We went here wholly based on the Yelp profile (we are from out of town). It said "better than Deschutes"... nope. It said "Vegan options"... nope (nada, zero). It said "vegetarian options"... if you count a single veggie burger and a side of home fries as sufficient menu options. My friend wasn't able to eat anything as even the oil for the tots was used for chicken and fish. Really sad. My other friend had a Ron Swanson basic cheeseburger... meat, cheese, basic. I had the caprese chicken sandwich... it was pretty good, once I trimmed off the BROWN lettuce (see pic). The IPA was the best thing on the table. Our waiter was not enthusiastic, and was completely unapologetic that one person wasn't able to eat anything from the menu. We sat in the front area... perhaps the back area / patio had better ambience, but friends... this place has the ambiance and food of a BASIC DINER that's leaning towards being a brewery. Friends and I came in for some lunch and to hang out while in the area. Definitely a unique fun spot serving great food and drinks. JB's serves various American comfort food in a woodsy, ski/snowboard themed contemporary restaurant feeling. Seating options include a main room with various table seating and partial booth, a couple other areas with some seating, and a nice sized bar with table top and bar seating. Like some other Oregon establishments (that includes some form of gambling) there's a couple video pokers available to play on. Staff was kind/friendly, treated us well and even told us about somethings to try (such as a hotter than usual Bloody Mary that's made with a special habanero infused vodka) The menu features various appetizers (or ask they call them snacks), burgers, sandwiches, salads, and other entrees (a taco, fish and chips etc). I liked reading their menu with some funny names to various things (My Girlfriend's Not Hungry is a side of fries. That's hilarious) Little Boy Blue - Grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle smothered blue cheese sauuce and served on a telera roll. I had been curious about J Dub for over a year. Did my research and finally our friends wanted to have dinner at J Dub's too. We were a party of four. Arrived Thursday evening at 5:30 with the place empty. Our server Skye was pleasant , confused and funny. The confused part were questions over Sweet Potato Fries and regular Fries. How are they cooked ? Crispy, shoe string ? Through her for a loop. We ordered a Veggie Burger, Grilled Chicken Sandwhich, Fish and Chips, and a Lobster Roll. No criticism on the Chicken sandwich or Lobster Roll. I had the Fish and Chips. Three medium size pieces of Panko crusted cod fish. In my opinion the Panko crumbs dry out the fish. There could have been more Sweet Potato Fries for a dish that costs $18 . My wife had the Veggie Burger. Dry but when adding the fixings was ok. We went all over downtown looking for a place on Sunday around 11 heading out of town that didn't have an hour wait. Not easy. J Dub kept popping up so I said let's do it. No one was sitting in the front area and we were seated right away so I was a little nervous. I said why is no one here a couple times to my wife. I asked what I should get and he said chicken fried chicken. Let's do it. It came out and to be honest smaller than I imagined and I was hungry. But man did I enjoy every single bite and I was stuffed. That gravy is delicious! I was a little concerned about chicken instead of traditional cube steak but my god I'll be ordering that again. So good. Next time I'm in town I'll be there. Went and checked out the back area and it's a super cool vibe and I loved the open air walk up bar. I'll be sitting out back next time as well. Went in for a weeknight dinner. We opted to eat in the dining room. I think there was only one other group in there. Service was fine. Not overly attentive but didn't feel ignored either. Food was fine too. Nothing terrible but didn't rush to go back either. Hubby and daughter said their burgers were pretty good. I got the one without the bun. It was fine too, although I wished I had ordered one of the other burgers and asked them to hold the bun. Mine was pretty plain and was a single patty. Based on my understanding of cooking a cheeseburger and fries, if you make an effort and use quality ingredients, you will cook a good cheeseburger and fries. J Dub, rejuvenating my confidence American restaurants, makes a great burger. We ordered the generic American double cheeseburger and fries and the fish and chips. There were some more unique burgers on the menu but we wanted to keep it simple. The fish and chips was also quite good. The fish tasted like it had been prepared on site rather than snatched out of the freezer and thrown in the fryer, but I could be mistaken. We would recommend both items. When we walked in the front door, there appeared to be plenty of families having lunch, including some kids that were having a post baseball game celebration. We opted for the back patio. It was a basic patio, and completely empty on the brisk day. I thought people were more rugged out west. To start this place is located on Bond street so great location close to tons of things to do. We come to Bend often and are always looking for the best breakfast spots. Safe to say our search had ended. Inside is very inviting and cozy. The wait stuff was absolutely amazing. Boyden (probably spelled his name wrong) but he was on top of it and so kind. Great place to bring kids they had tables covered in paper with crayons so they kids stayed busy. (We joined in on the drawing as well!) we ordered bloody Mary's and espresso martini which did not disappoint. I wish I took pictures but we were enjoying ourselves so much I didn't even think to. We got our food fairly quickly especially considering they were a packed house. The food was phenomenal to say the least. We ordered chicken fried steak and the breakfast chimichangas. Cooked to perfection Crispy and great portions sizes. We ended up all taking to go boxes because we couldn't finish. Wow! Stopped in here in April on our way through Bend in April. Ordered the clam chowder... it had a very strong and peculiar flavor. Certainly not like any New England style clam chowder I've eaten in the last 60+ years. It was inedible, I sent it back. The server was very kind and understanding. I was not charged for the chowder. Fast forward to tonight. My wife and I are in town again. Thought we would give you another try... very sorry about that! I thought I would order something simple, breakfast for dinner. Biscuits and gravy, with two eggs over medium. The biscuits were HARD! The gravy was peculiar tasting. The eggs were cooked hard. Our server was very gracious, and sent my meal back to the kitchen. Second time around, biscuits were still very dry and hard. Gravy is not a good interpretation of country gravy. Eggs were OK. I was only charged for my wife's meal. Blown away with the glazed donut burger. It was so stinking unique and magically delicious (stealing Lucky Charm's ad campaign from the 80s). Still scratching my head that I ate a donut and a cheeseburger all in one and I didn't want to die afterwards from calorie overload. I want another one today. The clam chowder maybe also one of my favorite clam chowders I've had. I love the one from Ox in Portland and this rivaled it. The deviled eggs were some unique sweet potatoe variety. They were good as well as the Texas burger with the candied bacon. But the show stopper at this amazing find was that donut burger!!! Way to think out of the box and nail it. Dog's included !! Yes, a menu for your dog/ pup, separate from regular menu. We sat outside on the shady patio out back. Place is buzzing with hungry patrons, and gets crowded fast. No sooner did we sit down, we were eating the breakfasts we ordered. I had the fried chicken layered with bacon and cheese covered with a biscuit and smothered with gravy (Mr. October). My son had the smoked pork chop, and my girls each had french toast with berries. Our two pets each got their own meal from the "Pup menu". They ate so fast. All staff members were super great, and very helpful. The bar there serves patrons outside as well as inside. Three areas make up the whole restaurant. J-DUB is a nice downtown spot, particularly in the back on the patio or the small bar when the weather is good. The front part has been a ghost town every time I've been but maybe it gets busy at other times. - Draft beer list is good but certainly not a standout here in beertown. They do feature local beers though, which is a plus. Prices are in line with other places. A glass of wine, however, is a bit expensive. But that too seems to be typical. - The small bar I mentioned is too small. There are also a few inside tables in the bar area and several patios tables that are much more inviting. And this from a dedicated bar sitting person. You can also sit at the bar outside but I find the stools to be about three or four inches too low relative to the counter top, which makes it uncomfortable. The stools themselves are quite uncomfortable. - J-DUB's menu is typical bar food, although I know the kitchen staff takes pride in their craft. I just don't see it reflected on what they offer. The burger is fine but not one of the best in Bend. My vegetarian spouse is not terribly impressed. - Barkeeps are super friendly in the Bend way. J-DUB is one of those places in Bend where I want it to be good because everyone else likes it and I live near downtown. I like downtown pubs. If I had friends who wanted to meet up here, I'd happily go and have a good time. But ... J-DUB is just not a destination for me. They need a larger draft list, better bar stools, and if you want my wife to come too, a better menu and maybe a nice glass of $5 pinot gris. A-OK, which is not bad. read more

I was able to get in and out for dinner quickly. The huevos rancheros were great. The waitress was friendly and kind.

I had the clam chowder and it was wonderful, both creamy and full of clams. The service and ambiance were both high level.

After reading the reviews to find best breakfast places in Bend, J Dub was definitely on our list. The pictures of the Mr. OCTOBER AND CHICKEN FRIED CHICKEN, were absolutely on point and lead us to the best meal of the weekend. We serve seated right away inside which was very nice! When we were seated we realized it was just past 12pm. And we were devistated to think we missed out on breakfast. We asked our server if there was any way we could still order from that menu and she said it was fine. What a relief! We are definitely breakfast lovers over lunch. 2 of us ordered the chicken fried chicken. For me I asked to substitute the sweet potato tots! I saw them on the plate next to us and they looked crispy. My husband orded the Mr. October and daughter ordered biscuits and gravy. Let's just say, to begin with we almost always try the chicken fried steak or chicken when on vacation. It's our favorite. The sauce was not only made from scratch, but it had tons of sausage with an explosion of flavor. But the best part was the chicken fried chicken was breaded and fried to perfection. When you feel the crunch as you cut it while being drenched in gravy, you know they executed it to perfection! Perfect over easy eggs and a fluffy made from catch biscuit. The sweet potatoe tots were the perfect substitute for the Obrien potatoes my son had. They added just a touch of sweet to accent the savory CFC. The house sauce in the bottle was delicious as well. Mayo, catsup, horseradish type sauce gave it a kick. The Mr. October sounded so good from my husband. The bacon with fried chicken breast stuffed in a biscuit covered with sausage gravey, oh and some scrambled eggs inside, he was in heaven. Usually I would ask for a bite but I was in euphoria myself with my CFC. Next time, I would probably ask for a slice of bacon on my CFC to bring the two dishes together. He probably would have liked over easy eggs on his Mr. October but didn't think it was an option. The surprise was the side of Blueberry Pancakes my son ordered to split with my husband. I had a bite and they were the most incredible tasting pancakes I have ever had at a restaurant. Tasted hardy, different than just white flour blah pancakes. It tasted almost like a little cinnamon in there. Amazing! I asked for some jam and they had some rasberry freezer jam packets that kicked it up a knotch. The plastic screens between each booth in the back were a Covid precaution addition. I can understand why. I actually didn't mind it. Makes each table seem more private. The servers were sooo friendly. At the end I asked her to thank the chef for doing a breakfast order after 12pm. I heard her go back and tell them. Thanks! If we weren't going to have the chance to have breakfast I probably would have gone to one of the other restaurants on my list. Yesterday we waited about 45 minutes to get a table at Chow. I will review them later. The flavors there were very good and unique. The Corned Beef Hash bowl was to die for that my husband shared with me. BUT their chicken fried steak was soggy and the steak was just a steak, not even a pounded tender piece like you would have expected. The blue cheese and mushrooms did add to an explosion of flavor. But I couldn't get over it being soggy. That is why I was soooo thankful for an awesome meal at JDub. Thanks so much JDub we will definitely be back next time we are in town. read more

Good was good to slightly above average. It was about what you'd expect for a grill of this type. I'd go back for sure but nothing was particularly memorable. What was memorable was the service. They were very nice and personable. My wife and I were there out of town and wanted to watch game 7 of the Stanley cup final and they allowed us to sit the whole time and gave us a wonderful seat where we could watch the game.
