For a pizza pub, food was decent and pizza was generally good. Knocked two starts for the following service reasons. 1. Didn't have the beer I selected, then when asked about the other 2 IPAs available the waitress said she never tasted so don't know the difference. 2. Ordered onion rings and was delivered calamari, when the waitress was told we didn't order the calamari, she said "why would I put in for onion rings, we are out" 3. When received the bill the calamari was still on the bill, when I informed the waitress WE DID NOT ORDER, she gave us attitude Other reviews state friendly service... apparently this waitress needs more training on customer service, and maybe crack a smile, as this really does affect the overall experience and consideration if we would choose to dine at this establishment again. read more

Back in the day after work I could walk up the street to go JJ Dolan's for some legit pizza and drinks in Downtown. Fast forward, I avoid Downtown like a plague since I've been working there so long so it's rare that I go to J Dolan's. When I heard J Dolan's was opening up in Kahala, I was ecstatic. Shout out to Brian M for posting that this spot finally opened! Now, I can have their amazing pizza and some drinks closer to home. Not only that, I don't have to deal with the crazy parking situation in Downtown. When I came, I easily found parking right in front of the restaurant which was nice. Shorter crawl to my car after some drinks ;p jk J Dolan's open at 4pm and when I got there around 4:15pm, the place was almost full! At least the indoor seating was. Due to staffing issues everywhere, they aren't currently open for lunch. My friend and I quickly snagged up the last two seats at the bar. We met some great people while having some drinks and eating a slice of their pepperoni pizza. The entire time we were there, the place was packed and there was a line out the door. It's great for their staff but be a little patient as they just opened and everyone is working as fast as they can. As I'm writing this, I'm already looking forward to my next visit back! For those of you who don't live in the Kahala bubble with kids, you'll never truly understand the struggle of your only immediate social drinking choices being Chili's, CPK or Whole Foods. Do you understand what this will do for the sex lives of married people in the 'hood?! So yesterday when my hubby sent me a text with a screenshot of Brian M's pizza, I screamed out loud for all of Kahala to hear "IT'S FINALLY OPEN!!!" And when my husband suggested that we hop over to J Dolan's for an impromptu date night, I handed the baby to my teenage daughter and put on my fancy black lululemon pants, which coincidentally look just like all my other black lululemon pants. During our very first visit to J Dolan's my husband and I grabbed two seats at the bar. The entire place was packed with people and we ran into at least two people we knew. All we could do was smile at each other with the knowing that we were about to eat really great pizza without our kids. Since it was a school night, this was a quick date, but oh my goodness the pizza was magnificent! We each had two rounds of drinks and two slices of pepperoni pizza. So rarely does the actual experience match up to one's mental expectations, but this was perfect! J Dolan's Kahala is a much larger version of their Downtown location, but it's still got that same familiar vibe of casual, friendly and completely yoga pants appropriate. The staff was awesome and very attentive! Like many local eateries, they don't have a full staff yet, so for now they're only open during dinner time. J Dolan's is in the same shopping center as Kahala Market, right across the street from Zippy's Kahala. Parking is free in the shopping center. We're so overjoyed that J Dolan's is finally open in Kahala and I can't wait to come back with my hubby! This review is based on our treatment. Food was decent. Service was awesome. We had the best server ever. You know, this place is a pizza bar. A group of 8 of us stopped by to celebrate a birthday. We were told that we had to be cut off because there was a complaint that we were too loud (at a bar that serves pizza). The loudest we were was when we sang happy birthday. Great pizza and bartenders but sit at the bar! Been going here for years and usually never have issues when ordering food or drinks at the bar. However, the servers usually mess up orders and we had an unpleasant experience last night. Waited outside for 20 minutes because of a festival display inside the bar and after making it inside we got booted from a table and was told to sign in (never done that before). Shortly after we got scolded for standing near the bar for a few seconds after trying to make our way out when the door was blocked. Also get pizzas by the slice! I called to place an order over the phone, the person who answered the phone hung up abruptly. I called back a second time they seemed annoyed and dismissive when I tried to tell them my order. Now, at that point, I should've decided that I was not going to place my order here however, I had my sister call to place the order instead. She was able to get the order placed and upon walking through the door to pick up the order she was immediately told that their kitchen was closed. The hours of operations say they are open until 11 PM. My sister arrived at 10 PM to pick up our order!!!!! I am not thrilled with the customer service that we received. The pizza was very mediocre and cold like it had been sitting for hours. There were barely any toppings on it!! We were celebrating my friends birthday and decided to stop for a quick pizza. There were no lines since it just opened for the day. We had a half boardwalk and then their special for the day which was steak. The garlic flavor was absolutely amazing. There's plenty of parking and staff were nice. The bathroom is also super cool and similar to the atmosphere of the entire restaurant. They had football games on too and plenty of pizza and beer options. We went here because a family member recommended this restaurant. We went during a busy hour so the wait was at least 45 mins. And then the back up wait for our pepperoni pizza was another 45 mins. But that's not the problem. The pepperoni pizza had one or 2 on each slice so when the waitress asked if it was ok? We let her know that there was barely any pepperonis. His name was JOE and he stated that the number of pepperonis is 30 per pizza. When my aunty told him, there wasn't any where near 30 and mentioned the word "starving" amongst the long wait. The manager proceed to mention that "no one is starving because we are not on the boarder of mexico." Now, he was very confrontational and I felt like the mentioning of people starving in mexico really was inappropriate. If your going to do youe job and ask about how the meal is, expect a response. My wife saw an Instagram post showing that this new location had finally opened, so we headed down. We're still not comfortable eating indoors but they have a large patio that's pretty nice though it needs more shade for late afternoons. We went around 5:15 and my wife just baked in the sun. Still, we were greeted by a welcoming host who said we could take any table outside. All of them were huge, so bring the whole family. Would be nice to have some two-tops and four-tops. Maybe later as they get this new location up and running full speed. Our server came out quickly to provide menus and get our drink order. She was very friendly and attentive throughout which was greatly appreciated. The menu is pretty lean, but they had what we wanted which was a fantastic, hot and fresh pizza. Thin crispy crust, good amount of toppings, and super cheesy. We definitely look forward to trying all the different pies and will be back soon. Okay, so our sever was very friendly and accommodating, and the food was really excellent. I'm a big fan of thin crust pizza, and this was cooked perfectly with toppings that were fresh and plentiful. They also have a well stocked bar (although relatively few draft beer choices). So why is my review only four stars? Two reasons. 1. This place is loud. And when I say loud, i mean LOUD. I understand it's popular. Every seat (including every seat at the bar) was filled. And it was so loud I couldn't hear the person across the table from me, let alone the person at the next table who was trying to complain to me about how loud it was. 2. They add a 3% service charge for credit cards (which, to be fair, they do warn you about in small print on the menu). But they don't wait to see whether or not you are paying with a credit card. They just add it to your bill up front. Bad form at a minimum. I would happily go back for the delicious pizza, but I think next time, I would choose to sit outside in hopes of some small degree of noise mitigation. read more

I really LOVE pizza & was excited to check out J. Dolan - newly opened at Kahala. Had already heard from friends that their pizza isn't as good since other partner is no longer with J. Dolan. However I always prefer checking it out myself . Unfortunately it was a disappointment. The thin crust was good on my "take out" customized veggie pizza - but the sauce was much too bland & not flavorful at all . Needs a lot more herbs seasonings to spruce it up . To tell you the truth, I love this place. The atmosphere is good, drinks are good, pizza is great and it a nice place close to the house to hang out. I didn't have time so I figured I would call to do a take out order and just pick up a couple pizzas. First question I asked was to they take take out order and told them I was trying to get a couple pizzas. I didn't know the names of the pizza so I was asking if they can tell me the name. They were getting frustrated on the phone before they even attempted to mention the name of the pizza and it was literally the first option that he named. Then I was trying to ask for the other pizza but again I didn't know the name. This dude told me hey man we are not Pizza Hut. I was like wtf. Dude if you just name the pizzas off I will tell you which one. Since he was frustrated I just made up my own pizza. But I was fired up. On our first visit, we used the outdoor seating, however this time (summer) the humidity was killer, so we decided to sit indoors. Service was friendly and quick and we received our fries and calamari right away. I'm not a fan of fries, but my 3 year old loves them, and was not disappointed on our 2nd visit either. I would say the serving size is appropriate for a party of 4, and with 2 pizzas our order was set. We always order the scampi, and this time opted for the giacomo as well. Both were delicious and we finished them off. My only criticism for J Dolan's is the lack of dessert. Even the option for a scoop of gelato or ice cream would be appreciated. Great service perfect for happy hour. This place is a hidden gem. Not much from the outside but inside it's a perfect after work drinking spot. Parking can get bad because of the amount little eateries and Foodland. Pizza. Fries. Onion rings and chicken wings all very tasty but alittle salty. I love this place first off. Staff is great and food is good, but there's a big difference between the slices and pies. Not the same consistency. The pies need a little bit more dough. J. Dolan's (the original) was always a crowd favorite and the new location serves up the same consistency. Pizza is really what this place in known for and if you stick with that - it's a good decision. You can get the chicken wings. fries, etc., but really you are here for pizza and drinks. Since I don't drink, I just came for the pizza. Honestly, I am a fan of thicker crust, but the crust was substantial enough that I enjoyed it. Chewy with a little bit of a yeast-y flavor, it held up well to the toppings. We had the Giacomo and the scampi pie. It is one of the few places that have ricotta and a white sauce that doesn't get too heavy. The flavor of the spinach and garlic (had a piece of someone else's) was really good. You didn't need the meat at all! You won't get many kisses, so just make sure your date is also eating the spinach and garlic. The parking at this location can get a little dicey, so be prepared. This review is for the Kahala location, but everything is available at the original location too. Good quality, good pricing, convenient location on this side of the island. read more

We love the food at J. Dolan's Chinatown location, so we drove from our home in Kaneohe to try the new location near Kahala Mall. We loved that there was a parking lot with spots for us to park, and that it didn't smell like piss as we walked down the street. The restaurant appeared to be Fairly newly remodeled with clean, modern decor, and high ceilings. There was plenty of seating - including both indoor and outdoor, some around an island counter, and a long bar. It still felt like an Irish pub, and had some kind of animal head (taxidermy) above the door when we walked in. We came the Saturday after Thanksgiving, and the place was packed already. The hostess was very kind and promptly dealt with everyone that walked in. We also exchanged small talk with a family that had driven from Mililani that came in after us. The hostess thought it would only be a five minute wait, and when it was more, she split up, what would normally be a six person table to accommodate us and another group of three that came in after us. Leo was our server, and he was so good - quick, kind, professional, and intuitive! Even though it was busy, he also took time to exchange small talk with us, as if he was not rushed. Service was quick, beer and soda were cold and fresh with the perfect amount of head on top - I ordered a snakebite (half Guinness, half chard cider). We split a tossed salad (forgot to take a picture of that, but I like that it includes blanched broccoli and snap peas!) and a cheese pizza that was cooked to perfection. The food was worth the wait. My husband spent his formative years on the East coast of the Mainland, and always judges a pizza establishment by a standard cheese pizza. We both love the sauce at K. Dolans and the fact that pizzas always seem cooked a little extra to get some crispy spots on top. Leo and our hostess were right on time on asking for refills and bringing us everything we needed, as well as clearing away old plates. They do serve food on paper plates here and use disposable silverware. It would be a little nicer to have more sturdy plates, but this is the same as the old location. It's not really worth complaining about. After tip, we got out of there for about $55. It seems like that is kind of the standard price meal out these days. We enjoyed ourselves, and will definitely be back! read more

Love this location, food and service is great I do have a problem with the 3% CC Processing Fee though. Please let me explain I am ok with it being charged if you present a credit card but when you receive your bill it automatically appears so if you are paying cash unless you do your own math and take that amount out of the equation you are technically being charged that fee when you calculate the tip. Not a fan of that default!! Secondly I ordered a "tall" vodka soda which normally means 1 shot alcohol and filled with soda in a tall glass not a short cocktail glass- I was charged a "double" when the bill came.....not sure who's error the server for not knowing the terminology or did the bartender not know; either way I didn't bring to their attention and just sucked it up and paid for the inflated drink price. So only reasons stated are the loss of a star which if I could have would only dock 1/2 star, otherwise we love J Dolans, they are a welcomed addition to Kahala, did I mention we drive from Kunia for their Pizza and Wings which btw are like no other!!! read more
