Wow... the manager is an absolutely prick and based on several other reviews, it's clear I'm not the only one who thinks so. Got seated right away, ordered quickly and food came out. No problems so far, everyone was nice so far (including the manager when he sat us). French toast was ehhh, nothing special and the middle was mushy but it was fine. My daughter had crepes and she liked them. We both ordered potatoes and both of ours were super undercooked and had no flavor. Some pieces were almost raw. I had no intention of saying anything or complaining about it but the manager came over and saw our plates stacked with barely any potatoes eaten. He specifically asked what was wrong with the potatoes so I mentioned they were really undercooked. He asked me if he could cut into them and said it's not that he didn't believe me but he had to see for himself - so yeah that means you didn't believe me. He grabbed my fork and tried to cut into one. He couldn't cut into it, several attempts and it was clearly raw and he acknowledged it. So he took my bill and my plate and I assumed he was going to remove the potatoes from my bill before charging my card. Nope, he came back and THREW my receipt and card down on the table and yep, he charged me for the potatoes knowing himself they were raw. He didn't say a freaking word and walked away. My daughter and I were shocked at how he threw it down on the table as if we did something wrong. Several people in the restaurant were looking after hearing the plastic holder with the receipt in it hitting the table and watched the way he treated me. One lady had her mouth wide open in shock and watched him walk away like a child having a temper tantrum. If you are going to specifically ask a customer about uneaten food and confirm yourself it wasn't cooked properly you should have either offered to replace the food or taken it off the bill. An apology or even a complete lack of attitude would have been acceptable too. If you aren't willing to correct problems then don't freaking ask!! read more

First time here. Loved it. The coffee is great. I highly recommend the corned beef hash. I saw at least 7 things on the menu I'll need to come back and try. I have eaten here before covid, and loved the place! I had started back again recently. only one time out of 3 did the meal go well. I went in on a Saturday with a friend, we ordered the Atkins healthy breakfast with no substitutes ( which is scramble egg whites, fruit, wheat toast, turkey sausage and coffee). It took quite awhile to get our meal (only half the tables were occupied) the servers were clumped up together and we notice several tables around us that were not happy as well. When our food arrived, it was completely wrong (2 egss over easy, potatoes, bacon and english muffins). I thought everyone can have a bad day; so, I went back this week and tried again. Only two other tables were occupied with 3 people total, I ordered the same breakfast on the menu that I had ordered before and received the same wrong order that was presented on the Saturday I was there; also noted that salt and pepper shakers were empty, the jelly was empty and when I looked to other tables to get what I needed, they were all empty as well. I came here years ago and had a great experience. I wanted a good meal before departing for NJ and came back. The experience this time was much different. For one, when I came before there area was not as built up so it was really easy to find and lots of parking. Now the area is so built up it was a little harder to find and there is much less parking. Food was not as good as I remembered it but not bad. I had a Cajun scramble. Basically some hot sausage in scrabbled eggs. Nothing impressive. The cheese they threw on top of the scramble wasn't even heated to be melted on the eggs. So it was coldish shredded cheese on top of eggs. They were not that busy where the cheese couldn't have been melted for a few seconds. The potatoes were good. They had the same cold shredded cheese on top. I liked the portions. Nothing bothers me more for a breakfast than a massive plate of food. So they score points for the right portion of food. The staff was pleasant and attentive. The atmosphere is awesome. There are cool pictures and posters around, bright colors, and people are always nice around you. I sat alone at the coffee bar and the couple next to me was just so much fun to talk to. I do have to say that I prefer this place over a Starbucks or other chain places. We went on Sunday for breakfast and I really wish we hadn't. The place has the aesthetic of a school cafeteria and the food has the quality to match. There was nothing to dampen the sound, and apparently everyone was shouting over each other to have conversations. The employees had no name tags or uniforms on. In fact it was almost impossible to tell who worked there and who didn't. Our server didn't even introduce herself. For all I know she was just a customer who got tired of waiting on service and hopped in to help. If you looked but subpar in the dictionary you'd find a picture of my food. I wrote a pretty bad review for J. Christopher's in Feb. Afterward the manager promised he had made some changes, and invited me back in. I was so unimpressed that it took me 4 months before I decided to give them another try. I am pleased to say that our dining experience was almost the exact opposite as the last time. The hostess was pleasant, our server was extremely friendly, and the service was much more prompt. I do believe J. Christopher's has made some changes that will definitely help their business. My wife and I have been going to J. Christopher's almost every weekend for brunch. We've been going since before we were married, and love it there. In fact, it's such an integral part of our weekend, that we invited all our out-of-town wedding guests there for our Wedding-Brunch. The staff is always very friendly, and cheerful - you can tell it's a place they like working. The service really stands out there - especially when you see the manager and wait staff know the names of their customers. But let's talk about the food, because it's all about the food in the end. Their breakfast, brunch and lunch are great. J. Christopher's is the type of place where you're so happy with your usual order that it's hard to break away from it... but I've managed to try a number of different things. Their Franklin Melt is awesome. Hands down. Awesome. Their skillets are really great too, and their omelettes are really good too. And it's also great to couple it all with their coffee - and they don't just pour you a cup, and leave you waiting for them to come by to fill it up again. On Friday, it was pretty quiet, we quickly got a table and were served right away. The food was awesome! The manager checked on us a couple times. I would rate my experience between a 2 and 3 stars... It's a step up from Waffle House or IHop. We went on a weekday around 9:30 am. It was crowded but there was not wait. The decor needs major help, especially for a community like Franklin. The lighting/seating/overall ambiance is not appealing. And the noise level is irritating; the voices from the conversations just bounce all over the room because there is nothing to soften the sound. The hostess was very nice; she was able to assist us with getting beverages since it took over 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table. They brew Bongo Java coffee - but not very well. Our carafe (very ugly, btw) needed to be richer in taste and hotter. The half-n-half was served in a small juice glass, so each time we poured, the cream ended up spilling. Also, note, they only serve refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. The menu looked promising. My friend had an omelette (the eggs were dry an over cooked). I had a panini with ham/egg/cheese and pesto. It was a nice try, but very basic and uninteresting. The potatoes were undercooked and had no flavor. Our waitress tried really hard and was very sweet. But I'll definitely not choose to come back here again. It's ok at best. In the future, I'll just stick to Fido in Hillsboro Village for breakfast. read more

Staff here is amazing. Very professional, friendly, knowledgeable of all things on the menu. My daughter and I had the Eggs Benedict w potatoes and the Bubba Plate w grits. She loved the eggs Benedict but did complain about the biscuit being burnt. Still devoured the eggs, and potatoes. I was not as pleased w the Bubba plate. The gravy had absolutely no taste, which makes getting biscuits and gravy pointless. And the grits were basically water w a few grits floating in it. I have mixed feelings about this place. It's worth the visit if you want breakfast and just don't feel like cooking. However, I like to cook, and I feel I haven't really had anything here that I couldn't have made at home and taste just as good if not better had I made it myself. They don't do a good job cooking fried eggs to order-my eggs over medium have come out over and undercooked at times. The menu is pretty traditional. Nothing too creative. I'd probably give it three stars for the food being average, but the service is hit or miss. We've had good service, and we've had really slow service. Several times our food has come out lukewarm like it's been sitting there a while before our server picked it up. And surprisingly it's always busy with a wait to be seated. We have given this place several chances as breakfast is my favorite meal, but I just haven't been impressed at all. With better options in the area, we probably won't be visiting again for a while. read more

I am one of the world's biggest breakfast fans. I must admit, I do like this place a lot. Cracker Barrel used to be THE PLACE to go in Franklin when it came to breakfast, but ever since I was a waiter there this past summer, it was never the same. I had heard some good things about J. Christopher's, so I decided to go there with my buddy. I have gotten many of their omelets, including the veggie delight (with all kinds of vegetables) and the billy goat (with goat cheese and veggies). I also was able to try my friend's San Bernardino omelet (with avocado, jack cheese, and chicken). They were all excellent, but if I had to recommend one omelet, I would have to give props out to the Billy Goat, it was so good, and the melted goat cheese on the inside brings the necessary amount of creaminess to the dish. The omelets also come with your choice of bread and your choice of fruit or potatoes (all excellent). The pancakes, waffles, and crepes look awesome too; with the exception of the one time I ordered oatmeal, I have gotten an omelet every time. At this point in our college lives, with almost all of my friends going to schools outside of Franklin and barely any time at home, J. Christopher's has become my new favorite breakfast place in Franklin. When I get to go home again in August for a few weeks, I will definitely be heading back to J. Christopher's. We found J. Christopher's thanks to Yelp, though the location is a bit hidden in a sea of strip malls in the Cool Springs area. I'm glad that we kept looking and didn't give up. The place was packed when we arrived, but there was seating available at the bar. Not an alcohol bar, mind you, but right beside the coffee machines. The service was very friendly, but the most awesome thing about J. Christopher's is the healthy menu options. I was able to have a full breakfast of my favorite breakfast items (eggs, sausage, fruit) all with healthy alternatives, and the meal was delicious. If you're tired of the regular chain restaurants for breakfast, give J. Christopher's a try. Just be sure to scope the place out ahead of time if you're not sure where it's located. Also note that they are only open from 7am-2pm so don't show up for dinner. read more

I was very pleased with my omelette and my sample of my bud's chocolate chip pancakes was great as well. I never would have guessed this place is a chain, but if you Google it several others pop up. The omeltte I got had boursin cheese, mushrooms, bacon, and spinach and was fantastic. I forget what the menu called it, but I'd highly suggest it. I greedily kept eating every little bite. It came with a side of plain, but okay potatoes and fruit. Try this place out, but I would suggest arriving by 11:00 to avoid a lengthy wait. Just, don't expect a cute ambiance. Excellent service and the owner was extremely friendly! Blueberry crunch pancakes are a must and I enjoyed the cajon scramble that wasn't too spicy for those that can't eat hot food. We used to come here fairly often and always had great service and food. Kenny was the manager and he was very friendly, polite, customer oriented. We came back this morning after a few months and everything had changed. New manager, new waiters, new cooks, etc., and our meal and service was definitely not like it used to be. They looked very overwhelmed, possibly short staffed. We ordered our eggs over medium and they were runny, my bacon was very undercooked, english muffins were cold. When we told our waitress, all she said was that they will not charge me for my meal, instead of having the manager come over and talk to us. This our 'to go breakfast joint' when we make the long trip up to Costco. Food and service has always been good. A few days back we finished breakfast and tried to pay with a credit card. The manager came by and said the internet was down so if we didn't have any cash on hand the meal would be free. After paying in cash, the manager stopped us on our way out gave us a card for one free meal. He said he gave us the free meal due to our honesty (by not stating we had no cash). This is our family's go-to breakfast and brunch spot. Always reliable. Always friendly. Always good. Their dark roast coffee is one of our favorites. My husbands favorite is the Traditional. It comes with eggs, bacon or sausage, biscuit or English muffin, and potatoes or grits. It's a great value! I really enjoy their strawberry crepes and I'll add chocolate chips. Yum!!! You know how every once in a while you have a restaurant that keeps popping up on your yelp "Your next review awaits.." and you think to yourself - I've already done that one? That is J. Christopher's for me. I've been here at least a half dozen times, and J. Christopher's has the distinction of being one of the very first local places that I trusted the yelp review for my order and just went with they said. That trip I had the "Billy Goat" omelette, and it is delicious and a good option for everyone. I've been here with hubby, been here with kids, and been here for business meetings - it's become a breakfast destination for sure. I will say that for the business networking visit, this place does not have any sound-absorbing acoustics anywhere, so hearing and conversing amongst a table of ten was very challenging for me. I've recently discovered my hearing isn't the best, (what ELSE can go wrong after 40), so maybe you'll be fine. I've also enjoyed the pancakes with granola in them, so delicious. The kids loved the names of the children's entrees - the neices decided on Fruitty Pebble pancakes, which were well received, but they are basically buttermilk pancakes with Fruity Pebbles sprinkled on top. I could've done that. Their orange juice is exceptional. Not my favorite in town, that honor goes to Alpine Bagel in Maryland Farms, Brentwood, but a close second. My six year old neice enjoyed one and half adult size glasses on her visit - a good sign I'd say. When I have visited and was eating carbs (ah.... carbs... I miss you), I do remember preferring the hash brown potatoes to the grits - they were a little on the bland side ot me. They do offer free wi fi, and they have some great servers as I recall. Not always, but for the most part, we've had good service. And this is a "leave the coffee pot on the table" kind of place, just in case that sort of thing bugs you. read more
