This place is nostalgic in a sense because the food reminds me of my grade school cafeteria leftovers. The food was delivered to me so I never viewed the menu to see if flavor was a side dish. If it was, I never got any, but I sure had an extra helping of bland. I would be willing to bet there's a lot of canned goods and microwave ovens in the kitchen. I tried (but could not finish) the eggplant parmesan. It was flabbier than the chubby kid in dodgeball. The chicken sandwich (also couldn't finish) merely needs its name changed to "warm mayonnaise sub with turkey slice," then things would be less like a magic trick. I was walking back from the bank and stopped in to see what they had as I was tired of the usual around my office. Their lunch specials weren't that "special" so I just ordered a sandwich and a drink. Hot pastrami and a diet coke. As I waited I browsed the rest of their menu and I wasn't terribly impressed. I spent 9 years in the restaurant industry and spent quite a bit of that time managing pizza joints. The salad bar sort of creeped me out as it was a trough with ice and a sneeze guard with sad looking veggies in it. My food came out pretty quickly and I walked back to my office for eat it. My family and I had a coupon so we decided to go for it, picked it up and went to a park to eat it. The reviews aren't kidding, this really is like a ghost town. I have been in search of a quick-serving Italian restaurant in the area for the past two years. So, thanks to Yelp, I checked this place out. And I was pleasantly surprised! I had the baked lasagna, my girlfriend had a roast beef sandwich. And I must say, not only did they cook the roast beef, but the sandwich was 10 inches long! It also tasted as well as it looked! I wished that my lasagna was above Luke-warm in the middle layers, but hey, I enjoyed it anyway. The plate was covered in a delicious marinara sauce, sprinkled generously with oregano. What caught my eye was the look of the pizzas coming out of the oven. This place is certainly a phone-in/delivery joint, and so I was able to see the wonderfully colored pizzas being constantly shuttled to-and-from the oven and pizza delivery man. good food, and great value (where else can you get a 10-inch sandwich for $5.50, or a large pizza for 11 bucks); I am definitely stopping by again! read more

Decent food, nothing to rave about. Friendly stuff saves it for me. We had the lasagna and the calzone, which did not taste home made. Personally to me, it tasted like frozen meals you pop into an oven. They didn't taste bad, since I pop in frozen meals in the oven at home and I enjoy them. There is this delicious dish they make for me when I go in and I just recently found out from my sister that it has made the menu!!!! YUM!!!!!!!!!! It's the spinach ravioli with creamy sauce and they serve it with garlic bread....so delicious, you can taste the nutmeg in the ravioli, the spices in the sauce, the meat sauce is very good but add the creaminess and wow!!!! My favorite is the spinach ravioli and I love the zucchini sticks, they are small so they give you I think 10. People compared it to NY and I say pretty close. The crust is thin, but not too thin like those cracker style thin crust. It's a little less than 1 cm thick. It has a great flavor. Not too much sauce and just right amount of cheese. Also not oily at all. Large slice. Very very good. My new favorite pizza place. Italian Salad: As expected. Good. Most basic none premium salads I run into fall into good as expected or faulty. I've never found one that has blown my mind. It's a salad. Anyhow, I found this good as expected. Not cheesed out. Good mix of all the items. Fresh. Good portion for one and a slice or to share. Chicken parmigiana sandwich: Overall very good and nice flavor. Bread is soft inside and toasted crispy outside. Just enough sauce and cheese. I would have preferred more chicken in it, but my girlfriend thought it was perfect for her since she doesn't like too much meat in her sandwiches. No matter, we both agreed it was very good. Chicken panini: Made from pizza dough. It was crispy and good. Different from what I've had before. Tasted more like two slices of thin crust chicken pizzas slapped together, but with less cheese. It was good, but I would definitely pick the sandwich and pizza over this. Service: Excellent. They were very friendly and pretty quick. Of course, this was after the lunch rush. From what I heard while we were there, it gets pretty busy around lunch. Duh!! Far exceeded my expectations...and I'm a thin crust pizza snob...once you've been in NYC and had NYC thin crust pizza, it's hard to go back to processed, thick dough pizza. Even my bestie loved it and she is extreeemely picky about food - esp. thin crust pizza!! Portions - fantastic. We can eat on the largest pizza for days... The wings - big, plump and juicy with a mouth-watering spicy buffalo sauce reminiscent of Texas-style and Cajun-style flavors added. I usually come here for the spaghetti since their meat sauce is really good, but I have tried the pizzas and must say the quality is average. I've been enjoying their pizza and sandwiches for over 15 years and they have never let me down. Very reasonable prices and always have my pie made to order and ready when I pick it up. You can't miss with their courteous delivery guys, but my office is a block away so I pick my food up. Very surprisingly good salads. Antipasto is my favorite and compares favorably with bigger establishments. You must try the toasted Italian sub or meatball sandwich. This is a local family owned and operated restaurant and a Tustin treasure. Gus and his wife are always warm and eager to give you a great experience. Very family friendly place . We love Italian express. We pick up food here one to two times a week. Our teenage son started coming here after hockey practice and will tell you the pizza is awesome! The owners are so nice and just the other day their daughter took my credit card and completed the transaction. The pizza and garlic cheese rolls are so good! The salad was great- a perfect balance of chopped lettuce, tomatoes with garbanzo beans, cheese, salami slices and ham. Just the right amount of meat to salad ratio and the oil and vinegar dressing was very simple and tasty. I'd order that salad again (under $8). The pizza was blah. Flat crust with flat edges, thin layer of tomato spread and sliced pepperonis with a layer of cheese. The sauce was very bland. The eggplant in the sandwich was great but the bread was chewy and light on tomato sauce. Just enough cheese so I ate only the eggplant. Not the best tasting sandwich I've had. Over all this place is fair. Bland sauce gave the pizza and sandwich the three stars. Service was great and prices reasonable for the portion size. Hubby has leftover pizza for tomorrow and we split the salad! And I'm glad they are open during this crazy covid time. read more

Won't do that again. Not very good. Dinner salad was like a bag salad with vinegar on it. I dont think they even used oil. Ricotta on the calzone that was not ordered. I should have known any restaurant with a menu this big, probably specializes in nothing. Ordered chicken parm- chicken cooked nicely, zero flavor. Sauce was watery and tasteless. Pasta was cooked well. Fettuccine Alfredo- absolutely no flavor or richness. May have been just noodles and low fat milk. Garlic knots-very good. Spaghetti with meat sauce- at least edible, but still light on sauce and bland. Caesar salad- it's a Caesar salad. Why even "give" away garlic bread if it's this bad. Save it to make croutons. Staff was nice, and food was hot and ready on time. However, I would never go back or refer this restaurant to anyone. Paid $50 and threw away most. Teenage kids didn't even like it.
