Had a wonderful lunch. Loved the five grain bread toasted. My friend had a crisp fresh Brie salad. Put Jake's Place on your go to list!

What a lucky find!…read more PROS: - Location was easy to find, in a strip mall off of a main road - The ambiance is garden/earthy and warm, with a true Mediterranean feel throughout - The staff is warm and helpful, greeted me upon entry and exit. My amazing server Simone helped answer questions about my lunch selection - Great selection of items on the lunch menu (they have Happy Hour y'all!) - My meal was brought out quickly - Food was very tasty and very well portioned... generously-sized CONS: - Only one... pricing. My salad with a protein was $35. In my opinion the one con in this case did not outweigh the many pros. This is a spot I will happily go back to one day when I'm back in the area. And I'll keep you posted if I do!

Perhaps working in Spain for two years ruined my take on tapas but this isn't really close. When we entered we were super impressed by the space. The replica of the Guernica on one side was super cool. I saw it as a kid in New York and a few years back at the Reina Sofía. But I digress... We ordered the tortilla española, croquettes, gypsy bread and mussels. First concern was the huge size portions. Crap, we're in America. The tortilla dish was like a potato frittata - a mouthful of flavorless mass. The croquettes, we asked for the fish but got spinach, were somehow even worse. A super thin bread coating and mushy interior. Gypsy bread - ugh, like a flat bread gone wrong. And the mussels instead of a pleasant garlic sauce were drown in a concoction with traces of tomato but lacking an identity. OK, we'll recover in dessert. They're out of the Key Lime so let's try this Phyllo thing. Imaging a sponge with chunks of orange on it. Bleh. I understand how hard it is to run a restaurant and I hate writing bad reviews. This place needs a major food upgrade and someone who knows how to make a croquette.

You will just have to reload more funds that much quicker. Overall worth it with a vast selection of wines to choose from. FOOD Features an a la carte menu with a great variety of small to large bites. We ordered the Pepper-Bacon Wrapped Dates, Lobster and Short Rib Veranda Sliders and the Wild Mushroom Flatbread. We were happy with our selections, the quality of the food and presentation. THE VERANDA The wine veranda and restaurant seating occupies the second floor of the building. An indoor second floor dining room spans the length of the building with open air veranda seating at the extremities of the building. Overall Rating: 3.9 Atmosphere: 4.5 | Service: 4.0 | Food:…read more4.2 | Cocktails: 4.2 | Price Per Bite: 3.2 ($460 group of 4) Ember & Oak Steakhouse has a lot going for it, but my experience with the Prime Rib didn't quite meet expectations--especially at the $80 price point. The fatty portion of my Prime Rib was excessive. I get that ribeye-style cuts derive flavor from fat, but this was to the point where it overwhelmed the dish and left me wishing I had ordered the lower-cost ribeye instead. On top of that, it came out medium instead of medium-rare, which didn't help. That said, others at the table ordered the NY Strip and Ribeye, and both looked excellent--cooked properly and more in line with what I'd expect from a steakhouse at this level. Highlights of the meal: Brazilian sliders were fantastic--definitely a must-order appetizer Oxtail stroganoff was rich and well executed Mac & cheese was a solid side Cocktails were creative and well made Overall, I've had better steaks at lower price points, but also worse ones at higher-end spots. Based on what I saw from other dishes, I'd absolutely give Ember & Oak another shot--just not with the Prime Rib next time.

We had a reservation and were seated as soon as we walked in. The actual restaurant was very clean and had a nice vibe to it! The seating was comfortable and spacious. Our server was a male (I forget his name) but he was great! He was very friendly, informative of the menu, and also attentive! Service can make or break your experience so I am glad we had a great server! My boyfriend said he had the best lemonade he has ever had. Our food was incredible. Everything tasted so fresh! We got a mixture of a bunch of things. I shared the steak and they were able to cut it in half and cook it at two different temperatures. The steak and mac n cheese were soo delicious!! Our server was kind enough to bring out a birthday dessert and package our food up for us! I knew the prices before walking in here, so I knew exactly what to expect. Most of the reviews say it's too expensive. It was "expensive" but the prices seemed VERY reasonable for the quality of food and the amount given. Overall, I had a great experience and I will definitely be back!

The owner, Chris C, reached out to me multiple times to make up for my bad experience. I want to make sure that folks that try out Umami know that the owner is conscientious about making sure that you have a great experience at the restaurant. I travel a lot for work and I don't often check my personal email, but I did find out that he eventually gave me a full refund for my meal. It wasn't expected and it did definitely go a long way in making me feel better about the customer service. I think that on any given night any given, RestAurant can have a bad night or have a slip up. Everyone there was having a great time and enjoying their food. I say give them a chance. I'm not from the area so I can't go back any time soon. I suggest you go give them a try and then give them a great write up if you feel like you had a great experience! Chris C... thank you for the follow up! Wishing you much success!

I ordered the 2 roll lunch special and was hoping for some good tuna rolls. The miso soup and ginger dressing on the salad was well above average. Then the rolls came. The spicy tuna roll had so many flakes on it I could barely find the roll but the tuna has a good heat to it. The tuna crunch roll was good but the tuna didn't taste the freshest. Maybe it was just the piece I got but as someone who's main protein is tuna, this was a bummer. Overall, I would recommend giving this place a try as the food is good and the staff were helpful.

We also shared Bread Pudding with a salted caramel sauce and gelato for dessert and it was incredible. Everything was well prepared and flavorful. These are smaller portions and just enough for the three of us. Service was really good and professional more like what you would expect at finer dining restaurants. The outside patio was nice as there was a breeze and each table had fly prevention fans on the tabletop which was excellent. They have a decent sized menu and they do offer some larger entrees to share which we will have to return to experience. This is a definite recommend and a place we will return to. Beautiful area that this restaurant is located in within the Lake Nona Med Center. Outside the restaurant in the courtyard there were several vendors set up selling things for Mother's Day. This itself was a beautiful area to spend time in. Free parking via garage.

After a long day of preparation for Easter for 3 daughters we needed a moment for us, before the next days celebration. We had the back room to ourselves and it was just perfect.
