My 40 year old HVAC was finally acting up, and I requested Ryan's service. He was very professional and helpful right off the bat on the phone. I thought I did enough troubleshooting to narrow down the problem and explained to him which parts I might need. However, he patiently listened and at the end, respectfully, said that there may be another reason and said he can swing by after his last appointment (it was during the hottest days during last summer 2017 which was impossible to get a same day appointment). He actually called after his last appointment and said that he was on his way! And even better, he fixed the problem, literally with one finger, and didn't even charge me... but instead, he asked us to consider him when thinking of replacing our HVAC system. When we decided to replace our HVAC, Ryan was the first person we called. He was straight forward and gave us a price, but asked to call around to compare services... If this is the first time for you shopping for a HVAC system, let me warn you, it is a very confusing industry. Everyone is an expert and has experience, but each company will recommend different size systems. We obtained bids from 7 different companies. We decided to go with with Ryan for many reasons. The first reason was because of the first encounter with him, he was honest, straight forward, and on a busy day, he dropped by and fixed the problem without even charging us. Another reason was, after comparing prices, he was very competitive with his price. It was very hard to compare apples to apples because every company offered different systems from 2 tons up to 3.5 tons. Another was that he said he will be there during installation, and he was actually on site and doing work during installation with his crew. Our entire HVAC system and ducting was 30 years old and in need of replacement. I messaged Jamison Heating and Cooling from the Yelp app, and got a reply within a few minutes. Ryan came two days later to look over our system and give us a quote. He was very detailed in his observations. And made sure to explain everything to me. Honestly, he was the first person I had come look at the system. And we are new to this type of thing. I was thinking we could just replace the a/c unit so I was skeptical when he said we needed to replace the whole system and ducting. Then I had 3 other guys come out and give us a quote. One came in lower, but I was not confident in their ability just within our first meeting. The other two were substantially more. I checked all of their ratings on BBB, and looked them up through the registrar of contractors. The reason we chose Jamison is because they are a small business (we like to support those guys!), their price was right, and the customer service was great. The guys came out today to install the new system. There were 4 or 5 guys here from 8am-6pm and worked hard the entire time. Our home is actually cool without having to run our AC 24/7. We didn't even know what we were missing until this beauty arrived. He came highly recommended and installed our residential A/C unit and we love it, but what made Ryan stand out was his ability to diagnose a problem with the A/C unit's plenum on the roof of our office and this is after the management company's repairman went up to check and said nothing was wrong. With this new information, our management company finally replaced the unit. We switched out for LED lights, put in motion sensor lights, Ryan changed the filters and his recommendation was instrumental in helping us get the new unit and after 2 years, we had a year of lower energy consumption dropping us down to SCE's lowest tier for energy cost. One of the worst things that can happen during a heat wave is for your AC unit to go out. Our system went down Saturday evening and we called Jamison Sunday morning. Thankfully, we were able to schedule a time for them to come by on Tuesday morning. I recently approached several HVAC companies because our central AC unit had reached its end of useful life after 15 years with significant leak that started few months earlier in the system which required three costly refringent recharge. After contacting several local HVAC companies through Yelp, Griffin came to our house last Saturday and after inspecting the condenser and the evaporator coil in the attic came up with a proposal that was reasonable and detailed. He answered our questions and said we could start as early as Monday. I had several questions about the contract which I asked him on Saturday evening after the business hours but he responded right away. He is a technical person and not a salesperson trying to sell you unnecessary items you don't need. Out of several quotes we requested there were some companies that didn't respond at all (Great job on your marketing!!!!), some that came up with astronomical numbers to replace our unit without a need to come and inspect, and only few including Jamison Heating & Cooling that had reasonable rate and detailed proposal. Keep in mind it is not only price that people should consider when hiring a company. Someone can offer you extremely low prices and keep you happy for a short time, only for problems to start a short while later because they cut a corner or made a wrong installation. It is too bad you can only work with one great company at any given time, and although this time we didn't work with Griffin this time, but I see us working with them in other projects in the future. In fact I forwarded Griffin's contact information to my family members because I believe he is not trying to cut corners just to make quick money but rather wants to build a good brand and reputation. We were having trouble with our 4 year old furnace. We gave up on the previous company as they had us sign up with an annual service but kept rescheduling a service call for one reason or another. That might happen occasionally, but 3-4 times in a row was a waste of my time. Jose from Jamison showed up on time, found a plug of paper in a line, cleared it and our furnace was back in business! After he completed his inspection, it was determined that I needed my air conditioner, heater and ducting replaced. When he give me an estimate, I found it to be fair and honest. Within days he had his team of five qualified installers at my home. They completed the work in just one day. When I inspected the completed project I could not believe my eyes. The equipment and ducting was installed beautifully and my home was as clean as it was before they got there. I'm incredibly disappointed after my experience today. I used this company to install return air ducts in two bedrooms less than two years ago. I called them out to see about installing an additional return air duct in a bedroom next door to one of the rooms that they did the same job in last time. I was quoted double the price to do less than half of the work done last time. I won't even talk about the recommendation I received on pricing to redo the duct-work in my entire attic, which was, comically, double the price quoted to install a single return air duct. The service technician provided the quote to install one return air duct after climbing a ladder and looking across my entire attic to the general area of where I wanted the work done. He never even fully got in the attic. After showing the gentlemen the invoice from the work completed prior, I was given the same song and dance many of these companies now give customers to justify predatory pricing (cost of materials, price hikes etc). Keep in mind the kits to do the type of work I needed done are sold in local home improvement stores for less than the price of good drill, but HVAC work isn't my kind of DYI project. I was then given a "discounted" price that was still absurd after they reviewed my old invoice which I still had electronically. I had two other companies come out and their estimates were less than half of Jamison's original estimate and this is from two of the traditionally higher priced HVAC vendors in SoCal. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. If you expect fair from these businesses, you'll eventually deal with them long enough to become disappointed. Many of these companies are only seeing opportunities to put the screws to loyal customers at the expense of long-term business. It all catches up. We are currently drawing up plans to do a home addition that will require an additional HVAC unit, if not two and potentially a complete HVAC system redo. That list of potential HVAC companies just got shorter. Maybe that's a good thing. read more

Our air conditioning system started losing its efficiency. The air coming out of the vents was cool but not cold. I called Jamison and set up an appointment for the next morning. Dan came over, he was very professional and knowledgeable. He diagnosed the issue as being a very small freon leak and provided me with several options. We made the decision to go with the repair of the unit even though it was a little old, instead of replacing the entire system. Dan was great, not pushy but rather very informative. Had the heater stop working. Called one place and they wanted 120 to come out. Called Jamison and they said 67. Colin was very professional and polite on the phone. He gave me a window of time of 12-2 and then called me when he knew a better window of 12:30-12:45....that was really cool. Max shows up. Really nice guy with a kind demeanor. He starts working and finds the problem within 3 minutes. It turned out a motor fan blade got stuck. He was honest and told me sometimes this happens, but I still have a little life left. We ran it for 15 minutes and it worked fine.He cleaned up the unit and we discussed the future of a new unit. I'm just not ready yet for that kind of Bill. I have tried to keep from rating a company because it seems that I rate them to quick and then become very disappointed. When I contacted them for a quote on replacing a heating that was installed when the house was built in 1957 with air ducts in the floor. This is one of the most professional companies I have ever used. Ryan came out and gave us a quote to replace our system with a new heat and air conditioning system. He told us they would all new air ducts through the ceiling. He said it would take 3 or 4 days to complete the work. I was very Leary as it seemed to be a lot of work. To our surprise they took out our old system which was in the middle of our house in a closet. They disposed it and installed their new unit in our attic with ducks in every room this is a great system that works better then expected. Our old unit was very noisy, and we had to turn up the TV when it came on, not with this unit, it is very quite any smooth. There workers were very polite and helpful and clean they covered all furniture with plastic when they were working and after would clean up after themselves. Ryan would not take the final payment until we were perfectly satisfied, they came back anytime we had a question. Can't say enough about this company, would recommend them to anybody.
