J&J's is one of our regular go to's, usually for Gulf oysters or fried shrimp, but in the winter we go for Angel's off the chain chili. And today did not disappoint. This is chili Nirvana. We set out on a FTW chili quest last winter and then as now the chili that Angel whips up here at J&J's we think is the king of the hill. It is pretty much the same as he was making back in the day at Fred's. And now, as then, it is the bomb. Chock full of tender cubes of sirloin, a perfect balance of chili seasonings, and heat that makes your palate stand up and salute the Texas and Mexico flags. It is topped with a generous layer of cheese, garnished with a handful of sliced fresh jalapeños and then finished under the broiler. We each brought about half of our servings 'home for supper this evening. J&J's has an expansive menu. My one wish for the store would be to see the beer game elevated. I suspect that taps are not doable here due to space constraints, but surely some of the great local bottled and canned beers could be added to the offerings. But the chili. Y'all need this in your life!

We have been frequenting this local seafood dive in Fort Worth since about 2010. Of course, when we lived here frequent was more than what it means now - which is when we come to town! Excellent fish tacos, gumbo, chowder, oysters, shrimp! It's all really good and very reasonable on the price for excellent fish/seafood, etc. with a Louisiana/Gulf Coast flair This location offers outside dining under a canopy and a small inside dining space with bar seating, as well. The wait staff have always been fast and friendly with their service and today's visit was no different. The drink of choice was waters all around. Add plenty of food for the whole family (no dessert needed today - too full!), we cashed out just over $45 for two adults and two kids under 10.

Cute lil bar with outdoor seating , we got a banquet and a shiner holiday cheer (no draft, all bottles) ordered 12 fresh oysters and a single catfish filet basket (came with thick cut fries and 2 hush puppy sticks, lemon, cocktail sauce, and lots of sauce options). The womens bathroom is around back and smelled clean and was a nice single user room, well stocked. Catfish and fries were fresh and HOT! Oysters were fresh and tasted great, no grit at all.

Our new go to for seafood cravings. Oysters were fresh and juicy. Shrimp was nice & spicy, best seasoning I have EVER had! Service was great, people were great!!!

Half dozen gulf oysters

This former Taco Bell restaurant has been transformed into a solid and charmingly funky seafood joint. The service is quick and friendly and the food is spectacular. My companion said the gulf oysters were fresh and tasty, and the gumbo very good. My combo basket, with fried catfish, shrimp, hush puppies, and fries, was piping hot and delicious. Everything tasted clean and fresh, without any greasy excess. Even the fries seemed to be fresh cut, from actual potatoes. Ft Worth is a long drive for me, but if and when I'm back, J&an would be high on my list for a return.

Disappointed. We ordered the oysters, which were fresh and tasty and the red snapper was good as well. We tried the fried cod and clams, side of fries and Cole slaw. The cod was bad...skimpy and over breaded and the fries were soggy. The clams were tasty and tender but small. Small seafood place and overall experience was disappointing.

Half dozen raw oysters, shrimp cocktail, and a modelo.

The food and service were perfect. Me and my wife both loved the ambiance and Dallas was a pretty chill server. He was welcoming, got our order correct and checked on us throughout the meal. The raw oysters on the half shell were meaty and delicious. Served with cocktail sauce, lemon wedges, and horse radish, which of course is the perfect combination. They were fresh and delicious. I also ordered the Mexican shrimp cocktail, and hands down, one of the best classic shrimp cocktails. Very plentiful. My wife ordered the grilled shrimp tacos and she loved them. She loves shrimp and was not disappointed in the portion and flavor. Beers were cold and delicious. We will be going back. I'm only disappointed in myself for growing up here and never stopping by. It's now my journey to make up lost time and keep coming back.

While J&J Oyster Bar might make you think of an upscale oyster bar, you'd be better thinking of it as a seafood shack. I don't say that disparagingly, just to set expectations! It has a fun, down by the shore vibe with plenty of personality. The staff is friendly and attentive, the food comes quick, and the prices are reasonable. We got the Laredo Oysters to start, because I'd never had them and wanted to try something new. If you're a cheese and pepper type of person, this might be for you, but the flavors just weren't for me. It was cheese melted over oysters, and the ice it was on was sparse and melting. We didn't finish the dish. The fried catfish basket I got was great! Crispy and fresh tasting, served with tartar sauce. The hushpuppies were amazing, definitely recommend! And the fries were yummy, but needed a little bit of salt. All of that for $9, definitely a good bargain! If you're coming around, I'd definitely recommend going to fried seafood route!

Whole catfish

I had the raw oysters, crawfish, and the whole fried catfish. The oysters were decent. The crawfish had a spicy seasoning on them. It bought flavor to it, and when I got the crawfish, they were hot and plump. It filled my craving for crawfish. My boyfriend loved the catfish he got. The whole one does have the bones in them.

It was a beautiful day to sit back, relax, and enjoy everything Clearfork has to offer. Katy was our server, and she was absolutely wonderful--friendly, attentive, and made our experience even better. We ordered the seafood platter, which was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly complemented by both the wine sauce and hot sauce. And yes, I ordered the French fries too--simply because I was craving them--and they definitely hit the spot! The Bloody Marys were outstanding and paired perfectly with the meal. Between the great food, excellent service, and beautiful atmosphere, it was another fantastic visit. We always enjoy our time at Plank Provisions and can't wait to return for another relaxing weekend meal.

The mahi was not my favorite but every other dish we had was amazing. I love brussels sprouts and these are one of the best in town. Fish tacos were great as well and pro tip, they are on the happy hour menu.! Salmon and fillet was perfectly cooked, and not pictured, the brownie peanut butter dessert was a perfect ending.

She made some excellent suggestions and got our orders perfect - I would go back just to have her wait on us. We got starters of oysters texasfellar and tuna tartare, followed by the salmon (shared), Idaho rainbow trout and crab cakes, with sides of lobster Mac and cheese, broccolini, mashed potatoes. More than enough food for 4 hungry people. They split the salmon perfectly into 2 plates. The crab cakes were fantastic, and the trout was perfect. They have bottled beer, so we got a few before the meal. Everything was so well timed. Definately stop by when in Fort Worth. They were able to get us in for a 6pm seating on a busy Saturday night.

Unfortunately, after we left, my daughter realized she had accidentally left her birthday card on the table. The card contained $300 in birthday cash. We returned about an hour later, hoping it had been turned in. What was most disappointing was not only that the card was missing, but also the way we were treated when we returned. The manager was dismissive and referred to the card as being "of no value," which felt unhelpful and lacking in compassion. My daughter was left to look through the restaurant's trash herself, and no employee offered assistance. I understand that forgetting the card was ultimately my daughter's mistake, and we accept responsibility for that. However, kindness, empathy, and customer service cost nothing. Based on the circumstances, no other guests had been seated at our table before the restaurant closed for lunch, so it is very upsetting that the card was never found or turned in. We left feeling far more disappointed by the lack of care and respect than by the loss of the money itself. I hope Waters Restaurant takes this feedback seriously and reminds its staff that how they treat people during difficult moments matters. We also spoke to the police because of the circumstances and filed a report. Unfortunately, there are no cameras at this location.
