We didn't intend to eat here but I saw it tucked away in the little shopping center by Durango and Warm Springs and a quick Yelp look showed 4.9 with 72 rating which sounded good for a fairly new place in an area just inundated with different Asian places. I was really excited to hear that we have an izakaya on the southwest side of town, but we for sure had some pros and cons to our first visit. Service was very slow on a Friday night. We asked for a table for 2 at 7pm with one party ahead of us and were told a 15-20 minute wait. The whole restaurant was packed and we weren't seated until 45 minutes later. Then, it took another 15 minutes to receive water and order. Also, they were out of sushi rice. The table was hastily cleaned, with pieces of food leftover from the last party. It was for sure a busy night and the servers were kind and clearly trying to keep up with the rush, but expectations weren't set clearly. As for the food, there were a few things we enjoyed and a few things that were just ok. We really enjoyed the potato salad with chili crisp and the karaage. The agedashi tofu was good, a tad salty, but was a great portion. The wagyu was delicious and a good value, maybe the best in town. We also got a house sake which was decent. But we didn't like the salmon carpaccio. There was not a lot of fish and an excessive amount of sauce. We opted to get the carpaccio because they were out of sushi rice at the moment and let us know that any rice dishes would take at least an hour to prepare. And given that we had waited 3x what we were expecting, we decided to work around it. I appreciated the clear comms but felt like we were missing out. We ordered five dishes and the total with tax and tip ended up being $111. So for sure on the pricier end for an izakaya. Horrible experience from start to finish. After being seated, it took about 10 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. While some of the food came out within 30 minutes, the rest of our order never arrived. After waiting, we finally had to ask about the missing items, only for the server to come back and ask us again what we had ordered. It then took another 30 minutes for the corn cheese to arrive and other items. Throughout all of this, there was no apology or acknowledgment of the delay. Mistakes happen, but the lack of communication, extremely long wait times, and no effort to acknowledge or correct the situation made this a very disappointing experience. read more

I feel so conflicted about this review. First I want to point out there's no sushi and there are no sushi boxes as you see on Yelp. We enjoyed everything we ate. The service was good the food was good but for the price it was not great. We had the Wagyu steak which was delicious but for $30 we expected at least something on the side. I know that's not the point of izakaya but the price point didn't see right. We also had the eggplant, the potato salad 2x which was our favorite, the salmon sashimi, 5 sushi spoons, chicken katsu. For $150 we expected to be full or maybe something else. We couldn't put our finger on it. Again, good food great service it just didn't seem to hit for the price. read more

I've been waiting for this place to open! The Menu did change since they opened but the new Menu is still Izakaya style. It is a smaller menu but still has the staples. The service is good, friendly and attentive! The interior is decorated very nicely and it's so clean. It's nice to have an Izakaya place close to home! We have passed this place a million times and finally decided to try. We came here for dinner and thankfully it wasnt busy- which I was surprised! Service was great- our server was very welcoming and friendly. Loved the feel of the restaurant and the deco was modern. Menu wasnt overwhelming but they had a lot of options. We started with Miso soup and the special which was fried tofu bites with hamachi and spicy tuna. Next came the Wagyu Salad along with Agadashi tofu, crispy rice chip and jidori chicken. I've been wanting to come here since I moved to Vegas and we finally stopped in. Immediately greeted and sat. Water, and app suggestions soon came next. Opted for the egg salad, Las Vegas Yagiya roll, and the sashimi plate. The fish was fresh, soft and delicate. A step above any of the all you can eat joints around. Do not eat here- they have new ownership and the menu is completely changed and is trying to imitate some of the dishes yagiya had with cheap ingredients and no skill. The "a5 Wagyu" was nothing but cheap American steak. The spoon sushi had cheap fish prepared poorly and didn't taste good and made us sick afterwards. We found this izakaya close to our house and will definitely be back to try more dishes. We started with the Japanese rolled omelette with eel and it was really good. I would absolutely order that again. The ama ebi was on special, so we gave it a try and I was happy with how fresh it tasted. I also enjoyed the baked crab hand roll and would not mind trying more of their hand rolls next time. Our favorite dish was the chirashi bowl. We ordered the Oda Nobunaga and it was perfect to share between my husband and me while also trying other items. The fish was extremely fresh and there were so many great flavors in the bowl. We would definitely order this again. The Las Vegas Yagiya roll also stood out with very fresh tasting fish. Overall, the quality of the food was very good. This was my first time!! since I heard that this place is Open, It's been on my list!! They are from Aichi prefecture in Japan. Finally! That was around 7pm on Tuesday... Interior there was great. I liked it. Not too much. still Japanese authenticity there. As I'm not strong drinker, Looked for the menu for light alchol drinks but there was not that much options. The server there she was very friendly and told me to ask to make one. And after she told me they can make something with white wine with sparkling drink...I said ok. The drink was not sweet at all. so I asked her again to add some sweetner like Juice or syrop. Her advice was Soda or Ramune Drink. So I picked Ramune. Ended up Mixing with Ramune, It tasted better. Hope they add the options until next time. The food we ordered was "Nobunaga Chirashi box" : It taste so good . And tiny drip of their original Soy sause made so perfect! Originally I wanted Hitsumabush and Tebasaki But they didn't have neither. And the server explained that Hitsumabushi was in Nobunaga Chirashi box didn't make sense with the visual... As a result it wasn't Hitsumabushi. just fried eel was in the Chirashi, they meant... and "Agedashi Dofu" : It was perfectly how I expected. And Delicious. Later on we ordered Karaage. and that was Japanese authentic way cooked one. with Katakuriko. Not over seasoned. I'm looking forward to visit again. Honestly i've been wanting to try out this Izakaya just based off of seeing pictures of the Tamago with Unagi, and after finally going, the rest of the menu did not disappoint. The restaurant is calming and inviting, very similar vibes to as if you're eating out in Japan. Waitstaff was genuinely friendly which was refreshing. My favorites were the Spicy Yagiya Ramen and the Maiko Roll. If you cant handle spice very well then I wouldnt recommend the Ramen, the spice really packed a punch but it was super addicting. I cant speak on any of the dishes with shellfish since i'm allergic but everything looked amazing regardless. I dont think you can go wrong with any item on their menu! After taking the ever so popular trip to Japan last year a newfound appreciation for the food of my peoples was discovered. Fast forward to this week and I stumbled across this place on Google Maps and was happy we did. Tucked away in an unassuming strip mall down the street from Durango Resort and Casino lies a hidden gem that is most deserving of being put on the map. This place captures the essence and feel of a restaurant you'd find in Japan from the decor that doesn't feel too over the top to the way they greet you upon your entrance and exit from the establishment. As you can tell by the pictures, we went HAM. In good conscience I cannot rate the dishes from most favorite to least favorite because in this case it would be like a parent ranking their favorite kids. Each dish stood out in their own right from the Miso soup to the tofu. The ramen had deep rich flavor, Takoyaki was better than some of the Takoyaki I tried in Japan to the chirashi don with fish fresher than a new pair of Js; Wow Service was attentive and didn't check in too much which allowed us to enjoy our meal and the experience. Seriously by far some of the freshest and best tasting sushi I've had. The place is small so reservations are definitely recommended. My friend and I were able to grab a table with no problem, though. The menu isn't huge but I believe that's what has kept the quality of fish and service up to par. Authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price. We recently visited Japan for the first time earlier this year and this restaurant almost makes us feel like we're back there! We've been to Izakaya Yagiya three times so far and each time was fantastic. The wagyu steak is a can't miss. And only $35! It comes with seasoned salt, which you don't really need but adds a little oomph, a small salad and a side of creamy corn and potato salad. Another favorite is the Wagyu cold udon. Wow wow wow, This place is the closest thing to authentic Japanese food outside of Japan!! I have been to Japan so I can say that. This place is so so so good. The owner is from Nagoya Japan, he brought the flavor and intensity that you get from eating in Japan. First off the inside is very calming and Japanese decor all the way. I love walking in here, the servers greet you right away and welcome you inside. They are brand new to the Vegas scene but not new to Japans flavors. I wanted to order everything on the menu. Our server had told us about specials that they had so I ordered all of them... I stated with the Japan macaroni salad, homemade tofu, also they had this tomago eel. Wow I could not stop eating. Then I got this tuna hand roll and yellow tail hand roll, as you can see in the photos it's a different style than I'm used to. Decided to try this place from the reviews, and it certainly lived up to them! For the mains, had the Oda Nobunaga Chirashi, which has bluefin tuna, salmon, snow crab, yellowtail, fried eel, albacore, boiled shrimp, cucumber, Japanese rolled omelet, seasoned rice, shiso, tobiko, and sesame in it. Quite tasty, though the sashimi pieces are smaller, so the results from dipping them in my soy sauce/wasabi mix didn't have much effect. Also got a 300 ml bottle of Kikusui Perfect Snow unfiltered sake, which I enjoyed - it has characteristic sake flavor, and when I got to the bottom of the bottle, there were distinct pieces of rice validating its authenticity. While the main dish was filling, there was a little room left for dessert. The Monaka ice cream seemed larger than I could finish, so I opted for the Homemade Matcha Pudding that has green tea pudding, whipped cream, and sweet red beans, and the combination of flavors hit the spot to finish off a great meal. Alright I've been 3 times and pleasantly surprised each time. The apps are cool, the unagi omelette egg thing is unique and I like the potatoe salad. The fried pasta stick things are interesting but not my cup of tea. The ramen...weirdly enough I didnt expect it to be great but its pretty dam good. Why you ask? cause the temperature is on point. Had Jinya the other day and guess what the ramen was cold but 2 times...TWO TIMES yagiya ramen comes out piping hot and that's what its all about baby. Fantastic rolls. We got the Ninja, Samurai, and Dragon and they were all very good. Miso soup was delicious and the karaage was bomb. Space is fairly medium-sized, probably 12 tables total. The only downside was that everything took a really long time to come out, even though there were only about five tables seated. The sake list is decent, although I was bummed to see they got rid of some interesting beers they carried for a while--the beer options are pretty boring now :-( I do very much appreciate the ambience which is laid back but still good for a date.
