The best authentic Chinese food, hands down I've had in 45 years. It was richly flavorful to the point where you could taste the many different delicious flavors, with a variety of textures and extremely fresh ingredients. The service was excellent as well - attentive, without being intrusive. I can't say enough about how great it was. If you like Americanized nearly blah "chinese" food with the generic brown or sickeningly sweet sauce, this is not the place for you. I am already a fan of Jade's having visited their Willamette location. When I saw that they have a new second location at 5th street I was beyond thrilled. This is a great area for them. The 5th street area is a popular area for visitors and how perfect for one of Eugene's best dumpling houses to be right there for people to try. This is also an area that is easier for me to visit frequently so I am seeing many dumplings in my future. I love how as soon as you walk in you see someone meticulously working on making dumplings or various dim sum. On my recent visit I ordered dinner to go and the service was quick. I got the vegetable dumplings, DELICIOUS. I ordered pan fried pork buns for my Beeb, DELICIOUS. And we split an order of red bean steam buns, DELICIOUS. Jade Dumpling & Noodle House is a reliable restaurant that serves delicious Chinese food. Their service is quick and the waiters keep it moving. Their shrimp pork xiao long bao is good and their shrimp shumai is good for Eugene's standards but I'm from the Bay Area and it's hard to beat the traditionals from the bay . The stars of the show though are their stir fried green beans and dry pot spare ribs with potatoes. These are seasoned to perfection and I couldn't stop scooping up spoonfuls. I was going to say this is the best Chinese restaurant in Eugene, but it just might be the best restaurant in Eugene, period. I have been coming here for years, ever since it first opened as Legend of Sichuan. The quality of ingredients and attention to detail is amazing. Everything is made in-house, right down to the soy sauce. Favorite dishes include the spare ribs dry pot and jajang noodles, but you can't go wrong with any item on the menu. Any noodle or dumpling dish will be to die for. The service is great (你好 帅 哥!) and the decor is clean and modern. So glad they opened the new spot on 5th Street! We visited the Willamette location before and loved the food, but it was a smaller space, so you really had to get there before the rush. The food is spectacular!! We had the Dry stir-fried Green Beans, Orange Chicken, Won Ton in Broth, XiaoLong Bao steamed Tomato and egg noodles and the pork and shrimp dumplings steamed. The flavors were perfect and no excessive saltiness. Service was great with just the one server on - was very attentive and patient as we made our order decisions. Food was OK, service not great, waiting experience horrible. By Eugene standards, slightly above average food. Surprised the ratings are as good as they are here, I think Eugene standards have set the bar super low, especially for non-western food. 3 stars is generous. The long bao soup dumplings are pretty good, everything else is mid to not good. FYI, the Yelp waitlist function is not actually used by the restaurant even though it is offered on its Yelp page, so if you're counting on that feature so you can make a Hult Center event without feeling rushed, you will be out of luck. Rather, you write your name on a notebook when you arrive and stand crowded in the entrance of what is a really sucky waiting area. No drink service etc., they took 3 groups that got there after us, before us. Dirty towels on bar and bussing areas, not very friendly overall. Won't be back. read more

One of the best Chinese meals I have ever had, and I've had Chinese food in San Francisco, New York, and Los Angeles. The vegetable plate was a work of culinary genius- a perfect balance of ginger, garlic, heat, and umami. The greens and mushrooms were cooked perfectly. I will eat this any and every time I am in Eugene. The Kung Pao tofu was also excellent- not greasy, flavorful, the tofu cooked perfectly. But oh that vegetable plate- it will live on in my dreams. Got take out here and it was really good! We ordered pork soup dumplings and pork fried rice. The soup dumplings had a ton of flavor and were super juicy. I can imagine they would be better dining in. The rice was very flavorful, I normally need to add soy sauce but theirs was perfect. Instead of the red pork you typically see at other restaurants, they had chunks of it like chicken. Not bad, just a little different. Would recommend! This is the second time we've been to Jade's. The first time we tried Jade Dumplings was during UO orientation week. The food was great but the service a little lacking. Nevertheless, the food was good enough that we gave it another shot. The food was pretty good but the service was beyond horrible. We waited for water for at least 20 minutes. The waiter was a little rude when he took the order. The dishes were sort of thrown when they served the food. Our waters were never refilled. The staff aside from the hostess were all ridiculously rude. Service matters more than food for me. I value people in the Service industry so I always leave a good tip. I haven't left a zero tip in a long while, but this was much deserved. If you treat customers like trash, expect to lose a good customer. read more

He was, without a doubt, the RUDEST server I've ever encountered! And here's the worst part: he only treats Chinese customers poorly! To the server: If speaking Chinese makes you feel like you're losing your "imagined" identity, then by all means, stick to English! I don't mind to speak with your broken English. This restaurant went to my top four or five places to eat out a asolutely the best for Chinese food...so far. Generally Chinese food (and Mexican food) here in the valley is abyssmal. I moved here over 25 years ago from San Francisco and have missed really good Chinese food which, everyone knows, is so interesting and varied; and I REALLY missed dim sum, which I fell in love with at the famous Yank Sing restaurant (https://yanksing.com/menu/) years ago. I am also anxious to try the Bao Bao House in Eugene for their dim sum, which place has been recommended by a friend and gets high marks on Yelp. I somehow caught the name of Jade on the local internet and stopped in on the Willamette location early on a Wednesday. Needless to say I ordered dim sum and I was not disappointed at all. Both our dishes were delightful, arrived hot and was pleasant to look at. Service was fine. The only thing I would ask for is a more expanded menu. The offerings are a bit limited. Also it would be nice to be able to order a rice dish other than steamed white rice to go with an order of dim sum or dumplings. Finally, no Coors or Bud?? Heavens! I have not yet been to the restaurant on 5th yet but I will be there soon enough. Jade is a much needed and welcome addition to the Chinese food possibilities in Springfield/Eugene. read more

Stopped by here for dinner. Outside exterior very unassuming but inside is nice and clean. Service was very friendly, we ordered a bunch of dishes and the food came out fast. We had the pork fried rice, sweet and sour pork, honey walnut prawns, the pork XLB, veggie dumplings and for appetizers we ordered the spicy and sour cucumber and the Mr.and Mrs. Smith. The Mr. and Mrs. Smith is a cold dish with sliced beef that had a chili sauce with garlic and cilantro. Waitress told us that it was using a different cut of beef than the beef shank that we are used to. We were gamed to try. The sliced beef was very tender and it tasted pretty good, personally a bit more sugar and garlic to balance it out as it was a tad bit salty. The XLB was so yummy and soupy, it was very good. The rest of dishes were tasty as well. The honey walnut prawn was drenched in mayo. If I known it was like that, we would've asked to scale back on that. Overall, a great place for a meal don't miss the XLB. read more
