Stopped in today to have a quick lunch before heading to Costco. Lela greeted me and handed me a menu. I let her know I needed a few minutes so she let me peruse the menu. I ended going with the Asian chicken salad, sub salmon and no wonton strips. I also got the cucumber cocktail. It had Hendricks gin, elderflower liquor, cucumber, and soda. Very refreshing and tasty. My salad came out and I was very surprised at how big the piece of salmon was! Perfectly cooked and the salad was amazing. The menu stated that they make all of their dressings in house. We checked out Jack's on a whim as we had some relatives in town who wanted pasta/American food. Decided to check out this Greek American restaurant. We liked the avgolemono soup as well as the polenta and baked fish and pastas which all tastes fresh and were well seasoned. It's not everyday that you can find a place serving avgolemono soup so highly recommend to try. We also tried the Spanakopita, I agree with some of the other reviews here that the Spanakopita can probably be skipped, the bottom dough was soggy and doughy, which was rather disappointing. Searching for a new happy hour spot and came across Jack's. There were plenty of options on the happy hour menu and we tried the gyro pizza, chili nachos, lamb sliders and the calamari. The gyro pizza and chili nachos tasted like I could have made them at home. Nothing special and very small portions. The lamb sliders only came with 2 sliders. The calamari was super good and crispy. Unfortunately, I did not feel satisfied after my happy hour experience here and will continue the search for the best happy hour spot! I would like to add that our server was amazing! I remember going to Jack's at its prior location, and this new space is clearly a major upgrade--much more modern. I've also been to their other location in the San Jose/Saratoga area. A great place for good American fare. They serve a hearty breakfast and equally hearty lunches. I had their American Burger with Cheddar Cheese with Fries. A 1/2 lb. Of beef, cooked to perfection. It came with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles. I ordered medium well, while I normally order medium rare. But the meat was flavorful. The French fries were crispy and delicious. We ordered another round but this time of old fashions and that shit was fugazi(terrible). Reported to multiple servers showing our inconvenience but that didnt help. The pictures attached ( the glass with about less or half poured was not it at all but was our served drinks) Our server was Fee, she deserved a 5 star rating. We came in on a Saturday for brunch with a reservation for a party of 14. Our table was set and ready to go for us as we walked in. Our server, Angel, greeted us after we had settled in and took our drink orders, as well as the orders for the kids so they could get their food before the rest of us. Shortly after, a disgruntled patron a couple tables away from us in the sunroom was having a heated discussion with Angel. Angel walked away, visibly upset. He returned to our table to take the rest of our food orders, with continued professionalism. As our food started coming out, someone went to the disgruntled customer's table to, I assume, diffuse the earlier situation. Cool, all is well, and everyone can enjoy their meals. Or so we thought. As the disgruntled patron was walking out of the door, he continued his verbal tirade of Angel with harsh language and threats of physical action. Then suddenly the disgruntled customer throws his to go box at the hostesses hitting several people with his leftover food. Several employees began quickly cleaning up the mess. Obviously shaken up, Angel impressively returns to our table to check up on us, offering drink refills and apologizing for the disgruntled customers behavior. We assure him that it wasn't his fault. The manager, Augusta, also comes to our table to check up on us with civility and kindness. Food was good, atmosphere was great, service was impeccable. Thank you Angel and Augusta for keeping our celebration brunch a favorable experience. read more

I recently visited this restaurant on Mother's Day, and unfortunately witnessed what I considered to be very unprofessional behavior from a manager, who I believe was named Mirianna. A server was in the middle of taking a customer's order when the manager spoke to her in an aggressive and disrespectful manner in front of a restaurant full of customers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was uncomfortable and embarrassing to witness, especially on a holiday meant to be warm and celebratory.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I felt terrible for the employee, and honestly, if we had not already ordered our food, we would have left. The incident made it difficult to fully enjoy my meal afterward. No employee should be spoken to that way publicly, especially in a customer-facing environment. We had the friendliest waiter. I think his name was Joe. He was also attentive. My friend and I got the early bird specials. The Avgolemono soup was very flavorful. My friend really liked her salad. I had blackened salmon and my friend had grilled salmon and both were cooked perfectly. The vegetables did not have any seasoning, but I wasn't surprised. So Disappointed! We have been regular customers (& yelp reviewers for Jack's) for years now. This evening we came in for our go to order of calamari. We have raved about the calamari here to all of our friends. Tonight, however, when the calamari arrived at our table, it was different. The calamari size was larger, the serving size was smaller, the spices on it were different and it tasted rubbery. When we inquired about the change, we were told the owners changed the vender to try something different. Why try to fix something that wasn't broken? Time to start looking for a new regular go to restaurant for calamari. On the brighter side, all of our regular servers were great as always. They always greet us when we arrive as if we are family. I was not at all impressed or even satisfied with this place. I was driving back to San Jose and saw this and was so hungry I stopped. The outside is super cute. The inside setup is any chain restaurant. Nothing fancy. Not super clean. Staff were kind. The menu and food was mediocre. Not sure why but we had to ask for bread a few times to get some. During lunch we discovered a fresh new restaurant in Newark. Modern decorating with abundance of natural lighting. The large bar has multiple large t.v.'s. Staff was very professional and courteous. A solid lunch spot. My team frequently comes here for our lunch outings. You can easily make reservations, but we also never have a problem doing walk-in for lunch. The inside is huge and nicely decorated. They maintain the place very well and you can tell that this family-owned business cares about their workers and community. It was a nice try but real gyro is way better and a real lamb burger is way better. It had a yogurt sauce with some cucumber slices. The cross over effort was not for me.
