Extremely disappointed. My truck's VIN was stolen after being displayed on this dealership's public website, and now I'm dealing with serious issues because of it. I can't even get my first registration sticker on the truck because of this. I reached out and spoke directly with the general manager, expecting some kind of assistance or accountability and got nothing. No concern, no follow-up, no help at all. What makes it worse is that a detective told me my truck wasn't the only one. This has happened to multiple customers from this same dealership. I drove over an hour just to buy my truck here, and now I'm left dealing with a security mess they won't take any responsibility for. I purchased a 2017 Jeep Wrangler JKU from Carlos at JW Chevrolet in Denton. This was by far the best car purchase I have ever had. I recently had my car totaled during the crazy hail storm and needed a new vehicle for my daily drive. I had gone to many dealerships throughout the metroplex and stumbled on the lot at James Wood of Denton. I had no idea what I wanted and never owned a Chevrolet. I was professionally greeted by Carlos, who immediately treated me as if I were his most valued customer. He helped me pick what type of vehicle I wanted and took me to the lot to show me the Jeep I chose in a golf cart. Carlos, being a wrangler owner, also shared with me the ins and outs of the car that I had just fallen in love with. This Jeep was a 2017 with only 35K miles on it and was priced well below what I thought I would need to pay. He patiently worked with my needs, I had kids that wanted to test the back seat, I had a wife out of town working and needed a couple of days to make sure she liked the Jeep. I was amazed at how well this dealership cared for our family and got us into the vehicle we needed. Where do I begin, Purchased a 2017 corvette some years back, my second a C7 Grand Sport, all the bells and whistles like the Z07 package. The car new was 90k plus new. I am the second owner and the car had only approx.13672 miles when I purchased it. I have had both my C6 and C7 serviced by Chevrolet dealers, Classic and James Wood. $150 dollars a pop for the Mobil One oil change. I have since stopped going to Classic based on the distance from my home. JW is also a drive, Now mind you I have always been a fair person and what is right is right and what is wrong is wrong... in this case I took the C7 for its service based on time between not milage as it still had 43% left on the oil life according to dashboard. I like to keep my cars super clean and serviced by the dealership. Dropped the car off Saturday morning at 8am approximately. Returned to pick up around 11 am after I was texted it was ready. As I was driving home, I could smell burnt oil in the cab of the car no big we just had an oil change and from my understanding its normal from the last time I received service at JW and inquired. Parked the car in the garage and was going to wash the car the very next morning. When I pulled the car onto the drive outside the garage, I noticed a 4X4 inch puddle of new oil... weird? that's never happened before? its Sunday and the dealership is closed. Waited till Monday morning approximately 720 Ish am and made the call. Spoke to the service manager "Doug" who stated that I should bring it back in as it could be oil left on the splash guard???? in all my years of owning cars I have had two incidents where one "they" (other service provider, not JW) didn't put the drain plug back correctly and the second, they did not seat the filter correctly, (other car makes I have owned) Why is there any oil residue anywhere?? that makes no sense. asked if it was safe to drive and he stated yes, bring it back in and we will get it situated. Regardless drove back to the dealership and dropped it off with Tim the service tech who received it, Doug was nowhere to be found. 40 minutes passed and I was called to the front by the cashier -?? not Doug nor the Service tech?? !! cashier said your good to go? - good to go? I asked, what happened to my car why was there oil on the ground two days in a row? just looked at me with a blank look and I asked where is Doug? he pointed to around the desk... I walked over and asked what happened ?? he stated there was some additional oil on the splash guard. Mind you it was new clean oil on the ground not old oil or blackened in my garage, he said I need to watch and as it could be from a valve cover or seeping ??@@!!!. WHAT !!! no oil leaks ever on this car!! No apology.... sorry you drove over an hour back on a workday.... Nothing, the car has 19974 miles on it, and I am being told to watch it??!!. after you serviced it and made no mention prior to or on the service contract there was a pre-existing oil leak .... no matter how minuet something should have been noted. Poor customer service and nothing in the realm of an apology or credit - I will watch the BRAND-NEW oil leak that I received from Jame Woods Cheverolet. and determine my next steps which will include never servicing my cars there again... buyer beware! read more

Let me just say, I will NEVER use James Wood Dealership in denton ever again!!! I took my truck in for "service air bag" light on my dash. First they told me I had to pay $800 for a new passenger airbag (that they did a recall on in Dec 2022). When I took the problem to a manager telling them I wasn't paying for a new part when they put a bad one in to begin with. He tells me that doesn't sound right that my new part has a 2 year warranty. He wants to run another diagnostic to make sure. Turns out, they diagnosed it wrong, it's now the airbag in my seat, but they are going to start with replacing the connector because airbags don't generally ever go bad. I go to pick up my truck yesterday, and my driver side Dash is completely cracked in multiple places. They try to argue with me saying they never even got in my Dash so they don't know how it got broken. They are also only offering me a $500 credit, for what is probably going to be a $1,500-$2,000 job. Umm. What?!?!?! How is that right? It wasn't broken when I dropped it off, and now you're telling me I have to pay for it? No, this should be fully covered by the dealership. They had nerve to tell me "this is a common problem with these dashes" as if trying to make light of the situation. NEVER AGAIN, will I trust James Wood to do any work on my truck.!!! I have witnesses who were in my vehicle before dropping it off to them that can verify this was not the way I gave it to the dealership. read more

WOW I am shocked. We have replaced, all 4 rotors, calibers, brake pads, master cylinder, Brake vacuum and brake boost and our Suburban still shakes the same way as it did prior. So we take it to the dealership and there is an $89 fee to inspect the vehicle. Couple hours later we get a call from the service advisor Edwin called to say it will be an additional $279 to check the rotors to see if they are warped, so $89 to inspect the vehicle was really just to drive it back to the shop. We told him that they are a week old and it is no different from now then prior to replacing and would he check the hub, knuckle and CV joint. He calls back 30-minutes later said it would be the same charge to diagnose the problem. Well if you are a certified mechanic and said it would be the same charge to diagnose the problem, I then asked what their hourly shop rate, he said it is $179 an hour. I would like to add that when we went to pick up the vehicle we asked for a manager and Robert Cook came over and listened to what we had to say about Edwin not listening or reading any of the information provided. He kind of chuckled in agreement without saying anything and said there will be no $89 fee or costs for you all today. So GREAT job listening and THANK YOU. read more

Buyer beware! I'm from Houston and found a truck I wanted to purchase at JW. I reached out to JW and was told to put a $500 deposit down to hold the truck. I was told that the truck was in excellent condition and I had the salesman send me pics. Going by pics the truck looked good and true to their word. I put the $500 down and after a few days drove the 300 miles up to JW in Denton with a bank draft in hand. Upon my arrival I began inspecting the vehicle and noticed that 3 of the 4 tires were original and 8 years old. 2 tires were almost bald and one was chewed up. I drove the truck and it drove horribly with excessive vibration presumable from needing 4 new tires. I now knew that this truck had not even been inspected by JW and simply listed for sale. The truck had the oil change sticker from the Ford dealership the previous owner took it to, the tires were a disaster, the truck drove horribly, the center console was cracked, and the battery terminals and bracket were corroded and rusted. How can you even sell a vehicle lawfully that is unsafe? Why didn't JW inspect the vehicle and replace the tires, vibration issues, patch up the cracked center console, remove the rust and corrosion from the battery, make sure it was safe, etc, before selling? I informed the salesman that I was never informed of these issues and would have to spend 1,500 plus for new tires as they were not safe to drive to Houston. I was very disappointed and upset that my salesman failed to tell me about these issues. I told the salesman that the dealership needed to replace all 4 tires so I could get home safely, or take additional money off the price of the truck and I would go straight to Discount Tire myself. The arrogant used car sales manager was very bothered by this and said he'd take off 500.00 but that was it. Like really? What a slap in the face. The managers response was "sorry no one told you about the issues." I asked the manager if he was really going to lose a sale over his failures, being the bad tires and not telling me of the problems beforehand, and he replied "Yep." Really?! After leaving JW to come back to Houston, the salesman called and said the manager offered to replace the chewed up tire but that was it. Another slap in the face. Buyer beware! read more

I wanted to add this response to my earlier post about the James Wood Autopark as I had a call from Mike White in response to my post and he reviewed everything that we discussed and did research my history and recent maintenance issues with my Chevy Malibu and he agreed with my assessment and went above and beyond to do " the right thing " here. After his review, he showed me something we call INTEGRITY and followed up and kept his word that he would do his best to get a reduction from the initial quote of $890 for repair and Mike not only got a reduction but cut the cost to me in half and the charge was only $445. My wife and I are both grateful and impressed that we found someone on this staff who still understands what loyalty and customer service mean. I give Mike White kudos and a shout out for doing the right thing in this case and also for having great INTEGRITY and keeping his word. This goes a long way in my industry and should in any vertical business as well. We appreciate Mikes attention to detail and following through with this to this customers satisfaction and restored faith in the business. We were interested in buying a truck listed on their website that is currently in transit. We went in told them we wanted the truck and might pay cash for it. They immediately came back with a $2,500 bumped up price of MSRP that was not for taxes or TT&L stating they had to charge us for not living here in Denton county. They said they cater to Denton County residents because they service their vehicles with them and are loyal to only them. They didn't ask but we service and buy all of our vehicles within Denton county. Did not want our business weather it was cash or finance because they never really asked. When I called her she informed me that she had forgotten today was her day off. Very unprofessional and thoughtless because I went there on my only day off this week. Very misleading and made me feel unimportant as a client. Rule of thumb, if I was mislead with a minor appt, chances are I'd be mislead with bigger information. read more

I've bought A LOT of cars, but this place was by far the easiest. I filled out the request info on the website, and Chase called me the next morning. I went into the dealership and within an hour drive away in a Black Corvette Stringray. Boy did they make it easy, of course I had everything they needed document wise. Mind you my credit wasn't great, however in lending, all it takes is a good finance team to get a deal done. My finance hero was Pedro. Man that guy is great, didn't push me on the extended warranty, the GAP the kinda stuff that most dealerships will push you to buy. He was straight forward and got me in and out in less than 10 minutes of signing the docs. Chase got the car all gassed up, and ready for me. Even showed me all the features of the vehicle. Got me both sets of keys and back on my way in less than 90 minutes. I challenge you to go to ANY dealership and make a purchase that you are happy with in that time frame. We have been taking our SUV here since 2015 for service since we bought it new. I hassle my wife for not taking the time to use the dealer for oil changes, when she prefers to stop into Kwik Car so something similar, because in my experience they've never cared for vehicle like the dealer. So we go to James Wood, pay the premium and wait the longer wait. I expect a better service than we got from this place on our last visit. After my wife had the oil changed here, I came home to find puddles of motor oil in the driveway and in the garage, under her car. There are no oil leaks on our vehicle and i initially though someone must have left the plug out or loose. But the filter is on and the plug in in place. Some of these new vehicle aren't built so the drain straight into a pan without getting all over the frame, cross member, etc. But someone was extremely careless or screwed up when they did this service, because the bottom of the car is dripping in oil All over the motor mount, bottom of the oil pan, core support, sway bar, etc. It is also dripping off the radiator/condenser and all over the inner fender aprons and air dam. It's a mess, and who ever performed the service had to be under the vehicle on a lift or in a pit, and there is NO way they cold have missed this mess they created. Yet they delivered it back to us this way. Half a$$ and I'm not happy. You go to the dealer, pay the premium cost and wait to get top tier, well trained technicians to get quality service and they make a mess and can't even be bothered to get some shop rags and B12 and wipe it down. I'm angry about because i have to get on the floor and clean everything up. Terrible quality and care for our vehicle. read more

Even this last time they scheduled me to come in September 5th at 8:30am. THE DAY THE WERE CLOSED!!! I drove an hour there before I even found out and I wasn't the only one. I've now been sitting here an hour and a half and they HAVEN'T EVEN TAKEN MY TRUCK BACK YET! Gonna be pretty hard to hit that 90 minute mark! I've tried to give the service department second and third chances to make it right and they just fail every single time. The first time I was there it was a 4 hour oil change even though I had an appointment. The second time I was there, I waited TWO hours for a simple state inspection (with an appointment again) , air in the tires and a wash. And they "couldn't" do the wash unless I waited another hour AND they never put air in the tires. THIRD visit? I have three factory recalls they need to fix on my '21 Z71 Tahoe. They told me when I made the appointment that they would need to keep it overnight & they would provide a loaner car. So I show up for my appointment two weeks later only for them to tell me they (Jared) didn't "really" reserve a loaner car for me and I'd have to come back tomorrow? The service department is dishonest and will try to do repairs that aren't needed. I brought my 2019 sierra to them because one of my brakes were wearing more than the rest. The sop that pointed it out to me does brakes. They were honest and said the problem I was having should be under warranty. The service department called me and said my truck needed pads and rotors all the way around. Over $1,300. Of course this isn't warranty. My truck has 28,000 miles in it and the brakes work perfectly and haven't even made a sound My thoughts we're why wouldn't the other shop have tried to sell me pads and rotors ? Took my truck to a brake specialist this morning and my pads are an 8 out of 10 Do not trust these people. Get another opinion , or better yet, take your vehicle somewhere else. Came up from Burleson to look at the 21 Blazer in the Cherry Red tint and Hot Red to see what color we'd like to purchase. Called ahead and talked to Cole and explained we'd like to look at the 2 cars side by side and he said he could do that. One was the Premier and had just come off dealer loaner status and had 6k miles. The other was the RS with only 2 miles. We asked if the loaner was reduced in price due to the miles and we're told he'd have to check. We decided to go with the new car and would rest drive it. As they were fueling the car Cole came back and said his manager said the car is now selling for $2k over list since there's a shortage. I'm sorry to have wasted Coles and the dealerships time. Hoped this place would be different but I'll continue my search for a reliable shop. *Update* Avoid at all cost for repairs. These people are some of the scummiest car dealers on Earth. I did a lot of research for a truck on Cars.com. These guys had an awesome deal. The only problem was I didn't have my money in my account yet. I call them up and ask how do I get them to hold the car for me? I'd be in in 2 days. They said "No problem, just pay a 500 deposit on the truck and you can come in and buy it." I gave them a CC# and they said I was all set and to come in and pick it up. I came in and looked around the lot...No truck. What the fuck? I go in and ask where my truck is? They said "oh it sold on Tuesday" THE DAY I GAVE THEM MY DEPOSIT!?!!? They said "oh we're sorry that never got processed" They pocketed my CC info and didn't apply a deposit. I threw a fit. They said if I paid them they would hold my truck. I didn't get a phone call or anything. Just a shitty drive to Denton. These guys showed no remorse for clearly lying to me. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Checked in at 7:45 on Monday when they open at 7am. My appointment was for 8:10am. Service advisor stated the oil change could take 1-1.5hrs. We decided to stay and wait since they didn't have any rentals available. Waited the first 25mins and the service advisor stated during the tire rotation they discovered the tires are wearing unevenly and I needed an alignment. I said go ahead and fix it since the truck has been maintenance at James woods since I purchased a year ago. Every time I've had my truck maintenance the standard maintenance usually takes 1-1.5hrs total and that's with a wash. I understand that adding an alignment added time to the maintenance. But sitting in your waiting room with no ETA for over 3hrs. And when I go up to your service advisors to get an update the available advisor looks up my name and goes oh your advisor is Tammy she is with a customer and I can wait for her to look up my vehicle. Then as she comes back in she was told I was looking for an update and she is with a different customer and told me as soon as she is finished she could find out what status of my vehicle is. Funny part there was two other advisors sitting there not helping anyone or not on the phone and I was basically sent back to sit and wait to find out. 20mins later my advisor came and said my truck is waiting at the wash and I responded I'll just take my truck then no wash. Terri explained she didn't know if it's in the wash or waiting since the mgr over there didn't pick up the phone. So it could be another 30mins till they are done. I explained my frustration to her that I've been waiting for almost 3.5hrs for an oil change and alignment with no one giving any updates. She advise next time to book ahead and get a rental so I didn't have to wait. That's a no brainier!!! I told her I tried but there was no vehicle available. She apologized but it seemed more of a generic apology instead of a sincere one. Instead she would make excuses to why it is taking extra long. I do not know how a company would make the customer wait with no updates and when they request updates are told to wait for only one service advisor instead of having the TEAM of service advisors help look up the updates to help the customer. I guess the service department isn't really about customer service and more about charging fees. I guess once you buy from them that's where the actual customer service ends. Checked in at 7:45AM they finally gave my truck back at 11:26. Even at the check out I was made to stand and wait as the cashier started to do my paperwork only to grab the phone and answer not just one customer call but hung up and answered another one before finally checking me out to pay. I bought a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee about 3 and a half weeks ago from Chase. He made it very easy and was honest about the whole thing. Even had me come back the next day to do a full detail on the car. The check engine light came on yesterday and I was so upset. I went in to talk to Chase today and he took care of it. Got me in a rental car for the weekend and got my car set up to get serviced. If you're in the business of buying a car right now at James Wood -- be sure it's with Chase. The car leasing process was great, until I brought it in to be serviced and they won't give me a loaner. My lease agreement clearly states a 2 year maintenance program with a free loaner car. I understand that they typical don't issue loaners for an oil change, but since they offered it to me last time, I figured I could get one this time. I have so much to do today that I was planning on getting a loaner to get errands done. Now, I'm stuck sitting here for an hour and a half and my entire day is thrown off. For a few months now I knew I was going to have to buy a car. I got a new job (same company) where I had to give up my company car. I know, sounds like a bummer but it worked out. So being the compulsive car shopper that I am, I began my search. I knew I wanted a brand new car, also, despite the instant depreciation of value. (I'll drive it for 5-7 years, I'll make money on the deal.) I decided on a GMC Terrain and off I was to make it happen. Unlucky me they are a brand new model and super hard to find. I had to do a lot of shopping in person and online. One day on Twitter I decided to hit up @jameswoodmotors with a simple "do you have any Terrains?" A long message stream back and forth with Amanda -- what I was looking for, when, etc. -- she sent me a few Flickr photos of the exact one I was looking for, told me where it was, and set me up with Alex in Denton to go drive it. I did all of this from my iPhone and never had to actually speak a word. Perfect for my uber Gen Y self. Monday night I drove the Terrain (for the third time, I knew I liked it at this point), came home, slept on it for another night, crunched some numbers, and today I purchased the ride. Amanda from @jameswoodsmotors was a HUGE help. It was nice to have someone quickly respond to my questions on Twitter with pictures, information about the car, if they worked with my bank, etc. I generally don't like car dealers and salesmen so it was nice to have that spatial disconnect that Twitter provided. Bought a truck from them in 1999. Will never go back. I went there to buy a truck and not get a credit card. To explain. After 2 months after I got the truck I received the GM Card (credit card) in the mail. Wait, I never applied for that. I looked at all the paperwork I had from the purchase and nowhere in that paperwork did it even mention applying for a credit card. Not even on the financing paperwork. I called up the dealership and got the run but finally found out that the finance office automatically signed people up for the credit card whether people ask for it or not AND without their actual signature on the paperwork. How do I know that? I paid another visit to confront them and went into that finance office and remove my file from their cabinet. And yes I took every bit of paperwork regarding my purchase as part of a lawsuit and resulting settlement against them. This was in 1999 way before places like Yelp but I still remember it like it was yesterday and I will continue to bad mouth them for as long as I live even if I don't even live near them anymore. read more

COLLISION REPAIR REVIEW: I want to review the auto body repair section of James Woods because I haven't been able to find a review that described their service in this area. From start to finish this was a great experience. I had a hit and run where my car was parked and I woke up to find the bumper damaged. The trunk would not open due to the hit. I took my car into James Woods as they are certified by Farmer's Insurance. The man who helped me out was great. Our first meeting he took pictures of the damage and looked up the parts needed and put the order in right away. Luckily my insurance covered everything besides a small deductible. There's been a lot of collisions possibly due to the construction on I-35, so I was lucky I was able to get my car serviced within a few days of first examination. The repair process was great, They keep you up to date every step of the way with an emailing service. The technician is able to walk you through every step of the process of your repairs. It was nice to see everything updated in real time and know exactly what to expect when. Delivery date is updated with the process as well. I actually received my car two days earlier than expected. I would DEFINITELY recommend James Woods to anyone in need of collision repair. read more

I will never do business with this dealer. While at Classic Chevrolet, I was able to locate the exact car we wanted, but it was at James Wood in Denton. When I called them they said that there would be no problem transferring the car to Classic Chevrolet. The next day, when I expected to pick up my new car, I was told that James Wood had sold the car to someone else. A simple call from the James Wood sales team yesterday would have been all it took for me to drive there and buy the car. Instead they choose to be spiteful and sell the car to someone else. The following post is an email that I sent to the Executive Managers at James Wood in denton after a very streesful and frustrating car buying experience! Good Morning Gentlemen, The purpose of this email is to discuss the reasons why our recent purchase at James Wood did not meet our customer service expectations. We purchased a 2017 white Ford Fusion from Kenny Morgan on June 1st, 2020. When we looked at the car, it had just been traded in and thus it was dirty inside and out, needed new tires, needed a couple new parts, and needed to be buffed and polished, which is understandable. We decided to purchase the car that same day. We were promised the car would be detailed inside and out including buffing the exterior of the car to remove small black and yellow paint scuffs. Kenny gave us a loaner car to use while the Fusion was being worked on and the loaner car was on empty. We didn't bring that to his attention because were in a rush and we were told our Fusion would be finished in a day or two. We got a call two days later and we were told it would take longer because there was a part that was ordered wrong. After a week, Kenny called us and told us the car was ready. When we arrived, we noticed that the car was still dirty, inside and out, one of the tires was bald, the original black and yellow scuffs were still there, and the engine cover was loose. At this point, Kenny apologized and told us to take the car for the weekend and bring it back Monday morning at 8:30am and he would make everything right. When we dropped off the car that Monday, Kenny was not there, and another sales representative assisted us in dropping off the car and gave us another loaner. Once again, the loaner car was dirty, and the gas was on empty. Kenny called us when he got in his office at 10:30 am and promised that all of the issues would be fixed and the car would be ready to pick up the next day, June 9th. When we picked up the car on June 10th, the interior and exterior of the car were STILL DIRTY!!! The car was on EMPTY!!! And the scuffs were STILL THERE!!! Kenny assured us his team did their best work to meet the above requests. So, we left disappointed and frustrated. We drove our Fusion to Bill Utter Ford in Denton to address the paint scuffs and minor scratches. Within a couple minutes we watched the paint and body manager remove all the yellow, red, and black scuffs from the car with his fingernail, paint thinner and a RAG! He also asked that we come by Saturday morning and let him (free of charge) touch up any wear and tear paint chips and detail the car. Small things like this is how you retain customers. Why is it that your service department could not do the job that only took a couple minutes at Bill Utter Ford? Kenny promised multiple times that they would detail the interior and the exterior and he didn't keep his end of the bargain. Therefore, we had to detail the car ourselves. While cleaning the car, we found a baby pacifier in the seat back pocket of the passenger seat, food crumbs in the center console and cup holders, dirt on the leather seats and interior plastic trim. This car was definitely not CLEANED. In addition, we noticed the owner's manual was missing. We cannot reset the door unlock code without this manual. While typing this email last night, I receive a phone call from Kenny telling me to bring the car back ASAP because the car hasn't had an inspection done, therefore, they can't order my tags or plates. The inspection not being done is ridiculous considering that it has been in the shop for seven full business days. Unfortunately, all of these events made our experience at James Wood horrendous. I have posted reviews on Google, Yelp, and Facebook expressing this. This is also not the first time I have had a bad experience at James Wood in Denton. I hope this is not how the James Wood FAMILY treats all of their customers. I expect that someone from senior management call me to discuss this horrible experience. I would not let this issue linger because I plan on continuously posting bad reviews. read more
