Delicious! I got the rugelach and a piece of the wedge cake; my partner got the wedge cake and a raspberry chip cookie. Everything was fresh and great. One minus in our experience was the utterly clueless person who took our order. From their bagels to their sandwiches - everything we had was delicious. The only reason they are getting 4 stars instead of 5 was because we had a very long wait for two sandwiches the first time we were there over the weekend. Everyone around us was getting their food - and they were in line behind us! It's definitely a great place to go for everyone - they had some great vegan and vegetarian options. Heck - I am a meat-love, but the vegetarian sandwich I ordered (Jonah's Jive) was absolutely delicious. I've had better bagels and the egg was microwaved, the way the cheese was melted made it greasy.. bacon was okay but not enough. I had a hot tea and was glad to see it was equal exchange.. my usual brand. My daughter got a cream cheese bagel and a coffee.. it was alright. Their other pastries and things looked okay but regular run of the mill. For a large bakery I expected more. We went to the one in the shopping mall not the one downtown. To check out, you have to walk by the bakery items and we got sucked into trying the peanut butter bar and the cinnamon roll. Those were both delicious as well! Rumors true... our beloved bakery for 4 years has gone downhill. 1 star for serving me burnt avocado toast, and the avocado was bitter. 5 stars for righting the misstep by replacing with a panini sandwich. 1 star for my table being sticky, so sticky that the napkins I used to cover are now glued to the table. One of my favorite places!! The food is always excellent, the coffee is perfect, and staff is so friendly. Ithaca bakery is our favorite place to go for quick breakfast/brunch dates. And they're super accommodating! Busy food establishments can be really hard for me to handle and my service dog often works double time when we're in them. The staff has always been kind about me needing time and a little help. We often sit outside to wait for food too and several times the staff have gone out of their way to come hand us our food. Next, I ordered my food and was asked for my phone number so they could text me when it was ready. 30 min later, I went inside to check on why it was taking so long, and the guy at the register said, "Oh, it's waiting right here on the counter." No acknowledgement or apology that they didn't text me, just a bland stare that. The food was good but I definitely felt like I was just in the way for them to close (I ordered my food a little after 6 and they close at 7). I have a love/hate relationship with Ithaca Bakery. Their selection of sandwiches and bakery items are hard to beat, and the soup and hot bar selections can be pretty delicious... ...that said, there are two big cons: price and service. The sandwiches on the menu are pricey for what you get. Also, it takes for-freakin'-ever for your food to get prepared, even when there's barely anybody in the place. I'm not sure if it's because they're disorganized or just not effectively prepared for service on a regular basis, but be prepared for a wait whenever you visit (even worse if it's at one of their prime service times). There's also not a lot of space from which to wait for a takeout order unless you want to go wait at a table... and waiting at a table can be hit-or-miss, because sometimes I'd had my name squeaked out so lightly into the microphone once my order *is* ready that neither my friend nor I heard it. And yet I still have favorite items from Ithaca Bakery (the Lindsay, West End Melt, or Stewart Parker among them...as well as the groundnut stew available from time to time as a soup option). I even stopped at this location once before heading to the airport to catch an initial flight for a trip to see my grandmother. My grandmother had worked at Cornell for years and she and her colleagues had been obsessed with the Southwest Sourdough bread. For my first trip to visit after she moved away from Ithaca, I took a loaf of Southwest Sourdough down with me on the trip and she was giddy as could be about having one of her favorite breads from an Ithaca staple. TL;DR I avoid it unless I have a very specific craving...that's the only time the price and wait time seem worth it. read more

Came here for lunch around 2 on a Wednesday, was not super busy so was able to park without a problem. If you have people with different needs/wants this is a great option. Their menu is very extensive when it comes to sandwiches. We ordered the octopus (turkey sandwich with coleslaw on pumpernickel) and the vegetarian Parmesan sandwich. Both did not disappoint. At first we were going to take to go because we had a 2 hr drive back home but there was no way I could eat the turkey sandwich in the car. The size of the sandwich was also huge, like enough for 2 people or leftovers but I don't think it would hold up with the coleslaw. They also have a cute little bench area with a chalkboard for kids and their outside seating is covered to keep you out of the rain. Laughably small bread with 3 ounces of VERY salty, (and I love salt) fatty, room temperature corned beef, (See photos.) A barely discernible smear of Mayo when I asked for Russian, and two pieces of sad wilty lettuce. Been in food service my entire career. That sandwich was a joke. This place was absolutely amazing from top to bottom! The customer service and the food were both outstanding. I stopped in here after hiking at Taughannock Falls and I'm so happy that I did. I had a Laura's Sweet Surprise sandwich which was so delicious. My friend had an Autumn Sky and she said it was delicious. The baked goods were so pretty and they even offered free samples if you were curious about anything. I love the setup of the shop and how you could browse through all of the local goodies they sell and then pay for everything all at once at the end. I can't wait to go back! read more

This place is great. I usually go to Collegetown Bagels, but I liked giving another place that they own, Ithaca Bakery, a chance as well. The concept is just like Collegetown. You order, get a number, and then sit down wherever you'd like, either inside or outside, and they find you when your food or beverage is done. There are samples of muffins and other baked goods when you go to order. I tried one and it was moist and delicious. I ordered the Brooklyn, which consisted of a bagel with bacon and eggs. It was good, however, it would have been better if there were some cream cheese on it. Next time, I'll have to add some veggie cream cheese. The coffee was good as well. The service was great, and they work really hard finding the right numbers to give people what they ordered. read more

We ordered Thanksgiving dinner from Ithaca Bakery, which was advertised as a full turkey dinner, with stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. First of all, the turkey they gave us was deli turkey - this wasn't carved Thanksgiving turkey, but rather, the kind of turkey you'd get at the deli at Wegman's. Imagine our surprise when we remove it from the fridge on Thanksgiving day and see our $60 dinner - deli turkey. Second, the portions of all of the sides - stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, etc. - were tiny. They tasted fine, but a "four-person dinner" was probably big enough for two or three people. read more

Really great experience. There is seating inside and outside. You order your sandwiches first, they give you a ticket and you can shop around for local products before checking out, and while waiting to check out you can look at pastries and decide on coffee. We stopped here just to have dessert and coffee. The pastry selection was okay, but they fell short on quality. I had a passover tart that was dry on the top half and like a brick on the bottom, that I had to saw through like wood. I took it back, and they gave me a regular fruit tart to make up for it, but the tart shell was like hard tack. My wife had a mini cherry cheesecake, and for some reason, it was covered in a really hard, bland frosting. We've had a better experience with pastries at price chopper. read more

The coffee is very good, however the food is a rip off. I paid $7.00 for a gluten free Brooklyn bagel. The bagel was the size of my hand. The description said scrambled eggs with bacon but I only got one egg which looked to be cooked over hard, and barely any bacon. You are clearly paying for the atmosphere and not the food quality or portions. Would not recommend eating here, but the cold brew and lattes are delicious (still expensive though). Whenever my family and I head to Ithaca, we make sure that the Ithaca Bakery is on our list of stops. It's way more than just a bakery which you would never realize from the outside. Once you come in you'll find breakfast, lunch, dessert, and beer all in one place! My father is handicap and it's so easy for him to get his wheelchair in here at a table and get good food. The menu options have such a variety of Vegan, Vegetarian, and meat lovers options. Most of the options all are made from local farmed sources which makes my heart happy. I love local restaurants that support local farmers. My kids have plenty of options as well such as chicken fingers & PB &J. There is also a cooler filled with some fresh cut fruit and yogurt, perfect for the littles. As well, they have a hot bar in the center in which you can go up and make a plate. Last time we were there it was all breakfast assortments of eggs, sausage, waffles etc. As well as all of their sandwich/ panini options, you can create your own! Everything is fresh and delicious, you can't go wrong with any of hte options. One of my tips would be to get there early. We usually arrive around 11am to beat the rush. There are a few nice chairs up around the bar area too that I'm sure fill up quickly around happy hour time. First off - the coffee is really good here! We were expecting just regular coffee but we were surprised. Skip Starbucks or Dunkins. We had breakfast here for two days and both times the food was good and we had a great experience - Portions are good. It can get very crowded here and seating is very tight, be sure to have someone grab a table or counter and have another person wait on line to place the order. We had the cuban and italian paninis; food from the breakfast buffet; King Dustin's hoagie and the Milanese. You get a number and someone will bring the food to your table. There is a front and back lot where it fills up quite quickly. Street parking is also available. read more
