Another up scale restaurant in Fredericksburg. Over all I give it 3 stars. We travel a lot. We travel in a 45" bus and enjoy better restaurants. Everything we ordered was wonderful--taste wise. From a wedge salad to entree to sides, everything was well prepared and served. There's a touch of classic French in the presentation. I had the bone-in 12 oz filet. My wife had lasagna. We shared the "loaded baked potato" served in a nice size oval Au Gratin dish. The reason we gave it 3 stars were due to price. My bone-in 12 oz filet was $75. It was probably 8 oz Bone. Perfectly prepared and presented and delicious. My complaint, though there was not enough of the main ingredient-- the filet. I don't think the meat weighed 4 oz. when raw. And 8 Oz'. Was bone. I don't mind paying $75 for a steak but not for this. Also, the baked potato dish was made with re-dehydrated, shredded potatoes and not baked. Tasty for sure. But the base ingredient (the potato) could have come out of a bag of a bag of frozen hash browns from a Waffle House cooler. For such a capable kitchen, they should give you the real thing. read more

What a guilty pleasure my husband and I enjoyed last night at this restaurant. It was a double celebration of sorts, which included selling a property and celebrating his birthday. We love the ambience, and the service and the bar may soon become our favorite haunt. I enjoyed the calamari appetizer which is by and far the best serving of calamari that I have ever experienced. The crunch and the sweet and spicy sauce made for a delicious treat. The bartenders were engaging, knowledgeable, and we enjoyed our chat with them. Once it was time for dinner, everything went smooth as silk, and we both enjoyed our steaks. Amazing flavors, and the portion of food is more than I could eat, which, of course made for a great take-home bag. I highly encourage everyone to try the Lyonnais fries. read more

The most tasteless chicken scallopini ever! I couldn't even defend it as delicately seasoned. It was served over home fried potatoes - bland home fried potatoes (pasta?). And my wedge salad had soggy fried onion bits. I was extremely disappointed. Even my beer came to me without a head (probably an improperly washed glass). Fortunately, my wife enjoyed her Tomahawk Pork chop, Caesar Salad, Cucumber Martini, and glass of Pinot. Service was good, atmosphere nice. They did comp my Entree, but that was what they needed to do as I didn't finish the small portion. What a disappointment! The best experience at Jack's last night was Amanda. What a pleasant, attentive and professional server. The brownie desert was also excellent. The shrimp cocktail, asparagus, and sauteed mushrooms and onions were quite tasty. The 4 oz. filet, although tender, had no character. The 16 oz. Stockyards Ribeye was the worst steak I have ever been served. More rare than medium rare, cool, stringy, tough and chewy; served in a puddle of grease. We are local, and may or may not give it a second chance. Until we do, we will surly not take any of our guests to Jack's Chophouse. read more

Such a great experience! We went for valentines Dinner after hearing Great things about this place! We got the bone in tomahawk and mashed potatoes for the main entree (split) my husband got the wedge salad / it was very good! We got bread with oil for an appetizer. For dessert we did the brownie with ice cream- so good!! The restaurant was reminding us of a few places we ate at in NY! It was relaxed but still nice!! While the atmosphere was nice, it was too dark to read the menu or determine what part of the steak was gristle. Besides being very "chewy" what do you do with a mouthful of gristle and fat? And, the salad had very little dressing - I did not expect dry lettuce. The menu items are way overpriced for the quality served. My wife and I both agree that our dinner at Jacks Chophouse was the best restaurant meal we have had in years. We had the family meal for two, shared a great Caesar salad, had an incredible Antipasto with olives, stuffed mushrooms, lasagna, spinach and house sausage. We shared a rare 18 oz. So I really want to leave more stars but the more I think about it, I'm honestly upset. My husband and I drove from San Antonio for our anniversary and we just had so many issues. My husband order a dressed beer ( with salt) it came out without and the waitress even commented on it not having the salt, then his second came out same way it by the time she came to the table she noticed so turned back to get salt. Our appetizers came after the main entrees, so I had to send part of my dinner back because it got cold. Then on the bill 2 items were priced way more than listed on their menu.... By that time I was just over it and wanted to go home. You will love this place!!! We were anxious to try the new steakhouse in town and it...was...flawless!!!! We started with the calamari appetizer and it was amazing!! My husband got the salmon and said it was fantastic. I got the ribeye and it was cooked to perfection!!!! The ambiance in this place is classy but fun! The music completed the ensemble! Our server, Nicholas, was awesome!!! In the middle of our dinner they had two people that used to play in a military orchestra come in to play the cello and violin. Came here with my wife for our anniversary and to be honest was sadly unimpressed. Our waiter Carlos was fantastic, super friendly and very knowledgeable of the menu and extremely attentive. The atmosphere is also very inviting and cool. They do have a great bar for entertaining. However the food is where this place loses stars for us. The food is just not that good unfortunately. It's not horrible but it's just very bland and just all around disappointing especially for the prices they charge. The steaks were the only thing that look good but unfortunately neither of us ordered one due to the crazy pricing. They also ask people to dress fancy on their website but when you walk in most people were in ball caps and jeans. I made a reservation for my husband and I for our anniversary. I had been emailing with the owner so they were aware of the anniversary. When we arrived we were disappointed that no acknowledgement was made, nor did the waiter even say anything to us about the anniversary. The food was also not good at all. If you are going to charge me an extra $3 per martini for kettle one and an extra $1 per olive on a SIXTEEN dollar martini and if you are going to charge $8 for a small metal ramekin for steak sauce (Which you didn't even add when wrapping my leftovers) and when you tell me there's a 90 minute limit on the table and takes 40 minutes to get a Martini I'm done. I was a single walk in on a Friday night at around 8pm. People were leaving as I entered but the place was still quite busy. I asked for a seat at the bar. It took about 5 minutes to procure one. I was warned the bar was slammed and service would be slow. I am a patient person when the need arises and I said no problem. I was just grateful to be seated. I loved the bar area. Great atmosphere only made better by the live music duo: a violinists and a bass player. Their selection of music was wide ranged and beautifully played. I ordered a Manhattan. It took about ten minutes to make but it was quite good. Since it was late in the evening I wanted something lighter to eat. I ordered the wedge salad. It took at least 20 minutes to come out but it was worth the wait. Hands down the best wedge salad I've ever had. I was going to order the sausage stuffed mushrooms but the person next to me had the most delicious bowl of lasagna placed in front of them. I ordered that instead. Long wait again but excellent flavor. This place is awesome. I understand it's been here a little over a year. It has the potential of being a well established business it just needs to tighten up on kitchen turnaround. The food is top notch. The staff are extremely attentive.
