    Stopped for a taco

Right off the 60 Pomona freeway in Montebello. It's nostalgic for me. Many Japanese Americans have an affinity for Mexican food. Could it be because many Japanese lived in Boyle Heights? I have been coming here at night after an event or a concert - like many customers do. I like the hard beef tacos, taquitos, and bean and cheese burritos. Very delicious treat before heading home. The service is good, and an Abuelita is making the food. Delicious food, good prices means that I will return again!

Chorizo breakfast burrito tasting. It was super good. First bite impression was it had super flavorful seasoning without being overly salty. The chorizo, potatoes, eggs, and beans all came together in a delicious soft tortilla that was one of the best in SGV. I would give it a 5/5 if it had more eggs, crispy potatoes instead of soft. Overall, it's an awesome breakfast burrito that I would get again.

This place is home! Great food with great prices. Ladies at the window are always so nice and sweet. Bacon breakfast burrito had the perfect ratio, of beans, cheese, bacon and eggs. The red sauce is the right spice to it. J&S has the perfect guacamole. You can never go wrong with their crisp crinkle fries. Every regular here knows this is the place for late nights, early mornings and anytime you need a bite of home. This might not be the perfect place for others but us regulars every bite is perfect.

There aren't many 24-hour spots around anymore, and J & S has been around for a while. It's a Montebello staple, a place where many locals enjoyed late-night eats during their high school years. There's a lot of nostalgia associated with J & S. I found great value here. I ordered the breakfast burrito, and the staff recommended the Sausage and Bacon Breakfast Burrito ($10.64). It was a decent, good-sized burrito. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't bad. It's perfect for a quick bite. I recommend grabbing a coffee next door and taking it to go - it's a winning combination. I also tried the Taquito ($3.75). The order comes with two taquitos smothered in avocado sauce. They weren't the best, and tasted a bit dry and not fresh. I set it aside, and it actually tasted better after soaking in the sauce for a few hours. I would skip this next time. It's recommended to order ahead, as they can get busy. I always like to support local, mom-and-pop businesses, especially ones that have been around for a while. They must be doing something right. Overall, the food is a 3.5/5. The decent taste and great price make it an affordable breakfast spot. I heard the machaca burrito is popular, so I'll try that next time.

Fries, green chili burrito, cheese enchiladas taquitos

My brother in law introduced me to J&S in 1980. Been going since then. Good flavor and a great bargain back in the day. I went to visit my uncle Xmas Day in MTB. Had a little extra time and I was in the area, so... The usual, fries (crinkle cut and crispy, tasted like taquitos, taquitos ( crispy, little shredded beef and fluorescent colored guacamole) yummy, cheese enchilada ( that enchilada sauce, OMG) and last but not least, green chili burrito ‍. Oh, and an extra large Orange bang to wash it down with. Just like I remember! Talk to a few of the customers and they do the same, one moved to Riverside and one from the valley. Prices are much higher but to be expected. Really, I didn't care what it cost. To enjoy a meal that reminded me of my overly fun teenage years to my adult life, can't ask for more than that. Cheers!

Green chile, breakfast, and bean and cheese burritos

As a young adult I frequented J and S more than I care to admit. I still go there from time to time but it's been a few years. Will it stand the test of time today? We order a bean and cheese burrito, a green chile burrito (no meat), a breakfast burrito (no meat), and taquitos. The taquitos have improved over the years. They used to use frozen taquitos with a skinny strip of meat that would completely pull out if you didn't bite down hard enough. The new and improved taquitos have flavorful shredded beef inside and are clearly made in house. They come covered with a generous plop of guacamole (mixed with sour cream) which I love so much. I put the green salsa on the guacamole. The green chile burrito is made with lardy refried beans, cheese, and a rich green chile sauce filled with onions and peppers. It's not hot, but it's flavorful with spices. It's a flavor I can only find here. It hasn't changed and is still so satisfying. The bean and cheese burrito is also very good, as you would expect. Both burritos are brightened and enhanced with the acidity of the pico de gallo. The breakfast burrito is filled with egg, cheese, beans and potatoes. It can stand on it own but it becomes complete with the addition of the pico de gallo, mild green salsa and/or the flavorful spicy red salsa. J and S is open 24 hours, but this is not a 2:30am review after a night of clubbing. It is 10am and I am completely sober. This place has really good food.

Store's sign with number to order ahead of time.

A whole in the wall that reminds me of my youth. The sausage and bacon breakfast burrito and the taquitos are great! It's not the cheapest but it's not u reasonable. The staff is kind and quick. I always stop by when I'm I. The neighborhood. Good thing it's open 24 hrs.

First time here, got a combination burrito with green chile. The beef was a little plain but the beans and cheese were really good and the green sauce helped give it more flavor. The service was great and they have seating outside for you to enjoy your food there. Would still come again and try more things and would definitely love to try a burrito with just cheese and beans.

They were fresh, crunchy, with ample green tomatillo salsa that was flavorful, making for a very authentic bite. The beans were very good and complemented the chilaquiles perfectly. Authentic Mexican flavors showcased well. Service: The waitress was friendly, attentive, and joyfully answered my questions about the menu. I also asked about the traditional colorful head piece located behind glass next to the register and learned that it is a Chinelo, a traditional iconic carnival character from Morelos, Mexico. It is clear, the restaurant owners are proud of their heritage and are sharing it with everyone. Ambiance: The small but cozy restaurant features an incredibly vibrant, maximalist indoor garden vibe that immediately makes you feel like you are dining inside an enchanted greenhouse. Dense artificial greenery blankets the walls and ceiling. The cozy, casual neighborhood layout is packed with personality, featuring playful multicolored floral tablecloths, festive flags, and unique lived-in accents. What a pleasant surprise. Meaning sometimes you read a lot of five star reviews and you leave…read moredisappointed. Had the Divorciad burrito for lunch and it was delicious. (See attached picture). This restaurant is in such an obscure location, I can't believe I was going to a Burrito Track across the street for so many years not knowing this place existed. Friendly staff and prompt service. The unfortunate negative is it's location and I'm referring to parking. There must be 8 business crammed into this lot. With a bar to the right and a laudermat on its left finding a parking spot is like winning the lotto. Now layer in one driveway and you have to make a 3 point turn just to navigate to leave. The short answer is I will absolutely go back to this place as long as there is a parking space to be had.
