It was fun watching everything being prepared and having each piece served throughout the meal. Of everything we tried, the black cod was easily my favorite. It was so good that I had to order another one at the end. So technically, I guess I had the 14-item omakase. No regrets! Oshima is a pretty small and intimate restaurant, so I would recommend making reservations in advance. We booked ours through Yelp and were seated practically right away when we arrived. Parking was also easy. The restaurant is located in a small commercial strip center with plenty of parking available, so that wasn't an issue at all. Overall, I really enjoyed my first omakase experience. The sushi was fresh, sitting at the bar made the meal more enjoyable, and that black cod alone is enough to bring me back. If you're an omakase regular or, like me, looking to try it for the first time, Oshima is definitely worth a visit.

The green tea flan was grainy and overcooked where the bottom had a bread texture...$10 is a reasonable price but quality was poor. $3 hot green tea was fine. For 2 orders of 13 pc omakase, 1 hot green tea, 1 uni pasta, and 1 green tea flan, the damage ended up being just under $400 after tax and tip. I have never had a negative experience eating here. I'm sat as quickly as possible, and my water arrives immediately. There is no question about this. It does not matter how many friends I bring, we will have our waters when we sit down, no issue. Kim and Dulce were a dynamic duo, taking care of our every need without us even needing to ask. Refills on water and checking in on us after we finished a round of sushi, they were on top of everything. Not for a moment did we feel like we were a second thought in this restaurant, even though we were in the corner of the outside patio! I've never had a bad experience here, but Kim and Dulce really made us feel welcome in my dining experience tonight, and we absolutely have to harp on them again. They were fantastic! This is such a steal, especially considering how the omakase already comes with a piece of bluefin nigiri, but you can still choose to get more bluefin in your roll. My only criticism would be that they can go a little heavy on the wasabi sometimes, but that's more of a personal preference since I prefer to eat sushi without wasabi at all. We came at around 6:30 on a Thursday and got seated right away. Our server was very friendly and helpful. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, and parking was plentiful and easy. Kaarage: Would not order this again, it was probabably the thing we enjoyed the least from what we ordered. More like chicken nuggets and less like a classic Kaarage. Sushi Burrito: I always look for interesting things on the menu and got this. It tasted quite good but was also very "fusion" in the way it was plated and tasted. In soy paper with a large heaping of artificial crab. Softshell Crab: The best I've had in a long time, so well cooked and not oily. Ika-Uni: Squid and uni with a hint of wasabi, unique dish and delicious if you like squid and Uni. Seared Sea Bass Nigiri: We got this toward the end and it was amazing!

Some of the best I've had in the area considering how close it is located to competitors like Ooshima and Kaigen etc. The fish all came dressed, which was to be expected. It was all pretty delicious except it was all just a little bit sweet for my taste.. I prefer more savory, salty, or lemony. That being said, the quality made up for the preference in taste which could easily be remedied with some soy sauce, ponzu, lemon, etc. The bite of Wagyu nigiri was genuinely the best wagyu I've ever had. We also tried the mussels and agedashi tofu for hot appetizers. Would 100% recommend either dish. Overall, happy with the experience as wifey was a happy birthday girl. We did not have room to try any regular rolls so I cannot comment on that. The one negative thing I will say is to absolutely skip the handrolls - any of them. The machine compacted rice made a roll that should be delicate feel mishandled and ruined the texture/experience of that roll. That being said, will definitely be coming back again for some more of the best quality nigiri in the area.

Everything was unbelievably fresh and beautifully presented. The quality of the fish really stood out. We learned that the chef is extremely particular about his fish. If something comes in from a vendor and isn't up to his standards, he sends it back. He also doesn't cut the fish until you actually order it. After eating here, you understand why. The texture, temperature and freshness were on another level. We also had the scallops topped with uni and caviar , which were amazing, and the tuna toast was so simple but SO good.
