Went here last night to get a drink with some friends. Big place right in midtown, so it is convenient if you're meeting up with people. They are big Kentucky fans, so had the games on. Would also be a fun place to come and watch other games as they had a ton of TVs. read more

Typical midtown Manhattan Irish bar, just really nothing special, but definitely a decent bar if in the area. Fair draft selection. Good service but the food is just average. Good pours make up for it. Small L shaped bar on west wall. High tables opposite bar and eating tables beyond bar. Wood bar no rail. Large block foot rest. Great bar back, "aged" whitewash wood with mirrors, arches, and bottle shelves, Tvs in each arch. Nice stone work throughout. Duran Duran played in what was mostly 80's or pop music. Never made it upstairs. Other patrons are casual, mostly there to converse amongst their group. read more

Jack Dempsey's NY: Midtown West 7:30pm Saturday 14th September 2014 Three Stars I came to this bar and restaurant named after the famous power puncher Jack Dempsey. We went upstairs to the Celtic Football Club Room which doubles as University of Kentucky Bar. There were plenty blue shirts and shouts of C-A-T-S. I ordered several glasses of Marker's Mark and the Shepard's Pie. The mashed potatoes were fluffy and toasted. The filling tasted like Campbell soup but not in a bad way -It was salty and meaty. I tried the Pork Chop Dinner, which tasted like a Frozen TV dinner. I had a few more drinks and then ordered some French fries, which tasted like the ones you get at a bowling alley. Those rectangular pieces of potatoes were delicious but could have used more salt. It was an enjoyable 3.5 hours even if UK lost in triple overtime. The service was a bit spotty with so many people but overall I like this bar. read more

Poor service, decent enough food, but tiny portions. Very dark dining, they should really add some lights. Can't comment on cleanliness because of the environment being so dark. A real letdown for us, the outside signage and all looked great. Our server was one of those who just seems bothered by your merely being there. Poor selection of drafts beers. Some d-bag local sat next to us and apparently wanted everyone in the place to know his business, he was so damn loud when he talked to his pretentious, hyper- high maintenance date who was equally loud. You should have heard these two order, as if the menu did not exist at all and they were telling their personal chef exactly what they wanted, and how to prepare and present it to them. read more

An okay experience, not sure if I'll return though. I ordered the chicken curry (with both fries & rice.. sounds awful, but it wasn't as bad as it sounds) and my dad ordered a salmon dish. The food was okay. The server was okay. We ordered our food, waited until our food came out, ate, and left. Nothing special. The host + server were both nice. But like I said, nothing special. read more

the service provided from the bartender (blond, short irish girl) was great. She was friendly and held great conversation. I just thought this place was a bit pricey for a burger and beer...and it was lunch time. the burger was ok, but didnt finish it. For some reason the fries had that thawed taste.... the place was filled with contruction guys that were a bit on the creepy, stalker side i would only return for drinks and the great company of the bartender.....but i wouldnt go out of my way. only if im in the area read more

This place was the closest bar to our hotel that was open at midnight for some reason. You walk in and immediately feel like you've been there before. Lots of TV', lots of cold beer, and the staff was super friendly. Check them out! read more

Typical Irish pub. Sports bar feel. Long bar on the main floor with a nice dining area in the back (cool fireplace). The lower level has a pool table and there's an upper level too. I came for an office get together and everyone had a good time. Having parked by the jukebox, we pretty much provided the soundtrack for the night. Nothing crazy. Bobby the bartender was awesome! Others who've had full dinner here said the food was good. I can vouch for the appetizers: chicken tenders and beer buttered mushrooms get thumbs up. read more

What happened? Utterly disappointed. Went to a retirement party here the other night and the food was terrible. The appetizers were all deep fried and the Sheppard's Pie had scant meat or vegetables, just a lot of potatoes and what tasted like a meat sauce you get from a jar at the supermarket. Disgusting. Also the room the party was in had no air conditioning and became a sauna. The only saving grace was that the bartenders were on point in their service. read more

Ambiance was typical pub feel. Service could have been better (I've had way better at pubs) We got our food pretty fast so that was good. Felt rushed when we first got there but apparently there might have been a change of shift because we never saw the waitress again. Would have been nice to have been told we were getting another waitress. Had a Maryland Crab Cake.... burger? The crab cake was pretty good! Deep Fried. The Mash was great! The boyfriend had a Grilled Chicken Wrap... Ehh it was pretty bland... but not bad. If the service was better I'd be back but ok food and mediocre service? Probably not. read more

Tourist trap. Bad sports bar with no ambiance that's charges insane prices. They serve Jameson as their well whiskey. Places in good locations don't even dare do that. They're hoping to prey on the Madison sq garden tourists. For what they charge you could go to a nice place downtown. Don't bother. read more

Don't bother coming for the food. We had nachos, burgers, salmon, a pretzel appetizer and a grilled chicken sandwich. All came out at room temperature after waiting 40 minutes for food. They were busy so the wait wasn't a problem for us as we were on our way to MSG for a basketball game. Maybe the drinks and and atmosphere are worth it? read more

Experienced the WORST service with the rudest bartender I have ever met in my life. Came here for the Champions League final. It was a busy day for huge event. We went up to the 3rd floor and it was packed. To make matters worse, there was only 1 bartender serving the entire floor. My friend and I go to the end of the bar close to the windows. The bartender takes the order of some people to our right side. Then she goes back to the far side of the bar. When she returns, she takes the order of some people to our left side. She effectively did a pincer move and skipped right over us. Then she goes back to the far side of the bar. When she returns to our side, we stand there waiting with our hands up like everyone else, and then she explodes on us yelling, "Stop. Just stop you have to wait your turn like everyone else!" My friend and I look at each other and say "what the f***?" We weren't being rude, or heckling her in any way. We were just waiting like everyone else. I understand that it's a super busy shift for a Saturday afternoon, but that's no excuse for her to take her anger out on us, the customers. Don't think I'll ever return. read more

It was a good place with a good vibe it's an easy hang out place.I went with a group of my colleagues and I would give it a four-star as the service was really nice. Specifically our server was really nice (sorry I fidn't catch your name :(). She had suggestions on beers quality which are strong but has low calories.She was also accommodating of vegetarian options. Apart from beers we ordered chicken wings and a chicken quesadilla. Both was made well to taste and If you are in a professional setting with people you like, you cant go wrong with this place. read more

Read this thru to end. Food...at least what i had...reuben sandwich left something to be desired. But...this bar has LOADS of atmosphere. Irish-accented lass as barkeep. Lots of "locals"....always a good sign. Nice selection of beers. When I return to the city, I hope to visit it again. read more

Came here for one of the Women's world cup soccer games and did not enjoy the experience. They had one of their levels closed which was a complete waste of space. The energy and the vibe was off. My biggest knock on this place is I asked the bartender what the happy hour special was, she informed me there was not a happy hour. When leaving the bar, I saw a sign out front that clearly listed the happy hour drink items. This disappointed me. I usually always know the happy hours of different bars but i expect the staff to know them and be informative. Given the prevalence of competing irish pubs in the area, you are best seeking other establishments such as Fiele, Stout or Blareney Rock or legends. I do not reccomend jack dempseys. read more

I AM AMAZED at how great this place turned out to be. Last night to watch the UFC 114 fights - Rampage and Evans! I loved how comfortable I felt at this bar. I thought I would be surrounded by a ton of tourists, but all the patrons were locals! The table next to us was really friendly and we all watched the fights together. Service was OUTSTANDING. Our waitress was super attentive and she made sure to check on us every time she walked by. We were seated on the ground floor towards the back. We ordered a ton of drinks, shots, and food. Mozzarella sticks, cheeseburger with FRIED EGG on top, and I had a black bean chicken burger with avocado that was so delicious! Everything about this experience at Jack Dempseys was totally worth it. I would love to watch the UFC fights here again next time! read more

We were confused when we first walked into the bar, but turns out the comedy club is tucked away in the back corner. There's a two item minimum but the good news is that you could order from the bar, then continue the tab through the comedy show. I got a mango margarita and pear cider. Both were solid and yummy. Comedy show was small and intimate, even though the comedy space in the back is quite large. They were competing with the FIFA game, so I understand. Nice casual bar and would be down to come back for another comedy show.

This was not a credit card fee (that I can understand). It is a "transaction fee" that is applied to all invoices. Are you kidding me! I have no trouble paying a an extra dollar for a burger. But if you try to rip me off by sneaking in extra charges, I will never come back. You just lost a regular customer over a $2 charge.

Whoever's behind the bar here has been trained or grew up around it. Food's better than a second-floor pub between 5th and 6th has any right to be. The JRB burger comes on a house-ground patty (they grind in-house, and you can tell, loose texture, actual seasoning), caramelized onions cooked down all the way, not just softened, good cheese pull. Fried pickles on the side had a crisp cornmeal shell and stayed crunchy under the burger juices, which never happens. Buttermilk chicken salad was the surprise. Chicken actually brined, crust stayed on, greens weren't an afterthought. Only real knock: music was loud. Not sports-bar loud, more like the bartender's playlist got away from him. Fine at the bar, harder at a table if you want to talk. Room's got real bones. Reclaimed barn wood, old rail track as a foot rest, that big 45-star flag on the wall.
