I could eat here every weekend and still enjoy it thoroughly. Love the vibe and the split-with-a-friend portions. They have the best pancakes ever chewy and fluffy and soakable in syrup. Seems like not too many people know about this place. But for those who love breakfast food, Jack's offers some awesome breakfast food. You must try there biscuit, it is definitely different from what you get from fried chicken places. I don't know much about biscuits but Jack's is so good! But of course they have more than just breakfast food, they have quite a good menu that's easy to read. The price is very affordable! A definite go-to for delicious breakfast/brunch/lunch food! Located in the Aina Haina shopping centre, there's always parking as well as other eateries, but Jack's is a must! However, nobody that currently works there is named Jack. The current owners, Norman and Michelle, are the sweetest! I can guarantee you a 5 for excellent service. Haven't been there in a bit, but last I went, I didn't regret getting the Kim Chee fried rice and the Jack's Special Club breakfast with guava juice. Pancakes, yum! True, the biscuits and honey-butter are great, but what brought us back were the reasonable prices. NO MORE! We went there for breakfast on this 7th day of the new year and were shocked to find that management literally JACKED up the prices more than 10 percent! We heard about Jack's from a co-worker. There isn't too many places for breakfast on the East side so we decided to try it this morning. Good thing we decided to go today instead of yesterday since there was a water main break at the shopping center so the restaurant was closed. I read the reviews on Yelp and decided to try the corned beef hash. I wasn't dissapointed. It was good. Perhaps the chunks of potato could have been smaller but nonetheless it was tasty. My order also included hash browns. Could have been browned a little more and I got 2 scrambled eggs. No condiments were added (salt/pepper, etc) so I added my own and also plopped some ketchup on it. The Special Bisquit was special as it was described. It came out hot! The honey butter was a great addition to it. I would take the bisquit over toast any day of the week. I am a regular toast fan so this was special. The other half had the short stack with the strawberry creme. The pancakes were light and fluffy. Pancakes were tasty. I didn't realize that they had entrees as well. Maybe the next time we go, we'll try those items. Parking was readily available. I'm sure the restaurant is crowded on the weekends so be ready for a short wait. Just be sure to stare at the patrons near the window so you can get your seat quicker! read more

What a great last minute find! We got there for a midmorning breakfast . The ox tail soup with ginger was sublime, very Asian! My wife got the mahi-mahi that was frighteningly fresh and perfectly prepared. My son got pancakes as fluffy as pillows while my daughters Thai chicken was sweet and juicy. The Kim chi fried rice was to die for. The waitstaff were happy and friendly and so was the owner...all females. Go and enjoy! read more

Yep, I yelped after a rather disappointing as usual hotel buffet, for a real mom and pop breakfast place. Yelp did not disappoint and pointed us in this direction. My husband had the mahi mahi and I had the eggs, rice and hamburger patty (without gravy so not loco moco but that is my new favorite breakfast item). It was quick, fresh and tasty and very inexpensive. Nice people there also. They gave us the scoop on the local botanical gardens and to get to Pearl Harbor before 7 to make it so we did not have to stand in line forever. Thanks guys, we will be back! read more

My favorite breakfast restaurant in Honolulu! I love the biscuit - I joked with the owner I'll give her 1 million dollars for the recipe. The Jack's omlette is the bomb (has mozzarella cheese and nice combo of fresh veggies & some meat). This is the only place I get corned beef hash. Staff is friendly and attentive. This is one of my favorite breakfast cafes. Dating back to my childhood, this was a must stop for early morning grub. The food has been consistent over the decades and that's really important when you're talking about the basics: rice, eggs, pancakes, omelets, breakfast meats, etc. The specialty biscuit with honey butter is really good. It's not something that needs to be or should be over-hyped. But if you have the option, why get boring toast? TIP: ask them to grill the biscuit. Jack's doesn't only serve breakfast, but I think I've only had lunch there once. Plan ahead because it does get crowded and the seating is quite cozy. Something had to be going right when there was a line of people outside waiting to be seated. I love coming here for breakfast! I have the #1 (2 pieces crispy bacon, 1 egg, ono biscuit, and coffee). I am not a big eater, and this is just perfect for me. They fry the bacon to a perfect crisp and make my (over hard) eggs just the way I like it (not overcooking the yolk to a dry powder.) The biscuit with honey butter is heaven. BF had the griddle cake w/omelet which was ono! The pancakes were perfection. I'm surprised that others find it overly priced or small portioned--to me, they are very reasonable. Breakfast for two came out to $13, which is really not bad in my opinion. (Zippy's charges $5 just for 3 pieces of bacon whereas my meal came out to $6). BF also declared himself "Full" so I take that as a pretty reliable gauge on portion size. They are open 7 days a week from 6:00am. We got there at 7:00 with only 3 other tables occupied. Not sure if this added to the speedy delivery of our food, but they sure were fast in bringing it out, much to our delight. When we left at 7:30, the place was pretty full. read more

Really poor experience. Got there and the gentleman who greeted us was very friendly. They do not accept Amex. That's a big red flag for us. If a business isn't profitable enough to accept Amex, then they are cheap(so their ingredients probably follow suit) or perhaps they don't do enough business to justify the cost. Either way, red flag. We sat down and waited for water or coffee, which didn't come for several minute. Finally, the nice fellow who was greeting people saw that we hadn't been waited on, so he asked if we were ready to order. My wife ordered a combo breakfast with eggs, Portuguese and fried rice. I asked for a papaya and combo breakfast with poached eggs. I was told they don't do poached eggs. I would understand this if there was a special tool required to poach an egg, but it takes a pan, water, an egg and heat. I decided to stay with the papaya. The papaya was good, but should be served with lime, not lemon. My wife's fried rice was the worst we've had hands down and was an up charge. The sausage was way over cooked and the oil seemed to be dirty that it was cooked in. Last, the "special muffin" was dry and had little to no flavor. The creamed butter for the top was very good. My Wife had to get up and walk back to the kitchen to ask for a coffee refill and not one time did anyone come by and check on us. Shocking because the place was half empty when we left. Very disappointing as we were referred by a friend. We won't make this mistake again. read more

Disgusting! Just went in for a chili dog and a cheeseburger. I have no idea how these people are still in business. Maybe they are having a bad day-I don't know. Okay first off my order was wrong, no big deal we just needed some cheese and mayo. Okay-really greasy and I have nothing good to say about it. Grease ball burger. Period. Now on to the chili dog--my husband was brought a chili dog that looked like the chili was pig slop. All over the plate!! I kindly asked for another bun because the bread was already soggy and gross. Everyone seems to like this place, I personally think it's way over priced, the portions are way to small for me. Granted everything tastes how it should; the corn beef hash is so tiny. It's just weird to me that only in Hawaii do you have to pay an arm and a leg for a sit down breakfast, eggs are really cheap, so is bacon- It's not just this place. Read majority of the reviews before I decided to come here. I ordered the Loco Moco and was disappointed. Hamburger was overcooked. I could bounce that patty off the floor. Gravy wasn't to rave for either. Fried rice was like beginners level too. And for the price? Not worth it for the quality and quantity you're paying for.
