These guys are great. Recently took my M18x to them and they diagnosed it for free and after fixing one issue on it they discovered another. They could not fix the motherboard but assisted me in finding someone who could. They did not charge me for the dc repair due to it being a part of the diagnosis. This company has to be the the most honest and forthright computer repair company at a time when most 'fixers' will charge you to walk through their doors. From the owner to every technician, they are knowledgeable and experienced in hardware and software, state what they will do to fix your issues, quote you a proposed price and it is very often quicker and less than quoted. How many tech companies can that be said about? I have used their services 4-5 times for repairs and have also bought computers from them and only have the best to say about them. I highly recommend. My computer failed during COVID and got misdiagnosis at Frye's and they told me the board was probably fried but never looked under hood. Best Buy has no service at this time. So I saw this small store nearby and was in long line--remember everyone is reliant on their computers. I feared the loss of my computer but they did a great job diagnosing and fixing for reasonable fee AND turned around in one day! I "baptized" my Mac with tea, and though I had a fancy silver paperweight. I took it to the Apple store, and it would be ~$400 just to send off and evaluate (and potential for more to repair). Ended up buying a new machine. Then took the old one to J&B to see what they could do. Their evaluation $0! The noted the problem as light corrosion on the logic board. They suggest their Mac repair man, so I took it to him. $150 later I had my Mac back and working like a champ!! These guys rock! read more

First time customer took my sick Dell Laptop in after reading positive Yelp reviews. J & B far exceeded my expectations. Chris (tech) did a thorough diagnosis at no charge then called with results presenting several different possible repair options. His recommendation was interestingly the least expensive and about a third of a repair quote I received a week earlier from another shop - talk about building trust and confidence. He advised it would take about 2 days but called later the same day to let me know repair was completed and I could pick it up. When I picked it up Jim, the owner, insisted on powering it up and demonstrating the operating changes and improvements. Handed me printed instructions and a request to please call anytime I might have some questions or problems. I truly felt like he cared. Overall a great experience and very fair price. I found these guys using YELP, took my laptop there on a Saturday about 1 pm. Andrew told me he would do his best to get a basic diagnosis done by the end of the day. At 3 pm my phone rang, and it was Andrew. Although the news was bad, my laptop was a goner, I am still very impressed with the speed I was given service. He was also SUPER helpful in helping guide me toward purchase options for a replacement. This a a local shop, with local people working there, and they are all about straight forward customer service. It was so refreshing to do business with someone other than a monster super store. I will definately be returning here for all my repair/upgrage (etc) needs. BTW: Andrew could have easily talked me into some kind of repair, and returned my laptop to "working order". The only place I will ever go for computer problems now. I am shocked by their honesty, helpfulness and efficiency. My laptop was having problems charging so I took it in. They did a free diagnostic and looked at everything, calling me back later that day. They told me my hard drive was also failing and it would be better for me to buy a new laptop than fix mine. They detailed all the costs associated with fixing mine and they're right, a new laptop would be smarter. After telling me that, they gave me a great list of recommended laptops and answered all my questions. Even though I personally didn't pay for any of their services, I can tell they don't overcharge. They genuinely want to help and not just make a sale. When I went I only interacted with Kevin (I think that was his name) and he was so extremely helpful. Truly an asset to the company. Downright Rude and Indifferent Customer Service I didn't want to write a bad review of this place. In fact, the first time I dealt with them, I thought they were pretty nice. (Granted, the whole interaction was less than 10 minutes.) Aside from the owner, Jim, seeming a bit flustered and hurried, I was pleased with the service. But, wow... what a difference a second interaction can make! This time, what was previously seen as "a bit" too busy for customers turned into downright rudeness and utter indifference. While I'm talking to him, he won't make eye contact, keeps shuffling randomly through papers, and has virtually no interest in what I'm saying to him. Even though I waited for him over 5 minutes to talk to me, in less than 30 seconds, this guy's attention span was on fumes. I have to say that I was shocked to see how this guy treated a customer... a REPEAT customer, at that. (I had reminded him at the start that I did business with him not long ago, but he had no clue who I was. OK, I don't expect him to remember everyone, but at least act as if you're glad they came back a second time.) After about a minute and a half of him looking everywhere else and acting like a 14 year old who has no trouble expressing their wish that you'd just disappear, I finally said, "Wow, this is really rude service." That's when he starts telling me that I should have had an appointment if I was going to come in to talk to him. He said that I surprised him by just walking in off the street, and that if I had an appointment, he could have been ready for me. I said, "NOBODY makes an appointment! Everybody walks right in." (The place, incidentally, was completely empty when I arrived, except for him and an assistant.) I finally said, "I'm not only not coming back again, but I'm going to go home and write a Yelp review about you." I left the building, and that's when he actually followed me out to my car, (which, needless to say, is more than a little creepy), saying, "Why you gotta be like this?" But I find it interesting that it wasn't until I mentioned Yelp that he seemed to pay any attention. To top things off, when I arrived, I noticed several desktop computers left out on a table outside the store. They were completely unattended, and if anyone had wanted to walk off with them, they could have quite easily. (Not only was the staff in the back, but even the loud door alarm didn't alert them to my presence for 5 minutes.) I had also seen computers left outside on my first visit, too. I couldn't help thinking that whoever owns those computers would be very upset to come pick them up, only to be told that they were stolen, because the staff leaves computers outside on a picnic table for anyone to steal. I tried supporting a small, local business. But I have to say that the superstore Fry's down the street gave me much more professional and courteous service. Although their service department charges 60 dollars for a diagnostic, (which they deduct from the total if you hire them to do the service), and J&B does a diagnostic for free, it's just not worth it to deal with an owner who loses interest in customers within seconds of meeting with them. Now I understand why he told me his business is down 75%, while Fry's -- just two blocks away -- has a service department that's always booming. I have to agree with the previous reviewer who said that Jim treated him really rudely and suspiciously. I got the identical treatment. The other reviewer said that he might have been having a bad day. Well, ok, maybe. But being treated rudely and brusquely by someone whose business you came to support leaves a very bad taste in your mouth. Bad enough to make you want to warn others that they may encounter Gentleman Jim or Jerk Jim when you walk through the door. As for me, today I got Door Number Two. read more

First I took my laptop to Data Doctors and after 6 days of shipping my laptop to Arizona and "diagnosing" my problem, they then tried to charge me $300 just to replace my plasma screen on my Toshiba. I then found J&B on YELP and took it to these guys (who offer a free diagnostic) and they only charged me $145 to replace the exact same screen! And for an extra $29 they also installed a brand new keypad! These guys are super friendly, super honest, super professional and super inexpensive!!! Jim and Kevin went way out of their way to get my computer up and running IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS! And they treated me like I was an old friend. Kevin did a first rate job on my 2010 MacBook Pro 13". I had the faulty SuperDrive replaced and a 1TB hard drive upgrade. They put my old 500 GB hard drive into a USB caddy so I would not lose any of my files. Unfortunately my computer developed an issue with its power manager and would no long charge the battery, they took care of that free of charge since it happened on their watch, but it took a few extra weeks to send the computer to a specialist in NY. When I came to pick up the computer, Andrew took his time going through the whole computer to demonstrate the work they had done--all flawless and they installed an antivirus for me for Free!!!
