffees are - so if that's what you're used to, request em to modify! You can easily adjust ice and sweetness levels so you can have your perfect drink (: The croffle wasn't my favorite as I wasn't sure if it was glazed - I was expecting a crunchy/caramelized sugar exterior, but still decent. I ordered the matcha latte with oat milk, regular sweet, and less ice. The matcha flavor was actually pretty good, but it wasn't mixed very well and was super grainy. Every sip felt chalky and irritated my throat, so I ended up giving the drink to my husband after a few sips. He didn't seem to mind it though. I also wasn't a fan of the nugget ice since it melted really fast and watered down the drink. I personally prefer larger ice cubes that last longer. Another negative is I ordered ahead online, but my husband still had to wait quite a while. They also accidentally gave my husband another matcha latte drink with whole milk instead of oat milk the first time, so that added to the wait. Plus side is the shop is in the same plaza as K Sandwiches and Wushiland, and parking was easy. If you need to wake up immediately, this is the place. I tried their egg coffee on my first visit, and it was good! Rich, creamy, and seriously strong. A new Vietnamese owned coffee shop! I came by on a Wednesday to do work since I was meeting my friend nearby for dinner & wanted to avoid rush hour traffic. I tried their biscoff matcha, which is only seasonal/off menu but they still made it for me. With the thick cream top and biscoff cookie & crumbs, it tasted very creamy and milky kind of like a biscoff blended drink or icecream. The matcha was barely there but it didn't bother me too much as it satisfied my biscoff craving. It is dairy heavy fyi so I needed a lactaid. This Vietnamese coffee place is located in the same parking lot as K Sandwiches. They feature Vietnamese coffee brewed by phin filter the traditional Vietnamese way. I got a large Vietnamese coffee, The lady asked if i wanted it 25%, i wasn't sure what that meant but I guess if she asked then thats how most people order it, so i just went with it. I got a large and it was nice and smooth, not too sweet and still had a good coffee flavor, so i guess 25% sweet was the way to go. The cup had a sticker that said regular ice and 25% sweet, so i guess i could order less ice, which would mean more coffee, so I'd order it that way less time. 25% sweet and half ice. I like that they have other options like salted foam, ube, foam and egg foam. I did wish they had coconut coffee which is a thing I'd get while i was in Vietnam. One of the latest is Drip Beans Coffee which is located in the Kearny Square of the Clairemont neighborhood where a poke shop used to operate. Parking in the shared lot can be hit or miss because of the businesses in the plaza that can draw large volumes of customers during meal times. The inside of the suite had about half a dozen small round tables for seating. Three menu screens hung high on the wall to the left of the service counter. Phin-dripped coffees were listed on the first screen, matcha and tea drinks were shown on the middle screen, and pastries (croissants/croffles/waffles) were on the last screen. Of the six matcha varieties, I picked the Strawberry Matcha Latte. Matcha, whole milk, and strawberry puree were the ingredients. The cup was layered from top to bottom in green, white and red to reflect the above contents. The puree was one of the fruitier strawberry layers I have tasted in this type of drink. The staff was pleasant despite being preoccupied with assembling orders. For the price and quality of my item, I gave a four star rating for my visit to Drip Beans Coffee. read more

I came here to have coffee while discussing work. It was my first time here and requested a meeting place that had easy parking. It wasn't too busy today around 10a. The place wasn't too full . There's one restroom in back. I didn't realize they had a self order ipad so I just placed order with cashier. They didn't have any cream to add to their straight black coffee so I just ordered it as-is (iced). I was surprised it was almost $7 for a 20oz serving . They call your order when it's ready for you to go to counter to pick up. The coffee tasted like standard strong ice coffee. I was hoping for a smoother taste especially for the premium price. We came to get Rocky's since we came back after a very long time to San Diego and found out Rockies ended up moving locations and Drop took its place! They did such a great job renovating this space into a much more open area for customers to sit. We got the Ube Coffee and the Salted coffee and both were average. We were really expecting more ube flavor from the Ube foamed Vietnamese coffee and more of a salted flavor from the Salted coffee. I love discovering small business, and this new Vietnamese coffee shop in Linda Vista is a winner! I had the breakfast combo consisting of a Vietnamese coffee and a croissant sandwich. You can choose from beef, chicken, or ham and cheese. I went with the beef for $10.99 plus tax. First of all, the croissant sandwich was quite tasty. The beef was tender, well seasoned and delicious. Saw that this place had opened up not too long ago and was craving some Vietnamese coffee so came by to check this place out. I went with the salted Vietnamese coffee and my partner went with the matcha cloud. They told me that the coffee starts at 25% sweetness which I felt was perfectly fine for this drink. The salted foam was not too salty and complemented the drink well. Like other Vietnamese coffees it was plenty strong. As for the matcha cloud I felt like the matcha foam was tasty but overall there wasn't enough matcha flavor for me. It replaces a very bad poke shop (which moved across the street into the gas station, strangely) and shares the same plaza as K Sandwiches. No matter because Drip Beans Coffee is serving a unique product. Viet coffee they may serve, but it's strictly dripped and then iced, so no espresso to be found here. Finally, a shop serving Salted Coffee (Cà phê muối) and Bạc Xỉu/ white coffee, alongside Egg Coffee and Viet Coffee w/ condensed milk to make for a strong lineup. I ordered a Salted Coffee, Bạc Xỉu, and buttered croissant during their soft opening with 20% off all orders, the goal of getting cracked out for the day on the horizon. I had each drink's sweetness and ice level adjusted. The Salted Coffee already comes at 20-30% sweetness, as the barista was careful to inform me, which is the perfect level. I asked for less ice and this is the way to go because the crushed ice without the adjustment is very plentiful. Regardless, they will not skimp on the coffee portion of the drink which is BOLD and STRONG though the Bac Xiu less so, the larger whole milk portion cutting through the rich acidity. Both the Salted Coffee and Bac Xiu reminded me fondly of Vietnam, my go-to orders at the shops in the North and Middle. I will be back for the Egg Coffee this week... a regular I will become for the new coffee shop in my hood! read more

Been waiting for this place to open up and finally got a chance to try them on a Friday morning. Place is in the same vicinity as K Sandwich. They have an open seating concept with lots of natural light coming in. A good spot for doing some work or chilling. As for their drinks, I've been wanting to try some good egg coffee, and so glad to see they have it here. First things first, Vietnamese coffee's can be strong and bold. This egg coffee, made with real egg (yolk?) you can barely taste the egg since it's mixed with some sweetener. It also is already made 25% sweet, so that to me is a perfect amount of sweetness. The Egg foam makes the coffee nice and creamy too. Service was great. I'd say the wait time wasn't that long and had 3 other people ahead of me. What a cute cafe! The location is perfect for students from the nearby community college and high school, which you can definitely tell by how many people were inside studying. The decor is simple with a modern minimalist feel and a touch of wood that makes it feel clean and inviting. It's spacious and honestly a great environment to get work done. The menu is displayed on TVs along the left side and there are self ordering kiosks on the counter. The only downside is that the kiosks don't show full descriptions, so you have to keep looking back at the TVs to know what you're ordering. The worker was super sweet though and offered to answer questions or take our order if needed. I knew I wanted matcha and was deciding between the strawberry matcha latte or a regular one. I wanted something a little more interesting but not fruity, so I went with a matcha latte with salted cream foam at 75% sweetness. My husband got the marble drip coffee, which is a lighter phin style coffee with milk. Our drinks came out quickly and looked really nice. The layering of the matcha and coffee over the milk was pretty. They offer whole milk or oat milk for an extra $0.80. The matcha was just average. It leaned very milky and the actual matcha flavor felt muted. It didn't taste like high quality matcha, more mid tier, even comparable to something like Costco-sold Sencha matcha. I didn't hate it, it just didn't feel worth the price, especially with so many better matcha spots in San Diego. The salted foam was a nice touch though and balanced the drink well, almost like a matcha einspanner. The marble coffee was solid. It had a strong coffee flavor with a slight bitterness, but still enjoyable overall. I'd probably come back and try their teas instead. I'm usually not a coffee drinker but their Vietnamese coffees were on point! Nicely brewed, strong coffee that complimented well with crushed ice. It had me not wanting to set the cup down until it was completely done. I had the matcha coffee, which had the matcha foam on top. It was a nice combination and flavors were well defined. The flavors didn't overpower one another but instead, complimented each. I also had the salted coffee, which had the salted foam on top, and it was good, too. I ordered a longan tea for someone else and she said she thoroughly enjoyed it, as it had a strong tea flavor, plenty of longan toppings, and it wasn't overly sweet (opted for no sugar but longan flavor had sweetness to it - barista recommended). Their regular sugar level seemed to be set at 50%, and reduced was offered at 0% and 25%. Besides coffee and tea, they also offer matcha and pastries. The shop looked simple and minimal with a few small tables. I came early and there were already a few people in there studying with their laptops. You won't be sorry giving this place a chance. They have a large parking lot, easy to read menu, self order kiosk, and fast service. We were looking at the menu trying to decide what to try first and the staff quickly noticed us. The egg coffee at 50 percent sweet was perfectly balanced. The sweetness level allowed the coffee flavor come through without a heavy bitterness. It's cool that they are so close to Mesa College and I'm assuming they have a discount for students-- I only assume this because the woman asked if we were before we paid. BUT, I could be wrong and perhaps she was just making conversation. Anyways, this area has a shared lot with other businesses so it's pretty easy to find parking. We went around 1pm on a Friday and they had a handful of customers. There was music playing and the interior was modern and clean. Natural wood, some greenery (artificial plants), and nice seating arrangements. It seems like they also have extra patio sets if needed. They had several menus displayed which were all well-organized with the prices mentioned. There were options of teas, matcha, Vietnamese coffee, waffles, breakfast croissants, etc. Similar to a boba shop they ask you about sweetness level and ice level. I think it would be handy to have it written on a little board so that people who are not familiar with this, can have a visual. Since it was my first time coming to Drip Beans, I went with regular sweetness and regular ice level. I ordered the ~$6.99, 16 oz, Iced Salted Vietnamese Coffee (Ca Phe Muoi). This was one of my favorite coffees to order while I was traveling Vietnam and when I came back to SD-- not many places offered this. I'm so happy it was offered here. And I read a review that said it was too salty, and I'm glad I stuck by giving it a try. Because it was NOT too salty at all, it was perfect. It was well balanced with the sweetness of the condensed milk and the bold dripped coffee. The Vietnamese coffee was on the thinner side, but still very tasty and strong. Texturally you'd want it a bit more thick so that overtime the crushed/smaller ice would melt-- giving you the perfect cup of coffee. I think, people that aren't used to your typical ca phe sua da would prefer this style of thinned out Vietnamese coffee. Overall, I enjoyed it and can't wait to come back to try another one, maybe the ube or egg coffee. My brother went with their ~$6.99, Lychee Tea, and opted for Black Tea. He asked for less ice, but still thought it was a little too much. The drink itself was delicious and not overly sweet. There were slices of lime and several rounds of lychee. It was very refreshing and he brought it home to add more tea into it. Next time, he said he'd order one of their waffles/croffles. Unlike other Vietnamese Coffee shops, I think this one stands out because they do HOT Vietnamese coffee! I was excited to see that a new coffee shop opened up near me. I've already been to it a couple of times. On my first visit I got the Matcha Coffee, which is a Vietnamese coffee with matcha foam. I stopped by here to grab some coffee and had no idea that it was in the same plaza as K Sandwiches and Rose Donuts. I do like that they are open early so you could grab a coffee before heading to work. The staff here is super friendly and they have lots of coffee and options. I got their sea salt coffee and there was no line when I came in since it was early. I did like that you could customize your sweetness levels for the coffee. I got 0% sweetness since I don't like my drinks too sweet. I think I would have done 25% if I had not gotten the sea salt cream. I came here with my fiancé. He ordered the salted coffee and enjoyed it. I prefer espresso, so I didn't order a drink. They also have various matcha drinks. They offer toppings including rainbow jelly, coffee jelly, and clear boba. I personally would enjoy regular boba. The drink came out fairly quickly. Ambiance is pretty typical with seating. If you enjoy matcha or Vietnamese coffee, it could be worth a try. read more
