So I go in and stand in line for 20 minutes to grab a take-out order which consisted of a salad containing lettuce, tomato and cucumber with dill dressing in the side. A small garlic fry and a tri tip plate with Mac n cheese and cheesy broccoli. Simple enough right? Apparently not! Went straight home. Maybe 5 minutes away. Garlic fries are greasy and limp! Found two parts of the romaine head you're supposed to cut off! And there's no BBQ sauce with my tri tip. The BBQ sauce is the entire reason I order the tri tip! I try to call several times to complain and request a refund but nobody answers and their mailbox is full! Guess I'll have to treat the employees like children and open up all the boxes in front of them before leaving next time.... this was my lunch and dinner for before and after work. This is a great fast lunch spot with consistently good food! Came here around 1:15 on a weekday. There was hardly any wait. I ordered a build your own salad, size of cheesy bread, and the urban fries. Holy cow for under $15 it was an insane amount of food. The salad was fresh and they have an amazing selection for toppings. The sandwiches all looked good too. The urban fries are amazing. Thin but not shoe-string with chili oil and blue cheese dressing drizzled on top. From the time I waited in line, ordered, payed, got my cutlery, water and sat down my food was delivered in under 5minutes total. So fast! You really want someone mismanaging your store like this? I spent $70 on a meal, and asked for some extra ranch- all I got was a snotty, eye roll, and rude response. I simply asked, hey, I'd like some extra ranch. I frequent this place 3-4 times a week. And buy my whole staff lunch here on Friday's too. I will NOT be going back here, EVER! Jacks, fire this lady! My last meal on earth will probably include Jack's Urban Fries: a heaping portion of salty fries smothered in blue cheese dressing and chili sauce. Between this wildly popular side and the spicy buffalo chicken salad, I'd be happy if I never ordered another dish on the menu. There is a reason Jack's is so popular. The salads are hand-tossed in front of you, the meats are fresh-cut and slow roasted and the sides can't be beat. Each location has a slightly hip/trendy vibe that compliments the food quite nicely. It comes down to the sides for me: uber-cheesy mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, green beans galore. Jack's makes me challenge my portion control. I'm especially ecstatic about this location because the service is always pretty good. This visit was my second time to Jack's Urban Eats, first time at this location. Stopped in for lunch after getting my gin-fix in across the street. Too noisy inside so we sat outside. I don't mind the get-in-line-to-order-and-we'll-bring-it-to-you concept but also expect that the prices would reflect accordingly. The fries were the best part. The food was not what I'd expect for a $11 sandwich/fries. My California Cheesesteak (sliced trip tip) was just ok, nothing special, tasted fine, but not great. I hear that she liked the salmon and the salad was not overdressed but overall looked a little bleak on the large plate. Total bill for the two plates and two waters was somewhere near $23 (I didn't get a receipt so I'm not entirely sure). The staff was friendly but seemed disorganized and rushed. It was interesting that they brought the two items to us separately; first her salad and my sandwich followed a few minutes later. We weren't alone ... I watched this happen with other tables outside. A good choice for a relatively quick lunch and while I don't mind paying for good food and service, this was lacking in both aspects. Like a typical hof brau layout - order your food at the counter and the staff will make your salad or sandwich fresh and carve up your cooked meats. They just pulled out a fresh slab of tri-tip beef as soon as I walked up and I forgot what my original order was. Since it was sunny we decided to sit outside. The food is brought to you. Jack's classic tri-tip - juicy beef goodness that the caramelized onions, tomato, mayo and honey mustard doesn't overpower. I really liked the sweetness from the honey mustard and onions. Their fresh onion bun provides a good balance and suppleness. Spicy buffalo sandwich - this thing is messy! Crispy chicken breast dipped in a real sweet buffalo wing type sauce. I would've liked a little bit more spice, but that's just me. California cheese-steak - tri-tip, roasted peppers, pepperjack cheese, w/spicy aioli on a ciabatta roll. Mac and cheese - very similar to my nose after eating 2 lbs of wasabi, runny. CPK atmosphere, Plutos type grub, Chick-n-Coop prices, all rolled into one. Food-- 3 stars! Service -1 star! I had a disappointing experience at Jack's. Have you ever seen a group of teenagers out on the street advertising their fund raising car wash? These kids never washed a car in their lives and now are in charge of detailing your vehicle. As a customer you leave disappointed but feel good knowing you donated to the cause. That's how I felt at Jack's. These teenagers behind the counter had no idea of how to greet or treat customers inside the restaurant. Instead they were too busy talking amongst themselves about their social activities. I was greeted with " Will you be having salad"? I get it, this isn't your typical restaurant setup. There are a bunch of kids behind the counter in charge of their section of the assembly line. As a result, the salad girl only concerns herself about that part of the menu. However, this was our first (and only) visit to this place, and I would have liked to see one of these workers act like they cared about our experience. As for the food, it was OK. My wife and I had the carved tri-tip with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The tri-tip was a little overdone and dry for my liking. However, I was a fan of the mashed potatoes--- the gravy was delicious. In my opinion, this place is overrated. Perhaps, I am an old man now who doesn't remember what it was like to be a teenager working their first job. Salad order was miraculously correct (probably because I picked every ingredient and watched the employee put it directly into the salad). The side of zucchini however? See for yourself. My wife just ate lunch here for the first time last week.....she is MUCH more critical than me about restaurant food---she is VERY sensitive to food additives--- most chain restaurants make her extremely sick (headaches, nausea, vomiting, or all of the above). JACK'S URBAN EATS: passed the "Did Not Make My Wife Sick" test: She had the "Buffalo Chicken Salad", and it satisfied her appetite and kept her full the entire day! Usually, Buffalo style chicken is full of MSG but obviously the kind served by Jack's is MSG-free. The salad had apples & walnuts in it..... And a very good Blue Cheese dressing (Did I mention she's sensitive to salad dressings, too?) Her co-worker had the Thai Salmon salad, and the "Urban Fries" --Jack's version of chili cheese fries with blue cheese & chili oil. Both were excellent according to my wife, because her co-worker devoured every last drop! First time here and heard it was good so figured the family would try it out for dinner. I didn't realize it wasn't your traditional restaurant. We stand in line and give our order to the guys behind the counter. They jotted down what I wanted but I still had to go to the end of the line and mention one of my orders to the cashier. I created my own salad with steak and there was more pink meat than I'd like. My husband had a tri-tip steak sandwich which he said was okay. My son had carved meat and got a plate of little bits of pink meat and bread. We ordered a family size garlic fries basket and it was pretty good. So even though the food was good, something was bothering me. When we left I finally figured it out. Now I'm going to have to compare it to Pluto's because its the exact same concept. I ordered from DoorDash today for lunch and I just had to give this review. DoorDash refunded me but this experience was awful. My coworker and I ordered salads for lunch and she prompted me to look at the lettuce in salad because her lettuce was very old and brown and wilted, so badly to the point where she wasn't comfortable eating her salad. So I started looking at my salad and my lettuce was also old and wilted looking, a lot of the parts were brown. As I started looking at my salad there was something inside my salad that did not match any of the ingredients. I took it out and it looked like maybe a pit to a tomato? But I had cherry tomatoes so it didn't make much sense but it was also molded. I contacted DoorDash immediately and threw the food away and I was issued a refund but I can't believe this kind of service from Jack's. My husband and I ordered turkey platters with mashed potatoes (dreadful and lukewarm), broccoli (cold and served with congealed, highly processed cheese sauce....so gross), some asparagus that were ok except the ends were not properly trimmed and were like chewing wood...and then the very best part....turkey that was room temperature. I don't know how this place could pass a health department inspection with all of the lukewarm food. That's not safe. I've always been a huge fan of Jack's. I love the "cafeteria" style setting and I love that you can go hot or cold for your food. Their meats are always cooked and seasoned so well and their produce is always fresh. Found this place on Yelp. Based on reviews and pics (I love pics) we went to eat there. It wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be a sit down restaurant where you order. It isn't. You grab a menu and stand in a line. When you get to the counter you place your order. For made to order salads they prepare them right there. For other items they take your name and give you a ticket. You then slide down and add drinks, pay and get a number. They deliver the food to you when it is done. The place was really clean and the food came super fast. It was fresh and really good. I had a steak salad and the steak strips were cooked perfectly. A generous cut of beef that's cooked medium with good texture topped with a zingy bbq sauce, yummy mayo, crisp onion rings, and fresh greens and tomatoes all in a chewy bun is a delightful filling sandwich in which i keep coming back for more. I am not sure why it has taken me so long to visit Jacks, but I was in the mood for a good salad and we were out and about and my mom who lives nearby convinced me to stop by Jacks for an early dinner. I really liked the make my own salad option, they had lots of toppings (although sorta sad that we can only get 6, toppings are the best part of the salad!) and I really enjoyed my meal. Be aware that sides come separately (my husband ordered a sandwich but fries are not included) so overall I think prices are a little bit high, but overall I like being able to eat out but still be able to make some healthy choices. You need to educate your employees. They don't know how to apologize. I've waited for 40 minutes due to the employee's mistake. I've watched everything during the whole 40 minutes, only a couple people are working( employees in back shirts). Most of them are just chatting and very disorganized. I order food here 2-3 time a week, because I like the taste of the foods, but they typically got my order wrong. ( also I own a company and order food here for my employees, about 20ish people, once a month)For example, superfood salad with tri-tip (upgrade) for 1/3 chance you don't get your steak on your salad. Upgrade fries (garlic or sweet potato) for 50% chance they give you regular fries. And they never apologize or give money back for what they've done wrong. I don't post negative comment but they really need to know a kind word turns away wrath. So disappointed today and probably won't go back for awhile unless they change. read more
