Been wanting to go here for a long time. Took a chance on a Friday night. This tiny treasure was packed, but we only waited a few minutes before we were seated. We were greeted immediately, and ordered drinks. Good size. Well made. We ordered Korean spiced wings and garlic fries for apps., and short rib bibimbap for dinner. The wings were bomb: crispy, saucy, and they came with coleslaw (brilliant!). The fries were outstanding. I don't think they're hand cut, but they were cooked just right, and that roasted garlic sauce is amazing. Loved the bibimbap, but I wish I had read beyond short rib, because now I'm disappointed I didn't get the spicy pork. There's always next time. Great dinner, great service, and fair in price. This isn't the first time I've been to Ivy Tavern but this time was especially excellent. Walking into a packed bar is sometimes tough when trying to get a bar seat. We we able to catch two people leaving right as we walked in and were immediately greeted by the male serving and then by our bartender. Our bartender Abby was phenomenal! She was able to help my boyfriend pick out a beer on tap when he was indecisive. And she was so helpful finding me a cocktail to enjoy, she made it by scratch and with enthusiasm. She kept conversation throughout our stay even though she had a full bar the entire time. I'll definitely be back and hopefully Abby will be our bartender again! Service was awesome!! read more

What a wonderful place! The Ivy Tavern is probably my favorite restaurant in Providence. Unlike most sports bars, the Ivy Tavern feels cozy and friendly. It attracts a good crowd and you find a lot of families there. The burgers and sandwiches are consistently great, and I'm a big fan of their mussels and garlic fries. While I'm not a vegetarian, their vegetarian offerings are generally good (their feta salad can be a little salty though). Service is quick and responsive. read more

Ok, Bim Bim Bap is good but "as is" is a bit of a problem. The bulgogi with egg and veggies is pretty decent, but the Bim Bim Bap sauce is a hybrid sauce that is not really a Bim Bim Bap sauce. It is a bit sweet and not spicy enough. So basically you need to use "sriracha" to spice the meal. This is not preferable as usually an extra hot sauce fixes the problem or some red chili powder. I added a bit of vinegar to moisten the bowl, and all in all the Bim Bim Bap was good. The price is a full 14.00 plus, so to have Bim Bim Bap without Kimchee is not good at all. There are no sides at all. Everyone who eats Bim Bim Bap knows how Kimchee balances the meal. So to pay full price, but not have a full meal is problematic. EVERYTHING here is absolutely amazing! My husband and I are frequent customers, like, we come here once, maybe twice a week (its that good!)...What is really great is that the food is always consistent, I can always count on knowing what I order will be as delicious (or better!) as the last time. A wonderful spot to swing by and watch the World Cup semi finals (or really any sporting event). Serious bar goers: don't be put off by the picture. You'd never find a child here after dark. Wouldn't recommend for any youngsters looking to skate by with a flimsy fake, the staff takes their job seriously, despite the fact that the American drinking age does nothing besides encourage a binge drinking culture by forcing young adults to drink in secret and find alcohol through fraternities and select skeevy bars, but this issue is much bigger than this respectable establishment (side note: they're hiring). Not too crowded, and not a sausage fest either! Satisfactory 3:5 female to male gender ratio, a pleasant surprise on this beautiful Tuesday afternoon. Visited here for the first time last weekend with some friends and we had a great time. We lucked out since it was a rainy night as we were able to snag a table for 7 pretty quickly despite it being a weekend. The wait staff was extremely nice and funny, not to mention helpful. Everyone ordered something a little different, and everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. I, myself, ordered the Korean BBQ wings and they were cooked to perfection. They were slightly breaded and had a nice crunch to them. The flavor was perfect as well. I definitely intend on going back soon to try their other flavors. Everyone else that ordered burgers raved about them, so I guess I'll need to come back a few more times to dabble in everything that the Ivy Tavern has to offer! Ivy Tavern ruined chicken wings at any other place for me forever. Your Korean spicy bbq wings are the best wings I have ever had. The Korean wing restaurant up the street doesn't do better. I always get the five alarm chicken sandwich-love the grilled bread and spicy sauce. The fish and chips is perfectly cooked and delicious and the fish happens to be the size of my face. I won. Simple fact. I won fair and square. In the battle of ordering burgers, one elitist Laura S. may have her fancy words and garlicy fries (which were admittedly delicious, heartburn aside), but her cow chunk did not compare to the explosion that happened in my mouth in ordering the aptly named "accidental purist" veggie burger. The conniving linguist Laura S. tried to weave you into her web of lies by integrating several truths: the service was great, the drink list decent, and the atmosphere comfortably casual. And I'll admit that I agree - God wants us to eat animals (I mean, let's be fair, if not why would they be made of meat?). That, however, is where the truth ends and the shenanaganry begins. Laura S. ordered a hunk of cow on a bun. It tasted generic, and to be frank, boring. In fact, if I were rating Ivy Tavern on her burger alone, I would probably give it one star (maybe a bonus star for the garlic fries, but then again, the war was a burger one, and I will not allow that temptress to hold her fries hostage). However, I didn't give this place one star, because I'm a better orderer, which in my book makes me a better person. That said, instead of boring cow lump with burger-king esque options (sure you can have it your way, but isn't that way you go to restaurants, so they put together delicious flavor combos and you can sit back and let your meal happen to you?), my inadvertent kill-free meal combined sweet caramelized onions and thinly sliced apples with hunks of melting brie cheese holding it all together. There happened to be a hippie patty in there somewhere, but that was simply a vehicle to deliver the melting medley to my drool hole without having to share any with my clothing or the floor. I think the patty was good too, but really, would it matter? We're talking BRIE CHEESE here ladies and gents! In the convenience of a burger form! I'm pretty sure that's what heaven is actually made out of, and Lauren has the audacity to compare boring beef patty with add-ons to heaven? Sounds seriously disturbed if you ask me. So if you agree that this angelic amalgamation of the best ingredients sounds like a better order than Laura's plain old meat mass, please mark this review as 'useful,' giving me the glory I deserve for my win. I would recommend the Korean wings or garlic fries to start, then for an entree the Bimbimbap and Fish and Chips are both incredible. I came here tonight specifically for the burger which many of the wonderful folks in the yelp community rave about. I love love a good burger but I can be kind of picky about them. I don't really like it when restaurants get carried away with them and try to make em fancy so they can charge a stupid amount of money for em. All I want is a well cooked burger on an ordinary bun, throw some bacon on the fucker and charge me under $10 and we're in business. The Ivy Burger I'm happy to say did not disappoint. Best burger in Providence so far. I ordered the vegetarian option that comes with brie and granny smith apples and put it on a juicy meat patty. It was bliss. I wanted to eat the whole thing, but couldn't. Atmosphere is low key, but don't be deceived by the open tables - they are cleaning them off for the three other parties before you, so hold your horses buddy and get a drink at the bar. read more

The Ivy Tavern is a such a wonderful and unique spot. It's been my favorite bar/pub in Providence for a number of years. The draft list is always awesome with reliable options like Guinness, but also with options from local craft breweries as well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about different options. However, it's really the stellar food menu that earns this establishment 5 stars. Wonderful oysters. Absolutely terrific sandwiches and burgers--please try the amazing Korean pork sandwich! I have been coming to this bar for several years now and I can say that whenever I'm in the mood for a good "real" burger I go to Ivy. This place always delivers. Real burger meaning thick. Not what you get at Johnny Rockets or any other chain like that. You can get the burger with a variety of cheeses, toppings, and even ciilli. I usually get it medium with caramelized onions. I sometimes alternate this with their Turkey Kinkade which is good alternative if your in the mood for something lighter. If your health conscious order it with the dressing on the side. I have done both. My wife and a few of our good friends who are vegetarian love their veggie burger. It's a veggie burger that's served with green apples and brie. I've had my fair share of veggie burgers and I have to admit that this a very good one. It's flavorful not gritty, which I hate. I think it's pretty amusing that a place that has primarily upscale pub food has such a great vegetarian option. The owner is usually behind the bar bar tending, greeting people as they come in, and thanking them on their wait out. He'll also be helping at the grill or with service. I like to see that in an owner. It shows that he's completely vested in his business and in providing a good dinning experience for his patrons. Service has always been pleasant and friendly. When it's busy the service can be a little on the slow side, but it's nothing that's intolerable. If it was I wouldn't have continued to come here at least once a month. 2-3 if it's been a particularly difficult month. Prices are fair for both food and drink. It does get crowded, especially on warm nights, but the people are always pleasant and easy going. But seriously it's a bar. Bar full of people means their doing something right. I've been part of a large group on several occasions and we've always have had a great time. This place gets five stars because I have yet to have a bad experience. Normally we love this place, foods great & the service is usually okay if you sit at the tables. The bar is always great. Today we called to see if they did take out & the women who answered put me on hold by putting the phone on the counter. The thing is she stayed right there talking to someone about how much she "didn't care" about the people she put on hold & how in fact she didn't like people who came in there at all, etc etc. Needless to say we hung up & will think twice before going there again. The burgers are delish! Best I've had since moving to Providence. The 2 alarm chicken was closer to 0 alarm chicken and was just kinda meh. Garlic fries were totally worth the stench. Make sure your dinner companions also consume them or you will be the lone stinky person!
