Came on a Tuesday evening right before CES, and it was so unbelievably busy. We had to wait almost 30 minutes before we were seated. I don't think they are usually this busy though, as they were definitely understaffed that evening. Service was consistent throughout the night, and the servers were cheerful and doing their best to take care of everyone. The restaurants design is very relaxed, with some optional bar seating to watch the chefs cook and roast the skewers, with additional options for booths. After 10 PM, they offer a happy hour special with $5 hand rolls, cheap drinks, and basically half off of all their skewers, potatoes, and small bites. On the particular evening that we went, either they were extra busy and had too much customers from CES... but they ran out of sushi rice and did not have any hand rolls....How does a Japanese restaurant run out of rice??? We were super disappointed and ended up just getting skewers. Itzakaya Tora, you definitely need to step up your game and have better management in the future for these big events. I don't think they are that new of a restaurant, but they definitely let me down. Chicken and pork skewers ($2 per skewer, 7/10) - super juicy! You can definitely taste the charcoal and barbecue flavor. They do a great job of keeping each skewer, moist and juicy, that I didn't feel like I was eating burnt skewers like you get at some other restaurants. - $2 per skewer is pretty good for the happy hour deal, but I think it's much more expensive during the regular menu option. Don't think it would be particularly worth it with their regular menu. Overall, super disappointed that they didn't have any more of their sushi, rice and best do not have any $5 hand rolls during their happy hour. Also, the wait was super long to get in, and they were definitely understaffed. If they had all their food selections available, this would probably be a higher rating, but the long weight and lack of menu items was super disappointing. read more

I went here for dinner with a buddy of mine recently and wanted to write a review because I've been here like four times this year. I have come by for happy hour multiple times which is when they do these $5 hand rolls, I could be wrong but I believe they are $5. I recall getting yellowtail and it's delicious. Izakaya Tora is a Japanese restaurant off of paradise really close to the strip and the sphere. It is fairly small, but they have non ayce sushi which does = higher prices but better quality. They have a pretty large menu of kitchen items, sake and drinks, and sushi and sashimi. At this visit we shared a scallop crudo that we liked, a yellowtail crudo that we loved, lamb chops were good, and I believe three rolls. One of the rolls we didn't like because they make the srirachi in house which was more sweet than spicy, but the others were good. I do like this place but it is not a quick stop type of place. It's a spot you come and hang out and take your time. Food can take some time but worth it with the quality and taste. It is also not cheap so more a quality over quantity situation. Service can be a little slow but pleasant. Overall I do like this spot for happy hour if I want a late night drink and bite of sushi. read more

Pro-tip: They have some good deals for their happy hour. Highlights: The food items on the happy hour menu you are well priced. I thought the miso corn ribs, and the pork belly skewer were the best. My husband really liked the Otani sliders as well. They are open late. Lowlights: Honestly it was the worst service I've gotten in a while. No one greeted us when we got in, the one waitress was too busy closing other people's tabs to seat us. They didn't bring us the happy hour menu and I had to ask for it. They are also out of so many things on their menu. Even our food came out, we didn't have any plates, utensils, napkins to eat with. Stumbled upon their late night happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by the food! We wanted a small snack and tried their handrolls, a few yakitori skewers, corn ribs, and fried mushrooms. For the price, it's not comparable elsewhere! Our favorites were definitely the corn ribs and fried mushrooms. The corn ribs had a miso glaze on it that was both sweet and savory. We loved it so much, we got seconds! As for someone who doesn't like mushrooms, I actually enjoyed how thin and fried their fried mushrooms were. Who would've thought I'd have a change of heart! This place unfortunately does not have great customer service as my wife and I had to ask multiple times to get basic dining items such as chopsticks and plates and napkins on different occasions. We were surprised that the waitress was not aware that we were missing essential dining items during the entire process. Another disappointing aspect of dining here was that we came for the late night happy hour and half of their drink options were out of stock. I had to navigate to ordering from the regular menu and even many options on the regular menu, we're not available. I was quite shocked the food that we were able to order were tasty especially the pork skewers and the duck skewers but unfortunately, I don't think I will visit here again. read more

Lots of food on the menu and all actually very very good!! I loved the menu. There's sushi, rice, noodles, yakitori, lots of snacks/bar foods. Would recommend for sure. Service was ok. Not sure what the hype is about but only thing that stood out was the service. Came in on a Friday around 1710 and there was no one seated...that should've keyed us in to the popularity. We left around 1830 and only 2 other couples were dining in...so that should also key you in on what others really think. Do not get the poke bowl, you'll be disappointed. The crispy rice sushi is just ok...better than the other 2 rolls we had Alligator and can't remember the other one. For the value and Yelp hype, it was very underwhelming. A Hidden Gem That Hits Every Note!! Izakaya Tora in Las Vegas completely blew me away. We went all in and tried nearly everything on the menu, and not a single dish missed. I went in over the weekend and wanted a Baked Salmon roll and forgot which one I ordered but I did not like the salmon! I ordered this roll to go if that makes a difference. The salmon seemed like it was half raw (instead of fully baked) which made the texture rubbery. I didn't like it. I was expecting fully baked, buttery salmon, so to feel the tougher texture threw everything off to me. Tbh, for $21 a roll, I was a little disappointed. Since this place had good reviews, I'd be willing to try other dishes like Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice. The ambiance in there was nice. I'd say it was dressy-casual. Came here we were in the mood for some yakitori. It was a mistake-- the meal was extremely disappointing. We tried the sirloin cap, beef tongue, chicken oyster, negi shio thigh, and shishito peppers. They wait to grill all the yakitori before bringing it out so some of it arrives cold. They did however replace some of the skewers, but none were very tasty, and I'm not used to the tongue coming out in a rolled slice like that for yakitori. We also ordered the yellowtail carpaccio which was so-so and some nigiri that wasn't the greatest. The chutoro tasted super old; I spit it out to make sure I didn't get sick. The salmon and unagi were decent, but the scallops were lightly torched which I'm not a fan of. The restaurant seems poorly run. There was no hostess, so some parties had to wait a quite a bit before being greeted and sat. We even saw a party leave because it took too long to be greeted. The server seemed slammed (maybe not enough of staff?). They also didn't have enough menus for each person in our party of 3. And the yakitori seems to have no quality control as it doesn't come out hot. The house sake costs $28. We stopped by Izakaya Tora for their 10:30pm happy hour. The $5 hand rolls were a bit disappointing--smaller than expected, and the California roll was just a plain, unseasoned crab stick. The spicy salmon hand roll was better, and the eel one was okay. We also ordered the torikawa, pork belly skewer, tempura mushrooms (one of my favorites), miso corn ribs (also tasty), and gyoza. We got the drunken yakisoba (not part of happy hour), and it was still solid. No wait to be seated, and the place wasn't crowded. The inside is clean and quiet, good for conversation. Total came out to about $83. Our waitress was extremely kind and helpful and she always checked in on us to make sure we were taken care of. read more

Absolutely love this place. The environment was great and so were the staff. They're very knowledgeable, quirky, and sweet. The meals were beautifully assembled, and they all tasted AMAZING! After 9 PM, they start having happy hour-- the papas bravas is on there, and it's one of my favs. It has to be because one of my fav fruits is Yuzu, and they drizzle it in some kind of yuzu sauce. It's so flavorful that I went there the next night just to get them lol Other items I've tried were the salmon hand rolls, super salmon specialty roll, and the spicy tuna crispy rice. The one factor these items have in common-- crispiness (my fav texture in food). Perfectly crispy and flavorful. I also tried the Pork & Peaches which I thought sounded sooooo weird, like come on.. that's such a strange combination, right? But oddly enough, the combination does work-- the peaches were crisp & sweet enough to cut through the hearty pork texture & flavor. I was very hungry the other night after dropping my man at the airport and this is located only 10 mins away. It was 10pm roughly and only 2 tables and 1 bar seat occupied so they were winding down. I initially ordered pick up but figured I'd just dine in. the hostess was quick in the beginning and helpful. I ordered a couple more side since I set down which were miso soup and seaweed salad. The food was good. I noticed some yellowing inside my tuna skewer but figured it was maybe marinade or sauce stain so didn't think more of it. All the flavors were good and not overbearing so I was happy. Fast forward to the next morning, I experienced a loose stole for about 36 hours and it had to be from this meal. Our server was very friendly and made great recommendations on what to order. The restaurant is nicely decorated and very clean! We ended up ordering a lot of food since we were very hungry. My husband ordered some skewers (ume-shiso thigh, pork belly, negi shiso thigh) and we shared kimchi bacon fried rice, Tora's tori (garlic soy), Midori Man roll and a spicy tuna roll. We enjoyed everything that we ate and had a great time. If you're looking for a nice solid place to enjoy some Izakaya food, I recommend checking out Izakaya Tora. If you're visiting Vegas it's literally minutes away from the new Sphere. They have Japanese tapas so it's more so get a bunch of food with your group and try everything. Their yakitori is my fave too. They grill to order and you can see them grilling it to perfection. They do have an extensive sushi selection as well. Met up with my friend for dinner and after chatting about where to go we headed to a Japanese restaurant near my hotel. But along the way, we found this place and I noticed the "now open" sign... so I figured it was a new-ish restaurant and we should try it. It's located in between Tacos & Beer and The Cleaver in The Park at 3900. There was ample parking and the lot is quite well lit. There was just one table inside when we came in and we were able to take a booth. Our server Jennie was so sweet and was able to answer all our questions about the menu items. I checked in on Yelp and was able to get a complimentary specialty soda (Calpico)! We ended up getting a bunch of stuff: Gyoza Peppers - gyoza filling in a jalapeño pepper cooked tempura style with a sauce drizzled on top Osaka Papas Bravas - fried potatoes with a Yuzu aioli and salted egg yolk sprinkled on top Tempura mushroom fries - mushroom slices tempura battered and fried with a dipping sauce but I don't know what was in it. Maguro Poke Combo - salmon and tuna made poke style with avocado on top Seared Tuna Tataki - thin sliced ahi topped with microgreens on a bed of shredded daikon with a ponzu sauce. Yaki onigiri- grilled rice with furikake and a shoyu sauce Charcoal Grilled Skewers - 2 jidori chicken and pork belly Japanese Specialty Soda: Calpico - Yelp check in perk - creamy sprite-like soda. Everything we ate was super flavorful and tasty. I still can't believe how much food we ordered and how much we are. At the end we had some mushroom fries and potatoes left but everything else was gone. I usually really like yaki onigiri but there was a slight sweet flavor to the rice which I wasn't too big on. I did enjoy the fact that the rice was crispy and didn't fall apart and the sauce enhanced the taste. The lady at the table seated behind us asked what was in the bowl (talking bout the potatoes) so we shared what we thought of it. I'd recommended the potatoes over the mushroom fries if you were just getting one but don't get me wrong, the mushroom fries were really tasty just make sure you like mushrooms. Both dishes were nice and crisp and didn't taste oily (which to me is important in any fried dish). The poke and Tataki are definite one thing I would get again and I don't eat too much fish! I only ate one skewer (pork belly) which was also tasty and had a nice tenderness to it. My friend got seconds on both the chicken skewers. I'm glad we got the gyoza peppers because that was something different. Don't be alarmed that it is in a jalapeño pepper because it is not spicy at all. We also were able to have a great conversation with Jennie during our meal. What a memorable experience this was and I'm so happy we decided to stop in. I know there's a lot really great restaurants out here in Vegas but when you visit or even if you live here, time to try a new place and get your appetite and stomach to Izakaya Tora!
