It is rare these days where you find a place that can make everyone happy with their order. Well this place is one of them. Located in Ellicott City, JAM occupies the old Eggspectation building. The layout is pretty much the same but the food is 100 times better. We ordered a breakfast quesadilla, cinnamon roll French toast, a big breakfast sandwich, and chicken and waffles. No one had anything negative to say about their food. It was all amazing. I cannot forget to mention that they also have adult beverages as well! The mimosa flight was good (the island one with the rum in it was the best) and they make a MEAN Old Fashioned. If you like bourbon, get this drink. As this trip was focused on breakfast items, I cannot wait to get back to try some of their lunch offerings. They also have a glass case as soon as you walk in filled with cakes, pies and muffins. Recovering from an eventful weekend we headed here for a quick brunch. I ordered the vegan hash added a poached egg and crab meat. I've been here twice now and enjoyed it a lot! I will probably return regularly. It is very busy on Saturday mornings, but if you are visiting with just 1 other person you can sit at the rail by the kitchen without a wait. Which is actually nice because you can hear the person next to you better than across a table, and it's very loud in there so I think this is a plus. I had the chicken and waffles and an island mimosa the first time, and the second I had a bacon bloody Mary and ranchero omelette. I thought everything was tasty, though the chicken and waffles was a little basic so I'm not sure i would get it again. They have an extensive menu and tons of things look good - sitting at the rail I saw lots of food being prepared, so I have ideas for next time! Went to celebrate my birthday with a friend. The mimosa flight was good. Allowed me to sample the ones they had. I had French toast and it was amazing. I did not like the pork sausage. Came here on a weekend my sister just flew in and wanted brunch since we were in the area I figured why not take her here Upon arrival we were quickly shown to our seats firstly we were placed in a literal corner with no AC no music ambiance was kinda lack luster We waited at least 30 mins still no water no one came by my sister had to tell the hosts that no one has been by every-time a server walked by they just peeped in the room and left didn't ask if we were helped or anything. Jam's is the old Eggspectation in Ellicott City and the ambience is still the same. You're greeted immediately when you walk in , music is at the right level that you can still hear each other, greeter is friendly and if it's a weekday you may even get seated fast. My waiter was really nice brought water to the table as soon as I sat down, offered me the menu and even recommended mimosa flight (I guess I looked like I needed a drink) I wasn't disappointed though! The options are passion fruit, pineapple, cranberry and a combo that I'm forgetting the name at this moment(chalk it up to old age or a strong drink ). Each was delicious-I would definitely do again! I ordered the corned beef hash- now what I wanted versus what I received is different. They have changed the corned beef to real brisket but it was really fatty and not really something I would have as a breakfast item. The consistency messed up the potatoes and wasn't right. I asked for some salsa to attempt to doctor it up but it just wasn't what I expected. They also don't offer any toast (I'm a bread lover) so that also was a negative to me. My waiter noticed my discomfort and sent the manager over. He was really nice and offered to make me something else but I told him no because that was my choice to order that so I can't really blame them but I would t order that again. Jam now offers waitlist options. It was perfect! My family decided let's go to breakfast. I added my name to the waitlist online. We all got dressed and got ourselves together. By the time our family of four put clothes on and drove to the restaurant we received a text that said our table was ready and check in within 5 minutes to claim of seats. Ended up coming here two times within the same amount of days. First time, I came with a group of 10 for a casual informal business brunch. They do not take reservations so make sure to arrive early if you have a large party. Although very busy, they were able to see us in a decent amount of time. As I waited I sat at the bar and I was taken care of as I glanced over their menu. I was impressed to see they had rooibos tea! It was a little awkward approaching the bar because it seemed most of the staff behind it did not speak English. I noticed the chair I wanted to sit in was dirty so asked multiple times for a napkin to clean off my seat. The staff just looked at me and no one acknowledged me. I repeated my request louder multiple times thinking to myself how do I ask for it in Spanish and then a gentleman gave me a napkin. He also then proceeded to clean off the bar from whomever was seated their prior. When I came back the next morning, I asked the staff behind the bar if the seats at the end were free because we couldn't see if there were actual seats on the side sorry that's away from the door and no one responded. Luckily there was a handsome gentleman sitting at the bar who spoke Spanish and translated then informed us there were actual seats down there. When the rest of my party arrived the first day, we were seated and we all ordered an array of dishes. They came out pretty fast and it was evident they had been big batch prepared. I can understand with this being a breakfast place but at least the food should still be hot. Some dishes came out luke warm and I had to convince myself to eat it anyway. I wasn't a fan of their corned beef hash and wished it had been prepared a little crispier. I do love they make it themselves but if I ever order it again, I will definitely ask for it to be crispier or cooked hard. Our server was was attentive and immediately took it back. There were no complaints at the table and everyone enjoyed their dishes from shrimp and grits to the churro waffles. As you already know, I came back the next day with friends to try some of their extensive drink menu. I love all the options and will be back again soon to try even more. One caveat was their actual dishes. On both visits, I received dirty cups, glasses and mugs. By dirty I mean lip print on the glass and food or some type of specs inside the mugs. When I informed the bartender about my mug, he immediately took it back and brung out s clean one. I received the lip printed glass when I was finally sat on my table and decided just not to use it. On my second visit, my server took them back and brought clean ones. Jam Eatery almost has it perfect. A little more attention to detail and they will be at the top of my list for brunch spots. read more

Today, I visited JAM Eateries for the very first time. A friend and I decided to go someplace new, somewhere neither of us had visited before. Upon entering the establishment, we were greeting with warm smiles and seated immediately. Lucy was our professional, helpful, and attentive server. We received 3 different menus and thankfully, Lucy was very accommodating by allowing us adequate time to decide, as the options were plentiful and ALL seemed scrumptious merely based on their descriptions. The establishment felt very comfortable, warm, and inviting. The menu includes food options for the meat lovers and vegans as well as everyone in between. My friend ordered the pineapple upside down pancakes with a side of bacon. I ordered the braised beef omelet with Havarti cheese and half a waffle. We received our items hot and quickly. Visited Jam for the first time in December 2023 and greatly enjoyed! Should have known from the full parking lot that the experience would be a good one, and it was! I chose the Maryland crab omelette with fresh fruit on the side, an Immune Boost juice (orange, lemon, and ginger), and a berry pancake. It was more than enough food; and everything was delicious. I am so glad we stumbled upon JAM while looking for a brunch spot to celebrate our anniversary. We saw a few different options and both of us found this one so we figured it was meant to be. There are no reservations however they do have an online waitlist system. You can put in your phone number and get in a queue which was decent. Upon arriving we noticed there was decent amount of parking and when we entered the building we noticed the size, pastry/cake display, how clean it was and the decor. It was so cute inside. Once we got the page our table was ready we were sat down fairly quickly. Our waitress was great and we noticed that they are making sure everything is clean and they are getting their next table sat. With there being said, not once did we ever feel rushed. The menu is extensive and I feel like there is at least something for everyone to enjoy. I decided to order the seasonal short rib omelette and it came with potatoes, and I also ordered a side of grits. My significant other ordered the croissant French toast with strawberries and cream, potatoes, grits and sausage. We both also go mimosas. Came here on a Saturday morning around 11; they do not take reservations but they do have a virtual waitlist that you can join! We drove 25 minutes, and I joined the waitlist in the car-- so we really only waited outside for a total of 5 minutes. The line kinda was out of the door, but there was plenty of chairs and benches to sit on outside. We were brought to our table and immediately got our drink orders taken. Orange juice, apple juice, and a coffee. The coffee was alright, not strong at all. The orange juice had light pulp. We both ordered the same thing, and it was very good! This was my first visit to this restaurant. Service was excellent. The serve came to our table seconds after we were seated. The menu had many items I thought I could enjoy. I ordered the Steak and Eggs off the lunch menu. When my plate arrived the food was warm not hot. I don't typically add ketchup on my potatoes if they are hot and seasoned with salt and pepper. I had to add ketchup because the cubed potatoes and onions were bland. The eggs were cooked perfectly but, again not hot. The steak was seasoned well but, not hot. The eatery is clean, bright and welcoming. I'll give them an A+ there. I will give them another try because our server was very nice. Let's hope they do a lot better on my second visit. read more

Came here at noon on a Wednesday and it was still fairly busy (although there was no wait for a table for 2 + a baby). The waiter was very polite and professional. I got the crab cake Benedict ($18) and it was delicious! It was crab cake (mediocre) on fried green tomatoes with a poached egg on top but overall flavor was fantastic. Even their potatoes (home fries) were really good. They have a decent size menu so I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to eat so I'll definitely be back to try out some other items on the menu (even though I'll probably get the same thing again. I've lived in the area for four years and didn't even know Jam Eateries existed until my daughter visited from out of town and wanted to try it today. We ordered online, and she picked it up. I opted for the toasted berry salad, which cost $13. Unfortunately, it should have been called a bowl of mini spinach trees. It was literally mostly spinach with very few berries--I think I spotted one or two "toasted almonds" and 3-4 tiny cubes of Havarti cheese. The dressing on the side was supposed to be warm bacon, but it wasn't warm (which I could deal with), yet when I tried to heat it up, it just coagulated. Some of the bacon pieces in the dressing even looked undercooked. I was thoroughly disappointed. My daughter suggested that maybe the food is better when dining in, but I believe that if a restaurant cares about their food, it should be just as good for takeout. I've had plenty of meals that were just as enjoyable at home as in the restaurant. This was not one of them. I ended up throwing the entire "salad" away.
