Food is pretty tasty, my chili rojo chicken burrito said spicy on the menu and I was pleasantly surprised when it was! My wife's chili verde was also pretty good. This is definitely a great spot to get some decent food, decent drinks and amazing service with a bunch of friends. Came in on a whim to have some Friday night meatless eats and a drink to start Spring Break. The location, ambiance, and decor were fantastic! I love their bar set up, the amount of TVs for the space was great, and if there was a private party, I could see it being held in the bar or on the patio. The rest of the restaurant was nice and spacious. They had reasonable happy hour food and drink prices. The potato tacos were a 3/5, just a bit soggy. My wife loved her shrimp tacos, and ahi tuna salad. The service was great and fast. Maybe if I go back and try a dish with more protein, I'd have a better appreciation for the food. I did see the regular menu and will have to say it's a bit pricey, but I guess that's how it goes in CA lately. read more

I met up with some friends who had already been there for a couple of hours. So needless to say by the time I arrived they were buzzed! I ordered a double vodka tonic with extra lime and it was great. I only tried the chips and salsa since I'd eaten right before I'd gotten there and they were good as well. I'll have to come back and actually order some food but the staff were attentive and always checking up on us to make sure we had everything we needed. So disappointed! I haven't been here in years, but I LOVED the old location and went there often. Parking in the lot is chaos. Be prepared. We visited with a small group on a Friday night for dinner. Visited the location on a Friday night around 6:30 to celebrate a birthday. Place was pretty empty, we were the largest party (12) The service was extremely slow. You would have thought that it was a full house and everyone was busy. Drinks were coming out slow. The food order wasn't taken until after over an hour of sitting. The waiter had to come back multiple times to ensure that he was taking our order right. The food was bland, missing flavor and some of it was lukewarm. Great place to go for good Mexican food and margaritas. They have a great outdoor patio and their service is great! The restaurant inside is nice too. The bar is usually busy but that is because their drinks are good and they don't skimp on the alcohol. I love their Perfect Margarita! It is all you need! Big, strong and PERFECT!! You have to try it! It's delicious! I usually get the CHILI Verde or the Enchiladas Suizas. They both are great and never disappoint. Been there a few times. My opinion food is over priced. Went again recently and to my surprise the salsa was very spicy and flavorful, which I enjoyed greatly. Ordered a michelada which was also delicious but then came the food. Ordered carnitas 2 taco plate which was about $20 if I remember correctly and was extremely disappointed. Meat was extremely chewy, dry and over cooked. My friends ordered different foods and felt like it was reheated frozen food. I tried to get through one taco but just couldn't do it. I put my plate aside and left it at that. Beans and rice were good though. The server took the plate off the bill without even being asked to. He asked if I would like for it to be remade but I respectfully declined. It's been 50/50 with the food on my visits but the service is always good. The black metal plate that's usually scorching was barely warm, so my veggies weren't fully cooked. Fajitas were edible, just not fabulous. My beans and rice were lukewarm. What's up with that?! My friend got her usual combo with a cheese enchilada and a taco. She told me the enchilada sauce is really good, but her food, too, was just warm. The food came out relatively quickly. I ordered a plate called camarones flores which include shrimp, rice, beans, bacon and bell peppers but when I received my order , the plate only had rice and beans and four tiny shrimps wrapped in bacon that tasted burnt , my order was missing bell peppers. Called on a Wednesday night to see if I needed to make reservations for a party of 8. My name was taken, phone number and time of 6pm. Called back the same night and spoke to another person to up from 8 people to 12. The 2nd person had my name and time and changed it to 12 people. Show up Friday night and told we had no reservation! While they managed to get us seated - service was awful! The restaurant was understaffed and overwhelmed. Food was good. This is our go to for Mexican in town! Their food is consistently good, awesome staff, good drinks, and I know we can get in and out without a big wait. Recommend their chili relleno and diablo shrimp! My new favorite are their fish tacos. The fish is sautéed and seasoned well. Comes with a good chipotle sauce. I've been coming here for years. It's our families favorite Mexican food spot. Lately it's been not so great food wise. The service is always great. I ordered this platter for Mother's Day. I was soo excited being in quarantine and all. I was so Absolutely disappointed. I thought the platter would be amazing and different Appetizers that were separated on a nice platter. It ended up being a giant thing of cheese nachos with everything thrown on top with tomatoes and cilantro it was soggy it was mixed and it was pretty much not edible. It was supposed to be 4499 and I added two large chips and salsa and it was $82 after everything was said and done. The food here was unacceptable and for the price I was super upset when I got home. The carnitas and Chile Verde was dry and chewy and in large chunks that didnt shred very easily. The queso fundito had a layer of grease sitting ontop of it! Heartburn and indigestion are a bite away when ordering this appetizer. This place pre-covid was very good. Now, I'm not certain what blew up, but it is so awful I would not wish this place on anyone. Wife and I stopped for happy hour on a Tuesday. There was one couple in the restaurant and two guys in the bar. I ordered a beer and nacho. Wife ordered two tacos from the regular menu. My beer was warm and my Carne asada nachos were terrible. The meat was dried out and they were so salty they were not edible. There was also some type of salty red sauce all over the nachos, which again tasted horrible. I did mention to the waitress about the dried out jerky meat on my nachos but all she said was that's not good. My wife said her tacos were just OK, then said that taco bell tacos were better. I'm honestly disappointed jacalitos. I have been coming here for YEARS. I came today to sit on the patio and have a few appetizers. And was told I can't sit on the patio (after waiting for a server for 15 minutes) because I had my 5 month olds baby. I let the server know he was asleep and I didn't want to wake him up.... he still asked me to leave because "families" (those were his words) aren't allowed on the patio. I really didn't see how the table in the far corner away from anyone patio was pretty empty) was an issue? If I wanted to eat inside I should have just stayed home. Needless to say, i left. Not one to write reviews but here goes some simple honest truth. 1. The patio should be open to families. 2. The drinks are pricy but decent EXCEPT for Micheladas, if you are a fan, just order something else. 3. Cadillac margaritas are decent in a small tempered glass. 4. The seafood enchilada is delicious but not 19.99 delicious. Had it been 17.99 or even 18.99 We would have ordered another round of drinks. Including fountain drinks (Shirley temples and Roy Rogers) which are also not free refills. I had given this place a try once before based on a lot of friends' rave reviews of the place. The first time out, I have to admit, I wasn't all too impressed. I hate it when restaurants over salt/season their food. My humble opinion is that a lot of restaurants resort to that when they can't coaxe out and highlight the natural flavors in food. After another few months, decided to give it another fair shake...and then I found the Caldo de Res. YUM!!!! I will have that any day of the week and twice on Sundays (except today, where it will be 106 degrees...YOWZA!!!!). It is friggin awesome...fresh, wholesome, satisfying. We tried this place wanting to give another Rosedale Mexican restaurant a try. We went in on a weekday afternoon around 2:00 so the place was pretty cleared out. We were promptly greeted and seated and our drink order was taken. This menu was very big!! As usual with most Mexican restaurants. They returned with our drinks and some chips and salsa and we said we needed a few more minutes to decide. My husband chose the chili verde plate and I selected the cheese enchilada rice and beans. So they promptly took the order asked my husband if he wanted corn or flour tortillas and away she went. The salsa and chips were nothing but average. The salsa was not a pico de gallo it was a runny thin type. Our meal was delivered and my husbands chili verde looked amazing and he verified that it was very good only to confirm it by cleaning his plate. My enchilada plate was very good but cheese enchiladas are not hard to mess up but the enchilada was full of cheese and the sauce was nice. The rice was fluffy and beans had a bit of a lard flavor which I like. We both really liked our meals and definitely will be back it was a really nice meal with great service with decent prices. read more

I had the Albonditas soup and my love had Caldo De Res soup. Both soups were excellent! The atmosphere was pleasant. We left happy and very full! Worth returning! Words can't describe how much I love Jacalito grill. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in all of rosedale!!! The service is insanely amazing and quick even on extremely busy days! One of my favorite parts about this restaurant is their bar and bartender they make some of the best margaritas! Every time I come in now they bring me a spicy margarita without me even having to order it because their customer service is so on point! The servers are ALWAYS awesome and friendly. It's one of my favorite restaurants to eat at in town. It feels like cheers where everyone knows your name, even though they don't necessarily know my name they know my order down to a T! Combo chicken and steak fajitas with a side of toretos ( probably spelled or pronounced wrong) but a side of 3 grilled jalapeños with an extra side if cilantro!
