We have been to Jack's several times since we moved to FBG last year and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time. The food and service are excellent and we particularly like the bar scene for dinner. We've made several friends there with like-minded steak lovers. The steaks are the best in town and beyond and they have a very nice wine list to boot. Jack's has become our favorite restaurant in town and we plan to go again in the very near future. If you prefer excellent food and service, Jack's is your restaurant. David & Wendy read more

First time here for friend's birthday. Large group so we made sure we had reservations. Small parking outside the restaurant, but they do have street parking too. Very cute house turned into restaurant (or so it seems). Mood lighting (bit darker), but typical for steak place I guess. Staff professional, courteous, efficient. We sat in front which is probably best since some of us tend to be loud (although the poor table next to us probably did not feel that way). Great selection of drinks and wine. Apps and steak and other dishes were very good. Def recommend. read more

Three stars for the server and atmosphere. We had a table of 4 on 6-9-24. The restaurant is unique and elegant. Our server Amanda, was well trained and did an amazing job all evening. Drinks and cocktails came out and we weren't rushed to enjoy them and the atmosphere before ordering. My husband and I both ordered the bone in strip. I ordered mine medium rare. The steaks are cooked, sliced on the bone and served on a fire hot sizzling plate. The plates were so hot that the steaks continued to cook. My steak was medium when delivered and in a few minutes the steak cooked to well done, no pink at all. I requested another steak and discussed the issue and another steak was cooked the exact same way and turned out exactly the same even though I moved my steak onto a fresh plate it had cooked too long on the sizzling plate. My husband's steak was ordered medium it was well done and he was ok with an over cooked steak as he doesn't really like pink. The other couple with us ordered theirs rare and it was delivered medium rare that soon was medium they were disappointed but accepted their steak once they saw my second steak wasn't any different than the first. We basically gave up and we felt sorry for our server who apologized repeatedly. Sides were good. We were offered one dessert on the house. I really think the steaks need to be thicker cut, they didn't seem like prime cuts as they were a little chewy. The steaks being served sliced is pretty but it changes how the steaks taste and seems to dry the steak out. Maybe stop using the sizzling plates and stop slicing the steaks. Steak eaters like to cut their own steak as it keeps the moisture in the meat. Hope they figure out how to fix these issues because the steaks are very pricey to be such a thin cut and over cooked. I'd like to see this establishment succeed surely hope they figure this out. read more

I chose to celebrate my 40th birthday here in January 2025 and it did not disappoint! The food was amazing and our server was top notch! Someone ordered salmon and it wasn't cooked correctly. The chef made a special appearance to our table to apologize and make it right. I was impressed by their top notch customer service, super cozy feeling and making my birthday dinner extra special. Everyone LOVED their food and drinks and I would definitely make a special trip to Fredericksburg just to visit Jack's Chophouse! 10/10!! read more

Great food. Great cocktails. Amanda did a great job taking care of our table. Highly recommend.

Ate at Jack's during our trip to Fredericksburg for Spring Break. It is clear they want to be an upscale steakhouse but fall very short on service. The food was good but service fell well short of expectations. We were sat 15 minutes late for our reservation. After ordering drinks and bread, it took a very long time to receive the drinks. My water sat empty for a solid 20 minutes after the server twice acknowledged it being empty. They delivered our shared tomahawk ribeye with plates or steak knives. We had to flag someone down to get both. Solid food but they do not live up to a true steakhouse experience. You can do better. read more

We came here for a NYE Dinner event for the first time. We had a wonderful time. The ambiance was beautiful having dimmed lighting with a Violin and Bass duo who played requests. Our server was great and very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed and more for our dinner was excellent. We received multiple courses ranging from dinner salads, meat ball appetizers, pasta, or main course (A tomahawk steak), dessert and to glasses of wine. All of which were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner there and is an experience we will remember for years to come. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning. read more

We ate at Jacks last night with some friends and had a wonderful evening. The place was extremely busy so I'm glad we had reservations. We split a sirloin, wedge and side order of mushrooms. The steak was fixed to perfection and the sides were equally delicious. There was a young man singing oldies but goody songs very softly it was very romantic and it felt like we were in Nee York. Definitely will be back. read more

Tonight was our third or fourth time to have dinner here. Each time has been excellent and we will return the next time that we come to Fredericksburg. Our waitress, Megan, made great suggestions. Also had a very nice visit with the restaurant manager who was making the rounds. The salmon was wonderful and the cheesecake was unusually good and was unlike any that we have had before. read more

The service is god-awful. Host is horribly rude, they book their reservations too close together so it means nothing - you'll still have to wait. Waiting room is so small and uncomfortable during dinner hours. Can't even get a cocktail while you wait. Skip this one! read more

Jack's chophouse highly recommended by one of the employees at a local establishment. The special for the night was prime rib, so that's what we ordered.. Everything on the plate was Luke warm or cold . When we complained to the waiter, they took the food away and brought it back this time. The plates were very hot, but the meat was no lukewarm. Other than the food being cold, it was a nice place the Witt staff was very friendly They ended up, comping the prime rib, and even giving us a dessert which was appreciated. However, my concern was keeping the meat at room, temperature, and concerned that it might grow bacteria. read more
