J Timothy's has always been a favorite place for my family to go. With a pretty extensive menu, they always have something for everyone. The only reason they didn't get five stars is because Everytime I get the special, it tastes like it's weeks old and dry, no matter what it is. A past friend who used to work in the kitchen confirmed that they recook catered meals yesterday's best as the special in attempts to cut food cost. But in my opinion if your going to sell something as fresh and for 22 dollars, make it better. The wings are great though! read more

Visited here today and had a most pleasurable experience. There was no wait, the staff was friendly, and the food was good. Calamari was good with marinara, the chicken tostada salad was very big and flavorful, and the nachos were crisp with the stuff on the side. All in all a great experience. Chef who orders the food is clearly an idiot, Gordon Ramsey would have had a field day with this one. but it gets better, my wifes order was incorrect, they gave her the wrong thing, mine was completely overpriced, strip steak, could have made this at home for 1/2 the price, my sons sub steak sandwich was soggy and flat. and on top of it all, they didn't even bother to knock something off the bill for such disgraceful service. i felt bad for the waitress, she must have apologized 20 times for the kithcen screwups. J Timothy's stands out as a regional draw and original, privately owned location. The location itself is large. It has a large, classic restaurant great for groups and an intimate experience. It has a bar area with a few screens and about a dozen small tables about a horseshoe bar. It also has multiple private rooms, nicely designed, for everything from big 20+ person groups to much large ones. If they've got a claim to fame, it's their delicious wings. They don't try to use a dozen plus sauces like Slider's down the street. Instead they offer 'dirty' wings. These wings are sauced, deep-fried to a crispy exterior, and then sauced again before serving. Their wings are worth at worst a 6-wing appetizer for every table. Overall, the menu should be described as a cross between New England style food, American comfort food, and Irish meets English cuisine. A lot of the menu is original and refreshing. It changew to reflect seasonal tastes. It is original and what I love best is that J.Timothy's is Connecticut. It is not a chain. It has private rooms for everything from bachelorette parties to retirement wine and cheese platter parties of 25 people. But it is unique and clearly well run and it has character the same way Central Perk ('Friend'), Monks ('Seinfeld'), and the aptly named 'Cheers' bar were memorable venues. read more

The atmosphere was very comfortable, the service was fantastic and the food was great. I had the "dirty" honey bbq wings and I really enjoyed them. A unique tavern with one of a kind wings. Had the famous dirt wings in Buffalo & honey barbecue. Both were excellent and we're layered with flavor. I liked the slight char taste of these double cooked wings. Handmade fried mozzarella was good, but the bottom triangles breading was soggy because it sat in a puddle of marinara. I feel like I won the lottery. Stopped by chance and enjoyed the best meal I've had in years. Every bite was full of flavor and quality. We waited about 30 minutes for a table but it was busy for a very good reason. The "dirty" honey bbq wings were by far the best wings I've ever had. It was a little loud but it's the right environment for that. We were seated fast, got drinks fast and wings fast. The dirty honey BBQ wings are great, was ranked 1st in CT and 2nd in the nation. I order a sandwich called, three little pigs. The sandwich had fried pork, honey ham, bacon, American cheese, fried egg, and pretzel bun! Went to JTims for a drink and a app with my husband during day. The older women that was working was rude and short with answering questions we had regarding a particular martini and specials. When I received my martini it was half full. I asked her why is it not filled like a normal martini she retorted w/ a smirk because are glasses are bigger and that's how we serve them! My husband gave me the look as to drop it, it's not worth it. We asked questions about specials and she had an attitude once again. We finished our drinks and left disgusted. I work in the service industry and we have the same glasses and they are filled like normal martinis. I asked a server that worked at Jtims if this was normal and she said it was not.
