An Irish pub with real fuckin' Irish people working there! What a fuckin' novel idea! Brogues amuck, sometimes I don't understand what the bloody hell these people are sayin' and I'm already cursin' like them! Okay, not true. I do understand what they are saying because they aren't Irish, they're all Canadians. LIES! No, they're Irish. No, I swear. They're Irish. I punched one of the lasses and her blood was green. Indeed she has the luck of the Irish because she lived to be tipped well by me. So anyway, I've only gone for lunch. The place is near my work and it's next to the Empire State Building. They make delicious french fries. This is important to note. Their grill yellowfin tuna sandwich is delicious. I usually get that. And the fries. Did you catch that? Get the fries. I'm not sure why I'm so hung up on the fries actually because they aren't like seasoned deliciousness of say the curly fry from Arby's, fries from Pommes Frites in the East Village, or the tater tot. Maybe Jack Dempsey's french fries are lightly dusted with crack-cocaine, which makes them desired. The last time I was there was for a bday lunch with my "friend" who got the chicken pot pie, which was more like a vegetable stew with gravy and big muthafuckin' puff pastry rectangle on top. It isn't want American's normally imagine as pot pie, but it's apparently delicious as he ate it all (well, he left some of the pastry un-eaten, but that's because he's a gay and you know how most gays are with carbs). read more

Absolutely loved this place. I'm from Boston and was with my friend who was visiting from Ireland. We were only in NYC for 3 days and 2 nights. We spent both nights at this bar. This is easily one of the friendliest bars I have ever been to. There are a lot of locals who like to hangout here, don't be shy, talk to them it will make it that much more of an amazing time. I went there on a monday night, bartender Joe wasn't good. I had to get his attention in order to have a drink. Finished my beer, never offered me another round. i placed my empty glass close to the beer tap. He passed by and didn't pick it up or make eye contact with us. This review doesn't have much to do with the food or drink but says everything about the service here. My girlfriend along with a few friends and I went here for the UFC fight. The cover was $10 but it came with a free beer (very fair). Long story short we were only here for several minutes before my girlfriend had a fainting spell near the bathroom, not due to anything within the bars control. Vinnie, who I assume is the manager or owner, along with other staff rushed over to offer all of their services from water to a chair to a safe exit out of the bar. They were extremely kind and helpful and Vinnie even gave me his card to call him the next day and make sure she was doing alright. I figure a kind gesture like this shouldn't go unnoticed. This place is absolutely fantastic. The bartenders are super attentive and very friendly, especially Ryder. He's the best bartender I've had the pleasure of meeting since moving to NYC. I've been there several times and everything I've had on the menu has been great. Also, if you're a soccer fan, this is definitely the place to be. I came to Jack Demsey's for an absolutely packed USMNT vs. Mexico game. Lots of fun, fantastic atmosphere for the game. Even though I was traveling for work I was welcomed in by the large crowd of energetic and enthusiastic soccer fans. Fantastic time. The owners seem happy that the local American Outlaws group comes there for games and really get into the spirit of things. Great sports bar, especially for soccer fans. read more

Oh man. If you like greasy and delicious Bar Food, this is where you want to be! I went with my co-workers after work one day. We were supposed to have a table reserved downstairs but the hostess didn't have our reservation. BUT, they were so so so incredibly kind and accommodating. They ended up putting us upstairs and we basically had half of the floor to ourselves. It was great! And the food, oh my goodness. It was AWESOME. We ordered drinks and appetizers. We had chicken tenders, mozz sticks, calamari, wings, potato skins, and hummus, just to name a few! All apps were INCREDIBLE. I can't wait to take my boyfriend back because he loves bar food! Watched the NFC championship there. Made reservations and it was great. They had our table ready within 5 minutes of our arrival with a great view of the game, 5 stars for great ambience and location. Menu offered veggie and turkey burgers for my non red meat eating wife which was a surprise, however, we ended up not eating dinner there. While the wings were good and the battered mushrooms OK, it didn't inspire dinner. Cons: The menu is all over the place and lacked focus and nothing really appealed. This made ordering very tough and ultimately I just couldn't tell what was good. The beer selection was odd too. No British ale for a Black and Tan and the wine selection wasn't, so 3 stars for drink and appetizers. In the end it's a good pub for friends and a game but not with your wife for dinner. read more

Very dissapointing! We tried 4 different food in there and all of them sucked. We were travelling for just the weekend and we were looking for a nice restaurant. Again, we trusted YELP and dressed up to have a dinner there... It turned up that the place sucked huge.. Nice little place. Upstairs seating was kinda tight. Didn't make it downstairs. The AC was either off or not working when we got there as it was pretty warm the whole time. The food was amazing. We wandered into this wonderful pub this afternoon for a rest and lunch, tired tourists walking the streets of NYC. We had a fantastic time. They let us dine upstairs so we could sit outside. Lunch was amazing, great burgers and salads, bloody Mary's, the service impeccable, and the owners greeted us numerous times. I just can't say enough about this place. We stopped here for brunch as it was near our destination. I ordered the Irish Breakfast (eggs, Irish bacon, sausage, black pudding, beans and potatoes) and my boyfriend had the fried pastrami with eggs, potatoes and toast. Visited a few months ago with a friend (who is totally a huge fan of this place). We both had beer and potato skins. The potato skins are pretty good :) They're pretty big on sports here, so if you randomly hear everyone screaming/yelling when a team scores, be prepared (I literally jumped off my chair when this happened). Somehow I always seem to be traveling in large groups...I went in here with about 8 people for a work lunch. They opened up the upstairs for us and gave us our own waitress. The food was just what you'd expect from a bar, decent bar food. They had a decent selection of beers as well. The prices are roughly what one would expect from a bar just outside of a tourist area as well. Good run of the mill bar with big screen TVs for sports. read more
