Supposed to open at noon but it seems it can be open as late as 12:15 sometimes if the managers are running late. Friendly, quick service, We ordered the 12-piece pan fried gyoza which seems to have bern fried on an egg in a ring. Tasty sauce! We also ordered a roll with California roll in the middle and avocado/tuna on top, as well as a roll with eel on top. We also enjoyed a spicy miso ramen and a vegetarian miso ramen. It's a nice and cozy spot the service is always friendly and welcoming. We always sit up at the bar top with Charlie and we trust every recommendation he gives us his choice of sushi for that day and we have yet try a sushi roll we don't like from there! It's been a NYE tradition that my son and I will grab sushi before spending the night at home. We planned on visiting our usual sushi spot, but learned they had closed last month. I searched up J Sushi & Ramen and decided to give it a shot, as my son and I usually do dinner sushi dates. It's in the little shopping area with other businesses, so parking isn't an issue. The place is small and quaint. My son loved how it was decorated. When we arrived, there was a gentleman at the bar, then us. We had come just in time because after us, there was about 6 dine in parties and 2 parties ordering to go. Drink orders came quick. They do canned sodas (2.50), so I don't think it's free refills. I ordered the Monkey Brain Roll and the Hungry Roll, while my son ordered a Teriyaki Chicken bowl and a side of edamame. As I said, it did get busy after we arrived and I noticed orders coming out was a tad bit on the slower side. From my view, it looked like there was only one chef completing the orders. Based off the reviews, I really wanted to like this spot. I love supporting family businesses in my area, but I can't say this is going to be my new "to go" place. I love spicy in my rolls. Monkey Brain was said to have spicy tuna on top, while Hungry was said to have spicy crabmeat on top. I was pretty disappointed when neither roll gave me the spice I was expecting. I ordered a side of spicy mayo, which left me with more disappointment because it was watery and still lacked spice. I was even more disapointed when I saw that they charged me 75 cents for it. I haven't had a restaurant charge me for spicy mayo in a long time, so it annoyed me a bit. I may have missed that note on the menu. The rolls weren't bad, but they didn't taste the freshest. My son did enjoy his Teriyaki Chicken bowl. I give it four stars because I'm hoping it was just an off order. Stopped by after a yelp event in the area. It was a cold night so my friend and I were in the mood for ramen. He got sushi I got ramen. I don't remember the name of the type of meat and ramen I got, but it was legit. Although I wasn't blown away, I wasn't disappointed. Good portions, price was fair and they have a wide selection of food. They serve alcohol too so if that's what you're into, that's cool. I enjoyed my visit. But the big downer here was the wait time. Almost 30 to get our food after placing an order. Gyoza was delicious. So that was a plus. Service was ok. Don't take my 3 stars as a bad review. Just basic and good. Again, not bad or disappointed. It's a great place to eat I love the food. The service is great. But the only thing that I don't like is that the older lady that's there when we pay she be expecting a tip. When we didn't write anything on the tip section she even called out to us as we were leaving that we didn't tip. Like lady we don't have to tip if we don't want to but also the fact that's she asks for a tip is crazy. Someone I know also went and didn't give them a tip so the lady ran outside and went up to them to their car and told them they didn't tip like wtf you don't do that. the service and the food, in that order. it's small and cozy, has a 4 seat sushi bar and totally a place that locals frequent. a double ramen with extra noodles satisfies two Littles. the avocado cucumber salad is refreshing. and there's always a special for a roll or ramen you've been thinking about. i think the only small detail is American Express isn't accepted. but it's a minor detail, maybe only a fractional point. still discovering the menu, so I'll be back more in the future. of course, the sushi bar right near a TV helps to watch your sport and enjoy a beverage and manage a few sushi and sashimi with your chopsticks. read more

My dad and I tried J Sushi & Ramen a few weeks ago. The restaurant is sort of tucked away in the back corner of a lot. There was plenty of parking available right around lunch time. There is a lunch special menu available from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM. I decided to order a Chirashi Bowl ($12.99) off the lunch menu. After waiting for about 15 to 20 minutes, our food was brought to us outside. I waited until I got home to dig in. I think there were about three pieces each of albacore, yellowtail, salmon, and tuna in my Chirashi Bowl as well as a piece of shrimp. It also came with lots of sushi rice. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and amount of food, especially for it being a lunch portion. The miso soup that it came with was just average. I would definitely like to come back for another Chirashi Bowl, perhaps when it is safe to dine in. read more
