Been wanting to try Jacob's Pickles and it didn't disappoint! Omg their pickles are soo good! Location: It is located around Columbus Ave and West 93rd St. Service: didn't interact much. We just ordered and thats it. Food: well I don't like pickles but their pickles is good! I would definitely eat it! You can also buy it in a jar! DEVILED EGGS: it was so good, the egg melts in your mouth. HONEY CHICKEN & PICKLES: the bread at the bottom became soggy becauase of the oil from the chicken. But otherwise the chicken was fried into perfection. There is a lot of pickles too! ORIGINAL SMASH BURGER: omg so good as well. The burger itself is not dry and it has hot sour pickles! Price rating: 8/10. Typical price, but buy that jar of pickles! Soo good Will definitely come back here to try other food on the menu, but will definitely get those pickles!
Heading into the city there's a million of restaurants to check out and Jacob's Pickles is pretty known. But is it worth it? Sadly no... The biscuits and gravy came out in less than 5 mins, you would assume that's great right? Nope, it was still half cold like they just threw it in the oven for 4 mins and hoped for the best. Yeah no...half warm half cold gravy and sausage? Not the best. The smash burger was just burnt, yes i understand the concept of a smash burger you want a crisps to it but you also want meat to bite into just like a regular burger. Fries and pickles were good tho. Thankfully. The lemon chicken was pretty good but def didn't have any lemon taste to it. But that's also a personal preference so I can't knock them down for that. Overall, it's a ok place but nothing wow about them. There's plenty of other places to check out. Oh and our waiter over poured my beer and it was just dripping all over the place. A simple spill out or new glass would've been nice instead of a sticky and slippery glass. Just a thought...
The service was amazing from start to finish, our waitress was Emma or Emily (sorry forgot the name). We asked and she made some really good recommendations, unfortunately the food was not that great. A friend that dined here previously warned us beforehand but I wanted to see/taste for myself. The Jam Jar was good. The M & C was overpowering, the biscuits were a bit dry, the deviled eggs were bland, the BLT was very busy and the flavor was lacking. My friend somewhat enjoyed her octopus salad. So, J.P. replaced one of my favorite spots Agave, I would go there for Happy Hour and to people watch. I will be doing that here, I will explore the menu over the next few visits and hopefully I will have a better review.
dee.li.cious. This place was on the way to my favorite coffee shop at the moment. I decided to stop in. Such a big place. Menu looked good. Had the $19 special -- double smashburger with seasonal soup and fries. Strawberry lemonade was a hit as well. Service was stellar. Attentive. Timely. Good instincts.
Tried Jacob's Pickles for the first time with friends. Had the calamari with fried pickles appetizer, loved the fried pickles and aioli sauce that came with it. The calamari was alright as I've had better, some pieces were kind of chewy and other pieces were great. Liked that it was lightly breaded. Had the grilled salmon salad over a salad and enjoyed it. Loud inside and the place was hopping as we had our early dinner after being in the museum all day. My friends enjoyed their burrata salad. Hubby liked his spicy chicken sandwich but the sandwich bread part fell apart as he was eating it and it wasn't spicy at all.
Walking on the west side of the park in the way to see the Jackie O reservoir, Yelpers led the way to Jacob's Pickles. What a great spot with outdoor seating and a varied menu to suit all preferences. It's clearly a place for locals to hangout for an adult beverage and or meal. Our waiter warned us that the portions are generous and it was no lie! When I sat down, I eyed the wedge salad at the next table and decided that was for me. Now, what I didn't know was that it came with two large pieces of fried chicken that were moist and tender. Marinating in buttermilk will do that so I appreciate that extra touch. Half of the order came back with me for dinner the next day. Hubby got the big bowl of mussels and fries and enjoyed the order. He commented that they kitchen took the time to clean the mussels which speaks to attention to detail. He also commented on how big and tender they were. Our friends enjoyed their meals too. I highly recommend Jacob's and look forward to coming back. It's locals which is refreshing.
Large, bright restaurant with a variety of seating options including a covered outdoor space. The portions are large and filling. The $19 lunch is an excellent value. I had the salmon burger which came with 2 cups of green salad (or fries) and a cup of soup of the day (lentil). The soup was good. The salmon burger was mostly breading and was piled with shredded cabbage. The sandwich was dry, but a little better after I requested tartar sauce. My companion had the biscuit with fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, bacon, slaw, and a side of grits. He liked it. I thought the tomatoes were too heavily breaded and I've never been a fan of their biscuits. They're not buttery, flaky or round. Service was a little slow and I guess they don't do refills of ice tea. After I finished mine, I never had an opportunity to ask for another.
Wow this is quite a lot of food. If you are looking for a good southern style brunch or lunch spot in the upper west side, Jacob's pickles is a classic. This spot just reopened after the old Jacob's pickles shutdown and they really changed the whole vibe of the place. It is much larger much more seating with open windows making it quite a vibe on a great summer days with good weather. We came in with a party of 6 and we had to order a platter of pickles and i ordered a hot honey chicken French toast. Service was nice and kind and understanding. They actually messed up my order first time through and brought out honey chicken and buscuits but understood after realizing the mixup, so my food took a bit longer to come out than for most people (around 25ish mins). As many reviews for Jacob's pickles claim, the portion sizes here are massive. That hot honey French toast is basically two separate meals and was quite delicious. The breast was nice and soft and the chicken was sweet and perfectly fried. I am also a fan of all things hot honey. While I wouldn't say this was the healthiest lunch option on the menu, it is quite filling and delicious. For the price, a great value option for a delicious meal. Will definitely be coming back for more!
I did not get fat eating light, but man oh man I happy camper here. Al knew the menu and is a great set sell, not pushy and chill. Definitely bring a friend who is the hell can eat all this food! 19 dollar lunch special includes entree, soup and salad. Wow!
My family and I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We made reservations about one week in advance, and while there were tables available, we had limited times to pick from. We shared a platter of pickles. I had the veggie cheese omelette, which contained mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, and cheddar. It's usually served with home fries, but I swapped them for fresh fruit. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. It was someone's birthday in our party, and at the end of the meal, they brought out a biscuit with ice cream for the table. Great service!
While I've heard so many positive reviews about Jacob's Pickles, I was left a little disappointed. I ordered off their seasonal menu and got the blueberry and lemon pancakes. We all agreed that K "won" since everyone else's meal was subpar. The biscuits and gravy were soggy and cold. The other meal had tough chicken and undercooked potatoes. Our server was so sweet but didn't check on us often despite the restaraunt being fairly empty. I did hear they recently relocated- and this new location is much more spacious compared to the last!
There comes a time in one's life when you violently crave pickles. So what do you do? You bring your ass here and eat a delightful amount of damn good pickles. Be warned entrees are large and addicting. Fried chicken was bomb and reminded me briefly of fried chicken from the south. Interior was pretty. Service was phenomenal. Drinks hit. What more could a girl ask for?
What a great spot. Came in on a Thursday evening. Had a reservation and were quickly sat in their "outdoor" area. The server was so fun and attentive and nice. Dishes came out pretty quick. Generous portions and delicious. The deviled eggs and honey chicken sandwich were the highlights. Cocktails were good- got the pickled margarita and it was actually delicious.
!!! warning !!! if you come here order half of what you usually would order because the servings here are MASSIVE. We came here for my friend's 21st birthday and the waiter was so nice he gave her a free birthday shot! Overall decent food, I'm not a huge fan of Southern food so I rated it a 7.5 but take that with a grain of salt Mac n Cheese (9/10): So yum. This dish is rich and creamy and the beset part is the perfectly crusted top House Fries (7/10): The House Fries had a good texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It paired really well with their complimentary side sauces. Also ordering fries with our ceasar was a must Chicken Ceasar Salad (7/10): This dish was okay, but not a huge standout. The portion was huge, but the salad was kinda dry so we asked for an extra side of the sauce. HOSTESSES BEYOND NASTY THE WORLD WOULD BE A BETTER PLACE IF JACOB's PICKLES SUNDAY HOSTESSES TOOK AN ALTERNATIVE CAREER PATH! We all understand that often you don't get a table, or have to wait for a long time before you are seated. That is fine. What is not nice is when the management of tables becomes the excuse to treat customers poorly. That is not-cool. The hostesses at the entrance of this establishment offer an unacceptable treatment to customers. I feel obliged to report this with the hope that the management takes action and addresses the humiliating and disrespectful way the couple of people who run the table assignation neglect their customers. I was there on Sunday, 12/15 around 12:30 pm. We were 6 people in total. Following the "first come, first served" policy Jacob Pickles announces in its website, as we arrived we asked for a table for a party of 6.. HOSTESSES BEHAVING AS IF THEIR JOY WAS INTO INSULTING CUSTOMERS: Hostess: Do you have a reservation? Me: How could I? In your web you state that you only take reservations for parties of more than 6 people.... Hostess (interrupting): For six people you need to make a reservation. Me: But in your web it says that for six or less you state to run through 'first come... Hostess (interrupting): You need a reservation. Because you didn't, you have to wait for 1 hour and 15 minutes. You are not staying, right? Me: Yes, we are staying. Where are the other people waiting? Hostess: Many of them wait at the bar. Me: We will also wait at the bar. Hostess: You are not allowed to wait in the bar. I am going to ask you to leave the establishment and wait outside. And be aware that when we call you, we will only wait for 5 minutes, if you come 6 minutes after we won't give you the table. Me: Can we at least leave the baby stroller folded here with these other strolkers? Hostess: No. Me (50 minutes later): How is it going? Hostess (annoyed): I told you that you'd need to wait 1 hour and 15 minutes. Keep waiting. We were only seated 1 hour and 45 minutes after our arrival. ALL THIS, WHILE AT LEAST TWO Party-of-6 TABLES WERE KEPT EMPTY FOR MORE THAN 1.5 HOURS. PLEASE MAKE THE WORLD A JACOB's-PICKLE's-HOSTESS-FREE WORLD Jacob's Pickles, this is unthinkable. Please remember that people come here to celebrate. We do not need to come here. It is not acceptable to have rude and offensive people welcoming (not-welcoming) your customers. The whole point is to have a good time, and that is what we pay for, not to be humiliated and insulted. Very flavorful savory food with really BIG portions too! I had the hot chicken biscuit and my bf got the honey chicken and pickles biscuit. The chicken was crispy and very well seasoned. It had a kick to it but wasn't unbearably spicy. I liked the hot chicken better than the honey chicken, the honey chicken was a bit too sweet for me but still really good! I really enjoyed the cheese grits that came on the side with the biscuit sandwiches. It was creamy and such a flavorful addition to the meal. The biscuit was very good too, it wasn't dry and paired really well with the chicken and cheese grits. I'm personally not too big a fan of pickles so I think it says a lot when I say that I really liked the pickles here! The biscuit sandwiches come with a HUGE pile of pickles. The vibe here is fun, they were playing really good 2000's r&b hits, it was a bit loud but it didn't bother me. There's indoor seating as well as outdoor seating. The servers were also very nice and gave us their recommendations when we were being indecisive. Would come again if I'm in the area! read more
This place was amazing! There are lots of seating options inside and out. We didn't have to wait a minute to get seated. Service wasn't much but the waiter seemed to be in charge of a handful of tables. Started off with their original beer and for 32oz the price was great. The beer was very smooth and buttery and I recommend it. Started off with the fried pickles and just by the picture I assume you could think they were very good (which they were). For my main I got the shrimp and bacon grits and was so happy I did. The shrimp were massive and the flavors all worked so well. I don't have grits very often but these ones are amazing. We also got the smash burger and the pulled pork sandwich which both were very good too. Make sure to come here with an appetite because the portions are huge. We were barely able to finish ours. The prices are outstanding though and I would love to try out every time on their menu. If you're in the area try this place out. We loaded up on a bog breakfast before a long walk in central park. We were not dissappointed, as my son made reservation 6 weeks ahead, having been there before. I had the french toast biscuit which coupled with restaurant made maple syrup was divine covered in fresh strawberries. My daughter got the Coop, which was like a sampler platter. We started the meal with pickles and coffee... not perfect combo, but the pickled pickles, carrots and peppers were really good and worth sampling. I liked the spicy carrots. Tasty. read more
An iconic uws weekend brunch spot thats been packed for as long as I can remember. Even for wednesday lunch the indoor was packed so we got an outdoor table (of which they have a ton of). While the food was good it didn't seem anything special to me though the portions are very generous. My biggest gripe was with the slow service - our waiter was nice but impossible to flag down for anything and we probably spent more of the meal waiting around than actually eating. read more

This is an Upper West Side version of Ricardo's in East Harlem when it comes to the music volume and the 'woohoo' crowd- in varying ways. From what I've read, Jacob's P. portions are for the maverick in you. We got a text within 20 mins and led downstairs to a dungeon. No thanx. With the blaring music, told the host we wanted better seating and sat us in their inside-outside part of the restaurant. Better. My fried green tomato starter was good- maybe a dash of salt would've made flavors pop and hubs loved the bacon steak+maple syrup. Our alcohol drinks tasted like juice- so Rosé for me and a lager for hubs afterwards worked better. Main plates were off. Hubs pushed away the ton of pickled veggies that took over the one piece of measly grilled catfish in each of his tacos. My friend Mel wrote 6 years ago- about the 'plump prawns'- mine were 5 rock-hard medium shrimp in a glorious and bountiful kale salad with sliced almond+cranberries +golden raisins. Service from our waitress was great and dashed like flash to please. This was our first time coming here- but from all the great reviews, seems as if Jacob's was pumping back in the day. Not the case in '23. How things have changed. Will you be saying the one flimsy strip of fish and all the pickled veggies in tacos are due to some sort of labor shortage? What about the juiced-up cocktails that missed on the alcohol part? Or my 5, over-cooked shrimp in a pile of greens? Jacob's P. ingredients are being substituted for lower-quality ones and our main meals and drinks took the brunt of it. The menu is huge and looks like it's full of winners on paper. Ginormous portions you will definitely get here as well as presentation. Always wanted to try this place, and I'm happy I did! The slow country meatloaf dinner was so good, it was tender, the mashed potatoes were creamy! It also came with a biscuit with cinnamon butter on top, and Cole slaw. I don't like Coleslaw but theirs was so good and made in house. The fried onions on top of this dish sets it off. The shrimps & grits were delicious! The grits had just enough butter, the shrimps weren't overcooked and the bacon bits really tied the dish together. The service was great. The restaurant was clean and I love the theme. Definitely will be going here again! read more

This place was soooo good! Our server was awesome and she gave good recommendations on the menu. The bloody blt (drink) was very good and a bit spicy, with a really good jalapeño hard boiled egg on top. The chilaquiles were incredible! The portion sizes are huge so if you're getting an appetizer (which you should) I would recommend splitting an entree or be prepared to take it home read more

My friend selected this restaurant for Restaurant Week, having saved it on Yelp and decided it was a sign to go. Although we arrived a bit late due to getting lost on the train, the restaurant was very accommodating with their 15-minute grace period; we arrived 14 minutes late. The seating is somewhat tight, but not uncomfortably so. The lunch menu was well-curated, with perfectly portioned and absolutely delicious dishes. It was an excellent choice! While we could have shared our main courses, we opted for different ones. We did share our appetizers and dessert, which were served promptly and were as tasty as they looked. Placed an order online for pick up before heading upstate: Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens. When I came by the order wasn't ready yet and the host was shooing everyone away. When I saw the bag was brought up to the front I tried again and it was my order! Not too long of a wait. I asked for utensils and she looked confused until the guy who brought the order didn't start shuffling around the front for some. I said thank you and she just kept staring at me. Anyway, after the awkward interaction I went to the car and opened up the glorious Mac and cheese and ate pretty much had the whole thing. It was everything I ever imagined and wanted. Delicious! Collard greens were also really good. When I'm in the mood for greasy homey meal, this is the spot. Wish I got some pickles too. But the meal was pricey already so next time! read more
Boy, what a surprise this meal was. We went here with our kids and my sister's family, and everyone was so pleased. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, we ate inside. It's more of a fun, louder environment, so a cozy romantic dinner may not be here on a busy night. Our waiter was so great (I'm sorry I didn't get his name)! We started out with drinks- they have a great selection of beer and mixed drinks. Then we did appetizers. The biscuits are a must- with all those amazing butters and toppings to choose from you can't miss. The special of the day was a lemon blueberry biscuit and I wish I could have the recipe- these were incredible. We also had fried pickles (how can you not do pickles???) and the deviled eggs and all were delicious. We had a bunch of different meals- shrimp & grits, buffalo Mac & cheese, ribs (fall off the bone good), biscuit sandwiches- all were good. We left so full, but so happy. The only suggestion is to not dim the lights soo much at night- it was really hard to see. lol. Please open a spot in Detroit. I'll quit my day job and come work for you. read more

Came here with a party of 7 on a Tuesday mid day and was seated right away. My cousin recommended we share plates since they give large portions and she was not joking. Ordered a fresh squeezed lemonade, chicken and pancakes to share and some of their mac and cheese. Let me just say that their mac and cheese is probably the best I've ever had. I find myself craving it often. It was some of the creamiest, cheesiest, and slightly crispy mac and cheese I've ever had!! I would literally go here over and over again just for that, so please never change the recipe. As for the chicken it had a nice crispy skin and good flavor, the bacon on the pancakes for me was a little overwhelming in flavor so i would probably ask for the pancakes without it next time. Overall a really good spot for some southern/comfort food. You'll definitely leave feeling full. read more

Popular restaurant with big portions and great food! My son and I enjoyed our lunch. Service was friendly and attentive even during the busy lunch hour. Loved the lively atmosphere and dark wood interior. We ordered a few items to share. Lemon Blueberry Biscuit-so good! Light fluffy and full of blueberries. Pickles-my favorites were the pickled beets and spicy carrots. House Salad-generous sized side salad with a tasty house dressing. Buffalo Chicken Mac and Cheese-cheesy goodness topped with crispy chicken and a drizzle of blue cheese. So good! Chicken Bacon Egg and Cheese Sandwich-my son ordered this giant monstrosity and finished every bite except for the grits. He even ordered a side of the sausage gravy and loved it with the sandwich. Great lunch and I would definitely come back to try more items and enjoy a drink or two! read more
When you come here, make sure you're really hungry. Portions are HUGE so it's a good idea to share if you're not a big eater. Otherwise take your leftovers home. I always leave unable to finish my orders, and go home with enough food for the next few days. Everything is so delicious! It's usually pretty busy, and it's a nice casual vibe. read more

No Happy hour here. Portions here are incredibly generous. The chicken here is so juicy and full of flavor, pair that with the mountain of pickles and the biscuit you have the perfect bite. The wait staff here is incredibly friendly and transparent; one girl in our party has many food allergens and the waitress told her which items to avoid and gave her a suggestion of how she could order a few sides to make a custom meal. We sat at their outdoor dining area which has overhead heaters so even though it was chilly outside the dining experience was good overall. I'm glad I finally got to try this place' read more
Came straight here after I landed into NY. Came during their lunch time and it wasn't too busy. We got seated right away. Plenty of items to choose from menu and they also have specials that aren't on the menu. I decided on the Jacobs Patty melt. Very big portions and loaded with fries. Ideal to share this plate. The patty melt was good and cooked well. The fries were also good. We did get an item that was on their specials which was fries loaded chicken bacon ranch. It was a high portion and a meal on its own. Personally I wasn't impress with it. It was a little too much for me. Service was ok the waiter wasn't too attentive. Good portion sizes for the price but I wasn't overly impressed with the food. It was good but not great, not worth the lines that are out the door on weekends at least. The fried pickles were bland. I had the hot chicken biscuit and found it to be heavy and salty. The pancakes were good. Overall a solid choice but not my favorite brunch spot. read more
For New York, this was decent southern food, but compared to the actual south it's hard to say that this lives up to that standard. The pulled pork was my favorite - tender, juicy, and flavorful. The Mac and cheese was great, very creamy and decadent. Unfortunately the chicken sandwich was a flop, the biscuit got soggy and the chicken lacked crunch. I thought the sandwiches that are made here for tiki chick are far better chicken sandos. The pickles were good though! read more
Forget hot girl summer. It's all about hot biscuit summer. Not just any biscuit, but specifically the biscuits made here at Jacob's Pickles. They were freaking delicious. Not a single crumb left behind. They under promised and over delivered- quoted 30 minute wait time and sat us in 5 min. Say wattt?! That's a win in itself. We ordered the chicken caesar salad, chicken plate, okra app, and biscuits. All of which made us super full and why we keep doing this and not learning our lesson I do not know. Food was delicious and nice size beer menu! As for the biscuits, they are valid. I had the chicken & pickles sandwich, definitely took more than half home, but eaten fresh, so good! My BF had the chicken and pancakes, pancakes were mid, but chicken was nice and flavorful. As for drinks we had the summer beer flight, all good, fruity options, I also had the Jam Jar, get that! Also the staff was friendly, there was a shift change while we were there and neither one of outgoing waitresses missed a beat! Took a star off because the hostess tried to sit us in the corner that someone sitting at another table would have to get up for us to sit (the guys back was basically resting on that table)! I was able to finally get reservations at Jacob's Pickles for brunch and it is completely worth it! I absolutely love the food here it is really freaking good! Who would've thought that chicken and pickles would go together in perfect harmony? Don't even get me started on the chicken and pancakes. These are a divine gift from the heavens. It is so juicy both savory and sweet coming in union like yin and yang. i truly cannot describe it in words and these pictures doesn't do the justice it deserves. I recommend going here as soon as you can. The service is very awesome and despite the ambiance being busy, the service is still fantastic. The inside of the restaurant is rustic vibes and very laid back. it is a bit loud but that's what happens with good food it has you talking all about it! I give this place a 9/10 A- rating! Yes, they have covered, heated outdoor seating that's very nice and your dog is definitely welcome. I saw other dogs in there during my visit.
Is the brunch menu only for weekends? Do you serve food in the morning on weekdays? Where's the non-dinner menu?

I have a picky child, is there a kids menu or will see have to be creative with the regular dinner menu?
There is no kids menu. I recommend sharing an item from the menu as the portions are large enough to share.
Is Jacobs pickles dog friendly?
They have outdoor seating, that would be your best bet. Inside it is pretty cramped and not much room for pets.
What are the vegan options?
Most of their pickles, a few of the starters like fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, okra & chiles, and a few of the sides like house fries, house salad, side of fruit.
Is there even one single vegan option? EDIT: besides pickles
All the sides are vegan except for the Collards & Black Eye Peas because that's cooked with pork shoulder; and the biscuits. I'm not sure what the Fried Pickles and the Fried Green Tomatoes are fried in though.
Are the mashed potatoes gluten free?! (Or can be made GF without gravy?)

Are there any vegetarian options?
Yes. Although it's overall meat heavy menu, for brunch there is plenty of veggie omelettes, pancakes, breakfast sandwiches, all available. Dinner, however would be much more disappointing for a vegetarian as there are very few options.
