We've tried out JL Kitchen twice now, by delivery. They are probably one of the better Chinese restos in the SL area. Their Mongolian Beef is hands down the best compared to the others as it's very flavorful. Sure it doesn't have the fried crispy noodles and is chock full of onions but the flavor can't be beat. Fried Rice with Pork BBQ is also on spot and tasty. Dried Fried Ribs were a little disappointing, as it was just a cut up pork chop and not ribs but, it tasted good. Honey Walnut Prawns were good, a little heavy with the breading and the portion was small, as it was exactly 12 pieces of shrimp. Overall, we like JL as the food is fresh, delicious, and delivery is pretty quick! read more

I work across the street from this place and I have to hold myself back from going everyday to get the won ton soup- It is quite possibly one of the best soups I have ever had in my entire life. No need to even try anything new (Although I'm sure it would be good) The owners are friendl and the prices reasonable. Parking in the back and simple interior. NOT THE ORIGINAL OWNERS. Continue to avoid this place. Charged me the lunch special a dollar extra at 2:58pm when I called at 2:45pm. Said it would be 10mins. Didn't quote the price over the phone. And then over charged me even more for God knows what. Prices went up from the uploaded menu here... Used his calculator for a 6.69 item and 7.69 item. How is that 20.20? +$1 for arriving on time and +$1 for ordering 2 things +$1 for him getting my order wrong and +$1 for not quoting a price before hanging up. The new owner is an a$$hole. Keep your food. Avoid this place...Search Asia Delight down the way maybe.   This place used to be great, newspaper review worthy. Called to make a big order as in a couple of party trays but this lady who answered didn't understand a word I was saying , passed me to another lady had no clue what I was saying and hung up !!! Delicious Chinese food cooked by their Chinese chef, it's very authentic and food quality is superior compared to other restaurants in the area. I support this restaurant because of their food quality and friendly staff. I ordered food and had it delivered. The driver called me to ask me to come out to the parking lot to get my food. Once he arrived, he gets out with my food to tell me I didn't pay. I told him I paid for my order online. He tells me no your food is paid for but not the tip. He didn't want to give me my food until I said i would call the restaurant and get a refund. He stated no you have your food but next time time you have to tip the driver. I will never order from this place again. read more

JL Kitchen is probably one of the most overlooked restaurants in San Leandro. I live nearby and I myself would have probably pass on this place if it wasn't for the close proximity. It is your classic "hole-in-the-wall" gem. They have a wide assortment of foods as many Chinese restaurants do. I got the orange chicken, beef and broccoli, honey walnut shrimp, and fried rice. Be aware!!! Their lunch and dinner food taste like two completely diff chef cooking. We eat here a lot because it's super close to us. Their lunch special is yummy and good deal. Not a fan! They've changed ownership quite a few times. Walked in today thinking it would be better since they have new menus and the inside looked spiffed up, I was wrong. Girls taking orders had dry personalities and I felt like I was being rushed. The food was ready quick, almost too quick. Came home and I am completely unsatisfied! Pork fried rice tasted like fish and was over salted. Chow mein was decent but over salted. Orange chicken tasted like garlic, with zero orange flavor whatsoever. It almost tasted like everything was made in the same pan. Will not be ordering from here anymore. read more

Thought we'd give this place a try since it's right around the corner from our house. Sad to say we won't be ordering from here again. I don't know about the inside of the place or customer service because hubby picked it up, but I didn't have any trouble when I called in so I'm giving an additional star for easy ordering... Here's what we had: Beef chow mein: this was simply noodles with onions and pieces of beef. Zero flavor, besides the onions might have been bad. Sesame chicken: dime sized pieces of what might be battered chicken that tasted and felt like mush. Again, no flavor. I gagged. Salt and pepper fish: The only edible dish and was still pretty bland. The batter wasn't crispy... the pieces were really soft but might have been because it was take out. Didn't taste any salt or pepper... Needed more flavor! We had the above three dishes with steamed rice and our total was $28. Big waste on unappetizing food. read more

It's Fast Food and its Americanized. This family owned joint is always packed. The chefs are from China. So they know their stuff. You definitely get more bang for your buck at this funny shaped building. If you've really got an appetitie, and I mean really, no room for wussies here, try to tackle the sweet n sour pork with mongolian beef combo which comes with a hefty serving of fried rice AND chow mein. Picked up, House fried rice, General Chicken, and Eggplant. All the dishes were very hot and very good. Good flavor and not oily. We have ordered there around 5 times, we have always been satisfied. I think this is the best Chinese food place in San Leandro and we have tried many. read more

The one and only spot i would EVER order Chinese food and actually enjoy it! I know its full of MSG and really greasy but i like my Greasy MSG filled Beef chow fun! I love their Salt and pepper squid, always makes me smile. I have been going here since my parents moved to San Leandro and when i get the craving to eat Chinese food, I'm here! Has definitely changed. Had it several months ago and was great. Went last night. Had walnut prawns and pumpkin with prawns. Started having strangest sensation of pressure in my head and my voice sounded very far away. My fiancé got a bad headache that still hasn't gone away. The shrimp fried rice is amazing! I always get the lunch special in garlic sauce. Most of the time the broccoli is good and crunchy but once in a while I'll get some that are soggy like they've sat in the sauce for too long. Regardless, this is my go to for Chinese food now.
