But to my sadness you were out of pulled pork! And macaroni and cheese and ribs and burnt ends WHERE'S A GIRL SUPPOSED TO GET HER HOT MEAT FILL??? I was troubled. I scoured the menu to find something to satisfy my hot meat craving. And then I was inspired by my drink! The very HUMBLE BLACKBERRY (side note there's no blackberry emoji and Apple needs more food representation but that's a rant for another day). My eyes fell upon the blackberry salmon at the same time that I felt a twinge of hope that the night wasn't ruined! It was absolutely so freaking magical. I definitely recommend the salmon! When asked what temperature I wanted my salmon (I've never been asked this anywhere so points to you @jackstackbbq ) I didn't know what to say so I said "ummm cooked!" To go along with my salmon I had the cheesy corn which is always a good idea. Cheese and corn is a yes. But my oh my my night didn't end after I left. I saw that blackberry salmon again 20 mins after I got home was the salmon worth the pain? Yes. Did I get lowkey sick from it? I think so! But I'd do it all over again read more

Good eats!!!!! Food is a 8/10. Their portion sizes are always on point. Their jalapeño corn bread with the butter is fantastic! The meats are always delicious. The Brussel sprouts with the pulled pork all up in through there is sooooo goooood. I could literally just eat that alone. The dessert is sooo tasty and I want you to know that the waitstaff is pretty awesome. The restroom were clean and I loved the landscaping. Inside is calm and relaxing. This location is big with plenty of seating--and it was packed on a Saturday night! I ordered a platter with beef burnt ends and lamb ribs: wow! We come to the Kansas City area every 5-7 years and always get BBQ on the first night. Been to almost everywhere, have never tried Jack Stack. This was some of the most underwhelming KC BBQ in the entire area. The sides were truly better than the meat. We had a platter for 2 with 3 sides. Turkey was decent, pulled pork was decent with sauce, Ribs were the highlight, delicious,,,,,, Brisket..... wtf was that???? I've had better brisket literally everywhere in the country including fast food restaurants. I would compare it to a shoe tongue, zero fat, zero flavor. Our server was awesome, food came quickly and drinks were filled without even asking. Asked all the right questions. Gave her 30%+ no questions. Restaurant is pretty cool on the inside but truly nothing screams local, bbq or KC. I would recommend Joes or find one of those hole in the wall places outside of town or the side of town. Quality of Food and service have both dropped significantly over the years. My last visit was sad.. barely warm beans, smaller portions and higher prices. Open tables and still on a wait tells me the floor management is off, entrees coming out on top of appetizers tells me the back line is not being watched. Was a great place years ago. Tonight I was told I had to try this other place! It was a nice restaurant great service and the pulled pork sandwich was okay but dry and no coleslaw or sauce came on it! If you want coleslaw you have to buy a side of coleslaw for $6.00! And I had to pour the sauce on my sandwich! I got a side of beans and they were wonderful! I was told that I had to try their cheesy corn! Even though it didn't sound good I tried it anyway! It only took 1 bite and in the garbage it went! Totally disgusting and soupy! Now dessert was okay! This is the best dining experience I have experienced in several years. With the prices of everything raising exponentially I have continued to go out to eat, but I have become a bit choosier. We stopped here on a whim when we could not decide which bbq place to go to. I came in with full intentions of ordering bbq when the hickory-smoked trout caught my attention. I chose the premium side "cheesy potato bake" and did not have to pay an up charge. I could not have been happier with my choice. The trout was beautifully filleted, every single bone was removed, and was cooked to perfection. The fillet flaked beautifully and was tender and fresh. It's not often I finish an entire entree anymore but I didn't hesitate to do so here. The cheesy potato bake was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. I cannot speak highly enough of the food here. Jack Stack was recommended to us & we recently gave it a try. We liked the ambiance - similar to a steak house. Service was great, menu has a variety you don't usually see at a bbq restaurant - fish & salads as well as meat. My husband had burnt ends & lamb ribs with beans and coleslaw. I had the bbq shrimp & potato bake. Everything was really good! The Bloody Mary was also very good with a hint of bbq! We will definitely be back! read more

We went to Jack Stack on a Sunday early evening to celebrate our anniversary. They weren't crowded at all and we had a great server. We ended getting the barbecue for two which had sausage, burnt ends, and pork. One of the things I really like about the barbecue for two is that you get three sides! We had the coleslaw, baked beans and cheesy corn. Jack Stack is the original cheesy corn and it is so yummy. The other thing I appreciate is their beans because they have brisket pieces mixed in. Hands-down, the best baked beans in Kansas City! Their coleslaw is also solid. Before we had the barbecue, we had their appetizer of six fried mushrooms. They were the best fried mushrooms I ever had, and they were huge. Sometimes when I eat fried mushrooms, they are too juicy, but theirs were very meaty. In the past, I have had Jack Stack's onion rings, and they are famous for their size and how they stack them, but the mushrooms are a new favorite . We ended our celebration by getting a brownie with a scoop of ice cream. It was very decadent, chocolatey, and the serving size was huge. Highly recommend!! read more

Wow how the mighty have fallen. Came here a few years back and I rated this place a 5. No more. The turkey, which was excellent last time, felt and tasted like sliced deli meat this time and lacked the flavor. The pork burnt ends were dry and tough. The baby back ribs were tough as well and lacked flavor. The potato salad and broccoli were still 5s but the rest fell way short. Had bbq the day before at a different place and it blew the doors off Jack Stack. Waiter got my sides wrong to start as well. read more

We were dining as a family of 6, so we ordered the Taste of Kansas City with a half pound of Burnt Ends. For our sides we got Beans, Cheesy Corn, Coleslaw, and Fries. Everything was absolutely fantastic with the Burnt Ends, Beans and Corn being my personal favorites. The ambiance was given family vibes, so a good place to bring the whole family. We enjoy this BBQ place and location. This is a more upscale restaurant and nice service. Our family always orders the burnt ends, sausage and fatty brisket as these are our "go-to" meals. Lately the Burnt ends have not been soft/tender but instead very hard and chewy; this is why only 4 stars. If you are looking for a lighter meal I also highly recommend the beef stew with potatoes and carrots. Always super good. As well as the spinach salad as it is very flavorful and fresh. As a KC native, I really enjoy Jack Stack. This is my first time at this location and I enjoyed myself. I ordered the pick 2 and a KC lemonade, which contains alcohol. I highly recommend the baked beans no matter what you order. I had chicken and beef burnt ends, and while my food was great, I felt like my portion was a bit small. The cornbread was perfect to share with the table. And omggg, the wings... try them!!! Our server was super nice and gave great recs on what to try. Hadn't been for quite awhile and finally broke down and went for some "fancy sit down" KC BBQ. Glad I did. Also, glad we got a reservation for a Saturday night because the place was packing 'em in and I heard the hostess tell someone over the phone as we left that they were on a 3 hour wait! Tried their signature Crown Prime Beef Rib this time after reading so many good things about it. Generally I prefer pork when it comes to KC BBQ and leave beef to the Texans. While this offering probably didn't change that thinking, it was a nice change from the usual local fare. There was no discernible difference in flavor or texture from the rib and the accompanying beef burnt ends on my Pick 2 Plate. Not a criticism, just an observation as both were very good. As always the cheesy potato bake was outstanding and as previously stated we were glad we came back for a nicer, more comfortable and good service experience. read more

This is one of the better places we've had barbecue. There were 11 of us and they said to seat us all together would be one hour. We compromise, 5 & 6. They got us right in and seated us in the same section. Service was outstanding! Frequently checking on us, refreshing drinks, sense of humor. Food was spectacular. Prices were reasonable. When we have guests visiting KC Jack Stack is a MUST. The ambiance is nice enough for a date but casual enough to not feel like you need to get dressed up. My favorite sandwich is the Martin City Mayor. They have shared plates with a variety of meats which is nice if you have a group that wants to try different samplings. Service is always prompt and kind. Reservations are recommended, especially on weekends when it gets really busy. I appreciate that they have a to go window as well if you feel like doing a picnic or eating at home. read more

My group of 5 had about a 45 minute wait on a Saturday night, but once we got inside, we had a great waiter. He was knowledgeable about the menu and informed us that they were out of several items. He came back when he found out they were replenish ed! It was my first time having bbq in kansas/the midwest and it did not disappoint. The fries had delicious seasoning, amazing pulled pork, and crunchy dill pickles. We had onion rings for the table which was crispy and a whole onion, not chopped up bits.
