I had heard about the wings so had to come here and try them. The parking lot was busy yet we got a table right away. They have a nice selection of local craft beers. Every year I try to come here after the 90's con! Last year I wasn't so lucky! I couldn't get a table.This year I made sure we had reservations. I came here w/ a party of 4. The waitress was so sweet & she was on point w/ her service. We ordered a bucket of golden honey bbq "dirty style" ( fried and sauced, then fried again and sauced again) bone in wings. Amazing dining experience. It was pretty busy but there wasn't long of a wait. Our server was very kind and the whole experience felt easy and ran smoothly. The restaurant follows its vibe very well. It's always great to find things on the menu that work when doing keto. The Gorgonzola Caesar salad plate was delicious! The beef patty was definitely ground sirloin and delicious. The other dish our party tried was the short rib melt which was good too! The service is always consistent here and the tavern atmosphere is unmatched! I am a wing guy and I asked around where I can find good wings. I was told to try J Timothy's. I never get to go because it is always so busy. I was off on a weekday and decided to go there for lunch. It was not too busy because they just open. There was plenty of seating when we got in. There were enough spaces between the tables, which I like. We got sat down quickly and the nice waitress took our orders. I ordered the Honey Gold BBQ wings and a basket of fries. Of course I needed to be a bit "healthy" and got extra veggies. I got the wings "Dirt style" where they fried it, sauce it, fried it again and sauce it again. It was delicious and crispy. The fries were also amazing and crisp to perfection. We didn't finished the meal and had to pack the leftovers. The waitress took the plates and packed it neatly in boxes. I kept hearing about J Timothy's through YouTube, Yelp, and the Wing Addicts show that they had one of the best wings in Connecticut. While I was in the area I had to come try them. I only came for the wings. I've heard their Dirt Wings are the best. They fry and sauce the wings and then fry them again and sauce them again. My daughter and I headed in and there was a thirty five minute wait. The restaurant was really busy and all the tables were full. My daughter and I did go on a Super Bowl weekend and a lot of people ordered wings from catering. They had a whole area just for wings to be picked up. When I looked at their website there wings were sold out for Super Bowl weekend. My daughter and I were immediately seated when I got the text that our table was ready. We already knew what we wanted. We were here for the wings!!! We ordered ten wings with Sweet Red Chili sauce. The wings were out in about fifteen minutes. The place was busy so I was expecting it to be a longer wait. The wings were delicious. The wings were crispy, not overcooked, seasoned well, and sauced just right. My daughter and I ate all the wings. I can see why they're called one of the best wings in Connecticut. Even though the establishment was busy, are waitresses was very nice and she provided great service. She always had a smile on her face which was great considering she was hustling and bustling throughout the restaurant. What an experience! We went on a whim due to friends saying how good it was. We were able to find a spot at bar due to it being absolutely packed at 12:30 on a Friday. The last several times we have ordered the wings, which are NOT cheap, are rubbery and not "dirt" as we always order and consistently don't receive. The chicken tenders are frozen and mushy. We were seated promptly in a converted wine cellar. Much more intimate there compared to the hustle and bustle of the main floor. The wings were overcooked and lightly crispy. The Irish nachos were loaded with toppings but the chips were plain. The Cheddar and ale soup was a very good dip for the chips but way too thick as a soup. The French onion soup had bread but it was not croutons. Meant that the bread was a soggy blob at the bottom of a beef and onion flavored broth. Price wasn't too bad, about $55 without tip. Pricy, but the portions are massive. It's good food, but the food is not the star. The star is the company you bring and the drinks you get. We order way toooooo much but it was great to have samples of a bunch of the appetizers. I told her we had to order the wings dirty style. And she is from the midwest and they didn't disappoint! We love J Tims, we always start with a giant pretzel and it comes with their amazing beer cheese soup to dip. My husband and I split the Buffalo cauliflower which was good but not as crispy as I would have liked and the eggplant sandwich with fries, the fries were good as was the sandwich. The service was fantastic and super patient with my very slow to order mil. The ambience of this old school tavern is unmatched with low lighting fireplaces and wood everywhere. The beers on tap are a good variety of local brewery and the regular familiar brands. How have I NOT reviewed our absolute favorite place for chicken wings?! WOW- the signature dirt wings here are TDF!! Hands down by me, the BEST. WINGS. In CT! Staff is awesome & so hardworking! They are literally running and totally observant. My glass was never empty and our plates were quick, steamy hot and fresh. I finally got to try the legendary dirt style wings and they were delicious. I couldn't decide on which flavor of wings I wanted so our awesome waitress, Ali, suggested I combined the Original Buffalo & Honey Gold BBQ, and I was very pleased with what I got. Best spot in the state for wings! Grab a fee friends and get a bucket of dirt style wings and you won't be disappointed. I've been going here since I was a teenager and this place will never get old to me. Along with the bucket, I like to get a side of fries and usually a draft beer! I think they only allow reservations for parties of 6 or more, so just get there earlier to wait for a table. You can also wait upstairs which is seated at a first come first serve basis.
