The best ever "War Won Ton Soup" is what you should order. If you like it spicy then ask for the Chili sauce and add a little to the top. So my crew and I decided to try J L Kitchen again... I have reduced my rating 1 star because of the following: 1. I ordered 2 diet cokes and 2 regular cokes, we only received 1 of each. 2. The driver told me to call the business to reduce the amount owed. 3. We waited almost an hour and a half when "Eat24" said 45 mins to an hour. 4. I ordered the Gravy Chow Fun with BBQ Pork, last time they cut up the BBQ Pork into small perfect morsels, this time they were big slices. 5. No paper plates were given, we did not order any lunch specials so I don't see why we didn't receive any plates like last time. 6. I requested more Salt and Pepper on my wings and pork chops but more was not added, they tasted the same as last time. I expect better customer service when we spend $50. I might try them again in the future but I hope they straighten things up around there. read more

But J&L Kitchen is where you go and you know that the food will be good, cooked to order and tastes great. They're been around forever. Definite must haves are the fried calamari. When we're sick, we crave their wor won ton soup with noodles (soooo yummyy!!!) and I always get their fried rice with special fried chicken wings (I love the pieces of onions and jalapenos). There's a few small tables to eat at. The place is always clean. But weirdly, it's always cold in there too. My old high school friend's parents own this place. Only negative thing is they're closed on Mondays. And oddly enough, I seem to go here on Monday nights where I'm reminded that they're closed and disappointingly have to find someplace else to get dinner. read more

In fact, I loved them so much that when I moved to Virginia for a few years I spent the entire time scouring the city for a restaurant that carried something similar and never found it. Shrimp fried rice was a little sparse would've like a little more veggies and eggs in the rice and the shrimp was super salty. Beef chow fun was ok, can't complain about this dish. Also had the West lake soup, it tasted like how all the other chinese restaurant prepares it but they used a lot of fresh cilantro and you mix in. It tasted pretty good but I'm so used to other preparation of the soup, I keep trying to find faults with this one and I can't find any. The salt and pepper chicken wings were on point. Got four items to dine in with one other person: Egg flower soup, fried wontons, schezuan beef, and pork chow fun. Egg flower soup met all of my expectations, except the portion size was larger than I expected even for small. Cheap too. Very very tasty. The egg was really light and not rubbery at all. Fried wontons were a bit of a surprise-- I was expecting them to be stuffed with something but they were only the wrappers. Not bad, but the price justified the product. Schezuan (sp?) beef came with a free side of rice. Right on. This was also very good-- lots of really good flavors and the spice was not overwhelming. I pumped the spice up with some of the chili oil they had on the table and it made it absolutely perfect. Pork chow fun was the star of the meal. Not despite the texture of the noodles being very delicate there was a mesquite quality to the dish and the pork was really yummy. Also, there was complimentary tea. The decor is humble. But don't get me wrong. This place is all substance no flash. Quick service, delicious food, and the team behind the counter was really nice and helpful. I'll definitely be coming back. read more

San Leandro, CA I ordered wor wonton soup I didn't like the wontons it was thick like dumplings and they only gave two small shrimp and few pieces of meat. The soup tasted like hot water and soy sauce. I also ordered the Mongolian beef too much onions and the portion is small. They put it in a small tupper ware type plastic container trying cut back in food portions. You will get more portions of they used the traditional large Chinese boxes. $7.50 per dish not worth the price. This location used to be good when the original owners ran the place. These new owners are not good cooks. Not going back soon. read more

My family has been going here since it was Rose's Cafe. My dad even worked there for awhile when he was a kid. The owner is the sweetest lady and ALWAYS remembers EXACTLY how my husband likes his wor won ton soup, no matter how long it's been since we last visited. I don't know many chinese food places that aren't greasy, use MSG, or tend to use the same sauce. I tired to use EAT24 but their app said they can't delivery to my location and I check on GrubHub their app said they delivery. Kind of weird right? Delivery said it will take about 1.2 hrs for delivery and they only took 45 minutes. Thanks for paying attention to customers needs. Third, their prices per plate is not crazy expensive. Average is around 6.99(your normal meat) to 9.99(seafood). They forgot to give me chopstick or any utensil but I was at home so it really didn't bug me at all. I'm just glad they got the order right and came earlier than expected because man.... I was hungry. The food wasn't something to rave about however their food wasn't terrible. For 6.99 per plate deal I was expecting something really bad. I was really surprised the food was really good. Out of all the choices(there isn't much) around here for chinese food delivery. I would recommend this place. I think this place uses the same sauce for several dishes. A lot of the dishes are very garlick-y. Food is really just OK, but it is so close by, and inexpensive, so we find ourselves getting take out from here more often than we should. The portions are very generous.
