My mom is obsessed with J. Alexander's, so we come here and order for takeout often. Here's what I've gotten: - Old Fashioned Cheeseburger ($17): Good. The burger is big. The fries are good, but they don't hold up as well in takeout. - Grilled Salmon (around $33; they list it as Market Price): This is delicious!! The salmon was grilled to perfection. The Orzo & Wild Rice side that it comes with is amaaaaazing. - Alex's Salad (add to entrée for $8): The price for adding this to an entrée has gotten higher, but the portion has gotten smaller. I get it with the champagne vinaigrette dressing and it's good, but I'm reconsidering ordering it now that it's $8 and smaller than it used to be. We recently went here for my mom's birthday and they gave us free carrot cake! It was really good! The dishes are good and the portions are fairly big, but it's pretty expensive for what it is. read more

Call me basic all you want, but I was their craving chicken tenders. Lol Went in and was able to sit at the bar. Even though it was packed, there was a 25 min wait. My guess is due to staffing. I ordered the 770, which was a drink with bourbon, blackberry, mint and ginger beer (I think). It was refreshing. My food came out hot and fresh. I subbed my coleslaw for broccoli and had the fries that came with it. They serve shoestring fries, which are not my fav, but I still enjoyed them. I was not able to finish them all. The restaurant is located on the front end of a Walmart shopping center. There's plenty of parking. We didn't have reservations. The entire restaurant is dimly lit. The restaurant was full but there was no wait. We waited for seats at the bar. It was early Friday evening and seats cleared up fast. Our bartender was Bri and she made me two really nice (read strong) Lemon drop mojitos. She was attentive as possible with a full bar. In our group we ordered chicken pasta soup, calamari, burger and steak, trout. The steak was sent back because of wrong temperature but they replaced it with the perfect temp and my friend was happy. Poor Hostess Management: Got to the restaurant at 4:40pm on Saturday, June 15. Hostess said there was a 30 minute wait and the place was virtually empty. I asked if they had a shortage of help and they said no. The hostess tried to push us to the bar and I said no. A 30 minute wait with no people waiting to get in and the place was about a third full at best. What she thinking... Did they have a lot of 5:10pm reservations all the sudden coming that they needed to have the tables for? There were 3 people at the reception desk that looked at us with that incompetent look. Alexander's several years ago and that was my first time trying Prime Rib! I loved it. For some reason I was in he mood for baked chicken... to be honest it's hard to find baked chicken near me. Baked and rotisserie chicken .. there is a difference. So after doing a search for baked chicken and seeing my limited options, J. Alexander's popped up. Plenty of parking availability and timely seating with a reservation. Our server, Armando, was attentive, efficient and friendly. I went here recently for the first time with my lady on a date. We had the spinach dip with pico de gallo it was delicious no pictures taken. I have never been so embarrassed in all my days. I bring my team out to lunch as they were in town for a business meeting. And to our stories we were literally turned away. The hostess said she could not seat us all together. We asked to be split up because I raved about the food. Again she said NO! This was very disappointing and I have eaten at this location and the one in the Forum on many occasions. Not sure why the hostess has the attitude about seating us but this one HURTS!!! We attempted to eat dinner here last night, parking lot and dining room were mostly empty. The hostess looked me up and down, informed my date and I it would be a two hour wait as we did not have a reservation.This was at 7:45 they closed at 10pm. She apparently cannot tell time. The host stand was disorganized, didn't save our contact info (name & number) so we fell out of queue leading to a longer than necessary wait time to be seated. Wait staff was attentive and amicable as always Kitchen oversalted every dish that came out. I hope this was a heavy handed sous chef filling in for the night and not representative of every night. Visiting this ATL for work and was trying to find something close to the hotel. Luckily I stumbled across this place. They were busy, but not to busy, so there was no wait. Our server was prompt and super friendly. The calamari was delicious - def worth a try! We wanted the avacado special as an appetizer but they were sold out! Had a grilled chicken salad and holy cow! Great for lunch or dinner. Inviting ambience and a solid menu with well prepared food. If you follow my reviews, then you know I usually dine at the bar. That being said, on this particular visit my experience was less than stellar. Once I was seated I noticed the extreme heat and asked the bartender was the HVAC working. I was given a mean look and told yes, it's just hot. Well hot was an understatement! The bar was also very crowded and the bartender was clearly overwhelmed and not very attentive. I was there for over an hour and didn't receive a refill on my beverage until I was leaving. In closing, I get that at some point or another most restaurants will have some sort of mechanical issue. However, the management and staff should notify customers of said issue and apologize for any inconveniences. J. Alexander's has been a favorite of mine for years, so I'll give them another shot, but definitely plan to reach out to the GM to discuss my less than pleasant dining experience. It's was ok! We ordered 2 filets and they were both over cooked. We ordered them medium and one was medium well and the other filet mignon was cooked all the way to well done. I don't think it's right to have a $40+ steak on your menu if the cooks aren't able to cook it correctly. They did remake it for us, but it was still over cooked to about a medium well. Medium well filet? Yuck. The sides and kids pasta were good. The service was simply okay. Took a long toke for the server to check in on the food and when we asked about anything on the menu she just said "it is really good" like she didn't really know much about it. This restaurant location is casual, but trending a little towards a more upscale atmosphere. I sat in the main dining room and ordered the Thai Kai Salad (without the actual peanuts), a side of Macaroni and Cheese, and a cocktail (I think it was a pear martini of sorts, but I cannot recall the name). The Thai Kai Salad was very good, and the cilantro vinaigrette with the Thai peanut sauce that the salad was dressed in added wonderful flavors to the dish. The Macaroni and Cheese was quite tasty as well, and I enjoyed my martini. My husband and I love this restaurant! It is a chain and whenever we are in a city with a J Alexander's we always make a trip for it. We get the same thing every time for the last decade because it's always delicious. Emerald city shrimp, queso, cypress salad, and steak burger. So not deviate from this and you will have an amazing meal. The only other thing we order is their clam chowder which is on Thursday's. It's fantastic as well! Yum! Highly recommend! An excellent representation of the franchise. Extremely good service and the food was fresh and delicious. The appetizers of queso & chips and shrimp were tasty. My ribeye entrée was cooked to order and the side of mashed potatoes was generous and made with quality ingredients.
