We saw the wonderful reviews and were excited to try the place and LOVE to support small business. Unfortunately, we did get the same experience most people have had for some reason. The place was crowded with no social distancing practices in place at all. During the middle of our order, the lady taking our order took a phone call without excusing herself(yes, in the middle of our order). This was not us ordering from the phone but face to face. Let start off with don't judge a book by its cover. It was recommended and at first didn't know what to think about the place upon arriving. It was hard to find parking on a very small parking lot on a Friday night. But was well worth the stop, I felt like I was eating food at my moms house. Pure authentic Mexican tacos with authentic Mexican style rice and beans. The staff is polite, the establishment is clean but the location is to were they only have 5-6 parking spots in the front with other space on the side that belong to other businesses. The inside is very small so your lucky if you find seating especially on a weekend. It is totally worth the risk though. It is home made food and they are quick on your order. I was searching for a torta. They have many meats to choose from and other choices. I like Carne Asada so I ordered a single meat torta with Carne Asada. It normally has beans so I had them hold the beans. In all my life I have had one torta better than this one, and that is located over 300 miles away. This business is only held back by their location. There is not a lot of room in the dining area, maybe 5 booths, and three tables. The place is clean and kept up. This place is awesome! So glad we discovered this family owned "hole in the wall! " It's the first authentic Mexican place we've found since moving from Southern California. I've been there 3 times in the last month. The tortas are excellent, I've had the carne asada torta twice, make sure you get double meat though. The burritos and street tacos are also great. I really love this taqueria. I think its a mom and pop shop. In any case, I come here almost every morning to get me a breakfast taco or burrito, depending on the mood that I am in. The place is very small and can get crap very fast when people are waiting or sitting eating in. After searching online for a good authentic taco place I read the reviews for Jalapeno Taqueria and was really excited to try them. I pulled up into their parking lot at 7:30 with their open sign lit & their hours stating open until 8. As I stepped onto the sidewalk in front of their door they locked me out! No explanation. No "I'm sorry but we have to close early today due to [insert literally ANY reason here], but please do come back another time." No decent human courtesy. This is probably as authentic as you can get in Keller. Jalapenos offers those hard to get (unless you're in a densely poplulated hispanic area) speciality items such as al pastor, lengua (cow tongue), and menudo. They also do not use any cheddar cheese that just screams tex-mex and stick to white cheeses such as queso fresco. Their rice and beans are completely made from scratch which is evident from the look and especially the taste. For me, a mexican restuarant is not authentic unless they offer lengua. This specialty item (so close to home) is what keeps me coming back to Jalapeno's. Their lengua is always very tender and moist and their fresh corn tortillas tacos are served with the traditional toppings of onions, cilantro, and queso fresco with several salsas to choose from along with lime wedges! They also offer mexican bottled sodas which makes the visit feel more like home to me. I am not too impressed by their horchata and menudo though, which is quite a bummer since those could really make a huge difference in my mind. Horchata is not something I come across very often in suburbia. Jalapeno's is also kinda pricey for it being such a dive. read more

I stopped at this place to sample their offerings a couple of weeks ago, based on the reviews I had read from other Yelpers, and I have to say I was a little disappointed. I wasn't terribly hungry at the time so I only got three flour tacos, and found they left a little to be desired. First, they were very soggy. When I picked up the first one I was shocked to see how much water came running out of it and how soggy the tortilla was. I, also, decided to try one of the tacos before adding any salsa, hot sauce etc, to get a taste for their preparation, and found it fairly bland. The other two tacos were just as soggy as the first, but I spiced them up with a little hot sauce and they were okay. Because I have read enough positive reviews from others I will give this place another shot and update this review accordingly. I really do hope I find that this experience is a fluke. read more

I read all the great reviews and wanted to give this place a shot. When we walked in, it was a little bit disorganized and the woman who took our order was not the friendliest. First thing I noticed was a baby stroller and walker and diaper bag on top of the chairs and table on the side of us which just looked very unprofessional as a restaurant. It belongs to the woman who was serving us. Nothing personal towards the chef or his family, but if you are running a business, keeping it clear so it gives more seat options for such a tiny location. Also the loud rap music was a super big distraction as we were trying to eat with our family on the table. I can only say the tacos were good and the chef who cooked them, but they also didn't serve good portions for sides and it was very small portions which I was surprised because usually Mexican spots will serve a pretty good sized portion. Also I'm Mexican so it was just a culture shock for me. I was still hungry after I ate being that we had such small portion size that I went and asked for chips and guacamole. They ran out of guacamole, but gave me the packets of salsa which is also weird. I'm trying to understand why they don't have salsa served in a bowl but El Pollo Loco type of feel packets with the salsa. I mean the salsa was delicious but that was confusing. Anyways, my hats to the Chef for his kindness, he gave me free chips and explained as they were closing that his daughter was picking up guacamole. Worst menudo ever! I eat menudo all over the DFW and this, my friends, is not good. So my bad service began after I ordered. One of my friends always orders mostly hominy which is usually obliged by places all over. It took 45 minutes to get my order. When I walked in there were only 3 tables occupied. One by one I saw people walk in, order, and receive their orders and two of those tables even paid and left. I ordered 3 menudos and 3 tacos to go. I even sat out in the car and went back in to wait. At about 40 minutes, a young guy started to put my menudo in styrofoam cups. I mentioned to him that one was mostly hominy and he flat out said "no we can't do that!" What service! Okay? I'll just do it at home, I thought, and I did. I heard the boy's father tell him from behind, "some places make a separate batch of hominy and that's why they do it" but he is wrong. Most places I go to, take the time to make their customers happy by going out of their way! Usually I hear, oh yes that's how I like my menudo. The menudo tasted like it was added water at the last minute to make more. Not a good taste. Very bland. No one at my sisters liked it. I liked the tacos but won't go there again. read more

My boyfriend and I come here to this family owned restaurant very often! It's small so if you have a party maybe take your food to go. They always have a great telenovela on tv to watch. Love this small taqueria, they have menudo on the weekends that is always delicious. I've had every meat taco on the menu and never leave disappointed. My husband always gets their chorizo plate.
