I love this place. Everything is reasonably priced and filling. The staff is always super friendly and attentive. And last but not least the food is amazing. I started coming here at first for the Peruvian style rotisserie chicken. Its always perfectly seasoned and cooked perfectly. I then tried the tacos. They are awesome when im in the mood for something a little lighter. The steak tacos are grilled to perfection. Topped off with cilantro an pico de gallo. Very good higly recommend. Delicious!!! We tried their cheese and beef enchiladas and their steak burrito. Both were very good! They have wonderful customer service and are very accommodating to added changes. I requested onions to be added to my cheese enchilada and they were very flavorful. Their rice is good. Only suggestion or tip I must share is, ask for double beans. Thanks to a few co-workers, I finally discovered Peruvian Chicken a few years ago. I saw this place, because I frequently go to the other two restaurants in this tiny strip and decided to check it out. I got a whole chicken and some fried yucca and was not disappointed. The chicken was juicy and moist and they gave me that wonderful white and green sauce that they use. I would say it's on par with the other Peruvian chicken places I've tried in Fairfax and the prices are decent. We have been looking for a place to replace our favorite Latin American joint in Woodbridge that closed (Taco Mexico, RIP!), and Jacalito not only has everything I enjoy on the menu, but it's delicious, and closer to home! The food was exquisite - pupusas, tamales and tacos were all wonderful, and the spicy green cilantro sauce was awesome! I was in the mood for some peruvian chicken and decided to give this place a try. And let's be honest, when I say peruvian chicken, I really mean the sauce that comes on the side. Jacalito's was good. The chicken was moist... not as flavorful as I would have hoped, but again, this is where the sauce is supposed to play it's part. The yucca was great! I'd go back and order just a side of yucca. The platanos/maduros were also very good, though I had no use for the side of sour cream they serve with them. The sauce? Eh. The green was spicy... definitely had a kick, great on the white meat section of chicken The white and yellow sauces? They weren't bad. Stumbled upon this place while waiting to pick up our dog from Old Towne Pet Resort. I had the steak quesadilla and thought it was awesome! Seriously. It came out quick and was absolutely delicious. The salsa verde on the side had a kick and tasted homemade. Small family-run restaurant. Clean. Great food at a pretty good price. Had a sweet painting on the wall too. Got steak tacos and one crispy beef. I thought they were just ok, not bad but not overly good. The steak was tasty, but the rest of the ingredients were lacking flavor making for the overall taco to just be so so. The service was little cold. Had to ask for hot sauce and they really didn't seem to happy to hand me one little sauce for my four tacos. Great authentic Mexican. I generaly avoid any place with pictures on the menue but this place is an exception. Fresh ingridients, great corn tortillas, and the best green sauce for the chicken I've had anywhere. The friendly service was above any expectation you might have for a small Mexican restaurant. I usually get take-out for home, but I have eaten in at one of their many tables before. Prices are reasonable. Cashiers are nice. Tables and bathrooms are clean. AMAZING CARNE ASADA! This "Cali Girl" is a little hard to please when it comes to Mexican dishes, and let me say that "I am PLEASED!" I ate it so fast that I didn't even chew it completely! I was happy that they had black beans WITHOUT PORK! The guacamole was even pretty good (although I like it with a little more "kick" to it). My husband ordered a Chicken Chimmichanga....The chicken was flavorful, but didn't have "queso sauce." There was shredded cheese inside of it, but completely plain on top. For this reason, I'm giving it four stars. However, I'm not sure if they offer "queso sauce"...if so, he'll definitely request it next time! Yes, there will be a next time!!!! We loved our food!!! Really good place located off Alban Road. Jacalito Grill says they are a Tex Mex and rotisserie chicken joint. The price is great and the portions are large. The menu is pretty varied so there is something for everyone. They have great combo's if you can't find something you want. I have done both take out and dine in and I recommend you eat there. Eating the food right when it comes out is definitely the way to go. Last time I went I got the Combo #1 - 1/4 chicken, beef taco and chicken enchilada. This place is just OK. I've been to a few places that are alot better. Chicken was cool ok but lacked the flavor I like. Service was good tho, seemed willing to make you satisfied. Overall not a bad place. Some recommendations below but distance is a factor. Senor Chicken (Mount Vernon Ave) There's a good retail shop near there called Super K Center, I picked up some good quality luggage and gifts there at a great price. So, another reason to go there. Crisp and Juicy ( Tysons/Falls Church) - Good place get alot of their orange sauce if you like a little spicy. No good shops around here but Anthony's has some good steak and cheese sandwiches. The Peruvian chicken here is pretty good and a decent size. I work nearby and all of my coworkers love this place, they would probably give this place a 5 star. The salads, burritos, and taco salads come with very generous portions. Another plus about Jacalito are their drinks, they have authentic drinks including fruit drinks and horchata. Jacalito Grill is one of those little hole in the wall type places that you can drive-by for many years before actually stopping in to try it. Well I drove by it for many years myself and finally decided to drop in. As soon as you get out of your parked car you can smell the awesome charcoal smoke coming from this place which gets your taste buds salivating. Must say that the food is really good. Their Peruvian chicken is excellent and for the price you get a ton of food. I've also tried varieties of their tacos and burritos and each time everything has been very tasty. Customer service has always been excellent and the food is brought out fairly quickly. This is one of those places where you can stop by on the way home from work when you don't feel like cooking dinner and get a decent meal on any given day. Sadly I only work nearby not live nearby so My trips there are limited. And Fyi..... Jacalito actually comes from the word Jacal: a hut made of mud and straw. In central and southern american spanish a lot of times when we want to refer to something as small or cute we add the informal "lito" at the end. So Jacalito = Little Hut. Which explains the picture of the Hut on their Menu's. This place blends together the most brilliant offerings for the palate-on-a-budget. Their chicken is really good, not quite on the level of some of the Peruvian Greats in the area, but definitely a "contender". What really caught me off guard was their steak. I was not expecting the steak to be so flavorful. I was pleasantly surprised, and I have to give them their credit. Springfield has some rather expensive eateries for American Grilling, but this place blows them away when you consider the budget, and portion size. I initially I was becoming a patron since I was beginning to agree with other good reviews. Then one evening, I ordered a grilled item to go, and when I got home, the bottom side was completely burnt. Not just a little well done, but a thick layer of hardened, black BURNT. There is no way the cook didn't know it was unacceptable. I don't live in the area, so I called, they apologized and they made another one the next day. You wouldn't hear about that if I didn't just order again ( since they were so good about fixing the last mistake), and again-- burnt, hardened, inedible ribs! They had extra BBQ sauce coated on them to try and cover it up. I am convinced that the cook was AGAIN neglectful and thought he could get away with fixing his mistake by adding extra sauce. BAD, BAD service... NO more burnt food for me! read more

This place is such an awesome surprise for DC's New Jersey/Springfield! The food is really good, cheap and it comes out fast! The waitstaff is really friendly, especially the owner. This was my first time here. As soon as I walked in the door, the guy who works there ran to the register to assist me which made me feel important . I LOVED the fact that the menu has a picture of every single thing that they have (which is a plus plus plus in my book). I ordered the chicken burrito. I liked the fact that when the food was done, he brought it out to me. The portion was a very good size for only $10. I love the overall restaurant environment. It's very relaxing and it's not too hot not too cold. There's music playing but not too loud. There's plenty of room to sit and when I ate there I was the only one inside (it was a rainy day so maybe that's why). I'll definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.
