There isn't anything necessarily WRONG with J Christopher's, but there isn't really anything that stands out about it either. I dined here on Sunday for brunch and had to wait around 20 minutes for a table, which is reasonable. The service was friendly; however it was slower than I would have expected. It's understandable that sometimes kitchens can back up, but the waitress didn't do a great job of keeping us informed on how much longer we could expect to wait for our food. I ordered the pantry feast which comes with two eggs, two pieces of bacon, potatoes and a blueberry crunch cake. All were ok, although the bacon wasn't great quality (on the thinner side) and the potatoes could have been cooked a little longer. The pancake was pretty good but could have been lighter and fluffier. All in all this is an ok breakfast place but really just pretty average. The good thing is they never seem to have a very long wait for tables, and they are friendly here. read more

Why do I keep going back here? On this particular visit I ordered the Spinach & Bacon "Skillet". As described on their menu as: "A blend of flavors that make this the #1 most favorite Skillet. Spinach, bacon, sun-dried tomato with blue cheese crumbles". It should be called the Sun-Dried Tomato Skillet. I wish I had looked closer at the menu because I am not a big fan of sun-dried tomatoes. If a few were sprinkled in for a little flavor then it's one thing but this was covered up in them. Where was the bacon? Where was the spinach? Meh. Blech. Pass. I've added a photo. I am flabbergasted that this place doesn't have 5 stars. Now I will preface this by saying I haven't been here in about 6 months. I moved from Dunwoody to Atlanta BUT this was my #1 breakfast spot for years. I'm a huge fan of the skillets. I've had the sausage and gravy it's amazing! They really load it up with all the good stuff. It's basically enough to feed 2 people. However if you're like me take it home pop it in the oven for 15 minutes, fry up a new egg, and it's as good as new. After I stopped eating pork I got hooked on the turkey and avocado skillet. Omg it's so good , I wish I still lived nearby. They do not skimp on the avocado like most places. Also it comes with a delicious biscuit and honey. I'm coming here for my birthday brunch in a few weeks with my 2 close friends. I like it here because it's always clean, pretty quite, and the service is always excellent. I don't know if this is because of the kitchen or the wait staff but I will say when I got my eggs benedict the potatoes were not hot they were lukewarm as if they had been sitting in the window for a really long time. This is my "go-to" spot when in the mood for a nice sit down breakfast and do not feel like waiting 30-40 minutes at Egg Harbor. The food is consistently prepared well and the staff is very friendly. One of my favorite dishes is the turkey & avocado skillet. I order it 90% of the time and it is delicious. You can't go wrong with turkey, avocado, roasted potatoes, two sunny side up eggs chopped onions, tomatoes and peppers and a fresh baked biscuit. Usually on Sunday mornings there is a bit of a wait but you can bypass this if you are willing to sit at the counter. The only negative of this restaurant is the acoustics are horrible. It tends to get extremely loud with other patrons chatter sometimes making it difficult to have a conversation. read more

Ok. J Christophers fan here. This is probably the fifth or so time that we have been to the Dunwoody location. Sunday 1pm ish. The tail end of the Sunday church crowd. I called ahead and we decided over Egg Harbour and Broken Egg Café because there was not much of a wait, only 10 minutes versus 30 to 40 elsewhere(a sign!)... I was a little surprised to see the low star rating for this location and this chain but I think I have an understanding now.. We walked in and were NOT greeted by the apathetic man spreading teenaged male host who was sitting near the greeting table that did not even bother to stand up as we approached. He confirmed that there was only a 10 minute wait and we sat down. I watched him sit and do nothing for the next five minutes until the manager walked over to chastise him and sent him to the back of the restaurant and watched him Saunter away clearly too bothered to give a damn about being at work today. I kept my eyes on him for the hour that we were there and he literally did nothing for that whole entire time other than chat with other employees and carry one syrup bottle back to the kitchen. So, onward and upward. We were seated by the manager greeted efficiently by our friendly waitress who took our order promptly and made some nice suggestions. My lovely wife ordered a skillet with eggs over medium and I ordered blueberry crunch cakes with a side of grits and sausages. I coffee came quickly and our server was attentive and polite. My wifes skillet came out with her over medium eggs drippy and runny so we sent them back which I never like to do and that was quickly resolved. My blueberry crunch cakes were rather amazing and tasty and a nice surprise. during my stay I observed the predominantly high school aged teenage staff kind of bumble around with only about a 50% efficiency rating. Some people clearly gave a damn and were trying while others like the aforementioned bubblehead literally did nothing. Whatever, $37 before tip later we left with our to go boxes as the day was winding down for the lunch crowd with a general feeling of disappointment and disillusionment. The skillet was unmentionable, my sides were just average and overall. With the competition that you have in the area and the prices on the menu I feel like I will not be very tempted to return any time soon. STEP IT UP j.c's! I have eaten at J. Christopher's a few times and the first time the waitress had a VERY bad attitude. Gave it a second and third time, decent and standard service. Went in for a takeout order during COVID-19. There were several orders lined up for takeout and I take one bag as it was pushed forward to me. I leave, go all the home and there's an entire meal and a couple of sides. I go back to the restaurant and ask them to remake the order since now I'm having to drive all the way back. I have a soggy waffle and pancakes and cold eggs at this point. They wouldn't remake it, because they say, "The order wasn't wrong." How about you make it CLEAR, that I have more than one bag. The onus should not be in the consumer to look at all the to go bags during a Pandemic. Tried supporting a small business during a Global Pandemic and can't even get good customer service. read more

Dined at J. Christopher's of Dunwoody for the first (and last) time today for brunch. We were seated relatively quickly, but it took a bit of time for a server to finally come by and acknowledge us. We watched tables around us get seated and get their food and leave, but we sat with empty water glasses, hungrily eyeing the kitchen window for our grub. Our server eventually came by and said sorry for the wait - our food was coming out next. Eyes on that window, plates came up but never came to us. Finally the manager came by to deliver our plates and apologize, but we were met with even more disappointment when we realized that she had gotten my fiancé's order wrong. We told her that we were extremely disappointed, and she explained that she would cover our bill for us to make up for the trouble. A kind gesture, but we already had a bad taste in our mouths. Speaking of which, the food was fine but not spectacular and definitely not worth the wait. I got a veggie omelet which didn't have much flavor to it. The biscuit was decent, and the iced coffee was pretty great. My fiancé finally got his chorizo scramble after they had mistakenly prepared a breakfast burrito for him. The verdict: perfectly acceptable. While we appreciate the staff attempting to make it right, we will not be returning for a mediocre meal with a side of slow service. read more

I have been to this location 3 times. First time was great! Went with a large group and the service and food was excellent. Second time, the service and food was just ok. My third visit was this past Sunday and I was extremely disappointed but learned a very important lesson...I will not pay $7.99 for one piece of French toast again. If you get a waitress that is gabbing with a friend of hers at another booth, just realize you will never see her again and move on. This place serves up breakfast and lunch (open until 2pm) and gets quite busy on weekends. Even with a crowd, you can expect to be seated fairly promptly. You're not going to leave this place raving about how great the food was, but I've never had much of a complaint either. read more

I know there have been several mixed reviews about this place, but I have to say, if you're looking for a good, solid breakfast early in the AM and in a hurry, this is the place to go. I've become a regular here, every Sunday morning meeting my best friend for breakfast/chat after she gets off work at 0700. I've tried just about everything on the menu and I can honestly say that I have yet to be disappointed. The feel of the place is like an old country restaurant I used to frequent back in Memphis, not like it's a chain (although it is). Staff is always friendly and attentive, and the food always comes out hotter than the hammered hinges of hell. I also like the concept that they bring a carafe of coffee to the table, and have HUGE coffee mugs. My main bitch about getting coffee somewhere is that it's either in a teeny little cup, or I have to flag someone down when I want a refill. The menu items are clearly stated, and can't get any simpler to understand, come on people, it's BREAKFAST!! My favorites: Billy Goat Omelet: Portabella, Roasted Red Peppers, and Goat Cheese. YUM! Pantry Feast: Pancakes, Eggs, Bacon/Sausage, Grits or Potatoes, your standard breakfast fare. Just Bubba: Name is amusing, but it happens to be my most favored. We visited J. Christopher's for a second time. I was honestly disappointed in the food. We had an omelet and a BLT sandwich. The omelet was flavorless. The omelet was made as if they cooked the veggies first, put them on a plate and put a cooked egg on top. There was liquid underneath the veggies that saturated everything else on the plate. I doubt we go back there for breakfast. My hunt for a great breakfast is still on going, but once I find that place, I will let you know. read more

Brunch on a Sunday sometimes is hard to come by. If you go to Another Broken Egg which is a few miles away, you might wait an hour to get seated, J Christopher is usually the alternative chain that I go to when I'm not willing to wait. Going there, usually there's never much of a line, and by the reviews you might see why people avoid this place. It really is more like a slightly better IHop, the place looks like an IHOP inside, the noise, ambiance, and food quality are similar as well. When I go to J Christopher I usually get the Santa Fe omolette while my girlfriend gets the Benedict. The omolette and potato hash are filling, but nothing to write home about. It feels very pedestrian in general, I usually have to put hot sauce or ketchup to coax more flavor out of it. The biscuit in the Benedict is a bit hard, not as soft as you would like but the egg on top is cooked decently. If you had blindfolded me and asked me where the food came from, I wouldn't be able to tell, even though I've been there 3 or 4 times, which is an indication of the type of food there. Not memorable, but cheap enough to get some calories for your Sunday afternoon. read more

I would wait for the pandemic to pass to give it a chance (not coming back though). On a plus Side, if you are looking for a place that still follows carefully the Covid guidances this is a good place for you. There's enough distance between tables, no seating while waiting, and no salt, pepper or napkins, although, menus are still sticky gross plastic covered (let's hope they are sanitized). A short wait on a brunch place after 10:30 should be enough indication on how great your experience will be, specially when you are at 50% capacity. Our waiting time was 20 minutes which was great and the server was great at first but then forgot about us (she had 2 tables). We ordered a short stack of the blueberry crunch cakes and got basic blueberry pancakes with no granola. We saw the server once when we asked for the check but she was so busy trying to fix her mess up from the other one table she had, that she forgot about us. Took us like 15 minutes to pay and leave. And to top it all off food made us sick probably cause they lost power and didn't threw dangerous food away. read more

We waited 45 minutes for our food (we literally only ordered oatmeal, eggs, bacon, grits, and fruit... and after waiting 30 min, we were told they were all out of oatmeal, which probably means they didn't even look at our order for half an hour). We had a bit of a wait to get into the restaurant and parking was scarce. The only locations we could find were to park on the street if it is available or pay to park in a garage. It is a smaller location, but they are able to do a lot with the space they had. I got a traditional breakfast platter and was pleasantly suprised at how good it was.
