The rooms were a highlight they were very clean, spacious, and comfortable. Everything felt well kept, and it made it easy to relax and enjoy our time there. The location is key walkable to everything . The casino was fun, but I do wish they had more game tables open, especially since it was a Friday. It felt a little limited for a busy night, which was a bit of a downside. Aside from that, the overall experience was good. The hotel itself is nice, and the rooms definitely stood out the most. I'd stay here again and hope to see a little more activity in the casino next time

First things first, The Sands needed a major remodel and change of identity. The Jacobs family has succeeded at that. The property now looks and feels upscale and much, much, much cleaner. The place is fresh. I guess when a casino owner buys up the virtually the entire corridor between their casinos they can also convert a city street to Valet Parking. 3rd Street was free parking and still close enough to walk to downtown events but is now reserved for casino use only. I have not see the remodeled rooms but I am guessing they are inline with the rest of the casino, So far I have only been to Hanna's table and it was early on. I am looking forward to trying J Paul's but not too sure about the mixed reviews on the buffet. A thanks to the Jacobs family for cleaning up downtown in a similar fashion to the Oliver McMillan proposal of 1998. Not every decision has been met with open arms, but growing comes with pains. Can't wait to see wait to see what comes next around the area anchored by the J Resort.

This used to be the old Sands Casino and Hotel but changed hands a few years ago and is now called J Resort after its owner. It's located about 1 block from Casino Row and The Eldorado. I understand it is going thru a remodeling that will expand its casino area. This review is only for my 2 night stay this week. Parking and check in was easy and friendly. My room on the 7th floor was very nice and comfortable. Waiting for an elevator was always less than 15 seconds. I have no complaints and feel lucky to have stayed here especially with my reasonable $ rate. There are 2 guest room towers. I would definitely recommend staying here. There are plenty of slot/video games in the casino but not many table games. I was told that the expansion will add more.

If you get a chance, definitely and I indefinitely try Hannah's restaurant at Jay's casino. Our waiter I believe his name was. Danny was very nice, very polite. Our food was served promptly and the portion size and quality were surprising and amazing. We had the artichoke spinach dip as an appetizer, and oh my goodness that right there would have been enough. It was brought to our table, piping hot and it not only had tortilla chips. It's also served with these twisted breadsticks that are full of cheese! So very yummy. We ended up splitting the fish and chips, which was more than enough for two people, and the fish was crispy and not greasy and I don't know how they make their tartar sauce, but it was yummy. It was also nice that I'm assuming he was the manager supervisor. Andrew was very friendly, attentive and dressed appropriately and was just a very very nice guy that took the time to invite us back. I do have a comped room there sometime in February that I am having difficulty in booking the room myself through their website, but when I do manage to do this, I will let you know how the hotel side of my offers go.

So the wife went to check out the J Resort. This was our first time here since it became J Resort. We checked in and staff were super friendly. Vincent, that guy that checked the us in was amazing.. thank you Vincent! Our room was so nice they have really updated the Resort. We changed and went to the pool. It's was outside just past the parking garage. Good size pool and clean. The staff is so friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again! Would like to say the J Paul's Italian Steakhouse happy hour is really good! Thank you to our bartender Shane he was awesome hook the wife up with a John Daly! The lamb tacos were excellent!! Cheers

Horrible! I stay in King Tower 15/F. Unclean carpet. People's dead skin found. AC is super noisy like airplanes engine. Toilet still have poop mark. Toilet seat cover wobbling and shifting down into toilet hole. House keeping service upon request due to unforseen situation. Even I requested, they only come empty trash and provide new towels. Never stay in such bad hotel before. Never come again.

    Very nice and clean room

LOVE LOVE LOVE this hotel. Room is clean. From the room service to the restaurant services, to the people who work in the gamble hall, all are very attentive and extremely friendly, so we dun mind to tip them great, which makes everyone happy during the trip!

This place is so cool and not cool at the same time…read more.. Here's the bad stuff... 1. Super construction going on and the parking lots are a mess, you don't know to go right or left and I got lost finding entrances even after 3 days.really dirty too. 2. The dirt doesn't stop there. Our first room we were given was so smokey I mean burning eyes smokey. There was a box fan sitting outside the room so I think they tried to air it out but it was like someone burned a cigar in there and just closed the door. 3. After going thru a room swap we were given another room. Fine but there was a dirty rag left in the bathroom counter with hairs all over it. Not a huge deal but still, come on right? 4. The late check out. Went to the front desk night before to make sure late check out was ok since we were at an event that morning. No problem they said you got until 4 with an additional fee. Great right? Nope since our room was a room that was attached to a suite they needed us out before that. Just come on again! 5. The service is just rude everywhere. I mean everyone you encounter! The Rim restaurant guy host in a suit..., I'm convinced was high as a kite. Don't believe me, go there and talk to him, holy! The security desk, rude and unhelpful. Anyone you call on the phone from the room, rude. I'm not expecting Disney customer service, but come on man! Someone teach these guys some customer service skills. So the good.... The resort is really cool. Bowling video games, nice casino, everything to spend a fun weekend. We may even come back just to do the pool and stuff to do there. To wrap it up... Lower your expectations. Your not going to get the cleanest room. Most certainly you will be treated rudely. It's a place that could be so epic but falls short due to just taking short cuts in the customer service, organization and just plain care about your whole experience factor. P.S. you will receive at least 5 text messages telling you about how great their spa is.

The room was okay--nothing special, but no major complaints. The Starbucks is always packed, which seems to be the norm here. Today, I visited the Second Street Marketplace downstairs. The young employee who assisted me had very poor customer service. He didn't acknowledge me, didn't offer a bag for the items I purchased, didn't say thank you, and seemed more interested in chatting with his coworkers than helping customers. Based on what I observed, I wasn't the only customer having issues with him. We also requested housekeeping service for our room. We were informed there would be a charge, which was fine with us. However, after the service, the room looked exactly the same. The bed was made, but that was about it. Now, let's talk about the restaurant downstairs. I ordered a steak, but they brought me chicken instead. I clearly told the waitress I wanted steak. When I pointed out the mistake, another older employee insisted that what I was served was steak. I'm pretty sure I know the difference between chicken and steak. Fortunately, Teddy stepped in, listened to my concern, apologized, and had my order corrected. That is what great customer service looks like. Even our waitress suggested that I just eat the chicken, but guests should never be told to accept something they didn't order. The casino and the room itself were good, and I enjoyed those aspects of my stay. However, many of the staff members could benefit from additional customer service training. To corporate, management, the CEO, owner, or whoever is responsible: please invest in better customer service training. Your guests deserve a better experience. #CustomerService #Management #Hospitality #GuestExperience

After nearly 10 months of planning, I expected the basics to be handled correctly. When we checked in, we were given a double room instead of the King room we reserved. I went back to the front desk and was told that because they were oversold for Thursday night, there was no way to move us into a King room at all during our stay. That explanation didn't make much sense--they confirmed they had King rooms available Tuesday and Wednesday, but because of the Thursday overbooking, they couldn't honor the reservation for any of the nights. So even though I booked months in advance and had already arrived, I was effectively bumped in favor of guests who hadn't even checked in yet. To make matters worse, only 2 out of 5 elevators were working the entire stay, which led to long waits (up to 20 minutes to get down in the morning) and added frustration. After the fact, I looked through other reviews and saw that this seems to be an ongoing issue, not a one-off situation. Between the reservation not being honored and the operational problems, it was a pretty disappointing experience overall. Skip this place.

In the morning, we waited over 30 minutes while valet staff searched for another guest's lost key. Later that same evening, we ended up experiencing the exact same thing ourselves. The valet staff lost our key and it took over 20 minutes for them to locate it. They did not think to hire more staff for the busy Memorial Day weekend and the basketball/volleyball/adult softball tournaments that were going on in the area. The night before we had to leave our car halfway in the street because valet was so backed up. The guest service manager told us to leave it half away in the street. The next day the same manager blamed the desk agent for losing our key when they did the same thing in the morning when she wasn't there. Unfortunately, this caused us to be late to a magic show we were attending at Grand Sierra Resort. I understand mistakes can happen, but seeing the same issue happen multiple times in one day shows a serious lack of organization and professionalism. Valet should make the experience smoother, not create unnecessary stress and delays.

One positive thing I want to say about the cafe restaurant, the workers every one of them are giving 150% working hard.My compliments to them. One thing that I've noticed and it's very negative is that the prices have jumped up, which has happened in a lot of places, but this is a little extreme. For example, they had a senior menu. They cut out approximately 1/2 of their senior menu, which is ridiculous. A lot of the locals come there and many are seniors the options on the menu amount to almost nothing for seniors now.. BRILLIANT SND THOUGHTFUL! Example on the regular breakfast menu they HAD a chicken fried steak it was a big chicken fried steak like all the other breakfast restaurants in the area now when you order that you get a small chicken fried steak, which was originally from the seniors menu a very downsized small chicken fried steak. Once again that chicken fried steak is not available on the senior menu instead they're using that small chicken fried steak for the regular menu. You're paying almost double and getting 1/2 of the value. CHEAP!! Also, throughout the casino, it always reeks of cigarettes smoke at one point I thought it was a very nice casino. Now I think it's rundown. Nobody really cares about anything. They're very few employees working the floor. We stayed in the Sky Tower and had a nice view of the Sierra Nevada mountains. There were some bits of noise at times out in the hallways but nothing too distracting. The elevators are still tucked away and very hidden and every single pair of escalators we found had one side broken so you had to just wander around until you found an elevator or a working escalator. There were also random 1 way escalators scattered about which was off The actual elevators in the main lobby were a nightmare. No matter if there were a lot of people or nobody, they would take forever to come down (and I believe one was broken). There was a time in particular there were 20-30 people all waiting around for the elevator. I asked an employee where the stairs were (since I was on the second floor). It took two employees to even figure out if there were stairs, and then I had to wait around for security (who never came) in order to go up them. The room, while decently clean and modern, was missing hand soap, and the AC rattled extremely loud when the compressor would turn on. I finally figured out I could jam a pillow in between the bed and AC to keep it quiet. Throughout the stay, the front desk people were very unhelpful, either not knowing anything, or just saying "yeah I can't help, go ask the bell hop". The only saving grace was the midway, which while expensive, was a nice little break for people like us with little kids.
