Caribbean food is not the easiest thing to find in Northern Virginia. A friend of mine moved to this area, and I just explored the map out of curiosity and spot at this place. We had said we were going to get oxtail at some point, and saw that this place sold it. So we decided to meet up here one day. I was surprised to see that it was inside the mall's food court -- I have only ever seen one other place with this setup (RIP Ya Mon). You could either order with the staff directly or on their kiosk, I love options. My friend and I decided to share the oxtail platter with steamed cabbage and rice and peas. I was impressed... Easily the best Jamaican food I've had in VA so far. Oxtails were cooked and flavored just right -- I was missing my favorite coconut taste from the rice and peas but that's okay. Cabbage was great. I told my friend to try a beef patty in coco bread. It was within the last hour before they closed, so they were out of both of those things, so he just got a chicken patty. Unfortunately it was pretty doughy and I wouldn't recommend that, but that wasn't originally what we had intended for him to get anyway. Hey, if you are near Springfield Mall, you are in good hands. There is one more Caribbean spot in the area I need to try, but I don't think it's going to be as good as this one. read more

This place is quite literally DA BOMB when it comes to Jamaican food in the DMV. It's located inside the Springfield mall, but don't let their mall location fool you. I've been coming here for some time and one thing I noticed is they're always consistent. Their oxtail that I got recently with Uber Eats was fresh, seasoned well-more than other oxtails I've had at other Jamaican restaurants- and portion size was decent. I also like that they put it on top of a bed of rice and peas not inclusive of it being a side. I got the rice and peas and plantains as sides and the plantains were SO yummy and sweet omg. I don't think I have had plantains so sweet and ripe before. They were also seasoned in a little sauce and fat so that gave them some extra savory flavor. Rice and peas were also very good. Their Jamaican beef patties are also really tasty and seasoned well. What makes this spot stand out is their consistency, quality, portion size, and seasoning. Their flavors are deep and not bland, which can be an issue at Jamaican restaurants where the dishes aren't seasoned enough. You will find this Jamaican food spot in the Springfield Town Center food court, on the upper level near Macy's. Being that it is in a mall's food court, you have two things, tons of parking and more than ample dining room seating. The guy working the front counter was vey nice friendly and courteous and helpful. You can place your order order at a small kiosk at the end of the counter or you can place it directly at the register. They serve Caribbean favs such as jerk chicken, cabbage, Jerk ribs, jerk salmon, plantains, and a jerk burger. I got the Jerk chicken with a side of cabbage and plantains. The food is already made, so they just had to make my plate. It took them less than 5 minutes to have my meal ready. I don't know if I can say it was the best Caribbean food, but it was pretty good. The chicken was a bit cool, but had lots of flavor. The plantains were juicy, with some crispy parts, just like I like them. They were very tasty. The cabbage was pretty good too. This is a decent spot to get your Jamaican food fix and do some shopping as well. I really enjoyed my meal and am sure that you will too. read more

I ate here today with my teenage son for the first time. Jerk Chicken and Jerk Salmon with plantains, cabbage, collared greens etc. Both mails were delicious! We ate everything! Great Place and surprisingly good quality food to be in the food court. I had to stop by at the Springfield mall for work and saw Caribbean food in the food court just had my heart excited. The guy that work there was nice and let me taste a small piece of oxtail with the sauce. The oxtail was really good almost authentic Jamaican. I end up ordering that will fried plantain that was perfectly cook and sweet but not mushy. The sautéed Cabbage was good as well it was tad over cook for me but the flavor it good but for most peoples the will like it. I am Asian and we like our veggie to still have a a lil crunch texture and not cook . The oxtail was nicely flavor with a perfect amount of heat and they put whole black pepper seed in there. I feel like the oxtail can be cook a tad bit longer so it will be more softer and fall of the bone. All together was $18.99 for the combo, I wish rice and pea come with it instead of just choosing 2 side because I don't need that much plantain. My favorite on the menu is the Jamaican Jerk Ribs (served on weekends only), Collard Greens and Mac & Cheese. Overheard in my hair salon that there was a new Jamaican restaurant in the Springfield mall. I immediately had to give it a try. It is located in the food court over by the Popeyes. At first sight I was a little nervous as the main window of sides didn't look super appealing. They have a variety of items on the menu to include jerk chicken, jerk ribs, oxtail stew, salmon, and a wide range of sides. I was a little bummed that they didn't have any curry items, but was excited to try the jerk chicken. I ordered the Jerk chicken meal which comes with 2 sides. I went with the collard greens and rice and peas. Total for that meal was around $12 with tax. Great price for the amount of food you're given. I was pleasantly surprised with the taste and overall quality of the food. The jerk chicken was delicious. Def has a kick to it, so keep that in mind if you're concerned with spice level. The chicken was juicy and had a nice grill taste to it. Paired great with the rice and peas. I felt the rice and peas lacked a little flavor, but the jerk sauce took care of that issue. I was also pleased with the collard greens. You can tell they were fresh collards. Some places use canned collards, which is a no-no for me. I was so happy with my meal that I went back to get the jerk ribs to go. Since I already had a full meal, I just ordered the ribs which comes with 4 ribs for $10. The meal with 2 sides is $12.99. The ribs fell right off the bone! Yummy. Nice and tender. I would ask for the sauce on the side if possible. They were a little too saucy for me. Still really good. They have a solid jerk sauce. I did notice that they have Filipino dishes on the weekend. Found that a little interesting. Not sure how the two cuisines relate to one another. I'll definitely give it a try. Glad to have this addition to the mall. That food court needed something to "spice" it up. Looking forward to trying the other items from the menu. I'm so glad I decided to come and try this new place in Springfield mall! They had just opened up so I had to try their oxtails and it didn't disappoint! I didn't catch the name of lady that took my order but she was beyond friendly, helpful and generous! Great service and food! I got the oxtails that comes with 2 sides and I chose rice & peas and the cabbage. Delish!!! Please note that the cabbage has a kick to it! I am very picky about oxtails since they are all not made the same! So I'm excited that the flavors are good and falls off the bone! My husband and I came here after he tried this place on a whim during a weekday lunch and was blown away. Well, the second time seemed to be just as good! The jerk chicken is tender and has a sweetness and also a spice that builds with each bite. I am very picky about my mac 'n cheese, and this one was good! The yucca fries tasted good dipped in what looked like remoulade sauce, and were crispy on the outside and tender, almost creamy on the inside. All this for $11! My husband noticed that when it came time to replace the rice and beans basin with a freshly cooked one, they got rid of the old stuff rather than serving it, which is a sign that this place has high standards for what they serve their customers! Ocerall, I was underwhelmed. The ox tails weren't very tender...a bit tough actually, and I only received about five oxtails. Some had very little meat. The macaroni and cheese was moist but flavorless. I had to add salt and pepper. The collard greens were tough and cut way too big. The rice and peas were decent because the oxtail gravy was poured over the top. I may give this another try in a few months to see if it has improved, but not anytime soon. read more
