Went here for the first time last night and I was very satisfied with the food! I got the Bulgogi sandwich which was pretty good. The side of cole slaw was well done, was not overdressed like many places. There's a pretty good beer selection. I sat at the bar and our bartender was very attentive and friendly. The star of the night...was the garlic fries! This stuff is crack! The best I ever had, it's a must try!!!! I was salivating from the garlicky aroma coming from the kitchen...will definitely be back. GARLIC FRIES. What dreams are made of. Burgers are also very good. Be forewarned that it is a small place and gets pretty busy Friday evenings. Last time I got the spicy pulled pork sandwich which I didn't like too much, which is weird because I love pulled pork and I usually like spicy, but it was too spicy for me and I just didn't like the flavor (sriracha-y spicy, not peppery barbecue which I was expecting). We went here for Game 7 of the Celtics play-offs. Great, friendly mixed crowd in a small neighborhood bar with lots of character. Several yummy local beers and microbrews on tap. Staff was solicitious, friendly, and very good-humored considering the loud crowd. We stuck to appetizers and pub fare, but the chili cheese fries were SUPERB and gigantic- seriously could feed six people, maybe more. The chicken wings are like small fried chicken drumsticks with a zippy green herb sauce, not your typical buffalo wings at all. Burgers were also very good, perfectly cooked, with some interesting flavors. Hope to get here again for dinner when its less crowded! read more

No kidding, and I'm 48, so I've had a lot of fish sandwiches. A lovely brioche bun, a PERFECTLY FRIED slab of cod loin (massive, not chintzy) and a lovely mayo, pickle and some bacon as well as cole slaw in this sammie make a mouthful of memories. The Ivy has one of the best burgers I have had. Another favorite of mine is the Accidental Purist, a veggie burger with carmelized onions, brie and apple slices. This place introduced me to bibimbop, and then spoiled me for all other versions that I've had at other places since then. They also have amazing burgers. A decent beer selection but it's the fantastic pub food that pulls me in. The dining area is small but comfortable and the waitstaff is always friendly and prompt. They make the best burger and town and almost all the meals are served with an incredible amount of delicious fries.... a plus or a minus depending on if your trying to watch the old waste girth. I've tried most of the menu and have been consistently happy with the reasonable prices and quality of the food. My family and I, were in town looking at schools for our son. We arrived in Providence, RI around 6pm, and checked into our hotel. Tired from a long day, we searched for a place, and came upon the Ivy Tavern. There were some good reviews, however, none explained that they make the best Burger on EARTH.... We are a native NYC family, and I've had great burgers. However, There is no comparison to the Ivy Tavern Burger! Can't wait to get back.. Order the fish sandwich and garlic fries, it will be the best decision you will make all day, all week in my case. It ranks as one of the tastiest fish sandwiches I've ever had in my entire life. My garlic fries had my mate passing me Altoids. It was that good! Someone else commented that this "gourmet pub food." Great description. You won't get your normal lousy pub food here. Everything on the menu is unique and extraordinary, and that's why it stands out. Best burgers around. Hands down. Glad to see that the menu hasn't changed much - IT DOESN'T NEED CHANGING! As others mentioned, I have noticed a few differences since it re-opened: the croutons and the blue cheese have been downgraded to cheaper versions, as mentioned and a few great things that used to be on the menu have been replaced with less great dishes. And sadly, things like salad dressing is the difference between a salad and The Best Salad Around. There are two things that make the Ivy the absolute best restaurant on the East Side: The fresh, delicious food, and the bartender. Should either of those things change, they Ivy would be different restaurant. I'd hate to see this place turn into Just Another Bar and I think all the regulars are nervous that it's turning into something other than the Ivy. So definitely go eat here. Sit at the bar or grab a table. Watch the game. Sample anything on the menu and be pleased - portions are huge so you are almost guaranteed leftovers. Drink any of the many delicious craft beers the awesome bartender has to offer. Bring your friends and your family...but keep in mind this is a Tavern and not very kid friendly, as Taverns are not meant to be. I'd hate for your kid to learn the words that come out of our mouths while we all sit around watching the Sox lose. read more

Tucked into a fancy part of the East Side and surrounded by places like Blaze and KitchenBAR, the Ivy is a nice low-key place to grab a beer and a burger. We loved this place! It is small, but has a great vibe and a good amount of seats at the bar if the tables are full. We have had the fish sandwich, the Bulgogi steak sandwich, onion rings, a house salad, and the GARLIC FRIES!!! All of the food has always been delicious, but the garlic fries are Ah-mazing. The vegetables in the salad are always fresh and crisp, which was frankly not what I was expecting from a bar/pub place. Definitely worth a visit. read more

This place was delicious and we will certainly be back! Our server was very kind and I brought a group of 7 for a friend's birthday. He was unable to guarantee seating as they do not take reservations, but explained how they will do what they can. They allowed me to drop off the birthday cake early before the birthday girl's arrival. When we arrived at 6:30p, it was nice to see a table set aside for 6 untaken. The server immediately brought another chair to the table as he remembered me. He was awesome and had an excellent memory, never writing any of our orders down. One of my friends had the seafood chowder and said it was delicious. We heard amazing things for their wings that one of our other friends' had. We heard their onion rings were delicious from two people in our party. All of our burgers were absolutely delicious and cooked very well to all of our likings. We split the feta attraction and that was tasty with a nice block of feta! I had the accidental purist burger with a real burger and it was very juicy and tasty!! I had it cooked medium rare and it was cooked perfectly!! The garlic fries were great as well as the regular fries! I was very impressed with the service as our waiter was really good and friendly. He was able to joke with us and he was able to accept multiple payments via credit card, which can be a major pain. He also brought out the birthday cake right away when our meal was complete without me asking! He absolutely surprised the birthday girl and had plates and a knife for us to cut the cake. I'll definitely be coming back here! The down side of this place is that they don't have their own parking lot, but besides that it is worth to find a spot on a side street to come inside for this food! Also, the place is small inside so it is limited seating, but it was nice inside. It was just quite warm in the area we were sitting but besides that the service and food was amazing! Good burgers! The accidental purist with bacon is great. I'm always dissapointed by their sides though - fries, cole slaw or pasta salad. I'm not a big fan of cole slaw in general, and if I'm avoiding fries the chances are that I'm avoiding pasta salad. They do let you sub a side salad (which isn't suggested anywhere on the menu), but it's never clear how much $ (if any) they charge for that. read more

The garlic fries are amazing! I would come back just for these fries. My burger was delicious as well (a veggie burger with feta and an olive type spread) but I'm still dreaming about these fries. I love Ivy Tavern! The drinks are stiff- the staff is great- & the food is bangin'. What more could you ask for? I saw my beloved Ivy Tavern only had 4 stars and I was like "What up with that?" ...My husband and I go there a lot. Usually for just some cocktails (& Chex-mix, if you ask really nicely)... occasionally we do order food- and have had nothing but A+ experiences. Such as... The bimbipop (Ugh not even auto correct can help that one)... but its AWESOME! It's a big bowl of deliciousness- with meat, rice, veggies,& tones of other goodies that I can't recall right now- but YUM, ta' the YUM. *Lets move on to the burgers- Quarter Pound (Maybe... fractions were never my strong point) of juicy, meaty, burger-ness-awesomeness! ...When I read some of the neg. reviews it was always "I really wanted to like this place but....." Now lets not get this twisted here folks: This is not a fine dining experience, its a cool, down-to-earth pub with some good food, good prices & good drinks. I highly recommend! read more
