Visiting my sister in Millburn, we tried take out from this place. My quick impression based on what we ate tonight is that this is a perfectly reasonable local restaurant, but there wasn't anything that jumped out at me as special. House Special Wonton Soup - Good flavor, nice assortment of vegetables. The wontons have a rather thick noodle so I found them to be a little imbalanced (too much noodle, not enough meat.) Fish with Ginger & Scallions - This was the best dish we ordered. Lightly fried fish with tons of aromatics. Mixed Vegetables in White Sauce - It's not exciting, but sometimes you want a dish with lots of vegetables. This really fit the bill. Assorted vegetables, all cooked just right so that they're cooked but not mushy, and a light sauce that adds flavor without covering up the natural taste of the veg. Sesame Chicken - Thin slices of chicken in a much lighter batter than most other preparations I've had. This was pretty good. Pepper Pork Loin - When putting together this order, I wanted to make sure I got something with some heat, so I perused the menu for one of their spicy items and settled on this. Wow, was I disappointed. Not even a trace of spiciness. Was there supposed to be a sauce on this that they forgot? Battered and fried pieces of pork with onions and some other aromatics, but zero heat and not much flavor either. Seriously, there was no hint of pepper, so maybe they did forget the sauce? Roast Pork Lo Mein - Nice preparation. Not oily, the right ratio of pork to noodles. Solid. Beef Chow Fun - Another good noodle dish. So overall, it was a good experience. Mostly solid dishes, with one above average and one that was a huge miss. Good enough to try again, certainly, although not an immediate favorite. read more

I went with a friend who ordered beef lo mein and said the same about hers. The service wasn't very good either, and our food took forever to come. I've ordered from them many times. And it's never the fastest delivery, but it's now gotten to the point where it's 1.5 hrs and I'm in the same town. I order from the next town over at another restaurant and they get here in 30 mins. No one ever eats in there. It's all take out or delivery so you would think they'd hire more delivery people and beef it up. But they're prob too cheap like most Chinese restaurants. DO NOT eat here. We ordered takeout from this restaurant recently and the moo shu pork. It was made with ROTTEN MEAT. My husband had to eat only rice for dinner. I put it in the fridge with the receipt. I returned to the restaurant with it 48 hours later and the manager told me it was too late for a refund and I should have brought it back that night. She asked how could she tell if it was rotten or did I just want a refund for nothing? They will never get my business again. I have been ordering from jade lake for months and I was so happy to find a new Chinese spot when I moved to Summit. The food has been very good on some days and just OK other days but the good days outweigh the bad. However last night I placed an order they told me 45 minutes after an hour and 20 minutes I called and asked if they had an estimated time and they said that the food had already been delivered. I usually pay with my card beforehand and add tip so I get a call to my phone when the order has been dropped off. I never got a knock at my door, the doorbell didn't ring, and I had no missed calls. When I called to have the order refunded as it had been sitting outside for God knows how long, was cold, and there were bugs crawling on it-I was told that there was nothing they could do. I followed up today to make sure they would do right by a customer who orders every other week from them and was told the same, that they wouldn't make it right. . They lost a consistent and well tipping customer over $30. I would not recommend them at all. read more

We go to Jade Lake on occasion and have always found it to be a good place to eat. Mostly families tend to go with their kids. So, it's not really a 'date' place. The appetizers are interesting and tasty. We had the dumplings pan fried. Terrific. And for the dinner we had their peking duck. As we always order the whole duck, we don't order anything else. It's enough for about 8 pancakes. The pancakes are chock full of duck meat and crispy skin. It's a BYOB so it saves on the cost. I definitely recommend it. read more

An Americanize Chinese restaurant. Menu entirely English with spelling mistakes, and the table set without chopsticks. Very much geared toward a lunch crowd since there are plenty of professional offices that surround the restaurant. They can bring out plates of fried rice, or simple noodles in under 5 minutes. When I ordered, it appear there were many menu items with Shrimp so we ordered the Roasted Garilc(sic) Prawns. We also ordered the dumpling appetizers, and the sizzling beef. True to form, the shrimp was decent. The vegetables served for both of the prawns and the beef were nearly identical, most likely a cost savings. The beef didn't come out as well. Colorless and bland. It didn't have any sear. The appetizers were definitely frozen supermarket store bought, and steamed on premise. read more

This is our regular Chinese place. Plenty of seating and attentive waitstaff. Fresh food, never greasy and lots of unusual specials. The steamed dumplings are amazing! We have gotten the big round table for special occasions like a graduation dinner for family. It is BYOB. Your bill will be a buck or two higher per dish than typical Chinese take-out, but the food quality far outweighs the price differential. Over the years I think we have eaten almost the entire menu.
