What comes to mind when you hear the name JACKS? Most people probably think of JACK N JILL. However, I'd like to share a nice dining experience I had in the Newark Mall area, complete with excellent staff, attentive servers, and delicious food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Recently, I visited this location with some friends, and I was thoroughly impressed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] If you're in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. I had a wonderful breakfast brunch there today, and it was truly enjoyable. So, the next time you're in the Newark/Fremont area, make sure to visit JACKS--you won't be disappointed!

I came to Jacks with my wife family, the last night we were staying in Fremont. This place is near my wife aunt place and she wanted to come here before we leave to go home. We came close to closing time so the parking was easily to find and we got seated quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was not busy at all, with some guest inside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the New York steak 10oz at medium rare and asked just for fries as my sides. My wife got the grilled salmon for her dish and her mom and aunt got the California burger. It took some time for our food to come outm My wife like her salmon and also her aunt with the burger since that's what she always get. My New York steak color didn't look appealing to me but they cooked it to medium rare like I requested. The steak was okay, I was more hungry than anything else. I finished it quick and was still hungry so I ordered some Hot Wings since it was happy hour price. I like the Hot wings more than my steak and I asked for no blue cheese. The issue I had while dining here was it took three attempts and 3 different people at the restaurant to finally get a refill on my soda. Our waitress disappeared, the waiter who brought our food never came back and it wasn't until the manager came to ask us how we were doing to finally give all of us a refill on our drinks.

Tried their new smash burger and Mac n cheese Smash burger was good but not really a smash burger im used to. Patties more on the thicker side but still flavorful and a thick filling burger. Mac and cheese was good too. I'm not much of a Mac and cheese person but this was good. Hints of sun-dried tomatoes and the chili flakes in their had a nice kick to balance out the richness overall good comfort style foods here

We came into town for a family reunion and decided to try out this place for dinner. They have nice people working here. He got here a little before happy hour ended so they got our drinks and appetizers in before it ended. That was so nice. There was a lot to choose from the menu but I went with some Greek appetizers and my mom and uncle got the pasta dish. My aunt got the grilled salmon salad and she said it was really good. All of the food was absolutely delicious. We shared the appetizers and had a great time. All of the staff are very attentive, we didn't feel neglected at all. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance is casual dining, the restaurant is very clean and attractive.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

From the moment we arrived, the service was excellent. The hostess stand was so kind and patient with our 80-year-old mom, allowing her time to decide what temperature and seating area would be most comfortable for her, inside or outside. That level of care really stood out. Our server, Alysa M, was fantastic. She immediately offered thoughtful suggestions for both drinks and meals, was knowledgeable about the menu, friendly, attentive, and incredibly efficient throughout the entire experience. The food was absolutely delicious. My brother and I both ordered the steak, and our mom had the Sautéed Petrale Sole. She is usually a very light eater, but she completely devoured her meal, which says everything! We left very impressed with both the food and the hospitality. We will definitely be back.

I'm surprised I haven't reviewed them yet. Their service has been pretty friendly each time we've gone. Our sick kid wanted comfort food and when he thought of mac & cheese, he immediately thought of Jack's. He really likes their bacon mac & cheese. Plenty of parking because the mall is basically empty aside from the few restaurants and 24 hr. fitness. Pretty clean environment and restrooms. Decent number of tvs to watch at the bar. Covered outdoor area is nice too. Kitchen has open windows so you can watch them cook.

I finally went back to Jack's after several years (pre-covid time) and was inspired to give the lunch menu a try after ordering breakfast take out at the Saratoga location a month ago. This location is fairly large and the vibe is great! Excellent ambiance with lots of Christmas trees all around. The bar area is very inviting as well. We were seated promptly on a Sunday afternoon and greeted genuinely by Fee (spelling?) and also served by Amani. Fee was all smiles and we loved her positive attitude. She recommend the calamari and I knew we'd have to order that. Huge portion! Eats: *Calamari *Catfish Po' Boy + mixed green salad & ranch *Tuna Melt + fries *Patty Melt + fries I was debating between the first two and chose the po' boy-- best decision ever! Huge filet of panko crusted catfish, chilled cole slaw, and ciabatta bun toasted to perfection. Salad was a refreshing addition after the indulgent crispy calamari! They serve breakfast until 2pm and I've had the bananas foster French toast from Saratoga. It's amazing! Gonna get that next time when dining in. Happy Hour looks good too! Monday to Friday, 3pm-6pm, 8pm-close at the bar area. Parking has never been an issue. Lots of people enjoy Jack's and now I'm one of them!

Located on the outside of the mall with plenty of parking . Went on a Friday night with no wait time . Had heated outside area but choose to sit inside due to it was way to loud outside . Our server Chris was very attentive and very friendly . Everyone kept checking on the guest and all seemed very professional and alert . Portions were large and pricing is average for today's food. Food was delicious and filling. Had the Moscow mule which was very refreshing unfortunately didn't have any flavors but no problems. 100% recommend and will go again. Bonus is movie theater next door so makes it perfect location for a dinner and movie night.

LAMB BURGER
Aaron C.

Food: Lamb burger (with french fries) Was the flavor of a gyro but in burger form. Would order this again. Service: Had some bigger tables (or areas to push together) as we had a big-ish party which also included babies. The wait staff had good "handles" in lifting plates and stuff, going between kids, nicely done.

Sausage breakfast
Ty S.

My first experience here was excellent! We ordered the sausage breakfast, tuna melt w/ garlic fried , meatloaf sandwich w/onion rings , beef barley soup and cheesecake. everything was good but my favorite was the barely soup and the tuna melt . Tuna melt bread had a soft butter crispy crust and the flavor of the tuna was perfect . I enjoyed the onion rings especially with the dipping sauce . For starters we had the Beef and barely soup and that's when I knew I was going to like this place . I could have just ate the soup and would have been satisfied.. the soup was very tasty . My only complaint would be that the meatloaf sandwich could have used some cheese and a little mayo but other than that it was good . So I thought I was finished eating but my server Alysa somehow convinced us to order dessert lol . I had a really good experience, I have no complaints other than I had to unbutton my pants when I got in the car . I would like to shout out my server for being very attentive and making food suggestions considering it being our first time here .. I definitely will be back , especially for happy hour .

Lamb burger and potato salad. Fieldwork Porter with Chipotle. Delish, perfect medium cooked. Sat at the bar as a solo, bar tender offered a taste of anything I wanted to try. Sunday after church it's busy, service was good and attentive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Decor is attractive and warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I come to Jack's Restaurant & Bar very often, and the whole staff is always amazing, friendly, and welcoming. But today Felicia truly went above and beyond with her service. She was attentive, professional, kind, and made sure everything was perfect the entire time. You can really tell she cares about her customers and takes pride in what she does. Thank you, Felicia, for such a great experience -- definitely one of the best servers I've had here!

I have eaten there for lunch and dinner. Is this place open for breakfast?

Yes it is. Breakfast is served from 8a-2p

Is there a cost incurred for the private room, or are you automatically placed there when reserving for large parties (10-15 people)?

Private rooms typically require a minimum spend. A party of 10-15 won’t necessarily be seated in a private room. To inquire about events / private rooms, please visit: https://www.ilovejacks.com/private-events

Do you still accept the 20% off discount store voucher given to me by one of your staff sometime ago? Thanks.

There should be an expiration date on the coupon — if it hasn’t expired, we are happy to accept.

Do you have a private room for 20 people?

We sure do! Please visit ilovejacks.com/private-events — we’d love to help you plan your event!

How is parking?

Easy parking. Large parking lot.

May I bring my dog during outdoor dining?

Yes

What is the corkage fee?

$15 / 750ml

What time do they serve breakfast until?

2pm. Every day.

Are you now open for outdoor or indoor dining?

Outdoor dining.

Do they have indoor or outside seating right now?

Not right now due to Covid. However, when it is safe, they do have outdoor seating that is convenient for dining during pandemic restrictions.

Do they do cash as payment?

Yes, they do. We paid with cash.

Great to see this place has wifi. I need a quiet place with wifi to work remotely. Does this place play loud music in the outdoor seating area? many restaurants even with outdoor dining have very loud music which makes it hard to work/take calls.

They play loud music inside and outside. Not able to work/take calls.

Are you reopen for indoor dining yet?

Yes! Indoor and outdoor dining, available.

Are they open for take-out during the pandemic?

Yes they are.

Are they open on New Year's Day?

They should be the worst case scenario you could call and see if they have special hours I know they're open today.

I looked online and could not find any information regarding gluten free options. Are there any gluten free options? Thank you!

@ fey S. - It may not say so on their Yelp presence, but according to all their food menus on https://ilovejacks.com: "While we offer gluten-free menu items, we are not a…

Do you hold party reservation for 60 people?

Hi Ann - we certainly do! Please email - events@ilovejacks.com and our events coordinator will follow up with you.…

Do they have heat lamps on the outdoor patio?

yes they do.

Would this be a good place to go for a post wedding brunch with a large group on a Sunday? Can I make a reservation to accommodate 35/40 people?

The best place. But! Make a reservation they’re popular and busy.

Is there somewhere to find calories/nutrition info...?

I have to start by saying everything was perfect, Food was great etc. - until I was handed the check. The waitress had the nerve to add gratuity for 2 guest! On top of this, she had the nerve to rip the check and not provide a complete check. What she didn't know, is that I am a regular at BJs. I ALWAYS scan the barcode at the bottom of the check to pay. This way I receive my BJs rewards. Well, the waitress rushed off after handing my husband the check and never returned. I had to stop another waiter and ask him for his assistance. He indeed confirmed the check was not complete and he will have his manager take care of it. 15 minutes went by and the manager finally approached me. (didn't get his name, he is Indian) He hands me a copy of a complete check (since the one the waitress gave me was ripped in half) And he said - "Were you upset because she automatically applied the gratuity?" that pissed me off and I corrected him and said - Not only did she automatically apply the gratuity, she literally tore the bottom of the check so I couldn't see the complete check" What really upset me about the whole situation was - I WAS ABLE TO VIEW THE DIGITAL CHECK ON MY APP!!! I already knew what my total was. The manager tried his hardest to cover the issue the waitress caused but the damage was already done. I am highly upset the waitress did this! I ALWAYS tip over 20%. Because of this issue, I did not tip the thieving waitress. I ended up tipping the waiter who went to get his supervisor. He didn't even want the tip. Let me know he was just doing his job. I told him he was the only person who could tell me the truth! It was the waitress's fault. And because I'm a good human being - I forced him to take the tip!!! He tried to give me half of the tip back but I told him he deserved it!! Because of this situation, it ruined our date night. We couldn't stop talking about what just transpired. I am STILL highly upset! I really hope to hear from the other manager - Mad I don't know his name but he has Locs and he always takes care of my husband and I when we come to this location.

The perfect balance of sweet and savory. I'm still thinking about them 24 hours later. Crispy Quesatacos with Chicken Tinga: Perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor. It's hard to find chicken Tinga in a crispy Quesataco this authentic in a pop-up setting, but they nailed it flavor bomb Pupusas & Tacos: My friend and I went in on these and they did not disappoint. I've probably ordered that exact combination over a thousand times, and Country Way in Fremont makes it better than anyone. The bacon is thick-cut, generously portioned, and cooked exactly the way I like it--crispy without being burnt. The country fried potatoes were outstanding--crispy and golden on the outside, yet soft and almost creamy on the inside. They're the kind of breakfast potatoes that are so good you end up finishing every last bite. The staff is warm and friendly, making the place feel like a neighborhood institution rather than just another breakfast spot. One thing I also love is the building itself. Country Way is housed in a wonderfully preserved vintage A-frame that feels like a trip back to a different era. Instead of chasing trendy, it embraces its history, and that charm is part of the experience. If you judge a breakfast restaurant by how well it executes the classics, Country Way absolutely nails it. Sometimes simple food, done exceptionally well, is the hardest thing to find

Her smile was worth a visit too.

A Place I Keep Coming Back To…read more I've been to Texas Roadhouse many times over the years--I just never remembered to take photos until this visit. For me, Texas Roadhouse isn't about finding the most expensive or most luxurious steak. It's about getting together with family or friends, enjoying a cold beer, sharing great appetizers, and having a relaxed meal without breaking the bank. The atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect from a classic American steakhouse. It's lively, energetic, and always feels welcoming. I also love the open kitchen and the hand-cut steak display when you walk in. Watching the staff prepare fresh steaks adds to the whole experience. One thing I miss is the old bucket of complimentary peanuts. They now come in individual bags, which is definitely cleaner and more hygienic, but I do miss that old-school Texas Roadhouse tradition. The warm fresh-baked rolls with cinnamon butter are still incredible. Honestly, I could probably eat an entire basket before my entrée arrives. My must-order items every single visit: Steak The steaks are consistently good. Are they premium steakhouse quality? No. But they're cooked well, seasoned properly, and offer excellent value for the price. That's exactly why I keep coming back. Cactus Blossom (The Giant Onion Appetizer) This is an absolute MUST. It's surprisingly difficult to find restaurants that serve an onion appetizer this size anymore. Most places either offer onion rings or a much smaller blooming onion. Texas Roadhouse's Cactus Blossom is enormous, beautifully presented, and fried to a perfect golden crisp. Every petal stays crunchy while the onion inside remains sweet and tender. Pair it with their signature dipping sauce, and it's the perfect appetizer to share over drinks. If you're visiting for the first time, don't skip it. It has become one of the signature dishes that keeps me ordering it every visit. Fried Catfish Another item I highly recommend. Crispy on the outside, moist and flaky inside, and surprisingly light. It goes perfectly with a cold beer and good conversation. Loaded Baked Potato Simple but done right--loaded with sour cream, cheddar cheese, bacon bits, and butter. Comfort food at its best. One thing that deserves special recognition is the service. Every visit, the servers have been friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Drinks are refilled before you even have to ask, and they frequently check in without being intrusive. Great service makes a huge difference, and the staff here consistently delivers. They're absolutely the kind of servers who deserve a generous tip. At the end of the day, Texas Roadhouse isn't trying to compete with high-end steakhouses--and that's perfectly fine. It knows exactly what it is: a fun, casual American steakhouse where people gather to enjoy good food, cold beer, and great company. The steak is consistently good, the portions are generous, the prices are reasonable, the service is excellent, and the overall experience keeps me coming back. I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommended.

My ultimate birthday go-to for fresh seafood and steak!…read more Market Broiler Fremont has been my absolute go-to spot for birthday celebrations for years. When you want a consistently great meal to celebrate a special occasion, this place always delivers a solid 4-star experience. Here is why it keeps winning out over other chain options: The Apps to Start: You have to start with the appetizers here. They bring out that warm, fresh sourdough bread to the table which is dangerous because it's so good. Pairing that with their classic seafood apps like the crisp calamari or a shrimp cocktail sets the perfect tone for a birthday dinner. Fresh Fish & Steaks: For the main course, their menu hits the perfect balance. The fresh fish is always cooked beautifully, flaky, and high-quality. If you're looking for land instead of sea, their steaks are consistently juicy, tender, and seasoned just right. The Vibe: Sitting in the Pacific Commons location makes for a great, lively atmosphere that feels celebratory without being overly stuffy. It's a reliable local favorite that never fails for a birthday dinner. Great food, solid portions, and always a great time!

We came here for breakfast as we were passing through Fremont and I love the Niles area…read more The drinks we were got were good but a little too sweet for me. My boyfriend got the fried chicken steak plate and it was good and a really big portion. I got the spicy chicken melt and it was really good and tasty plus really big portion. We also shared the beignets that come in different flavors and they were fluffy and really good. Altogether a solid breakfast spot.

If you want to eat at a place that has good quality and a big enough portion to either share or take home for leftovers then this is the place to go. There were some notable things that we stumbled across in our dining experience. I had noticed that one of the utensils wasn't washed properly so there was a dried up piece of vegetable or something stuck on it. Also I requested my burger to be cooked medium but when I received my order, it was more so well done with no pink in the middle. One of the two pork chop was cooked great, while the other was a little dry and chewy. Regardless, these were things that didn't warrant calling over a server. The thing that mainly put a stain for our restaurant outing at Skillet'z was the service. Upon walking in we were not greeted with a friendly welcoming and when seated they quickly walked away. The lady who took our order did not even look like she wanted to be there, granted I understand that nobody really enjoys having to go to work but if you need to interact with customers, maybe this isn't the occupation for you. While we were eating there was not a single time that anyone came up to us to ask us how we were doing, if we needed anything, or how the food was. There was a moment where it was someone's birthday at another table and I don't think I've ever heard a more unenthusiastic and monotone announcement for a birthday and a lame excuse for a birthday song. They're not going to bother with dropping off a check/bill for the meal so you need to go up to the counter to pay for the food. Once you step up to the counter keep in mind that more than likely you will encounter a rude interaction and a feeling that you were inconveniencing them. Overall I'll more than likely eat from here again, primarily for the food. But maybe next time we'll consider just taking out to go.
