Jackson diner usually has some good food with a pretty wide menu selection. I will however tell you to stay away from Granny's famous potato pancakes... these were disgusting. Almost like four McDonalds hash browns on top of some lettuce and tomatoes for breakfast... yuck. read more

This is what diners in NJ should be and not many will ever reach. Let me start off by saying the service is fantastic. The wait staff keeps this place in tact. The breakfast and prices are fantastic. The food is delicious as far as breakfast and lunch options go never had dinner, nor would I recommend having dinner at a traditional diner. Just ate at the Jackson Diner for the first time and I was very impressed. The service and ambience was excellent and my food was outstanding. I had the split pea soup for an appetizer and then the turkey dinner with stuffing and mashed potatoes with corn. It was very good. I will definitely be returning to try other things. read more

First time diner. The staff was friendly and attentive to our table. The food was okay. I had the Pop Special Country Fried steak with sausage gravy. I would order it again. My wife had the vegetable pannini eggplant cut to thick to much cheese. The kids meal of choc chip pancakes not so good I wonder if they cook them in the morning and reheat per order at night. I come to Jackson Diner exclusively for the 2 egg plate, so keep that in mind. I've been here many times and sometimes they drop the ball. Like using margarine instead of butter, which is hardly palatable to me. Call me entitled, but when I'm at a diner my coffee mug shouldn't stay empty for long. read more

Over the years the service and food have been satisfactory. However, a recent visit showed how even the best of intentions can go very south. The matzoh ball soup was SO BAD it defied belief. The soup itself lacked any carrots, onions or celery and the matzoh balls lacked any discernable taste and the texture left a lot to be desired. Have been regulars of the Jackson Diner for the past years despite some ups and downs with the food and tonight we have totally given up! We ordered three sandwiches and only one was edible. The other two sandwiches would have been better prepared in a school cafeteria. When we complained - which we never did before - we were told "sorry" and handed the bill. There was no attempt to make restitution by taking something off the bill or offering a raincheck on another meal. We were not looking for a freebee rather to feel valued. Everything a diner should be! Generous portions of comfort food with authentic 50's decor. My whole family had a great meal from my kick butt burger to my son's spaghetti and meatballs which looked like a normal sized portion even though it was ordered from the kids menu. The womenfolk had eggplant parm and the cheesiest Mac and cheese I've ever seen. Total bill came to $40 including drinks, an extra plate of fries and ice cream for the kids. Consistently good food and great service. Expect to wait if you go at peak times. My only problem with the place is the noise. 50's decor=lots of tile which makes the sound bounce around unpleasantly. It can get very loud. Went there for a nice dinner with the kids. They charge $5 for a bowl of mac and cheese with no side which is kind of high. The kids order chocolate milk which I assumed came with their meal since it said it comes with a small beverage. We each ordered a meal and were not impressed at all. When the bill came I was charged $6.75 for 3 large chocolate milks. When I questioned it some very nasty women told me the menu said the kid's meals come with a small soda. I told her it said beverage and she said well it means soda. After a tantrum by her and the guy working the register they took it off the bill. He then informed me the cost is higher for the kids to get milk or juice with their meal and waitress never told us it only comes with soda. We will never eat there again which is a shame since we live within walking distance. read more

I love this place. With the very limited dining options in Jackson, this has become one of my go-tos whenever I'm back in my hometown. It's clean, the service is quick and (typically) friendly, and your coffee is constantly re-filled. I've only ever gotten breakfast items, and it is probably hard to screw up eggs, but this is still one of my favorites in the area. Don't look for a diner type building you wont find it. The diner is in a strip mall which makes the experience that much cooler. Upon entering the diner the decor is 50s like. Small dining room thank goodness the counter had seats. My wife ordered the reuben sandwich which comes with fries and I ordered the roast beef wrap with swiss. The reuben was fantastic with the kraut( had a bite or two) and the fries werent overcooked just right. The roast beef was medium rare and delicious. Fries also came with the wrap. Also had a bowl of split pea soup which I might say was also great. For dessert I shared a rice pudding and cup of coffee with my wife . Very good rice pudding and coffee tasted fresh. Our waitress Sarah was attentive to our needs and gave great service. Overall my experience at the Jackson Diner was excellent. It was hands down the best diner food I ever had and I hail from North Jersey Bergen County where diners are a dime a dozen. read more

The diner has an interesting décor. You think its a large place but its not that big once you go inside. They have an extensive menu and the food is decent but I find it to be pricey for what you get. If you drink coffee you will love this place. Someone is always going around filling coffee cups. Its worth one visit but I prefer to go to the Lakehurst or JBs 57 Diner. read more

I'd relegate the Jackson Diner to breakfast or lunch. They do have good breakfast and lunch items, sandwiches, salads, etc. The dinner items I have tried have been just ok. The service is quite good, with the wait staff being attentive making sure you have everything you need. My family and I do enjoy the breakfast, it's very good. Large portions, nice and hot and fresh. The dinners I am not a fan of. But to be honest I'm not a fan of most diner dinners. It's not that they're not good, they're just plain. And the fact that ALL diner food is the same from whichever Jersey diner you go to, it gets a little "more of the same". It's almost like every Jersey diner is a chain restaurant with no originality besides the décor. Same breakfast, same lunch, same dinner. I wish these diners would gain more of a personality and creativity in their food to make them stand out. My wife and I went here at least twice a week or more for the past 3 years. Don't know what happened, but 3 times in a row had to send back scrambled eggs. Then the a--hole son claimed there wasn't anything wrong, what a jerk. But we went back for lunch. Spinach Pie was terrible. They have now lost a steady customer!!!!
