Hi! Do you sell fresh lobster meat by the pound for pickup, or is it only available as part of the rolls?

Hi! Yes we sell fresh lobster by the lb. Right now it is $65-70 per lb depending on what type of lobster meat you choose. We also have a full retail case of fresh fish, clams, mussels etc and all sizes of live lobsters!

Is there parking?

Yes we have a small lot behind our building along the wooden fence!

The second time I went back, I ordered take out so I could eat it at the airport for dinner. I ordered the Sake Maguro Hamachi don, added ikura and negitoro. Again, so impressed with the quality of the fish and the size of it. They didn't skimp out and really enjoyed the thickness of the sashimi despite it only being 3 pieces. It was a very satiating bowl. Cant wait to come back next time again!

During my time in Boston over the Fourth of July, I spotted James Hook & Company, a casual fish market/restaurant, multiple times. At first, I was skeptical because of its touristy exterior, but to my surprise, I discovered that they are known for providing lobster and other seafood to nearby restaurants in the north east. I also found it's lobster roll and chowder had received strong reviews. Intrigued, I made it my last stop at 11 am sharp before heading to the airport for my flight. I wound up ordering their large mayo-based lobster roll, along with a small clam chowder, to share with my friend. The lobster roll was indeed impressive, boasting a heaping amount of fresh lobster that was perfect to share. However, I personally felt it lacked a certain level of flavor, and I couldn't help but wonder if the butter version might have been more to my taste. On the other hand, the chowder was nothing short of fantastic, and I wholeheartedly recommend it. James Hook & Co is my go-to place! The lobster rolls here are incredible! They don't try to add in lettuce, tomato or celery to add to the flavor, it's simply just the roll filled with chunks and chunks or lobster. I visit James Hook occasionally with work colleagues but today I decided to spice it up a little bit by trying the lobster mac and cheese and boy was I impressed! The mac and cheese is covered in their amazing lobster bisque and has chunks of lobster meat throughout. I am eager to try it again soon. Also their clam chowder is a must! The portion is just right. It was served piping hot and was filled with clam and pieces of potato. The service was also second to none. I was served by an extremely friendly Irish girl who had the most amazing sparkly blue eyes! She was very helpful when myself and my friends were undecided about what to choose for lunch. She was also very informative about the large lobsters on display in the large tanks within the restaurant (which are a must-see even if you're not a seafood lover!). James Hook & Co is a MUST when visiting Boston!!! Myself and my family were visiting Boston for a few weeks from the UK and stopped by James Hook & Co a few days ago as it came highly recommended to us. My kids aren't seafood lovers but it was perfect as they also sell hotdogs and mac and cheese. The service was excellent and very efficient for the size of the order that we had placed. As we were sitting down enjoying our food a young lady who had not taken our order kindly asked if we needed anything else to eat or drink. As the restaurant was not busy at this time she kindly invited our children over to the giant lobster tanks in the restaurant and gave them the wonderful opportunity to hold the lobsters and pose for a photograph. This definitely made our experience and we have some wonderful pictures to remember this moment. Overall I would give my experience here 5 stars for the quality of the food and the excellent service provided by the friendly and obliging staff. We will definitely be paying another visit before returning to the UK! read more

My sister and I were visiting the area and wanted to try some good, decently priced lobster rolls... needless to say James Hook & Co did not disappoint! Food: I ordered a lobster roll and a lobster bisque, while my sister ordered a crab roll and clam chowder. Both were AMAZING. The lobster was fresh and perfectly seasoned (not too much mayo) layered on top of toasted, buttered bread. They give a generous amount of lobster in the roll! That was my first time ordering a lobster bisque and I liked it. Service: Great! They were friendly and the food came out really fast. A guy also let us take a picture with one of the live lobsters (its claws were bigger than my face). While we were eating, Gary made sure to ask if everything was good. Not a typical restaurant or even a restaurant at all, James Hook occupies a small portakabin near the waterfront and from the outside it don't look much. Even from the inside there isn't much - a shop deli counter with a few tables. However before you dismiss it as a place to eat, consider why it attracts crowds of locals and tourists alike every day? the answer is because it sells great seafood at great prices. It is famed for its lobster rolls either regular or larger size which are crammed with tender lobster meat with only the minimum of sauce (compare this to the tourist trap of Fanueil Hall where overpriced and uindersized lobster rolls consist of largely dressing with a sprinkling of lobster). grab a lobster roll sit outside in sun on one of a few trestle tables or take a short walk to the waterfront where park benches await and enjoy the taste of the sea. read more

The crab roll was absolutely delicious--definitely the highlight of the meal--but when you're paying $60 for a lobster roll, you expect a better overall experience. Unfortunately, the service felt more like what you'd get at a taco truck, with little attention or care from the staff. It's disappointing to spend that much and be treated like an afterthought. Yes, that lobster roll was out of this world. Not only super fresh, but big chunks of actual lobster meat in a super moist bread. The clam chowder was great but the lobster bisque was awesome. I'd say this small fish market - the north end of Boston - is definitely a MUST go. Even though with small tables to eat and nothing fancy, delivers the best seafood meat in Boston. I recall this area once I was a child and my parents would take me to see the giant lobster and fish tanks they'd. Undoubtedly excellent spot to bring children. Your going to pay more for seafood than your typical supermarket but only understand, it is the freshest seafood you will ever get besides fishing it yourself! In addition, in the event that you will need shellfish shucked or fish cut in a particular manner, they will do it for you, a real fishmonger. I loved this place! Walked here from the Marriott long wharf which is a 8 minute walk. I got the $20 large lobster roll, $17 regular roll, $7 lobster bisque. The $20 large roll is definitely worth it for the $3 premium. And there was SO much lobster. Much more than Luke's lobster and Alive & Kicking.
