This place is on the second floor of a strip mall in the middle of Chinatown. How I stumbled across this gem was I was at a Japanese festival in Henderson and bought a beef bowl (gyudon) from their booth at the event that was delicious. Visiting their location was eye opening. It was an authentic Izakaya spot. What is Izakaya? Think of it as a Japanese pub, serving snacks, small plates...the place you would go to after a full day of work to unwind. Their hours may seem a bit strange. I think they're open from 5:00 PM to 11:00 AM the next morning as they also server traditional Japanese breakfast here. I had the gyudon which is very, very good. Good flavor and a good portion size. In fact, the large order is sharable. What surprised me were some of their sashimi selections available. The quality of their fish was incredible and reasonably priced. I had the Hamachi and Chutoro sashimi which comes with their special sashimi soy. The presentation was very nice, and the portions were great - absolutely generous thick cuts of fish. I have to say, it is probably the best Chutoro I have had here in Southern Nevada, and I am comparing it to some expensive samples I have tried locally. Insider tip: They have a happy hour that starts at 9:00 PM and selections of the Chutoro and Hamachi sashimi are about $10.00...which is an unheard-of value nowadays. This is among many other happy hour specials. This is the perfect place to visit after a night out...for a night cap and some tasty snacks.

Our friends recommended this place and it was a wonderful surprise to find authentic Japanese cuisine in a small, nondescript strip mall in Las Vegas Chinatown area! Opened for dinner at 5pm. This is is the perfect Izakaya place-- it's very casual, has an old, timeless charm, very attentive service and a great selection of Japanese dishes from small bites, to noodles, to tasty chutoro, honey toast and drinks! Probably my favorites were: - Chutoro - Udon with beef and egg - Miso cod - Pork belly (order with a side of rice!) - OG Honey Toast (with miso caramel on the side) - Yuzu honey chuhai was pretty good, too Go check it out. It's only a couple of miles from the main strip! Open all night until 11am, serving authentic Japanese breakfast meal sets, too!

After a few days in Vegas, a clean Japanese breakfast is just what the doctor ordered. They have a handful of teishoku, or set meals, that are all structured around a main protein, plus a bowl of rice, miso soup, salad, and a few side dishes (kani salad, spinach ohitashi), and pickles. You essentially pick from your choice of Saba mackerel, salmon, beef, or poached egg for the protein. We ordered a Salmon Teishoku, Ozachuke with salmon flakes, and a bowl of hot udon. All of us enjoyed our meals. The food was simply prepared, nutritious, and soothing. The dashi broth of the ozachuke had a nice savory depth and was well seasoned. I liked the spinach side so much that I recreated it at home. It's the perfect meal.

Ichiza used to be the spot. But some memories are better left in the past, kind of like an old fling. You reconnect years later and quickly realize time has not been kind. Since moving to Vegas, the wife and I have been hitting up several izakayas around town, and we kept saying we needed to give Ichiza another shot, especially after they opened a second location. So we finally went on a Saturday night right at 5 PM when they opened. We grabbed seats at the bar, fully expecting the place to be buzzing like the old days. Instead, we were the only ones there for a solid 20 minutes. An empty izakaya is not exactly a great drinking vibe. It felt more abandoned than intimate. After our initial order and polishing off a pitcher of beer, we asked for the check and decided to take the night elsewhere. To be fair, the food was good. Just not nostalgia good. And the prices definitely hit harder than we remembered. Over $3 per skewer feels a little steep for something that used to feel like such a casual go-to. Once upon a time, Ichiza was unforgettable. Unfortunately, this visit was very forgettable.

The prices are unbeatable. I love the vibe inside feels like you are teleported to Japan. Everything was so good and all the fish were so fresh. Service was attentive. My favorite thing here is the honey toast and the beef tongue skewers.

My perfect Japanese breakfast...the only spot in Vegas that does it right.

A slight bit of delay in posting this review....some things are worth the wait, like great Yelp reviews. Japanese breakfast. This is my jam and makes me happy. I love it! Ichiza is the only place you will find it in the Las Vegas valley. Kiara is the server that is often floating around. She is nice and pleasant. Respects the space of letting me eat in piece or linger if I have brought a friend. The breakfast itself is ridiculously delicious to me. The salmon is so fresh, the perfect portion and very good quality. The tray includes the perfect balance of plum (up change), pickles, dicon, crab salad, salad and green tea. I became familiar with Japanese breakfast many years ago in Tokyo and eating hotel breakfasts. It fits into my personal healthy lifestyle. I love it and want to include it in my mornings when I can. I can make and eat some items from home, but Ichiza is the only place I have found in the Las Vegas valley where you can enjoy it in a restaurant setting, Japanese breakfast is the only reason I go to Ichiza on random midweek days. On that note, I do show up at 9-10am on some days and get shooed out because they are not open and making breakfast that morning. We Japanese breakfast eaters are a niche, so I think if they have no patrons most of the morning, they close early. If I have come maybe eight times for breakfast only, maybe 4 of the times I was the only person there. Two of the times, I was shooed away. The other two times, there were older Asian patrons there with me. The place is quiet and peaceful during the AM hours. Thank you Ichiza for offering Japanese breakfast. You do it well and I am grateful....except when I am shooed away (but I will still come and take the gamble).

Ichiza 1 is great place for late night munchies or just dinner in general! Me and friends were visiting Vegas and wanted to get away from the strip for some Asian cuisine. Service was very accommodating and the food came out quickly. We tried a bit of everything and nothing really missed. My favorites were the beef tongue and the bluefin dishes. Both came out perfect. Overall rating: 4.5/5

I have no idea why I never wrote a review for this place. We came here a lot about 20 years ago, possibly, every trip to Vegas. Then, we started exploring other restaurants. On a recent trip, friends wanted to eat here so we tagged along. The food was as good as I remembered. I really enjoy izakaya style so you can order a bunch of stuff and share. My fave is always the grilled onigiri. SO good. The grilled skewers are also delicious, especially the shiitake mushroom, chicken wings, okra and chicken with umeboshi. Service was lovely as well. *Some photos are from previous trips.

Grateful for the opportunity to try their Chef Naka pop up! Got a reservation for 6:30 pm and the restaurant was pretty calm. Started off with a drink, but can't remember what it was called. However it tasted like a grapefruit soda. The food was served promptly since everything was all preordered. The Brie Tempura was okay. Definitely unique and different, but was a bit off tasting to me. The miso soup was perfect temp. Basic and good. The Main Entrees included a traditional Egg dish, which had a flavorful demiglaze. The egg was perfectly and softly cooked! Paired with the tomato rice was a match made in heaven. In addition we ordered the Wagyu Katsu: it was good! The curry was also very strong, so I didn't get a lot of richness from the meat unfortunately. I wish the curry was on the side next time. Desserts: 1. Lavendar Creme Brule: just the perfect touch of lavendar. Lovely balance of floral and sweetness. 2. Mango Cream Cheese: it was good. I loved the mango flavor, but the only thing I disliked was the crust at the bottom. It just didn't flow very well. The ambiance is nice and welcoming. I also love the traditional seating, but didn't get the opportunity. Service was okay, a bit slow. I felt like the food was fast, but for water or napkins, it was a bit harder to get the attn of someone. Overall it was good but the high price tag was a bit too much in the end.

Great food served in an authentic Japanese Izakaya setting. Service is fast except for the yakitori. Not sure if it's normal but they were last to come. All in all great experience.

The service was very good. But I came during non happy hour times and I felt the prices were pretty expensive. The first time I came here was pretty late and all the food and drinks cost a lot less. I didn't order too much: 4 chicken gizzard skewers, 1 mochi and bacon, 2 hand rolls, 2 high balls- $45 total

This place is the best late night spot in Vegas. Hidden in a random shopping center in Chinatown, this place has great food, service and menu options. Good for a late night bite. Loud but vibrant place. Easy in and out. Ramen is different but good, udon is a must( add the meat), the happy hour chutoro is a must. You may wait a little for your food, but it's worth it because it is fresh. Will be back.

Fortunately, the wait was only about 10 minutes, which was surprisingly quick. I ordered the soft-shell crab, baked green mussels, and BBQ ribs with steamed rice. My son ordered the yoshu ramen and fried rice. The food came out fairly quickly, but I noticed that the baked mussels never arrived. When I asked our waitress about it, she said the kitchen was backed up. However, after waiting more than 30 minutes and already finishing the rest of our meal, it felt like the order may have simply been forgotten. What disappointed me most was the lack of an apology. The waitress even asked if I still wanted the mussels at that point. I was ready to cancel the order, but Kyo stepped in and tried to make things right. Thanks to his efforts, the mussels arrived about 10 minutes later. Unfortunately, when the mussels finally arrived, I was disappointed again. They were prepared very differently from the baked green mussels I'm used to getting at restaurants in Los Angeles. They were quite spicy, which wasn't mentioned, and the flavor just wasn't what I expected. After waiting more than 40 minutes for them, they definitely weren't worth the wait. Overall, the food was decent, and the restaurant was busy and energetic, but the service mishap and the disappointing mussels left me with mixed feelings about the experience. I do appreciate Kyo's effort to make things right, as he was the one bright spot in an otherwise frustrating situation.

I don't think they are that new of a restaurant, but they definitely let me down. Chicken and pork skewers ($2 per skewer, 7/10) - super juicy! You can definitely taste the charcoal and barbecue flavor. They do a great job of keeping each skewer, moist and juicy, that I didn't feel like I was eating burnt skewers like you get at some other restaurants. - $2 per skewer is pretty good for the happy hour deal, but I think it's much more expensive during the regular menu option. Shigotonin is a delightful discovery off the Vegas strip (but may as well be on the strip…read moreconsidering the taste and quality of food here) in a small plaza. Chef Shuji runs the restaurant with his wife next to him in the kitchen. The fish here is flown in from Japan and of the highest quality as you can see from the sheen and fat marbling. The tuna melts in your mouth and bite after bite is a wonderful experience as you pair it with soy sauce, fresh Wasabi, yuzu Wasabi, or some combination of the condiments provided. This is also the first sushi restaurant I have ever been to that automatically brings out fresh Wasabi without having to ask. The portions are generous and we left feeling very satisfied. Even though we were very full, we took a look at the dessert menu. Not pictured here is a sweet potato with ice cream and brown sugar glaze. This dish on the menu was unassuming but the taste was so decadent. Quite possibly the best and sweetest sweet potato I have ever tasted. The chef slowly roasts them over a 2 hour period, rotating the potatoes every so slightly every 15 minutes. The sweet potato could be a dessert by itself, it was that good! Chef Shuji is a charming and funny host. He regularly comes out to greet his customers and makes sure they are enjoying their meal, very high-touch. If you know Japanese - even if it's just a few phrases, speak with him as he will be delighted. He was absolutely tickled when we said arigato and he shared that he is originally from Kyoto. Cannot wait to return to Shigotonin!

**Overall: 4.75 Stars**…read more Imagine omakase but with a show. That's what you get here at Kyara Sake Bar. I went to Kyara on a date, but it wasn't the quiet or romantic kind of place I thought it'd be. Kyara had great service but they visit you every few minutes and explain things before each dish and they may cook something in front of you or show you the fish (like the actual real whole fish from the same catch you'd be eating)! When we were about to be served the wagyu beef dish, we were shown the certificate and our server explained all about the cow. I felt like I knew all about Bertha and joked that we just went through her photo album and yearbook. Like how was I supposed to eat Bertha now?!! Aiyahhhhh. Kyara may not be the romantic type of restaurant, but it was more memorable and more of an experience! It had may "wow" moments.

We had a choice for bar or table and we chose table. It was tucked in a corner so it felt intimate for me and husband. Menu was filled with some of our faves and some new things we never tried. Skewers were great esp the Wagyu- it was so good and tender. We enjoyed the agadashi tofu with was one of our faves here. Food was overall delicious and you can taste the freshness of the fish. We def want to come back and experience their dinner specials. Definitely a place to try if you're in the area
