OK this is strictly for the barbecue only only we went in at the barbecue it was not good The ribs were very tough the tritep was tough the chicken was OK but the sides were horrible all of them the beans tasted like they had dishwater in them Burnham the potato salad and coleslaw were terrible and the macaroni and cheese they substituted the beans for were just mediocre is mediocre We saw a lot of people eating breakfast and that we didn't try and I regret it I will give this place one chance for breakfast but other than that if it's for barbecue I say pass The service was good the portions were good but who wants big portions if it's not tasting good Well next time we'll try breakfast see how it is that to me just looking at other people's plates look good read more

Finally decided to walk in and try this place out. The whole decor and license plates on the wall give the establishment a good look. They say me down right away, a group of 3 of course. Server came right away and took our order. I order the bbq combo with coleslaw and Mac and cheese. The food was delicious overalls. I saw on another review that the muffin wasn't that great but I tried it myself and was delicious. Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the coleslaw..... but that's just me. Definitely a Staple here in Monrovia! Been coming here for years and it never fails. Service is great, food is hot and delicious. Parking might be a hassle on the streets but there's additional parking around the corner. If you are new in the area or just passing by and hungry you should def check this place out. read more

Tried Jake's for the first time last Saturday. Nice appearing decorations and very clean. Servers were attentive and quick. My sister was with me and we both ordered the BBQ salad with tri-tip. I asked for the dressing to be served on the side. My sisters salad was served with the dressing mixed in and BBQ sauce drizzled over the sliced meat. Nice presentation. My salad was served as I asked but was missing the BBQ sauce. When I questioned the server she said that's how they do it when the dressing is requested to be served on the side. Weird. She brought me a little dish of the BBQ sauce. Now here's the kicker, my sister's salad had sliced onions and bell peppers. Mines didn't. Same salad for both of us. So again I questioned the server- she didn't have an answer but did adjust the check by giving us a 15% discount. Dropped into this place last week for some BBQ. I hadn't eaten indoors here but only had take out in the past. We ordered their special of 1/2 rack (7) baby back ribs, 1 side and a corn bread muffin. Their special was only $15. I believe it's available M-Th in the evening hours. The food was very good. One order had the cols slaw while the other was mac and cheese. Both sides were plentiful. Always a great place to bring the family for some great food. Jakes Roadhouse never disappoint me when I'm in the mood for a big feast lol. I really enjoyed their beer batter zucchini they have one of the best that I have tried. A lot of people go for their famous breakfast menu I haven't had the pleasure to try it but it does look good. Came here on a Friday and was sat right away. The place is not small and the decor is vintage and very family friendly. I ordered the full rack of baby back ribs and the waitress knew we were going to split it and without asking they had cut and served us each dish. They were quick with refilling our drinks without asking. The baby back ribs had a lot meat. The coleslaw was really good, perfect amount of mayo it's not too soggy like some places. The Mac and cheese was really good the cheese is not lumpy and dry. My only let down is they don't have honey bbq just normal and spicy bbq. I will be returning and recommending ! We were craving barbeque, and this was just okay. Pros: Ribs were really big. Portions were big. The smoked Polish sausage was bomb. Tri-tip was juicy and tender. Mac and cheese sauce was a perfect flavor and very comforting. Cons: Ribs (beef, spare, and baby back) were a bit tough and gristly. The smoked flavor of the ribs wasn't very deep - maybe they weren't cooked low and slow. Meats were smothered in quite a lot of barbeque sauce. Coleslaw was really heavy on the mayo, and the cornbread was actually a blueberry muffin that was floury and too sweet. Definitely call to order, prices will be cheaper than grubhub etc. And you can order more a-la-carte options, for example we added a half rack of ribs. Probably saved 15% on the subtotal by calling in. read more

I would definitely come back here. I live in Upland and I drove all the way to Monrovia and it was worth the drive . The serving of food is worth the price large portions, and they were very quick with the food. They had the sports channel on loved that I could watch the soccer game . The decorations are road signs and cool for photo ops. The food was delicious. It's a casual place you can tell locals go here they knew alot of people on first name basis . Stopped for a good burger and I got a GREAT burger. The personnel was courteous, professional . Our server was very attentive and checked on us to make sure we were content. We got refills promptly. Pretty good food and service for both breakfast and barbecue. Breakfast is about fifteen to twenty percent higher than comparable restaurants. Finally tried Jake's for lunch. I ordered the bbq chicken sandwich for take-out and was very happy with it. You get a lot of flavorful, shredded bbq chicken on a soft pretzel like roll. The portion of chicken you get could make 2 decent sized sandwiches so that was great. The chicken was moist and was steaming hot when I got to it so that was another plus. Their bbq sauce is good and smoky but with a little bit of a kick to it. I was prettt satisfied with this order. The fries were ok. I prefer a more crispy order od fries and some were a little soggy. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu and finally dining-in. I need to try their ribs.... Service was friendly. Decor inside the restaurant is Route 66 cool for sure. read more

My fiancé has ordered from Jake's twice before and he's really enjoyed their bbq, so we didn't think twice about ordering steaks for dinner from there for my half birthday last night. What could go wrong when their bbq is so right? Well... how about everything. We ate sadness for dinner thanks to Jake's and now I don't think I can even muster up the courage to try their bbq. Major sad girl hours. Anyways... our order was two ribeye dinners with side caesar salads and mixed vegetables and mac and cheese. The ribeyes LOOKED great. But one bite in and there was absolutely no flavor. Like, none. It's as though these ribeyes were seasoned with air and hope and not a damn thing more. Not even salt. I can now safely say I know what 'nothing' tastes like, because it tastes like the ribeyes at Jake's. Now onto the caesar salad. You know, that famous salad with lettuce, parmesan cheese, croutons, and caesar dressing. Yeah. We got little lettuce ribbons with MOUNDS of tomatoes (WHY?!) and a few broken up shards of what I'm assuming are croutons. This was no caesar salad, just because they also threw a cup of caesar dressing on the side. All in all, pretty freaking disappointing. But I guess I can now speak on what nothing tastes like?
